Dark October.

I watched a recap because I no go subject myself to Naija film unless e worth am. Anybody who complains that Linda Ikeji exploited the story is an enemy of progress. I found it hard to believe both sides of the divide were touched in the movie. The average Nigerian will rather demonize the community as a whole for what happened. If the parents manage to watch this, they will feel relieved that their sons were documented semi positively in their final days of existence. Linda has played her part in making the series of incidents mainstream. Our government is useless and will do nothing regarding jungle justice because it doesnā€™t affect them. Make poor man continue to kill poor man. E no fit spoil their cash flow.

Why the f*ck would you even say that?

Black Panther: WF. 9/10.

My internet was acting up so I clicked this to test my connection. I was entertained from start to finish.

I long concluded that people on the internet are timid individuals whose words are both unneeded and irrelevant in real world conversations. This makes them lash out by posting vitriol whenever triggered over something. Marvel movies are mainstream. They are prone to receiving the ire of incels. See CrossFit, ā€œjunkā€ food, the LGBTQ, black rights and many others for example. I will view films henceforth with an open mind free from prior criticism. What matters in the end is if one was entertained.

Costumes: A+.

Soundtrack: A+.

Story: A+. I could suggest a little here and there, but I am not a movie writer.

Pacing: A. The movie was two hours and thirty minutes. It felt a little over ninety minutes to me.

VFX: Okay. Digital elephants were unnecessary since real ones could be used. Maybe CGI was cheaper in that aspect. With Avatar perfecting acting in water, we may experience realistically grounded Talokans in the next movie. Then again, James Cameron has utilized underwater acting since times-before-many-here-were-born and the method still isnā€™t mainstream.

Two things which pulled me out were:

1. ā€œImperious Rex.ā€ This was dumb. I know Coogan yielded to pressure from higher ups to include it. Yes, it is Namorā€™s battle cry. However, in this iteration, heā€™s a fourteenth century Mayan. He literally predated archeology. Wait till another appearance where heā€™ll pick the phrase after experiencing the modern world.

2. Tā€™Challa Jnr. Highly unnecessary. It was hinted in the first movie that a relationship had long sailed between Nakai and Tā€™Challa. This character was shoehorned for an in case reason.

I regretted not watching this in the cinema.

The director could explain Tā€™Challaā€™s death as vibranium poisoning. In real life strange occurrences take place. I donā€™t see why the MCU would prove any different. Adamantium poisoning worked unopposed in Logan.

Vibranum poisoning wouldn't make sense though.
There has been many Black Panthers before, so if Vibranum was poisonous, it would have been common knowledge considering the level of technology.

Also hiding T'chala Jnr in a shit hole like Haiti doesn't make sense.
Like, who are they hiding him from?
Why would anyone think it's best to raise a future leader away from his people?

The matrix Resurrection is 7/10 for me.

It's nice to have a feel of the matrix again.
Totally enjoyed the movie, honestly i have no complain.
The fight scenes and everything were perfect, there is something very likeable about the trinity character, like you just want to be seeing her on the screen always, seeing her gave me nostalgic feelings about the First matrix movie.

The new asian actress played her role well too and it's nice to see some new faces, i hope this isn't the last of the matrix.
We need atleast one more again.
wow!
I cant believe that some people unironically enjoyed this movie

Well + and - everything, I think the movie deserves a C. Thor Love and Thunder along with Black Adam are still the worst comic book movies I had to endure in 2022. Spider-Man No Way Home still has the throne in Phase 4.

Morbius was released last year nah. are these movies worse than Morbius?

Unpopular opinion

Wakanda Forever is better than Black Panther 1.
I didn't really enjoy the first BB and I thought it was very mid. However, saying that Wakanda Forever is better than BB is not high praise.
most marvel movies and series in phase 4 are just stale, unfunny, poorly paced, poorly written garbage and this is a marvel movie in phase 4, so as they say, a snake must always get birth to something long.
The goods
the acting was mostly good, the cinematography was competent. Atlantis looked cool. The backstory for Atlantis was also good. Namor was also an interesting character and antagonist.

The not so goods
like a typical marvel movie, a lot of things don't really make a lot of sense
like;
why t'chala would keep his sickness to himself. That makes absolutely no sense
why would he also try to hide his bastard son. Who is he hiding him from? also, why wasn't Shuri aware? I know the queen was about to tell her before Namor arrived, but still, why is she just finding out?
etc etc. you get the point.

I also find it incredibly funny that the most fearsome army in the world uses spares to fight and can't easily defeat a primitive army even with the healing factor taken into consideration.
heck, even Lupita killed one of them using some sort of gun with one shot.

5.5/10

RE: Horrible Bosses (2011)

"Slapstick comedy gold"

I miss the era of slapstick comedy flicks with shitty critic ratings and Horrible Bosses is one of the finest.

It set out as 3 friends with horrible bosses and the only solution they came up with was to eliminate these bosses. What followed is a series of comical manuvers that will keep you giggling throughout šŸ˜.

With Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, and Jason Bateman starring with support from Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, Collin ferrell and Jamie Foxx, it was actually an ensemble cast.

They don't make comedy movies like this anymore, totally miss this era.
I don't think this movie is slap stick comedy

Wish i could be like you! Leisure reading has become herculean for me.šŸ˜

This year I made a promise to myself to read at least one book a month.
The first book I wanted to read was The Three Body Problem. I tried looking for a place to buy it online, but it was only available in foreign shops and the price was over 14k minus shipping. E-books were out of the question, because I no longer enjoy staring at text on a screen for long periods of time
I later stumbled on the audio book on YouTube, and it struck me that this was a perfect alternative.
I could listen to it to and fro work and at any time I had a break in between work. I could also listen to it when I was doing other mindless tasks.
The God father I finished "reading" this morning was also an audio book

the books are masterpieces...

I only read the first book and it's on my all time list of beat novels I've ever seen...
Including some Sydney Sheldon

Mario Puzo and Sydney Sheldon write in similar ways imo

Anyway the movie is a masterpiece...same as the Novel

If you read novels, you should check out James Hadley Chase novels and Sydney Sheldon novels

I've read all of Sheldon and almost all of JHC

Have you read Chances by Jackie Collins?

Mario Puzo's The Godfather (1972)

Look how they massacred my boy!

I copped a remastered version of this mobster cult classic recently and i am reminded once again why this is such an all time gem.

It faithfully tells a story about the Corleone family, a scilian mafia family in New york headed by Don Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brando and i don't think they could have casted the character better, his voice sounding like he had a gum in it all through and his mannerism can never be duplicated and he duly bagged an oscar for the role which he sadly declined in protest.

At the centre of the Corleone family is a budding Michael Corleone played by a very young Al Pacino, whose descent into the mobster ways of the family comes from a place not so evil. He starts by just wanting to protect his family, then begins to justify actions against crooked cops and vicious mobsters. That slippery slope, that corruption of purity, it's a tale as old as time, the original sin if you will. The Godfather tells this over an extended time period. It is not a film of constant movement, it is one of set pieces with huge jumps in between. Every moment counts. Every shot is among the greatest of all time. Every scene avoids patronising or insulting the audience. It is all excellent. The final act sees Micheal Corleone been handed the riens of the family as "Don". The scene that morphed him into the dark side completely was a thing of cinematic beauty, Two scenes juxtaposing each other, One of the scene shows Michael Corleone literally renouncing the Devil in Church and the other scene showing his caporegime eliminating the five dons of the other mafia families and all the other enemies of the Corleone family on his orders. The scenes were creatively poetic as it was religiously devilish!.

For that era, The cast, the score, the cinematography , set design and costume were just too good, laid the marker for future mobster flick to come...Peak cinematic feature if you will! and it has a score of 100% on one of the most ruthless critic panels ever, Metacritic, and That says alot!

I just finished reading the novel this morning.
The story makes crime so enticing. Lol

Too many of these late stage liberals are ironically binary minded. Our way or nothing. They refuse to come to terms with the fact that so many things are a spectrum. Very few liberals my age can make any sense out of they/them non binary / genderfluid and the alpabteth mafia capturing more letters than a sesame street episode.

Anyone who has read thew entire Harry Potter series would see the wokeness overflowing from the books. But here we are today. Jk Rowling is not down with transsexuals so burn the witch and her books!

the Harry Potter books is many things, but I wouldn't consider it to be woke. unless you consider banal sh*t like ''discrimination is bad/ slavery is bad'' to be woke
