RalphJean: Dear friends on this thread,
Re: TV Licence Fees
I am writing this to you because of my firm believe that this thread is meant to promote the right thing. I am writing this because I believe that dodging TV Licence fees is illegal (at least within the ambit of the law as IG currently is).
My advice: If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is: Visit the licensing website: https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7
In less than 2 minutes, fill the form. They will send you an exemption.
Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door.
Yours sincerely, RalphJean (who applied for, and got an exemption hence I do not watch, I do not pay and do not need to sound reminders to my children to shut the door to Law Enforcement Officers). Ok |

Blanchefleur: ⚠️TB CERTIFICATE: IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you are certain that you will be leaving this September, try and book for TB Certificate now. It is issued by the International Office of Migration in Lagos or Abuja. You will need an Xray at the office on your appointment day (and possibly a sputum culture - someone mentioned they asked for this. I didn't do this).
I want to share with you a trick to get an early date in June/July for your TB Certificate. While booking online, in the online form, choose Canada or New Zealand. There is less rush to Canada and dates are more available. Once you get to your appointment, you are given a fresh form to fill. Ensure you fill for UK. A member of this group did this successfully and got his TB Certificate today!
⚠️Ensure you pay the full amount for UK which is N57,800 and fill for UK your appointment day. The online form gets you an appointment and let's you in the gate.
Good luck as you prepare.

Vicas2000: This is for one of my ward actually. But yes, she was given a £1,000 discount. They did not give the discount until i had paid deposit and she did pre-cas interview.
From experience, the discount wont be applied until your CAS letter is issued. But make sure you chase them for it.
How was is d initial deposit for this school?
If they are yet to give you an offer, contact international admission via email, call them, contact their Nigerian country rep. You need to send MULTIPLE emails and calls. |

Nice one Kharleed: Personally, I believe there are only three things a VO needs an F-1 applicant to prove. 1. Strong Home Ties: This is a no-brainer. A Visa Officer needs to be assured that you will return to Nigeria and not be a burden after you graduate. Do you have family here? Do you have a wife/husband in Nigeria? Do you have kids? Are you currently working? Do you own a business? Is it your family/Spouse that is funding you? Do you have scholarship from a local company? Is it a government scholarship? At least, can you clearly articulate your plans after you graduate? Does the VO has a gut-feeling that you are genuine? Do you have history of past travel and returning to Nigeria as at when due? Do you have a research you are working on tied to Nigeria? Just answer any of these questions honestly in your mind. If you are planning to lie to the VO, don't trip: Be rest assured you are coming out of that cubicle with a rejection slip.
2. Proof of Studentship: The VO is trained to pick the wheat from the chaff, to separate genuine students from people who want to japa. (Sorry if you don't know the meaning of Japa ). Answer honestly in your mind: What do you know about your research/course-of-study? Are you clear on your proposed thesis? What do you know about your school? The city where your school is? Where are you going to stay when you get to the US? Why did you apply to the school? Why did you select the school? Do you have contacts in your department? Is the course related to your undergraduate degree? If not, why are you switching careers? Can you articulate responses to these passionately?
3. Funds: Who is paying for your trip to the US? People with scholarships/fellowships/assistantships/funding from first family (mother, father, siblings, spouse) usually have no problem with this point. But if someone else is funding you, I mean awon Uncle, Aunties, In-laws, companies gang, be ready to explain the motive. Someone cannot just part away with millions of naira just because they love you. Be ready to explain, what is your relationship with this entity? How long have you known each other? What is their motive for investing in you? Are you paying back? Is it a loan? If you got a partial funding, and another entity is covering the rest, you'd still explain. If you got tuition waiver, with no extra funding, you need to explain solidly how you plan to survive in the US. If you have kids going with you, what is your educational plan for them? What is your medical plan? You must have sorted accommodation for at least a semester. You cannot be saying. You are not sure/act like you have not really prepared. So what's your plan?
In essence, be honest and be prepared. The VO must have rejected you earlier for not meeting one of those requirements. The embassy/consulate HAVE YOUR RECORDS and also access to DO A BACKGROUND CHECK on you. So with these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to , reflect on your last interview and answer honestly to yourself, has something changed? Do you have strong home ties now? Can you convince a dummy you are really a student? Do you genuinely have funding (have plans for funding) now?
Be it as it may, if God wants you to be in US, and you have worked diligently and honestly, and you have nothing to hide, your visa WILL be approved. The God factor is the most important factor. As the maxim goes: work like you have not prayed, PRAY like you have not worked, because in essence, it is not by your hard-work.
Whew! That was an epistle. My bad. I was a beneficiary of this thread (Part 15) and I look for opportunities to pay it forward. It's been a month in the US now and I must say, life is really good here. Back to my studies, Aluta Continua!
PS: Don't look for my moniker, I'm on ghostmode |
Schools that do not require WES or any evaluation.
After my visa denial in November, I visited the websites of probably about 600 schools while searching for schools to apply to. Fortunately I was approved the 2nd time. A positive thing is that I was able to write some schools down and now I have time to make this list.
These schools do not require any evaluation from you. The first 14 schools here, I am sure they will let you apply with your unofficial transcript then send the official one later. For the rest, some may let you apply with your unofficial transcript while some will need the official one during your application (You can verify from their website). Information is correct as at December 2020.

There are a lot more but this is what I have. Even with all these, I would advise you to evaluate your transcript if you have the time and resources, your options will be endless! But if you don't, then fine. That is what this list is for. Hope it helps someone All the best!
|

Neeta02: Check Discover student loan. But they will need you to have a co-signer who’s a US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. The application takes approximately 3weeks depending on how fast you submit the documents. Search for them on google you’ll get all the info there. Thanks so much |

FairyGodmother: How is baby doing? Hope she's peed? You will be fine las las. Well, I bought chinko 'avent' manual pump. I bought it cos I had flat n.ipples with the intention that it will help pull out the flat n.ipples. But couldn't use it because the pain was outta dis world. I will suggest you go for double electric breast pump. I heard its quite efficient in pumping milk. Sending plenty e-hugs to ease the stress. Feel free to text me on o8ioooioo45 for more clarification. Ma, we had to give her water cos she didn't.. Even till now she neva poo.. N her mess can smell. Motherhood is not easy o.. Not finding it funny, if my hospital was close by God knows i would av been strolling there everyday with her, cos i dont undst again. Your contact number is missed up, can't reach u |

sugah: This is a picture of breastmilk stored in the fridge. The thick whitish part on top is the fat and all the nutrients and water is below it. So, No you don't need to give water to an exclusively breastfed baby. EBF can either poo after every meal or go upto 2 weeks without pooing, it's normal. However, her not peeing might mean she's not getting enough milk. So what you should do is to get a breastpump to express milk. Breastfeed her then top it up with expressed milk.
You have to eliminate the chatter..thank God its your own mother so she wouldn't feel slighted when you tell her to stop stressing you with the water issue..stress will affect your production. Ma i don tire for d whole process its so tiring, I will opt for breast pump, wch would u recommend ? D electric or manual? |

Briells: Sorry about this dear. Get someone to buy fresh palm wine for you so you can take (they should tell the person it's for a new mum, so they don't give you the one mixed with saccharine) Massage your breasts lightly with a warm towel, then massage your shoulders and back with a warm towel (by back I mean the spot your breast is behind). Your milk would start flowing few hours after you do this. I sent for d palm wine, I'm not sure it's d original one my sis bought. I took it anyways. Sincerely I'm truly bothered about my breast milk. Today makes us one 1week old, yet my breast is not responding well. My baby can be on it sucking for close to 2hrs, yet she won't be satisfied till i give her water or nan 1, n she will finish it like she was not on my breast for that long. |
