Getting married is simple. It’s a no brainer. People do it all the time. But to stay in marriage? That’s where the real work starts. Everyday, people get married, take spectacular and glossy pictures at beautiful weddings with incredible cakes only to announce a divorce later. In the United States alone, about 50% of marriages end up hitting the rocks and as you are reading this, some are already throwing their wedding rings into the River Nile. Why? What are the marriage mistakes you should not make? How can you make sure your marriage does not only work, stay intact but also gives you the joy and happiness you’d imagined before saying ‘I do’? i have brought you this special marriage-themed piece. How about calling your better half and reading it together? Ready? Let’s roll! 1. DO NOT ASSUME Okay, this is one thing both parties are guilty of. Many assume too much! He assume she knows. She assumes too. And that’s where the trouble starts. Fine, you’ve dated for a while and it seems like you’ve known yourselves for all of eternity. But wake up, you don’t! You are still discovering and rediscovering many things. Communicate with your partner. Let him know you are not enjoying the sex. Let her know you are not too comfortable with her shabbiness and gossip. But if you are getting married to Linda Ikeji, you need to love the gossip part. I do! Communicate. Talk. Discuss. Gist. Carefully and reasonably. Especially when it comes to money, sex, retirement and your religious beliefs (and maybe inlaws). Never assume. It can be dangerous. If you will be having a mood swing, talk. 2. TALK USING THE RIGHT VOICE TONE -OR KEEP QUIET Remember the last time your dad scowled at you for sneaking to a high school party? The tone of his angry words, right? Very unpleasant. Human vocalization is a very tremendous aspect of communication but many couples seem to forget this and shout, hurl insults, abuses and criticisms at their partners. You see their eyes as red as the embers of Hell. Remember that it is not always what you say that matters but HOW you say it. When angry and you know the next words will not be nice, keep quiet. Always taste your words before you spit them out. Let your Lover see a smiling face when she thinks of you and not a frowning face with the voice of an armed robber. Okay, that makes 2. 3. NEGLECTING SEX I cannot emphasize how dangerous this can be. One of the luxuries of marriage is having unfettered enjoyment and cruise on the sexual highway. (Coughs) Neglecting sex does not necessarily mean you are declining his offers. It can also mean you are not taking good care of yourself anymore. Now you look dirty, unwashed and smelling your armpit is suicide. How can there be any pre-intimacy like that? Take time to look good. Groom yourself biko. Especially if you are lady (I’m not saying guys should now start looking like bricklayers or mechanics, shoye (you understand)?). The body and looks you had at 21 will not be the same at 35 if you decide to look like a housegirl rather than a Mrs. Tidy yourself up. As they say in Nigeria, it is all about packaging. 4. FORGETTING TO CHERISH EACH OTHER In this fast-paced world of jobs and stress, it’s quite easy to start losing that special touch you once had during the olomoge (when you were much younger) days. Particularly when the kids have come and you are now battling with the responsibilities of a parent. She now has stretch marks, jowls of fat, varicose veins and he is already greying with a potbelly. You both look pitiful. That is when you need to start working on it again. A good marriage does not sustain itself. It needs WORK -from both parties. Cherish yourselves, go out for dinners, tour the park, flirt, tease, laugh, play games, watch movies, serve food in bed, hold hands, listen to your partner, watch old pictures and spend the entire day together. Bring back the charm. Age is but a number. 5. NOT GETTING PREPARED FOR CHALLENGES Marriage is not going to be all sweet. That is why it is not called the honeymoon. But it is not an eclipse either. A stage will come when you will just feel overwhelmed, disenchanted, caged or even frustrated with either your partner or the new experience. Did you know that even after years of marriage, Barack and Michelle Obama actually once considered divorce? Michelle was prepared to sign the divorce papers. Her mind was made up. She was tired. He was also disenchanted. But they managed to rekindle the love again and you and I know better now. What I’m saying is this: marriage is not always a bed of roses (even roses have thorns, shey?), be tough and ready your mind for all kinds of obstacles. But just know one thing: you will conquer. Just like millions across the globe. 6. NAG. NAG. AND WHAT? NAG. Oh! He has left his smelly socks on the bed again and has refused to flush the toilet. She has not stopped accusing you of being too close to your secretary. We all nag. But if you want your marriage to last longer than the fireworks you used during the wedding night, minimize nagging. It is killing. Try your best to pass your complains in a very civilized and understandable way. If he or she fails to get it, register your displeasure while not losing your cool. Do not make him feel like he has committed more evil than Adolf Hitler and Abacha combined simply because he has dumped his dirty clothes in one corner of the bedroom -again. 7. TAKING YOUR PARTNER FOR GRANTED Well, you are now married, right? She can’t leave you again and he is now your man forever, abi? You are wrong. She can leave you in the blink of an eye and he can marry someone else faster than you can ping or spell your name. It is very easy for couples to become relaxed (only if people can put just half of the efforts they put into their classy weddings into their marriages) and start taking one another for granted. Appreciate the little things. A marriage is a garden. If watered and tendered regularly, you enjoy the view and you will see the flowers bloom. Neglect it and pests and weeds take over. Say thank you even if what she bought for you was a toothbrush. Say thank you and mean it. Tell her she’s beautiful. Adjust her dress (or bra straps, comot there!) for her (forget the fact you’ve been married for 20 years) and tell him he looks good (even though he can look like a plumber atimes…lol!). Never take your partner for granted. Leave Twitter and chat with him. Forget Facebook for now and do not take anything else above your partner. Not even your friends. Or kids. 8. CRITICIZE AND COMPARE. Good. He doesn’t make enough money. He doesn’t have a good job. There are better men (stop thinking of Paddy Adenuga, will you!) out there who are more ‘manly’ and ‘care’ for their families. Nice, She’s a lousy wife. Spoilt brat. Bad mother. Worst cook in the Universe. Romantically dead. She has poisoned the soup with too much iru (locust beans)and salt again. Ha! Whew! If you want to see your marriage die before your very eyes, just keep doing this everyday: criticizing and comparing. Tell him you made the worst mistake of your life marrying the bald-headed, good-for-nothing, penniless wrench. Tell her that you didn’t know what you were thinking when you walked her down the altar (or is aisle?). You are only digging the grave of your matrimonial home. Desist from bitter criticisms and never compare your spouse with anyone (not even ________fill in the gap yourself!). Correct with love. With affection. With smiles. No one is perfect -and that includes you and your spouse. Do not listen to reply instantly, listen to understand. Then give kind and reassuring replies. 9. KEEPING MALICE AND BRINGING UP DEAD ISSUES. Allllllllright. She told you of her dirty past on the campus and how she was coaxed into having an abortion with her former lover, right? You don’t have to tongue lash her every now and then about that. The past is gone, let it remain there. That your lover told you something dark and shameful about his or her past reflects the amount of trust, respect, love and confidence reposed in you, do not betray it. And is it not senseless to you to keep malice with your wife for days? Spit it out, carefully. Let her know she hurt you and not kill her with your stoic silence, ignoring her well-cooked meals (who do you think you are punishing turning down that spicy nkwobi soup? Shior!) -and those wicked moustache-flavoured looks of yours behind the newspaper. It is painful. And yeah, the kids don’t like it too either. 10. PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF MADNESS (PDM) Cruising to the market, you saw your husband, with a pretty damsel in his car. Next thing, you park on the wrong side of the road, did not even switch off the engine, left the keys dangling, re-tie your wrapper, remove the tapanpa (special colorful headgear used by Nigerian women) you took three hours to make and off flew your shoes! The next sound was the stinging slap you landed on her face (thank your stars if she’s not a female soldier with the Nigerian Army). You just concluded she’s been sleeping with your Prince Charming. Calm down Madam. Such acts will only make you lose value before the very person you are fighting for. Passersby will be thinking ‘abi were ni woman yii ni (has this woman gone crazy)? ‘If there is anything you find suspicious, discuss with him, he is your husband and you are his wife. Wife. Not mistress (be his mistress on the bed sha). You too, never insult her in public (or private) or do disgraceful things in the full glare of everyone (falling into gutters after getting stone drunk). Respect yourself and your marriage always (do not be the busybody of the adugbo (neighborhood)). The marital union is sacred. Do not stifle your matrimony to death with incurable insecurity and peppery jealousy. 11. WITHOLDING SEX OR MAKING A MESS OF IT For what? Before you do that, just remember that it is now cheaper than pure water. You don’t have to punish yourselves over your imperfections. You can still have the intercourse and still frown your face abi….lmao! Do not use sex as a weapon of terror, tyranny and dictatorship in a marriage (you be Mobutu ni?), you will only end up burning yourself. Spoil yourselves with sex and if there is anything you will be very generous with, let it be those acrobatic displays in the middle of the night. Shhhhh! We are talking of married couples. Have a fantastic sex life, be adventurous. Read books, see your doctor, learn, use all tips and techniques to ensure you really reach heaven right here on earth. Make it real fun -and not on the bed ALL the time. And do not be selfish, you know what I mean. If you don’t, go and get married jooor. 12. ALWAYS RIGHT, EXTREMELY STUBBORN AND NEVER SAYS SORRY If you have any or all of these satanic traits, your marriage stands a high risk of falling apart unless you are married to Mahatma Gandhi. Ok, or Nelson Mandela. You are not always right, accept your mistakes when you are wrong and agree for the sake of peace. Afterall, no one pays you for arguments. You only end up losing your voice and writing your name in his bad books. There is one thing my Partner and I practice: we never look at who is wrong but WHAT is wrong. You can also try that out instead of accusing each other and trading blames as if you are on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Always respect individual opinions on various subjects instead of telling her to shut the hell up. I need to shut up now. Like she’s coming… THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. IYANIWURA. http://iyaniwura.com/12-mistakes-married-women-men-make/ I hope you enjoyed it!
|
Either way is good. But there are situations when one is more suitable than the other. For example,you can‘t be praying at night in your home with loud voice,that will only call unnecessary attention. Personally,I believe in praying solemnly when alone and praying as directed by the one leading the pray when with a congregation,though I pray solemnly atimes when the pray seems secretive. Praying loudly when with congregation helps atimes to revive others who might not be so spiritually matured and curb all chances of sleeping or wandering of minds.
Praying loudly increases the level of concentration, no wandering of minds, it is so direct and powerful. Try it. God bless you. God2man. |

It is the ability to tolerate delay. The wife of the G.O of a popular church was barren for 15yrs, and when people that having the same problem came to his church, they would always put to bed. This same man of God eventually put to bed a bouncing baby boy after passing through a rigourous period of criticsm, mockings, disgrace for about 15yrs. He prayed for people and they gave testimonies but he could not give any testimony. It is like somebody plucking fruits from a mango tree but could not taste from the fruit. What an irony! Jesus never promised us a problem free life, he said: we will have tribulation in this life, he made another counter promise: we should rejoice because he has overcome the world. Recently, i watched another version of the film " Pilgrim Progress" written by the late John Bunyan. This one is different from the old film of the "Pilgrim Progress", they made it better and more interesting. The christian encountered various confrontations, attacks, discouragement, deception, and so on. The film is enough to explain what the christian life is all about. If you are a christian and you want to make heaven, i recommend this NEW film or a dream(it was actually a divine dream) written by the late John bunyan many years ago for you to watch. The Bible will never leave us in the dark on what we are to face on our journey to the celestial city. Joseph was a perfect example. Joseph was 17yrs old when he dreamed about his greatness, the dream was strange, he made a terrible mistake of revealing his dream to his brethren and they hated him the more. His brethren made life diifficult for him, infact, they wanted to kill him, it was God that saved him. In Genesis 41:46a " And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh King of Egypt" Joseph became the prime minister in Egypt at the age of 30. Mathematically, Joseph was in Egypt for 13yrs. It means that before the dream of Joseph could manifest it took more than 13yrs. Ladies and gentlemen, delay is not denial.God will never come too late. In his own appointed time, he wiil surely bring those promises to fulfiiment. The question is: are you willing to wait? Do you have the patience? Can you endure the period of pains and hardship? The period when satan is expecting us to curse God and die, like the wife of Job told him to curse God and die. Let's read, Job 2:9 "Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God and die" Brethren in the Lord, this is not the period of cursing God, it is not the time to become bitter against parents, children, friends or against the Government of Nigeria. It is not the time to backslide and become lukewarm towards the things of God. We are not expected to confess negatively, by saying, "things are not going to get better" nothing works for me" " i don't think prayer will some my problem, i need to see the herbalist" " nobody cares" What you see is what you get. If you say what you see, you will get it. What is faith? Hebrew 11:1 " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" God is expecting you to say good things about yourself. Let the weak say i am strong. This is the time to hear from God on what to do. I believe the holyspirt will comfort you in the period of hardship. What you need to do is to jump up and start praising the Lord like Paul and silas did inside the prison. When you begin to do that you are disgracing the devil. God will surely do something about your case. Why the delay? Deuteronomy 8:2 " And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know WHAT WAS IN THINE HEART, WHETHER THOU WOULDEST KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, OR NO" James 1:2-4 " My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. BUT LET PATIENCE HAVE HER PERFECT WORK, THAT YE MAY BE PERFECT AND ENTIRE, WANTING NOTHING" Patience does not mean doing nothing, it means we need to continue to endure and tolerate the hardship by doing the will of the Lord more than ever before, oh! Yes, you have done what you are suppose to do, but you need to remain focus and constitent in your walk with the Lord. The breakthrough is near. Pray hard. Ask for his mercy. Sacrifice more. Praise him. Worship God. Hear this: 1 Corinthian 10:13 " There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is FAITHFUL, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able: but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" Heaven will always back you when you are in the centre of God's will. If you cover your sins, and you refuse to forsake them then your heaven will remain close. Proverb 28:13 " He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy" God bless you. God2man. |
@Highyo,Great post. God bless you. God2man |
mckayne: The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.God bless you for this inspirational topic. God2man. |
Brethren, let's look back from January to December, think deeply of the goodness of the Lord and be appreciative of those things the Lord has done for us, especially for keeping us alive. Remember, we are here by his mercy, if the Lord should mark iniquity, who shall stand? Let's give praises to God. It is important. God is waiting. God bless you. God2man. |
Brethren, let's sing some Chrisian warfare hymns as a reminder: Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before! Christ, the royal Master, Leads against the foe; Forward into battle see his banners go! Another hymn, Christian, seek not yet repose. Hear thy guardian Angel say; 'Thou art in the Midst of FOES: Watch and pray. Principalities and Powers, Mustering their unseen array, Wait for thy unguarded hours: Watch and Pray. Gird thy heavenly armour on, Wear it ever, night and day; Ambush lies the evil one: Watch and pray! Few years ago, when i was living in a "face me" and "face you" rented apartment, i was a tenant then, i prayed with my wife before going to sleep that particular night. Then we went to sleep. Then something happened, i saw a demonic power with a weapon like a spear, coming to attack me with the spear, my spirit withstood him in the spiritual realm and by God's grace, not by my power, i broke the spear in his hand and the Lord gave me victory over the demonic power. why did demonic power come to my room? Of course, to kill, steal and to destroy, According to John 10:10" The thief(the devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy" A couple came for counselling to see a man of God to settle a dispute, God opened the eye of the man of God to see this couple in a high level giving money to people and they were thanking them, the man of God also saw in that revelation, evil powers firing arrows against this family. The man of God told them to do what God has appointed them to do, and not to be fighting each other. What am i saying here? I am warning christians that the enemy or the devil has written a very Big inscription our foreheads "WANTED". Jesus warned; Matthew 26:41a "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation" There is a deadly, dangerous and terrible spiritual war going on against the christians everyday. It is a wrestling match. Yes! That's how Paul described it, in Ephesian 6:12 " For we wresle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" Wrestling match has no respect for any part of your body, it is aggressive, tactical, and fatal. Christians are not expected to fight human beings, that is flesh and blood, infact, anywhere you see flesh and blood in the Bible, it means human beings, the natural man. The devil understand this principle, so he introduced, the devil incarnate, devil in human form to confuse the saint and accuse them before the Lord. If a christian is not careful, he may sin against the Lord by fighting human being. This type of warfare can only be won by the leading of the Holyspirit. The war against spirit rebels is worst. This is the reason behind the backwardness of so many devout christians and this nation, Nigeria. The battle the enemy is waging against christian is so intense that it will take serious continuos bombardment of long fasting and violent prayers to overcome. Let's examine some possible scenarios. Two Christians can be in the same church, brother "A "will pray and receive instant breakthrough, while brother "B" is wallowing in abject poverty. Why? The reason is that they came from different backgrounds so they are fighting different spiritual warfare. In the family of brother "A", the grandfather was a devouted christian, the father, a Pastor. It makes it easier for instant manifestation of breakthrough. The Brother "B" came from the family where they worship snakes as idol, no christian in this family, they are all idol worshipers. So, the difference is clear. Brother "B" will have to be patient and bombard heaven with serious fasting and prayers for him to breakthrough in life or else he will die unfulfilled. Another possible scenarios; If God has destined brother "A" to be an usher in the church, he may not exprience serious battle, on the other hand, God has chosen brother "B" to be an Apostle or a world changer, the whole of hell fire will rise up like a wounded lion to challenge and fight with brother "B". The Bible says in Ephesians 6:10" Finally, my brethren, BE STRONG in the Lord, and in the power of his might. How can a christian be strong in the Lord? Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11. Let see one armour, verse 16, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the FIERY DARTS of the wicked" Fiery darts or any spiritual arrow, spear, javelin or satanic missile, aim at any careless christians, they mean various temptations, lust or evil passions that can lead to the desruction of a christian. Victory cannot be achieved alone with prayer, you need to obey certain spiritual principles that will make your prayer effective. Invest your money, effort, and time into God's kingdom. God bless you. God2man. |
@God's word, are you Dag Heward Mills? The same topic was written by him. Are you Dag Heward Mills? Pls.confirm. Thanks. God bless you. God2man. |

This dream is clear enough, she has been warned to disembark. Dream interpretations depend on the relationship of the dreamer with God. God will always reveal the future to his beloved children. She should wait and pray again on this journey. If the dream repeat itself again, then it is a serious matter. Can we say she should not go and meet her husband? No Why? Why? Why? She should meditate on the reason behind the traveling, and allow God to guide him for the best decision. There is time for everything. It may not be the best time to travel. There is time to hide and there is time to manifest. There is time to attack and there is another time to run away and hide from the battle field. Read Matthew 2:13. Herod wanted to kill Baby Jesus but the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph to take baby Jesus to the Land of Egypt to escape from Herod. I wish your cousin the best. She will eventually conceive in Jesus name Amen. God bless you. God2man. |
Joseph Ayodele Babalola was born on April 25, 1904 to David Rotimi and Madam Marta Talabi who belonged to the Anglican church. The family lived at odo-owa in ilofa, Kwara state. Strange event took place during his birth, a strange and mighty object explode and shook the clouds. The brother of the young Babalola a sunday school teacher in the CMS church at Ilofa, took him to Osogbo. Babalola started school at Ilofa and got as far as standard five at All saints' school, Osogbo. He left school to become a mechanic apprentice. He later joined the PWD, Public Works Department. He was among the road workers who constructed the road from Igbara-Oke to Ilesa, working as a streamroller driver. It started on the night of September 25th, 1928 when he suddenly became restless. He had no clue of such mysterious exprience. He was working on the Ilesa-igbara-oke road. Suddenly, the streamrollers engine stopped working, without any mechanical problem, the young Babalola became confused. He was in this condition when a great voice called him.JOSEPH,JOSEPH,JOSEPH, if you do not quit this work you will surely die this year. The voice was loud and clear, the voice of God told him that he would die if he refused to obey the call of God. The voice of God told him to fast for seven days without food to know who called him. He obeyed the divine call, and Jesus appeared to him in a vision and gave him several instructions. God used him to cause the popular and historical Oke-Oye Revival of 1930 in Ilesha. Archbishop Benson Idahosa. He was born in Benin city on september 11, 1938, of poor pagan parents. His education was irregular due to status of his parents. He later took correspondence courses from britain and the United states while working in Bata shoe company. He was converted one sunday while playing soccer. God visited him in a night vision, saying, " i have called you that you might take the gospel around the world in my name, preach the gospel, and i will confirm my word with signs following" The room was filled with the presence of God as Benson fell to his kness beside the bed. I will continue later. God bless you. God2man. |
God is God. God is sovereign. God is a mystery. He is an unquestionable God. There are certain things we can't but ask why? The truth is, your "why" has no answer. So, if you are wise, you take it like that. For example, God told Rebekah; Gen 25: 23 " And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be seperated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger" Imagine the future of the unborn babies. They have not done anything. Innocent twins. Paul made it more clearer. Romans 9: 11-16 " For the children being not yet unborn, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth; It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have i loved, but Esau have i hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to moses, i will have mercy on whom i will have mercy, and i will have compassion on whom i will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. Let's go further, Romans9:19-21 " Thou wilt say then unto me, why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter(God) power over the clay(Human beings) to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?" What i have been saying here is that, nobody, i say nobody has the right to question God on certain eternal decisions. Truly, God is to be feared. That's enough. I would like to beging this Historical facts from the BIBLE. Let's start with Moses, how did God visit moses? Exodus 3:1-5 " Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, i will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, MOSES, MOSES. And he said, Here am I." After this call, God released his agenda for him. Moses asked God; Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of isreal, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of isreal, I AM hath sent me unto you." Now, my favourite, SAMUEL, God had a plan for his people, he was searching for a man for a season. He had to shut the womb of hannah. The result was SAMUEL, which means, call by God. Let's start, 1 Samuel 3: 4-10" That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel Arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. And the Lord called Samuel again the thire time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, SAMUEL, SAMUEL. Then Samuel answered, speak; for thy servant heareth." Then God released his agenda again. The great Paul the Apostle. The Acts 9: 3-7 " And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, SAUL, SAUL, why persecutest thou me? And he said, who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him,Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. And the men Journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man." I believe we can see how God visited these people. Note the Double callings. MOSES, MOSES. SAMUEL, SAMUEL. SAUL, SAUL. Let's bring all these divine visitations to Nigeria pentecostal history. Let's begin, Apostle J.A Babalola of the Christ Apostolic Church. C.AC. |
Spiritual enemies, a big yes. Human beings , No, but there are wicked men that have made a covenant with the devil. Unrepentant or stubborn enemies. They are devil incarnate. Devil in human form. Then it becomes a big yes. Above all let the holy spirit guide you in your battle, because life is a battle. Whether you like it or not, you are on the battle field. As a christian, you need to be in God's Army. Fight or die untimely. Ephesians 6:12 God bless you. God2man. |
He was murdered. After about seven days of inquiry into his ‘death’, his relatives went to the mortuary with a coffin to take his body but were shocked to find him alive. Lazarus Oluwafemi Agbolahan Makinde, now an evangelist shares his story. To hear him, especially through the telephone receiver, you must be determined and very patient. The first time this reporter called him, the impression that initially came through as the voice was barely audible, was that he must have been tired out or had some ailment. It was indeed difficult deciphering the near whisper. On meeting him, he came through as a very happy man, and the way he carried himself made that obvious. However, speaking with him explained the cause of the piteous voice quality… His throat was slashed; his head smashed and his genitals were severed in a bizarre murder act. But he is alive to tell the story! And to work on the astonishing story he told in Egba variant-tinted Yoruba language made it even more engaging, considering the fact that he had no western education. Evangelist Makinde’s joy at being alive and able to bear children came through as he struggled to be heard and understood. And this explains his eagerness to tell his story over and over again. Excerpts: What Happened? On the fateful day, two of my journey-men came to me and said they would like to go to my house with me and would sleep in my house. I asked them why and they both said their brothers had visitors. I told them I would not be driving home as I had intended to preach in the bus I would board… I was rounding off a three-day fast. Nevertheless, we went home together. When we got home, I made three cups of tea and I went out to buy bread so we could eat from the stew my wife had prepared before she travelled. They said they were okay but I insisted. On my way, a neighbour, who is also a member of our church, and my landlord’s wife saw them and asked who my visitors were and I told them they were my co-workers who had come to pass the night in my house. While I was away, they had added something to my tea and without knowing this I blessed the tea and drank. I passed out. In that state of unconsciousness, they slit my throat with a knife and removed my Adam’s apple, smashed my head so much that my brain could be seen and also cut my genitals. They took my money, locked me in the room and went away, leaving me for dead. And to think that they were my employees I was paying. One of them was Lukman Osunbiyi of Arigbajo near Ifo in Ogun State. After some days, a foul smell had enveloped our yard and our neighbour’s. A neighbour known as Baba Isaac was the one that raised the issue of what was smelling because my room was adjacent to his. People were searching their rooms to find it. My room is on the way to the conveniences of our compound and our landlord was the one that found out that the smell was coming from my room. He called his wife, Mummy Moji, and asked what could be smelling in my room, ‘has he got dogs?’ The woman said she knew I had no dog. The man said they should send for my relations but they called our church members. When the church members arrived at the scene, they said they could not break the door. So, they went and fetched my brother who was at Itire-Ijesha, known as Brother Kunle. He was the one that drove to Area G police station at Ogba. The police came, demanded for the duplicate key to my room from the landlord and he told them he could not lay his hands on the spare key. The police broke the door and they found my body in a pool of blood in the room… After four days. This was late in the night of the fourth day. They took me to Idi Araba (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) and they were told to go and bury me. They went to Island Hospital, I was rejected; they went to Igbobi and they also rejected me there. I was eventually deposited at the Ikeja General Hospital mortuary. On the seventh day after the incident, members of our family went to Ikeja to retrieve my body. They went with a coffin, but the Almighty God had some point to prove. I was stacked with other dead bodies and when they got to me, they saw that I had raised my left hand and was waving it. There was shouting and commotion at the mortuary. They took me into the hospital for treatment. I noticed that the doctors were confused as to where to start from or what to do. They had cut my throat and severed the oesophagus, my head was wide open while my manhood was dangling. But God raised one of the doctors, a white man named Daniel, through whom my rehabilitation commenced at the Ikeja General Hospital. He was the one who began some repairs of my throat and head. But it was difficult because the throat was gone, it is a cartilage and could hardly be sewn; while my head could sustain nothing and was gushing. But somehow, he managed to cut an opening though the base of my neck and created a duct through which I was fed and given medicines. Breathing was a huge task, given the wound and the pain. And remember, my genitals were severed and suture was also nearly impossible. There were lots of plastic holds and bandages on my neck and others… it was a sight to behold. I was later transferred to the ward. It will interest you to know that while I was there in the ward, God appeared to me on two different occasions and said: “I am the Lord, your God. I have a task which you must accomplish.” After four days in the ward, all the pipes on me were removed by God knows who. Yes, my eyes were open but I could not see. It is needless to say that I could not talk. How and when the pipes were removed, I did not know. I kept hearing a voice telling me: “Am I not your God?” Amid that voice, the plastic and other things on my head were removed. When the nurses and others saw what had happened, there was commotion. They were asking who removed the things. They thought I had died and were confused. When Dr Daniel arrived, he saw what had happened and exclaimed that he had never seen such a thing before. Eventually, they took me back to the theatre. He tried to replace the pipes and so on. So, were there arrests after you came back to life? When the news spread that I had resurrected, one of the persons that killed me committed suicide. The man’s was known as Olumide Timilehin. Lukman Osunbiyi ran away. I was told I could not procreate because my genitals had been severed. Secondly, the doctors also said that my brain was gone and that I would just be kept in a place and be fed and that I would not speak. I was passed as vegetable. It was such a difficult period. But God had some other plans. One day, as our pastor was walking towards me and I just called out his name… I mean Pastor Oke, who was our pastor then at Christ Freedom Evangelical Ministry. That was the day I regained my voice and began to talk again. It was a great day of joy. In fact, when my mother heard what had happened, she walked to Ikeja, almost naked, to see for herself. Even after that incident, I still remained rooted to a spot, immobile. While there, I kept hearing the police and the people talk about Lukman. The police asked me if I knew where he lived and I said I knew the place in Mushin. They asked if I could see and I said yes, just put me in the vehicle. When we got to Lukman’s residence at Mushin, we were directed to where he was at play. When we arrived at the place, they crosschecked his face with that in the photograph they had and saw that it was him truly. He attempted to jump over the fence but he was arrested by the policemen and my family members. They accused him of murder and the matter was taken to court. It was during the hearings in court that Lukman revealed how they came about committing the murder. He spilled the beans, and revealed those who paid them to kill me. He said it was my half-brothers that paid him and Olumide to kill me in my room. There also, one of my brothers admitted that they agreed among themselves, and with Lukman, to just waste me. Was Lukman jailed or what? Towards the end of the matter, pointers were that Lukman and others could be sentenced to death as that was the submission of the state which was prosecuting the case. On one of the hearing days, I raised my hand and requested to speak. When I was given the opportunity, I asked that the matter be left for God to judge. I said I wouldn’t want to see them killed by the cause of this case. At some point in the matter, members of the family of Lukman came to my family and offered me N2million then, begging me to forgive their son and spare his life. They came through my relations and expressed disappointment in their son and brother. They were sorry and wanted to compensate me, but I said I did not need the money. I told them that it was God that brought me back to life and I therefore leave everything to Him. What is your advice to people? Anyone that has Christ has it all… Anyone that has Christ and believes in Him, and does the will of God. He says we are the temple of God and that He would fight for us. He is that one that fought for me because we are more than conquerors because of He who loves us. That is my story. I didn’t even tell you about my tongue that I bit so hard when I was struggling with death… I almost bit my tongue into two in the struggle for life. The address is Abeokuta Street at Oke Odo, in Pleasure area. There is a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in front of the place. The people there would tell more than I have because they saw it all. tomakint: Like I used to say that, out of the five secrets about death, only one was revealed to us; that one day you will surely die! The remaining four; nobody knows the time or date he or she will die, nobody knows the type of death that will kill him or her, nobody knows where (the place) he or she will die and nobody knows who is next to die! |
Babasessy: Nurse reveals the top 5 regrets people make on their deathbed |
To become a commander in God's army, obedience is highly important. All christians are expected to be a soldier for the Lord. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 " Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." It takes time to rise through the ranks and become a commander in God's army. God's divine project, i mean the true christian must experience various hardships, difficulties, discouragement, attack, mockery, dissappointment, mistakes and of course, failure before he can become the commander. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 " For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of christ; And having in a readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your OBEDIENCE is fulfilled." Brethren, when we talk of obedience, what do we mean? I will say that God has different ways of measuring our obedience to him. For example, if God has appointed you to work under a particular leader in your own church for a sometime until you become mature to lead a church, and because you see people running after position in the church, you neglected an important assignment God has given you under the leader in your church to learn from him and you run to establish your own church. Disaster is imminent. The truth is, there is time for everything, there is time for training, there is time for servanthood, there is an appointed time for your promotion. The question is; how many christians are willing to wait for the preparation God has appointed them to pass through? Whether we like it or not, God is expecting us to pass through certain experience that will make us a better leader in the future. If we fail to pass through such an important experience, we may not breakthough. It will be difficult to command when we disobey the leader God has assigned to train us. Nowadays, many christians are too much in a hurry. God does not work like that, when it comes to the divine preparation, it takes time. Some are like rolling stones that gather no dust, they move from church to church, today in Mfm, tommorow in winners, the next day at deeper life. Othes go as far as establishing their own church. It is so terrible. We have so many churches in our street but how many of them are in the centre of the will of God. Without adequate preparation, manifestation will be difficult. God is God of preparation. Let's follow the leading of the Holyghost for our ministries. Your own God's appointed leader may be a nice person, learn from him, he may be wicked, learn from him, you may need to balance your leadership skills by such attitude. Roman 13:1-5 " Let every soul be subject unto higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to excute wrath upon that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake" The above verses are also applicable in the church. If there is a disagreement or misunderstanding between you and your appointed leader, try your best to be humble enough to apologise for your errors or mistakes. Roman 12:21; Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Let's endure the period of our preparation so that we can command. God bless you. God2man. |
