I'm new to this platform and I joined because I have a question for those that have applied for study permit against fall 2017.

Is it normal to have applied submitted one's application since May 12th having done upfront medical and hasn't gotten any form of update on his mycic account as shown in the pic below? Coz I'm in shock even the medical done on the 5th of May hasn't been update.

As for surviving in Canada. I will say it's God and determination. I knw pple who make 3k monthly while in school, believe me wen I say dey have no social life. All they do is work,class and sleep with the little spare time dey have. Don't come here all in the hope of coming to upload pictures on Facebook,ig etc just knw wat you re here for and believe me the sKY will be your starting point. Funny enough their school system isn't so difficult. Just knw wat you re doing and u will be fine.

So I just landed safely at Toronto Pearson (YYZ) via BA.

I was asked for my school fees receipt by the immigration office before he agreed to Print my study permit.

Luckily I had access to the airport WiFi and quickly logged into my school portal to show him evidence of all my fees paid. He then proceeded to Print the letter.

After handing me my study permit, I asked If that was all and he said yes! I was not convinced Cus I had read someone's experience here about getting his SIN number and work permit too at the airport, so I reluctantly walked away from him to leave, then one nice lady called me back and asked if I won't like to get a work permit and I'm like 'why the hell not' ...the hell was silent sha!!!

So she took me into the room again and in 5 minutes I was done!

So I got my study permit, SIN, and work permit at the airport in less than 15 minutes!

So please you guys should have a copy of your school fees receipt handy and all other documents (even if it's an e copy on your phone) you never know what these guys might ask for!

I had been out of town lately hence my online absence. My application got refused a few days. I am not entirely sure why because there was no correspondence letter attached. Even my ex-consular friend was a little surprised. I plan to apply for my gcms notes, defer my admission and reapply in a few months. However I would like to share my profile and hopefully I can get ideas and suggestions from everyone in the house:

I applied online in June. I got admitted to BSc. Commerce at MUN.

Documents I submitted:

1. Acceptance Letter
2. Passport Page and prior visa pages (5 UK Visas and 11 year travel history, valid USA and UK , South Africa visas)
3. Bank Statements from maternal uncle totalling 6.7m, also submitted attestation of age for him and my mother (my tuition and upkeep amount to 5m)
4. Affidavit of Support stating relationship (although I never mentioned about his dependants). Sponsor is based abroad.
5. CIC Forms
6. Upfront Medicals
*No SOP.

I got refused a US visa several years ago, about 5 I believe. I actually forgot to state that in my application when I initially applied because it was such a while ago, but immediately I remembered I think the next day; I contacted a lawyer friend in Canada and he advised me to write CIC Ghana immediately and I did, explaining to the error in the application. They confirmed that they received the email and would attach it to my file. This was before I even did my biometrics.

I would also like to confirm if anyone has applied successfully from the United States or The UK? I plan on applying from there.

It's 24hrs from the day of dispatch.

Well, no hotel around airport would be less than 10k but you can mek arrangement for a cab to take you to the airport. If you leave Lekki at 4am, u can get to airport at 4:45. That should cost u about 4k. U are saving 6k which is something. But if you have the money, I'd advice, take your time, go to airport road and check out the hotels there and their rates.... But know that paying hotel is one thing, u will still need to pay another cab like 2-3k to take u to Int'l airport.

Just my thoughts though.

I think something is actually wrong with cic's website. The notice of the update they did since 2nd of August is still on the website. They ought to have removed it by now since the date has passed....just like how they removed notice for previous updates. God help us o
