My People! I greet una. I'd like us to share the main factors that make you like or dislike the Redmi Note 12 series? It would be fantastic to share your thoughts on the key aspects, such as design, performance, camera quality, battery life, software experience, and any other factors that influence your opinion since using the device.
It seems they are some official eyes now keeping track on Nairaland. Over to you my people.
I've used redmi 7 and redmi 3 and I'd have to say that redmi note 12 is by far the worst phone I've ever used.
Apart from the physical design, it fails in almost every other metric.
The one wey dey pain me pass be say apps in the background will close in less than five minutes. Even when I was using 1gb ram Tecno, I never experienced such

I just saw Evil Dead Rise and I really liked
it.
It delivers on the things fan have come to expect from the franchise like excessive blood, gruesome kills, and of course the chainsaw. However, they've updated the setting from a cabin in the woods to a decrepit apartment.
Special mention to the grater scene (the thing shock me)

But I still prefer the 2013 version sha. I think Mia is a very compelling character.

7/10 would recommend

SpecialAdviser:
I do not subscribe that anyone should die. America started this questionable character but I think it's evil.

You live in a country. You make money in that country. You enjoy all the facilities. You date their men and women. You enjoy their food. You enjoy all the benefits.

But when war breaks out, you abbadon them. Why can't your country evacuate their citizens alongside you? Is death only meant for them. Many of them do not partake in the violence. This is my argument.
The answer is simple.
Being a citizen of a country comes with a lot of rights... And responsibilities.
Immigrants do not enjoy most of the rights that citizens enjoy, so it would be madness to expect them to also carry the same responsibility

Please can you share your experience so far, using the the note 12 4g.

And for the poor camera review and sluggishness of the miui, do you think future updates, will be able to fix that?
Do you use note 12 ?

I'm not a camera person so I can't give a review for the camera. Yea, the UI is sluggish. It takes some time for the call dialer to open and it also takes a few seconds before you can pick a call.
The message app is glitchy. Apps close after being left in the background for a few minutes.
I'm not enjoying the phone 😞
I've used redmi 3 and redmi 7 and note 12 is worse than either of them.
I just hope that an update will fix all this nonsense

This can't be true
The first picture is redmi 7 and the second is redmi note 12.
You can easily lock an app from the menu on redmi 7. Before I could even lock an app on redmi note 12 I had to go through security and even at that, the app won't stay open in the background for more than 5 mins.
I've tried a dozen methods I found on the internet but none has worked so far. I'm so fu*king tired

I no get the energy to explain this thing again so please read about it here. The answer you're looking for is in the article below, check number 2.

https://inquisitiveuniverse.com/2022/05/18/aggressive-ram-management/

If you don't want MIUI to aggressively manage your RAM, go to settings and in the search bar, type "authorization and revocation".

Enter that menu and look for battery and performance. Turn it off. Your apps should stay on for longer now but anything else when you see, manage am like that.
I didn't work.
Or do I need to restart my phone before it takes effect?

It's not the same way though.
In my redmi 7, I could just long press an app and then click on the padlock and it will lock.
But before I could lock an app on redmi note 12 I had to go through security. And even though the padlock appears on the app, it closes after a few minutes in the background.

TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Gmajor(m): 10:30am On Apr 11, 2023
Massive spoilers for a 50+ year-old movie/novel lol smiley
Two months ago, I read Mario Puzo's The Godfather, and I thought it would be fitting to see the much-acclaimed movie. I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. The Godfather is a 1969 novel written by Mario Puzo and a 1972 movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola about a Sicilian crime family in New York. It explores the theme of organized crime and how it operates, gruesome turf wars and murder, revenge, etc. It also delves into the themes of honor, bravery, and loyalty - to family and found family. The novel and movie go to great lengths to flesh out the characters and crime syndicate to the point where you come to admire these criminals by the end of the novel/movie.

The movie is one of the best novel adaptations I've ever watched. It managed to capture the heart and soul of the book in a spectacular manner. When written words are adapted to the big screen, certain elements of the story must bend to the new medium, but the filmmakers managed to handle the transformation process perfectly! They expertly walked the fine line of what needed to be added or removed to make the movie work, and I have to give them props.

The movie is over 50 years old, and I don't really like watching old films. In my opinion, their acting can be stilted, the special effects terrible (through no fault of theirs), and the shots and cinematography uninspired, etc. However, this movie holds up very well today. The acting was mostly great, with the standout being Marlon Brando (Vito Corleone), who despite talking like a chain smoker with hot yam in his cheeks, still manages to steal every scene. He is extremely charismatic, and you can buy that this man commands a lot of respect and is a Mafioso.

It's really uncanny seeing Al Pacino as a young man with a baby face. It feels so unreal.

The sets were varied and all looked great, from the lavish wedding in the beginning of the movie to the Italian countryside to Vegas. No expense was spared, even though the movie had a budget of 5 million dollars, which, fun fact, is $36,106,690.99 when adjusted for current year inflation.
I was also really shocked by how realistic the guns, muzzle shots, bullets, and bullet holes looked. There was a character who was wearing glasses and was shot in the eye, and I was blown away by how good the special effect was. It's such a shame that Nollywood movies have not caught up with 50+ year-old Hollywood movies. This just goes to show that the lack of imagination in Nollywood is really holding it back A LOT.

Fumbles:
As much as I have praised this movie, there is one comically bad scene that left me scratching my head. This was the scene where Sonny Corleone was beating up his brother-in-law. Most of the punches were nowhere near Carlo's, and it really baffled me that they didn't do another take. Kind of weird that a movie this competent would stumble over such a small hurdle.

internal dialogue

One of the things that does not translate well to the big screen when a novel is adapted is internal dialogue. It is usually very intrusive on screen and disrupts immersion. Directors and writers have to find a way around it. In some adaptations, the fact that the internal dialogue is removed is a big plus and is not missed in any way. For instance, in "50 Shades of Grey," the removal of Anna's (the female protagonist) internal dialogue makes her appear more mature and competent, as opposed to her novel version that was perpetually confounded by everything. However, in "The Godfather," the removal of internal monologue takes away a lot of the story. The novel explores characters in a way the movie could never attempt, and I would recommend the novel even if you have watched the movie.

Before watching the movie, I was excited to see how it would handle some elements of the novel, such as:

1. Racism and sexism: Usually in books/movies, racism is presented as a flaw that certain people have. But in "The Godfather," Italians are presented as racist. They casually use the N-word and are extremely prejudiced against black people. The book was set in the 1940s, so it comes as no surprise that they not only held such beliefs but were not shy to espouse them. They even used the slur "guinea," a term for darker-skinned Italians, quite a few times in the book. The sexism was also very much present because, again, this story is set in the '40s. The sexism is most notable in relation to the Corleone daughter. She gets beaten by her husband, and his father Vito Corleone dismisses it as her fault for provoking him. Vito's inaction emboldened his in-law and could be said by some to have led to the death of his son. I was curious how the movie would handle the racism, sexism, and use of slurs. And even though it is dialed down, the sentiment is still there, and I appreciate that the movie does not compromise on adapting the book as it was written. Maybe if the movie were adapted today, it would have held back on the slurs... or not. After all, Tarantino has a career.

2. The lady with the Atlantic Ocean: Lucy Mancini is the bridesmaid from the beginning of the book who wanted to have sex with Sonny because she has a unique anatomy. Even though she only plays a minor role in the novel, I found her subplot of having a huge vagina to be funny and fascinating, and I wanted to see how the movie would adapt it. Unfortunately, she only appeared in the wedding sequence.

In conclusion, The Godfather is a timeless classic that continues to captivate audiences with its masterful storytelling, unforgettable characters, and stunning cinematography. It not only defined a generation, but it also set a standard that most gangster movies today have not been able to live up to. It's a story that has managed to stand the test of time, and I would recommend the movie/novel to anyone who hasn't seen it.

The hotspot disconnect every time while using it, messages call dailer and some other system apps take a few seconds to open, if a pick a call, it takes a few seconds before I can put it in loud speaker. SMS constantly glitches out.

UPDATE
After my redmi9t shut down (deadboot) yesterday, I decided to drain the battery 🔋 by pressing down the power button and using a rubber band to hold it in place. I left it like that for several hours. I could tell the battery was really draining cuz the phone was mildly warm as it would when in use for an extended period.
I woke up at 2:30am, removed the band I used to hold down the power button and tried to power up the device, lo and behold the phone powered up and started running the update.
My redmi9t is now up and running.
