Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has embarked on a massive project that will be admired by all despite being a military dictator, he's a visionary leader. The new capital will be built as a smart city. It is planned that the transfer of parliament, presidential palaces, government ministries and foreign embassies will be completed between 2020 and 2022, at a cost of USD 45 billion. A full cost and timescale for the overall project has not been disclosed. The crisis in Ethiopia is a "stain on our conscience," the united nations humanitarian chief said, as children and others starve to death in the tigray region under what the U.N. has called a de facto government blockade of food, medical supplies and fuel. Martin Griffiths issued one of the most sharply worded criticisms yet of the world's worst hunger crisis in a decade after nearly a year of war, in an interview with The Associated Press Memories of the 1980s famine in Ethiopia, which killed some 1 million people and whose images shocked the world, are vivid in his mind, "and we fervently hope is not happening at present," he said. He described a landscape of deprivation inside Tigray, where the malnutrition rate is now over 22 percent — "roughly the same as we saw in Somalia in 2011 at the start of the Somali famine" which killed more than a quarter-million people. The war in Ethiopia began last November on the brink of harvest in Tigray, and the U.N. has said at least half of the coming harvest will fail. Witnesses have said Ethiopian and allied forces destroyed or looted food. Meanwhile just 10 percent of needed humanitarian supplies have been reaching Tigray in recent weeks, Griffiths said. "So people have been eating roots and flowers and plants instead of a normal steady meal," he said. "The lack of food will mean that people will start to die. Last week the AP, citing witness accounts and internal documents, reported the first starvation deaths since Ethiopia's government imposed the blockade on the region of 6 million people in an attempt to keep support from reaching Tigray forces. Aidejay:Nigeria has never been this polarized |
Neddstark:Our leaders have not learnt anything |
awesonjr:Too bad bro |
Endsars protest was beyond police brutality in Nigeria, it was more of years of economic hardship, corruption and maladministration at all levels of our government coupled with public discontent on government poor handling of covid 19 palliatives that weren't given to hungry Nigerians at the time. The frustration, displeasure and dissatisfaction then quickly turned into impetus and dynamism behind the unprecedented protest that spiralled out of control with a lot of destruction and looting across Nigeria, it was eventually extirpated after much depredations, government had to intervene to restore law and order from the hijackers. The lekki toll gate incident that occurred when soldiers shot dead unspecified number of protesters was another reason behind the tempest then, it aggravated the whole situation with the burning of government property and some houses of politicians that many Nigerians believe are the reason for our underdevelopment, it spread like wildfire. The uncoordinated nature of it even made it more difficult for government to initiate dialogue, Nigerians didn't want anyone to claim glory of the situation and disappoint them by cancelling the protest without their knowledge and approbation. The protest succeeded to some extent as the government eventually heeded their voices and announced the disbandment of the deadly police unit notorious for wrongdoings, policemen disappeared from our roads for weeks then, soldiers had to protect police stations from being burnt down by hoodlums that later hijacked the protest, several policemen were killed, vehicles and stations set ablaze. Sadly nothing has changed on the part of government, Nigerians are still faced with several challenges, it is business as usual. Innocent protesters that were killed by security forces during that protest are heroes in our minds, they will never be forgotten, we mourn them everyday and pray that God give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. One day this nation will surely rise up Read more on my site. https://www.facebook.com/101218575692807/posts/101913905623274/?app=fbl

Toosure70:As for me oo, I want to die a natural death |
Earlystar698:I know that America is still ahead of China in many ways, but the gap is fast closing and that's the real challenge here. US still has air and sea dominance with a staggering military budget of over $700 billion compared to China's $200 billion annually. America has close to 1,000 military bases all over the world with a network of alliances in Europe, Asia, north and south America, and the world leading economy as well. Hypersonic missiles are game changer in modern warfare since they travel five times than the speed of sound and are hard to detect due to their zigzag movement |
basty:The most surprising thing here is that America spends over $700 billion on its military yearly compared to China's $200 billion |
Earlystar698:Stop trying to downplay China's military capabilities, that's the same mistake America has made over the years. |
Righteousness2:Lol |
JOACHINpedro:The whole thing is terrifying |
China tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile that flew round the earth before speeding towards its target, catching US intelligence services by surprise, it was reported. The technology demonstrates an advanced space capability showing China’s progress on hypersonic weaponry to be far more developed than US officials realised, according to the Financial Times. This is a clear message to US over Taiwan, China's technological advancement is something that baffles the west You can watch the video on my site through this link https://www.facebook.com/100011226887904/posts/1489372418113640/?app=fbl
