Two brothers, Alaba and Abiodun Musa, who were arrested by the police from the Odo-Noforija Division, Epe, for allegedly raping a teenager, have allegedly escaped from custody and fled.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the division flouted the order of the state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, that the duo be transferred to the Gender Unit of the command headquarters in Ikeja.

A source said the police, in a desperate bid to cover up, arrested the suspects’ sister and clamped her in detention.

Alaba and Abiodun had been accused of raping a teenager in the Igbooye community, Epe.

She was said to be running an errand for her father when the brothers allegedly accosted and hypnotised her.

They were alleged to have taken turns to rape her.

The brothers, who are indigenes of the town, were on a visit when the incident happened last Monday.

It was reported that the suspects threatened to deal with the victim if she told anyone about the incident.

However, she was said to have opened up, and community youths seized the suspects and handed them over to men of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, who in turn handed them over to the police on Tuesday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, had confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He had said, “We received the report that a girl alleged that two siblings slept with her. But one of them denied touching her, while the other, who claimed to be her boyfriend, confessed that he slept with her.

“But the girl confirmed that the two of them had carnal knowledge of her. The CP has ordered that the case be transferred to the gender unit for an in-depth investigation.”

A source said the police personnel at the division did not transfer the case to the gender unit as directed.

“The suspects are not in police custody. They have fled. One of them has been sending text messages and asking that the case be withdrawn from the state Ministry of Justice. They were supposed to have been transferred to the gender unit since last week, but they have escaped,” the source said.

Another source said the suspects’ sister had been protesting her detention, having cooperated with the police and assisted in the arrest of her brothers.

The Director of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said some residents had also called her attention to the development, adding that she was still making contacts.

“I believe that the CP will do justice in this matter,” she added.

A policeman at the division, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the two men were still in detention.

The DPO also said it was not true that the men had escaped.

He, however, refused to speak further, saying he was in a meeting.

The police spokesman, Elkana, said the DPO had yet to respond to enquiries on the case.

Architecture lecturer filmed tossing, stomping on models made by students in a Nigerian university.

A video of an architecture lecturer tossing and crushing models made by architecture students in a Nigerian university has elicited outrage.

In a video shared by @blackMario007, the lecturer is seen inspecting the students' building models while the students stand around.

For models he wasn't satisfied with, the lecturer is seen picking them up from the table and throwing them away. He climbs on one of the models and stomps it till it's completely destroyed.

Twitter users have called the lecturer all sorts of names in reaction to the video.

A man has been handed over to security operatives in #DeltaState for assaulting a boy he was allegedly trying to rape.

The incident happened this morning along Udu road in #Warri. The victim was said to have resisted the suspect but was beaten to submission before he allegedly eventually had his way.

A masquerade has allegedly killed a young man identified as Echezona, the son of one Theo Nwadi in Orsu-Ihiteukwa, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

A Facebook user, who disclosed this on Wednesday, said the incident happened around the Udah/Ihiteukwa axis of Orsu.

"I have always said it and will continue to say it , I see no reason why masquerade should be roaming abt with weapons, guns, dagger, knife etc.This happened in orsu around the udah/ihiteukwa axis. Tradition will always be tradition BT it does not worth the life of anybody .. Our tradition need urgent measure cos its not the first time such an accident is happening. Houses have been burnt down BT the dead will never rise again. Evil guys hide under the name of tradition to carry out their evil deed.

Nigerian singer, #ReekadoBanks, has dropped his elder brother, Temi Solomon, as his manager.

In a recent chat with Cool FM, he explained that his decision was as a result of next level dealings seeing that his vision has grown and he needs people who see as far as he sees.

His words: “It was just next level dealings. I wanted to get somewhere else, the vision became alot farther, like I saw farther than I used to see and I just needed somebody that’ll see as much, most especially someone that’s been there with other people (artistes) but me and my brother are cool.”

When asked if Temi, who has managed him since the beginning of his career, is still a part of his team in any capacity, he answered in the negative. Reekado is now being managed by Twenty20media led by Davido’s former manager, Kamal Ajiboye.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, #EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, has arrested two suspected internet fraudsters who specialized in #stealing people’s identities online to defraud foreign nationals.

The suspects, Akeju Crown Babatunde, 31, and Agbanah Toba, 35, were arrested at different locations in Ibadan following intelligence gathered on their alleged involvement in internet frauds.
.
After diligent examination of data and documents retrieved from them, the Commission was able to establish enough ground for prosecuting the suspects for acts contrary to the provisions of Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc) Act, 2015, and would be accordingly charged to court soon.
.
Akeju, for instance, was found of mining information from online sites, and was in possession of personal information and addresses of several Americans who have fallen victim to his fraudulent acts at different times.
.
The suspect usually operated with two email accounts – one personal and one other supposedly official – to penetrate his victims and dispossess them of their hard-earned money.
.
EFCC’s investigations also established Akeju’s deployment of fake identity to engage foreigners in romantic affairs with the intention to defraud them.
.
Findings revealed various lodgments from his foreign victims into his Nigerian bank accounts.
.
Agbanah’s case is not too different. He had admitted in his confessional statement with the Commission to be falsely representing himself as one Chris Dan, a 40-year-old Briton, working with the United Nations.
.
He confessed to have used the white man’s picture to lure his victims into romantic relationships and thereafter solicit for money from them allegedly to enable him to pay for his flight ticket to pay them scheduled visits. After much familiarization, he would then device other tricks to swindle them the more.
.
The two suspects are still helping the Commission with relevant information for further investigations into activities of their other partners.
