Activists from #BringBackOurGirls movement have written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In their letter, the signatories from Nigeria, the US, New Zealand and Italy, say the two recent kidnappings of students underscore "terrifying trend of lawlessness and vulnerability" in Nigerian schools.
They add that although fifty students have escaped, hundreds are still in captivity and families are living in anguish.
The group decries the closure of schools in what it describes as Nigeria’s most educationally challenged region.
It says that these incidents are “not isolated tragedies - they are part of a systemic failure spanning over 11 years. Since the Chibok abduction of 276 girls in April 2014, Nigeria has witnessed at least 1,800 students kidnapped in a relentless cycle of terror".
A woman in Thailand shocked temple staff when she started moving in her coffin after being brought in for cremation.
Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist temple in the province of Nonthaburi on the outskirts of Bangkok, posted a video on its Facebook page, showing a woman lying in a white coffin in the back of a pickup truck, slightly moving her arms and head, leaving temple staff bewildered.
Pairat Soodthoop, the temple’s general and financial affairs manager, told The Associated Press on Monday that the 65-year-old woman’s brother drove her from the province of Phitsanulok to be cremated
He said they heard a faint knock coming from the coffin.
“I was a bit surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin, and everyone was startled,” he said. “I saw her opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She must have been knocking for quite some time.”
According to Pairat, the brother said his sister had been bedridden for about two years, when her health deteriorated and she became unresponsive, appearing to stop breathing two days ago. The brother then placed her in a coffin and made the 300-mile journey to a hospital in Bangkok, to which the woman had previously expressed a wish to donate her organs.
The hospital refused to accept the brother’s offer as he didn’t have an official death certificate, Pairat said. His temple offers a free cremation service, which is why the brother approached them Sunday, but was also refused because of the missing document.
The temple manager said that while he was explaining how to get a death certificate when they heard the knocking. They then assessed her and sent her to a nearby hospital.
The abbot said the temple would cover her medical expenses, according to Pairat

Yobe State Police Command said it has noted with great concern the rising cases of desecration of graves in the state.
The latest incident occurred in Potiskum when the Divisional Police Headquarters in the town received a distress call from community members reporting that unknown persons had trespassed into the Nahuta graveyard and exhumed the grave of a child, and escaped with the corpse.
The Command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, expressed deep concern over the alarming and emerging trend.
It recalled that earlier this month, a similar grave desecration incident occurred in Jakusko LGA, where efforts to track down the suspects remain ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, strongly condemns these heinous and barbaric acts, describing them as nefarious and unacceptable.
“The CP has directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify surveillance, strengthen patrols around cemeteries, and ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators”, the statement noted.
The Police Commissioner further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the Police by providing credible information that would aid in apprehending those behind the criminal acts.

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has ordered all private and public secondary schools in the state to immediately deboard their students in response to rising insecurity across the country.
The directive was announced in a statement on Friday, signed by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin.
According to the statement, the escalating security challenges nationwide have made boarding students in both public and private secondary schools potential targets for kidnappers, referencing the recent abductions of students in Kebbi and Niger states.
Godwin said the governor has directed that all secondary schools, public and private, operate strictly as day schools until further notice.
She added that principals and school proprietors have been instructed to deboard all students without delay.
“In light of the current circumstances, Governor Kefas has issued a directive requiring all secondary schools, both public and private, to function exclusively as day schools for the time being. Principals and school owners have been advised to promptly arrange for the deboarding of all students,” the statement added
The measure, she explained, is a proactive step aimed at safeguarding students’ lives and preventing any security breaches linked to the growing unrest in the region.
Godwin said the state government has assured parents of its commitment to restoring stability and promised to continue working closely with security agencies to address the situation.
She stated that school authorities have also been urged to comply fully with the directive and enhance vigilance within their premises.
On Friday, several students from St. Mary’s School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, were kidnapped by terrorists. Details of the attack remain unclear, but according to Daily Trust, multiple sources said several students were taken during the midnight raid.
The incident comes just days after a similar attack in Maga, Kebbi State, where 25 students were kidnapped, heightening concerns over the deteriorating security situation in educational institutions across the region.
State of emergency should be declared in all the 36 states and FCT, it appears our military cannot handle the current security situation, it is frightening, nobody is safe anymore
We all know she needs help. You saw things firsthand" AGN chairman, Emeka Rollas finally breaks silence on Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko's marriage crisis
OFFICIAL STATEMENT TO THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AND THE NIGERIAN PUBLIC
My dear colleagues in the entertainment industry, stakeholders, and fellow Nigerians, As I prepare to leave office, I believe it is important to address the many allegations, misconceptions, and unnecessary accusations that have been circulating. I owe it to myself, to the Guild, and to the public to speak the truth clearly and responsibly.
1. *On Prince Ned Nwoko & Regina Daniels*
Let me begin with the matter many have been tagging me to respond to.
Prince Ned Nwoko is the *Chairman, Board of Patrons, AGN*, and Regina Daniels is a *member of the Guild*. Regina and her mother are also personally known to me, and because this is fundamentally a family issue, I have been deliberately silent not out of fear, but out of respect.
However, as the President of AGN, and since my name is constantly being dragged, I must state my truth.
2. *Silence of the Industry & the Board of Trustees*
For years, the *Board of Trustees* has allowed me to stand at the frontline of battles, while they protect their reputations from behind. Many senior colleagues know the truth surrounding recent events, yet they have remained silent.
I am calling on those who were present at the last series shoot and fully aware of what is happening *Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji* you were all on set during the last production in question. You saw things firsthand, especially regarding Regina and we all know she needs help. Your silence is unfair, and it leaves me exposed to attacks for matters I did not create.
3. *The South Africa Roundtable and the Condition Given*
While we were planning our roundtable meeting in South Africa, Senator Nwoko called me personally and gave a condition *that he would only allow Regina to travel if I promised she doesn't travel through Lagos. This is a fact, and I state it because it has been twisted against me repeatedly.
4. *What Happened on Her Son’s Birthday*
On the day of your son’s birthday, Regina by the staircase of a popular kids playground in wuse 2 and in the presence of your friends and also a few AGN members Agility, Nazareth Jesse, and some of my SSA, your husband made a statement to you regarding your smoking habit when you introduced a senator daughter who had female kids to him In his words *if you stop smoking you'll have your own daughter* He expressed concern and said publicly that he has involved your family and is now saying it in front of your father in the industry since you refused to stop. This incident was witnessed, it is not hearsay.
My concern here is not to shame you, NO, My concern is that *you need help*, Many of our members have gotten help before you which the Guild was instrumental to. It is not a crime to seek support. I hate it when mature individuals in the Industry call me from behind, say trash about but won't be man enough to confront you with the reality.
5. *To Your Mother... Rita Daniel*
I say this respectfully, If your daughter’s home and health is in distress, AGN elections should not be your priority. Our Guild must be a safe place, and when people in leadership positions openly justify harmful habits as “a celebrity lifestyle,” it puts our younger members at risk. All those people cheering you up to go become AGN President are your enemies. And all those celebs who know this truth but chose to heap blames on Emeka Rollas are worse enemies of our Guild.
6. *To Our Chairman Board of Patrons, Prince Ned Nwoko*
Sir, you are not without blame. It is not good for a man of your status to go on social media and publicly call out your wife in something I still believe can be handled internally. I still believe there are better ways to do it.
Also, sir, several false narratives about the Guild spread without correction Regina and her mother have repeatedly claimed that you funded AGN, rented and furnished the office, and donated ₦200 million to the Guild. At our office launch, you said the ₦200 million was for your wife not for *AGN* The misinformation circulating everywhere are part of the burden I m carrying, trying to explain
N200 million. You should have let people know it's money you gave to your wife for her film production and not to the Guild
7. For the BOT members and some enemies of AGN who have refused to acknowledge the massive work we have done for the Guild in the last 8 but are clamoring that my tenure is over, let it be known today that there has not been any AGN President who conducted elections as at when due, and that no AGN President has successful convened a Congress where all state chapters convened in one venue. Only my administration has done this twice successfully in Uyo Akwa Ibom and Benin Edo state respectively. To converge state chapters for a conventions the Guild needs a lot of millions of Naira and I have achieved this repeatedly without the help of anybody. The AGN convention has been fixed for the first week of December and nobody dead or alive can change it. With the above, I shall resist any person or group of persons who will rise up tomorrow with any attempt to truncate the transition process with a flimsy excuse of tenure elapse. I will not mention what will befall such persons but just know I am not a push over.
7. *My Final WORD AS WE PREPARE FOR THE ELECTIONS
This is my truth. I am speaking now because people keep dragging my name, and the silence of stakeholders is also not helping matters
If people choose to remain quiet because of the benefits they hope to receive, then I choose to clear my name, as I owe myself that dignity.
I kindly ask that *no one calls me privately about this statement*. I have carried many burdens quietly for years, but I will not allow false accusations to stain my legacy.
I have served with my whole heart, and I will leave with my integrity intact.
*Thank you, and God bless the Nigerian entertainment industry.*
*A.G.N...Progress*!!! *A.G.N...Progress*!!! *A.G. and N...The show must go on*!!!
I like the fact that the killings in Nigeria is finally getting global attention, thanks to Nicki Minaj for being the voice of the voiceless in Benue, plateau and across the nation
Though I'm not a fan of Donald trump, but his claims whether true or false has already embarrassed our country and will certainly force our politicians and the military to work harder
American rapper Nicki Minaj spoke at a United Nations event in New York, addressing reports of attacks on religious communities in Nigeria. She called for global attention and protection for all people to practice their faith safely, emphasizing unity and peace. Minaj also praised interfaith leaders and peace advocates working to promote security and harmony across communities.
