Rev. Elisha Numan of the Baptist Church in Ungwan Makeri community of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna state, has regained his freedom after spending 15 days in his abductor's den.

The Baptist Pastor regained his freedom on Saturday evening after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom to the gunmen that abducted him on Wednesday August 14.

“Our brother has been released by kidnappers on Saturday evening after we paid the ransom. We have been in trauma since he was kidnapped on August 14, considering the fact that he was not even feeling well.

“Since the security agencies seemed to be helpless in tackling these criminals, we can only pray to God to visit His wrath upon the criminals” a source told The Nation.

Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) also confirmed the release of Rev. Numan.

“Rev. Elisha Numan was released on Saturday night after two weeks in captivity. He was released after a ransom was paid following series of negotiations with the bandits on the ransom.

“We thank God for His mercies, we pray for God’s intervention in the calamity that seemed to have befallen us as a nation.

“We will also continue to call on the government and the security agencies to do everything within their powers to stop the increasing rate of criminality across the country, especially the increasing wave of kidnappings in Kaduna.” Hayab said.

Rev. Numan was kidnapped with his son Emmanuel at their residence in Kaduna state. Emmanuel was later released by the kidnappers who demanded N20m for the release of his father, but got into negotiations with the family afterwards.

The suspected kidnapper, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume is still in Police custody.

The suspect who was freed by Army personnel and later re-arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force is presently in Police custody.

Also, several people have been arrested in the last few days in connection to crimes led by him.

A source close to the investigation told The Nation that the police have enough evidence to commence his prosecution in a court of competent jurisdiction.

The source said: “Wadume is still with the police. We have also made several arrest since his re-arrest by our men. Even up to yesterday (Saturday), some people were arrested in connection with the role they played in helping Wadume carry out his terrible acts.

“Investigation is seriously ongoing at the moment and we already have enough evidence to prosecute him but we don’t want to be seen to be ahead of the panel that was set up. Going forward without the final report from the panel will show that we are preempting the outcome.”

On how far the panel has gone with its investigation, he said: “The panel have rounded up their seating and they are at the stage of writing their findings.”

Ubi Franklin has been forced to issue a response after his first baby mama made a statement that gave the impression he's a deadbeat father.

Jennifer, while celebrating Zaneta, the child she had with Ubi Franklin, said she "plays the role of father and mother" in their daughter's life.

Ubi quickly responded to Jennifer's statement by revealing he's not in America, so cannot always be present to play his fatherly role.

He, however, pointed out that his baby mama did not say that he doesn't provide for their daughter.

He wrote:

That woman did not say I don’t take care of my daughter.
If you read up my post, it shows clearly that I don’t live in America and she does most of the work and doesn’t mean I am not doing my side of the pack.
When a woman says I do father and mother job meaning she is a single mother and lives far away and she does all the correcting from a mother and from father. This doesn’t mean I don’t do my job as a father.
Anyone who reads well will see that her post meant no harm.

There is trouble in paradise for Mikel John Obi and his girlfriend, Olga Dyachenko, following her decision to dump him, Brila reports.

The former Super Eagles captain moved to Trabzonspor in Turkey last month but the decision is seemingly not going well with Olga who has now reportedly told the Nigerian that she will no longer allow him to see the children should he remain in Trabzon.

A very close source to the family who revealed this much to AOIFootball.com, stated categorically that the situation could go really sour after Olga told Mikel that she will no longer come to Turkey with the children.

“I can confirm to you that all is not seemingly fine with them. Olga doesn’t like the city and has taken the children back to their base. In fact, she warned him against the move to Turkey but he convinced her about it. .

Now she came visiting and doesn’t like it; the kids do not also like it there in Turkey which could now be a problem for Mikel. .

Olga has told Mikel that she won’t return to visit him again which means he won’t also see the kids, leaving Mikel with only the chance of seeing his family in December during the Christmas break, a decision which I understand has left him sad, and may unsettle him” the source revealed.

The development becomes a worry for the 32-year-old who also struggled to see his family during his time with Chinese club Tianjin Teda and having to fly for hours back to England to see his daughters.
The source also expressed fears it may see him struggle in the Turkish league because of his unhappy mood following this development.

It is left to see if Mikel will like to see out his contract with the club.
The midfielder is however expected to be in action later Thursday night when Trabzonspor welcome AEK Athens in the Europa League, holding a 3-1 advantage in their quest to reach the group stages.

The Police have arrested a man, David Okorie, for allegedly defiling an 11-year old girl beside the Police Barracks in Lagos.

Source reports that the incident happened at Highway Patrol Barracks located in Ikeja, Lagos.

The Police did not state if the suspect, Okorie, was a Police officer living in the Barracks and if the victim was a Police officer’s daughter.

However, the Police alleged that the suspect reportedly lured the victim to a corner beside the Barracks, pulled her pant and penetrated her.
While he was still in the act, he was arrested and handed over to the Police for having unlawful carnal knowledge of the 11-year old victim.

During interrogation, the victim narrated to the Police how she was lured to the corner, asked to pull her pant and was eventually penetrated sexually.
The Police found Okorie culpable because of the age of the victim and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts several years imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.



The defendant was not granted bail and was remanded in prison custody after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, denied him bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
It was gathered that Okorie risks some terms of imprisonment if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that he should be tried for defilement.

The case may also be transferred to the High Court for trial over the alleged offence.
The matter was adjourned till 31st October, 2019, for report of the DPP’s advice to be available.

The phone thief in the message sent, revealed that he decided to steal the phone because they've also stolen his twice. He asked the phone owner to move on and also told her not to anticipate getting back the phone.

Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus has reacted to the recent arrest of 77 Nigerians by the FBI for fraud related crimes.

According to Badmus,

'

this is indeed shameful to us as a nation and it calls for sober reflection. That 77 out of 80 suspects involved in a syndicated and organised crime of fraud described by FBI as the largest online fraud scheme in United state is indeed appalling! I'm still asking these questions;

1. What went wrong?
2. Why do our youth derailed from successful achievements to becoming fraudsters?
3. Why are fraudsters celebrated more than hard workers?
4. Why would youth defend illegality even at their own expense?
Why? Why? Why?

Have we paused to imagine the impact this massive discovery “will” or “may” have on our nation? Have we taught of how negatively this will affect our youth wanting to do legitimate business home and abroad? Have we paused to think about how this will rub off on us individually as Nigerians and collectively as a nation! Oh mine.

Well, to everyone engaging in fraudulent activities claiming they are taking back what the oyinbos took from their forefathers be rest assured you will rot within the four walls of the jail your forefathers help them built...and for parents and family members urging their loved ones to perpetrate fraud, be rest assured that you will cry over them!

I want FBI and the whole world to know that those ones caught are not full representation of what Nigerian youth stands for! Nigeria youths are vibrant, hardworking and resilient! Please treat them (the suspects)as per their father's house and family name....kindly give chance to the good and honest Nigerians. (Wait! Is that a woman I’m seeing amongst in cuffs?! Gosh!)
