PoliticsTinubu’s Support Group To Ask Youths Be Involved In Party Politics by GiwaMoore1(op): 9:55am On Jan 31, 2021
A group, the Asiwaju National Students Support Organisation (ANSSO) has called on youths across the country to go and register with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group made the call ahead of the February 2 commencement of membership registration and revalidation by the party.

A statement by the National Coordinator, Comrade Giwa Muritala, lamented about the low youth involvement in party politics, as most youths only agitate without taking some steps to become members of a political party.

He added that the few who join party politics are always afraid of big parties because of the fear of being dominated and would sometimes end up in parties that would not help them achieve their goals.

“We can only have a fruitful negotiation with the older leaders on the proper ratio for both the young and the old when we have a reasonable number of youths as members of the political party, which will form a very strong ground for proper negotiations.

“The membership registration and revalidation exercise about to be commenced by the ruling APC has created a very good window for both youths and students to join party politics. We must all take responsibility by playing our part. Every youth and student who are up to 18 years can vote and be voted for, but the question remains how many are in a place where they can have all that is required to be voted for?

“We have advocated that we are not too young to run, a movement which gained both national and international attention, now is time to perfect the movement for youth participation by getting involved in party politics, register as a party member, unite with other youths and negotiate for a proper sharing formula of all elective positions between the older leaders, the young ones and women, that’s the only way to make headway.

The group further noted that participating in party politics remains the only means of getting into elective positions in Nigeria now.

PoliticsAnsso Commends Senator Abiru On Scholarship To Students by GiwaMoore1(op): 9:17am On Jan 25, 2021
The Asiwaju National Students Support Organization led by Comrade Giwa Murtala Omotola - Moore has commended the Lagos East law maker and parliamentarian Senator Mukhail Tokunbo Abiru on his scholarship and empowerment initiative to constituents of Lagos East.

This is a manifestation of the campaign promises and manifestos the people believed and voted for, Abiru is already down the lane dishing on a platter like King Herod and his dancing daughter the message of hope and contuinnity as his programmes have been unveiled ANSSO stressed.

Barely three months in office "My Legislative Priorities" as tagged by the lawmaker is already institutionalizing on a staccato, it began with COVID-19 relief materials across the 95 council wards and scholarship for students, skills acquisition for youths and interest free loans for traders about to kick start.

As a student body of like minds we laud the erstwhile banker for touching the lives of commoners this short period, citing four satellite locations for liason offices added to the secretariat to ease registration and encourage transparency is another point of quality representation in place.

ANNSO is a group of progressive, passionate and visioned student leaders with state, local, and ward structures across the 6 geo political zones of the country, who believe in the hope and dreams of a new Nigeria under our indisputable supreme leader Bola Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu.

2023 presidential election is about two years from now and the work for it by aspirants is on going. One of the major aspirants is the former governor of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Though he is yet to make official declation for the number one political position of the nation, activities and moves by him have made it obvious he will contest.

In the latest development, the National Advisory Council of the Asiwaju National Students Support organisation, ANSSO has formed executive committees for the organisation.

As reported by Vanguard, the chairman of the advisory Council, Mr John Abbah said the group was constituted by a body of patriotic Nigerian Students who cut across the nation.

Abbah said the group are drumming support for the former Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because they found him to possess the requirements of a modern political leader.

Comrade Giwa Murtala Moore was made to head the national Executive Committee as the national coordinator. Comrade Giwa studied political science and International Relations at the University of Abuja.

PoliticsAbiru Lauds APC Local Government, Ward Chairmen Over Election Success by GiwaMoore1(op): 11:01am On Jan 24, 2021
The Lagos-East Senatorial Representative, Tokunbo Abiru, has lauded APC local government and ward chairmen in the Lagos east senatorial district for contributing immensely to the success of the Dec 5th bye-elections, Blackbox Nigeria reports

The Senator, who thanked the chairmen in a meeting held on Saturday, at his constituency office in ikorodu however, noted that more efforts will be required in achieving success at the party’s general level.

“I want to appreciate the salutary contributions made by everyone, coupled with the backlash of the #ENDSARS protest we still came out with resounding success.

“When you compare the total votes cast, with that of the total registered voters, it looks dismal. According to INEC’s record, the total votes cast were 100, 005 plus, when you compare this with the total registered voters, you will have 8%, and this underscores the point that the turnout was indeed low.

"However, INEC confirmed that typical turnout of bye-elections is usually 4%, which implies 8% is salutary, and this is as a result of our collective efforts.

“This also tells us as a group and as a party, that there is still a lot to be done. At this point, we can’t afford to be complacent, but work harder to improve the larger poll, creating more awareness and making the people to be actively engaged with the party,” said the former Polaris Bank CEO.

Tokunbo Abiru become the Senator representing Lagos-East following the death of Senator Adebayo Sikiru Osinowo who died from complications suspected to be coronavirus.

PoliticsSenator Abiru Unveils Scholarship, Empowerment, Interest Free Loans by GiwaMoore1(op): 11:11pm On Jan 23, 2021
The Lagos-East Senatorial Representative, Tokunbo Abiru, on Saturday unveiled his programmes for the Lagos-East people.

The senator, who will be joining his colleagues in resuming on Tuesday 26 January 2021, after the end of year recess, unveiled three programmes namely; skills acquisition, scholarship, and interest-free loans for his constituents.

Abiru who recently announced a covid-19 support package for over 95 wards in Lagos East, noted that the winners of the scholarship programme will also be mentored with the necessary skills to produce competent and well-informed youths.

“The scholarship will cut across 5 local government areas, it will however be very competitive. The scholars will also be mentored, as this has been one of the major deficiencies of the traditional Nigerian universities,” the senator explained.

The senator also assured that interest-free loans for petty traders and those who are vulnerable will kick off before March 2021

This interest-free loan is targeted towards petty traders, and those who have been rendered vulnerable by the economic situation in the country, I am very certain that before March we would have kicked off the initiative.

25 people from 5 LGA and 11 LCDA will benefit from this initiative, the model will be managed in such a way that everyone will benefit from it.”

Speaking of the skills acquisition, the senator said selected grassroots members will be visiting skill acquisition centers to find out those who genuinely need assistance.

“Many at times when you empower people, say for example with a tricycle, they end up selling it and doing other things with the money. This time we will be smarter about it.

“Grassroot members will be visiting various acquisition centers, necessary to know how many persons we can fund and support, we will be dealing directly with the centers, and we will have a registered list of people we registered with these centers,” the former Polaris Bank CEO said.

The senator also disclosed that 4 people have been mandated to search for satellite locations in Epe, Lekki Ibeji, Kosofe, and Somolu Bariga.

“Everyone does not need to come down to the secretariat, that is why we want to open coordinating centers where anyone can walk in and register their complaints which will be redirected to us.

“You can be rest assured that there will be a daily connection between the secretariat here and the other 4 liaison offices, this is very important for quality representation,” the senator said.

PoliticsBREAKING: Heavy Tension In Kano As Gov. Ganduje Places Siege On Emir’s Palace by GiwaMoore1(op): 11:11pm On May 11, 2019
Reports reaching me now says there is currently a deployment of heavily armed policemen around Kano Emir’s Palace and personal residents of some senior council members of the emirate.

It was learnt that about 10 Police Hilux Vans, which conveyed security personnel to the place, were stationed at Kofar Kudu emir’s palace, another 10 around personal residence of Chief of Staff to the Emir of Kano Malam Muhammadu Sanusi along Iyaka road.

Further information revealed that another 10 police patrol vehicles were stationed at the main entrance of Kano State Government House, while one patrol van was kept at the personal resident of the incumbent Galadiman Kano Alhaji Abbas Sanusi.

Also, security personnel were stationed at the main entrance of Audu Bako State Secretariat. One of the policemen at the secretariat confided in Daily Trust that they were conveyed to the secretariat as early as 6am.

This may not be unconnected with the planned presentation of letters of appointment to the four new emirs by the state governor but when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, said he was not aware of the Police operation and would rather not make any comment about it.

However, he said: “I will find out from my superiors why police Mopol were deployed and communicate to you. As soon as I get details of the operation, I will get back to you.”

9th Assembly: Femi Gbajabiamila Will Uphold The Principles Of Separation Of Power And Unity Of The House

By Giwa Murtala Omotola

Its not a news again that leadership tussle of the ninth Assembly is the talk of town presently in every quarters of the nation. Nigerians are eager to know who will be their next speaker, numerous person's has indicated interest in the Speakership seat.

Although, that's the beauty of democracy because democracy gives room to contestation not imposition. Its better we have many persons indicating interest so that our ever prepared lawmakers will be availed the opportunity to pick the best and the most qualified among the contestants, than to have a single person indicating interest.

Realistically, most of those lawmakers that has indicated interest have some unique qualities in their own way but Gbajabiamila posses a distinct traits that gives him edge ahead of them all, he is very consistent and reliable, he is capable to lead the 9th Assembly as Speaker. This is a man that has always been actively involved in politics, even while he was in United States where he vehemently participated in the election of Bill Campbell who later went on to become the Mayor of the city of Atlanta.

Platonically, the National Assembly needs philosophical kings at the helm of affair, the House is in need of individuals that are intellectually sound, morally upright, the House needs leader that will help promote good governance and unite the House to stand firm as an independent entity. People like Femi Gbajabiamila should be encouraged and empowered to lead the House as speaker of the ninth Assembly.

It is a popular aphorism that Leaders are mostly made by God, some argue that leaders are made through service, experience and character as true as all these sentiments might be, I dare say that, Gbajabiamila is a quintessential leader that posses both supernaturally abilities, experienced and natural endowments with great penchant for excellency in all ramifications. Be that as it is, he is a honest leader with divinely gifted leadership gifts that can move the National Assembly forward, make it a viable House that will always supply voice to the voiceless citizen then make the country a great one.

Lawmakers need to get it right now to avoid future occurrence that may lead to unproductive representation and legislation, our lawmakers must ensure they vote for those that are credible and capable to pilot the affairs of the Assembly, support a leader that will safeguard the principle of separation of power, a leader that will unite the entire house no matter the political divides, a leader that is well experienced, a leader that listens to his followers.

It seems quite clear that the only most qualified and most experienced among those vying for the Speakership seat is Femi Gbajabiamila. He is the current majority leader of the 8th Assembly, he has served his constituents and the entire Nigerians selflessly through his motions and bills that is very beneficial to the people, his submissions on the floor of the house speaks voluminous about him, a very popular and dedicated legislator that prioritize the interest of the majority.

Femi Gbajabiamila was the first legislator to introduce a classic job fair titled "Lagos Job Fair", the first of its kind in Sub-saharan Africa, the job fair brought employers of labor drawn from both public and private sectors which brings job seekers from the nooks and crannies of the country under one roof. Instant employments were given to meritorious candidates who are currently excelling in NAFDAC, SMEDAN, FIRS, MIKANO, Lagos Inland Revenue Service, Lagos State civil service commission amongst others. The Gbaja model was adopted not by individual again but by state Government's because of the unalloyed success that was recorded.

Femi Gbajabiamila led the adhoc committee of the House that prevailed on the federal government to employ family members of victims of the 2014 Nigeria Immigration recruitment disaster and advocated for automatic employment for injured victims who were still alive, presently, most of the injured persons have all been gainfully employed.

Categorically, Femi Gbajabiamila had sponsored the highest number of Bills in the National Assembly amongst all the legislators. He has sponsored over 29 bills on the floor of the House of Representative. Some of his bills are, Employee Rights Bill, Local content in Construction Industry Bill, Vocational Schools Bill, The Economic Stimulus Bill, Interest-Free Students Loan, Establishment of Nigeria Education Bank Bill, he also fought immensely on the floor of the house for Federal Government to recognise the newly created local government in Lagos state.

Other bills to his watch are bill to criminalize the use of ‘estimated billing’ in the calculation of electricity consumed and to be paid for by consumers by Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies. The bill to criminalize "estimated billing" in the calculation of consumed and amount to be paid by consumers has gathered momentum. He also sponsored a community Service Bill to decongest prisons, the review became necessary to save the inmates that are not criminals but petty offenders involved in misdemeanours like wandering, hawking or trading illegally on the streets. The bill aimed to allow low offenders to be given a milder punishment than imprisonment. Making them to do community services would be of more benefit to the society than imprisonment. More importantly, it would help decongest nation’s prisons yards, overcrowded with awaiting trial prisoners.

Femi Gbajabiamila believe in decent and proper representation, he took an active part in debates on the floor of the House and was fast recognized as one of the brilliant legislator in the National Assembly. He was always on the side of truth and justice and his view actually reflected the wishes and aspirations of the people. He has been an asset to the house with his great presentation of issues and robust contributions to sessions.

His view was especially evident during the “third term debate” when he was chairman of the 2007 movement in the House, a group largely credited for ending the “third term agenda” and machinations of the then President Obasanjo to perpetuate his stay in office. He did this at great risk to his life and political sojourn. His exceptional record saw him overwhelmingly re-elected in 2007 and elected as Action Congress leader and Minority Whip of the House. He is also known for being the first legislator to reject a national honour.

Gbajabiamila also demonstrated his philanthropical gesture by doling out 30 new Buses, 25 Tricycles and 160 Motorcycles to his Constituents, which cut across the 9 Wards in Surulere 1 federal Constituency. The Community Development Associations, Youth Associations, Women Associations, Artisans, Socio-Cultural groups (Arewa, Igbo Coalition and South South group) and APC party faithfuls were all benefitted. The Legislator move was not only to show that he is an humanitarian and a renowned philanthropist but to make the beneficiaries have means of livelihood. Gbajabiamila is an advocate of reduction in cost of governance and the salary of legislators.

As speaker of the ninth Assembly he will ensure the independence of the legislature and harmonious relation with the executive and judicial arms of government, the principles of separation of power will be regarded. He is committed to lead the house to provide best-in-class solutions to critical issues affecting the nation at large and he will drive a solid plan of action for the greater and prosperous Nigeria of our choice.

PoliticsRe: Decentralization Of Kano Emirate by GiwaMoore1(op): 9:35pm On May 11, 2019
Sardauna Bello had removed Emir Sanusi the First in a classic act of political vendetta but that did not stop his grandson from coming back to the throne in glory.

Obafemi Awolowo had removed Alaafin Adeyemi the Second from the throne in similar circumstance, but did not forever seal the fate of his son Adeyemi the Third from coming back to improve on the record and legacy of his father.

General Adebayo had sent Olowo Olagbegi the Second into exile for 25 years but the man came back to die on the throne and was succeeded by his first son.

Premier Samuel Ladoke Akintola had cut down the salary of Oba Adesanya the Odemo of Ishara to one Penny at one point in his reign but the valiant monarch survived the ordeal.

Maximum Dictator Sani Abacha had dethroned Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki in similar circumstance.

Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State had used his transient power to intimidate and victimize the Olubadan to no avail. In roughly a fortnight from today, Ajumobi’s vendetta and autocratic regime in Ibadan would be History.

Ganduje of Kano is again using his transient power as Governor to humiliate, frustrate and embarrass Lamido Sanusi who is far above his pay grade in all aspects of life.

I once wondered aloud more than 2 years ago in an article on Lamido Sanusi if his decision or choice to go become the Emir of Kano would not come back to hunt him given his courage to call a spade a spade in a society where people like him are considered a threat.

Like you Ambassador Tunde Odofin, I stand shoulder to shoulder with the great Emir of Kano, a man of timber and caliber an erudite Economist and a man of History who could end up pretty much like his principled grandfather in the political Armageddon of Kano or Nigerian Politics.

I personally detest what is going on in Nigeria today where the Rule of Law is nothing more than a slogan to be mindlessly trampled upon by the ruling Oligarchy.

Sad to say, our leaders in Government now take their cue from what is happening in America the so-called Bastion of Democracy.

Decentralization Of Kano Emirate: A Great Tyranny Perpetrated Under The Shield Of The Law And In The Name Of Social Justice

By Giwa Murtala Omotola - Moore

As a progressive Youth what i resolved to do initially was to keep mute over the recent happening in Kano State against the neoteric bill that was passed by Kano State House Of Assembly, the bill to "create additional Four first class Emirates" in Kano State. I came to realise that if we don't speak who will speak for us and I also discern the fact that silence is a mammoth crime against humanity, our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter to us and the farthest measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of pleasure and comfortability, but where he stands at the times of challenge and controversy.

Platonically, Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty. Is democracy a cause or a blessing to our Nation?. I was surprise when I heard it yesterday on radio programme on my way home in a public transport that Kano State House Assembly lawmakers have approved the bill for the amendment of the local government and chieftaincy affairs law and that Governor Umar Ganduje have also assented to the bill the same day the bill was passed by the lawmakers. The four new Emirates will be situated in Rano, Gaya, Karaya and Bichi.

There is no tyranny greater than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice. Its glaring that Umar Ganduje move is a ploy to reduce the influence of the incumbent Emir of Kano, he did that so that he will be able to use divide and rule tactics among the emirs when the need arises.

The state government have murdered one of the largest and greatest emirate in Sub-sahara Africa, the decentralisation of the Kano Emirate have thereby reduced the number of emirates under the influence of the sitting Emir of Kano. There is no regard for our long age custom and tradition. The Emirate that has been in existence even before the birth of the Governor.

How can we neglect our culture for political gains, it's very sad that we don't attribute any uniqueness to our culture and tradition again, how can the state government speedily decentralize an emirate that was created in 1805 and the council that was formed in 1903 after the British pacification of the Sokoto Caliphate.

In 1963 Ado Bayero became the emir, he reigned for 50 years until his death in 2014 then Emir Muhammed Sanusi II takeover from him, he is still the emir till date. We must understand that Ganduje is not destroying HRH Sanusi Muhammed Sanusi II, his agenda is to divide and undermine one of the strongest and most reputable institution as well as one of the most treasured heritage in Africa, just for political vendetta. Why not dethrone the Emir instead of destroying the emirate?

However, the action of the Kano State Government and Kano State House of Assembly members towards HRH Sanusi Muhammad Sanusi II is melancholic in nature. The Emir is truly a benevolent, intelligent and progressive King. He’s a rare gem. To many the Kano Emirate symbolizes the perseverance of the North. What Governor Umar Ganduje did is an insult to the heritage and culture of Kano's emirate. This is utterly miraculous and disrespectful to our age long culture and tradition. We must put an end to this act so that other Governors will not adopt this same divide and rule strategy.
