Christianity EtcRe: 7 Ways People Enter Into Evil Covenants by God2man(op): 10:35pm On Sep 22, 2012
Is it difficult to quote Bible verses about covenant?

Exodus 34: 12-16" Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods."

David and Jonathan
in 1 samuel 20: 16-17 " So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the Lord even require it at the hand of David's enemies.
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved as loved his own soul"

You can also read about Davidic covenant in Psalm 89:20-37.

Now, evil covenants, isaiah 28:15 " Because ye have said, we have made a covenat with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:"

There are other ways men enter into covenant, your greatgrand father can enter into a covenat with an idol on behalf of his children yet unborn. This is an inherited covenant. Unknowingly, you are into the covenant without your approval. It is possible.

I gave an example by saying 100 demons, the Bible verse is a popular one that once you have a premarital se.x or se.x outside marriage, you have become one body with your sex.ual partners and that is not to say that all the demon in a lady with 100 demons will be automatically transfer to the man. Body and spiritual entities are not the same.

A cloth can be invoked or charged with power with spiritual power, and once you wear such demonic cloth that exposes your unclothedness, you automatically enter into a covenant. The same way the apron of Paul was used to heal the sick, it is not impossible to do the same for any cloth.

Everything may not be inside the Bible, but the principles are there in the Bible and are applicable to the present day problems people are facing.

I hope you understand.

God bless you.

Christianity Etc7 Ways People Enter Into Evil Covenants by God2man(op): 2:41pm On Sep 22, 2012
Note the spelling COVENANT not convenant. It begins with God. God made covenant with Noah, Abraham, David and also the New covenant which is still in operation. We can see that God is a God of covenant. God is committed to it. He is always watching over his convenant. God's final commitment to do anything is in a covenant

What is the meaning?

A covenant is an accepted decision between two parties. It could be more than two. It can be described as an agreement between two or more people to establish a relationship in which promises, responsibilty and punishment for breaking the convenant are made. Covenant is legally binding. It is irreversible. It is the final irrevocable commitment. It is like a chain binding two people together. The covenant made the two to have one thing in common that keep them together.

However, the enemy of the soul of men, the devil has corrupted the original intention of covenant, he has created a counterfeit covenant called evil covenant, this one, is deceitfully done. It could be conscious evil covenant or unconsciuos evil covenant. It could be satanic. The devil is always looking for who to devour.

Certain things are important for forming a covenant, 1. People 2. Words 3. Reason.4. Place. 5. Blessings or punishment for breaking the covenant.

Words are very vital for forming a covenant, silent or loud, verbal, written or thought. There is a powerful connection between words and covenant.

Broken covenant is deadly. It may lead to chronic poverty, disaster, sudden death, calamity, barreness and madness.
Evil covenant is like a primitive trade by barter. It is an exchange. For example, the satanic priest can say, if you can sleep in the grave for so so days, you will be rich, if you can sleep with a young virgin girl, you will not die early in life...

Now, how do people enter into evil covenants?

1. Sex outside marriage: It does not matter if you use condom, a covenant is made. 1 corithian 6:16 "What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two, saith he, shall be one flesh" so, 1+1=1. During sex many things are transfered, diseases, body fluid, and liquid. Spiritually, a lot of transaction take place, a lady dedicated to marine shrine will have many demons, let's say 100 demons, this lady now sleep with a clean man, this man will collect 50 demons from this lady. Again, this man with 50 demons is now sexually loose, he begins to sleep with another girl, the new girl will get 25 out of the 50. It goes on and on. The life of this man is divided, shared, anytime he does it,he can never remain the same.

Also, the first time you had sex and the way it was done, has a heavy spiritual consequence.

2. Pictures: If you have promised to marry somebody and you change your mind about that person, your picture in the hand of your former boyfriend or girlfriend is a powerful tool to enter into evil covenant.

3. Blood: Every incision, cut in the body, mark in the body are all covenants. Lovers cutting each other, mixing the blood with wine in a container to drink is a terrible covenant. Blood covenant is the most powerful because life is in the blood.

4. Counterfeit Religion: The devil has corrupted covenant, he has created counterfeit. Whenever you see original, there must be counterfeit, this is the reason behind various spiritual houses called churches with shrine where they burn candles, incense and are using holywater. They are all covenant houses set up as a trap for idolatry and occultism.

5. Occultic covenant: Cult society, they swear allegiance promising they will never leave the group with blood.

6. Food and drinks: Food collected from agent of darkness or satanic altar. Beware, food can kill especially free food. Parent should warn their children. They could be initiated into the demonic world through food.

7. Demonic fashion: Wearing clothes that expose your body will give demons access to your body. Demonic ring repackaged as wedding ring.

Historically and Biblically,Jewellery had connections with idolatry, charms, spells, and enchantment. People put on rings for Goodluck, for transfer of virtue, to beat or even kill. Almost all occult societies have their own rings on their fingers, even, preachers and christians are not left out. Ring sold in various markets are not only for fashion, those rings have power to connect you to the demonic world against your wish.

A single ring could destroy your life forever. It could actually turn you to a money making machine.

What are the signs that evil covenants are in place?

When problems are Resistant to prayers and couselling, you command the demon to go, and the demon says NO.

A very bad habit that is difficult to break, addicted to drugs, smoking, alcoholism.

Discussing the Bible without an encounter with God or personal exprience.

Inability to concentrate.

The way out is to connect with the blood of Jesus to break the evil covenant.

How? Give your life to Jesus.

God bless you

Christianity EtcRe: Pls Clear Me On This Concerning Judas Iscariot by God2man(m): 8:09pm On Sep 20, 2012
Very sad story of Judas iscariot.
Acts 1:17" For he was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry" and
Acts 1:25 "That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which by Judas by trangression fell, that might go to his own place"
What a disaster! An exalted position of an apostle. Even Paul could not count himself to be called an apostle.
Judas chose by sinning. He heard the word "betrayal" from the mouth of his master, yet he went ahead to betray his master. I believed Judas had done something like this before and there was no problem, Jesus escaped.
Judas was tempted by the love of money.
James 1: 13-15 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bring forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death"
he could not resist the money and at the same time believing that Jesus would escape. He was blinded by the spirit of greed and covetousness, he fell into the trap prepared for him before he was born.
Judas was a son of perdition. Hear Jesus: John 17:12 " While i was with them in the world, i kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me i have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfiled."

The sad thing about this event is that what happened to Judas is now happening to some careless christians, People never learn. All the various events in the Bible are written for us, so that we can be careful and do not fall into the same error. Alas! History is repeating itself, and history will keep repeating itself because people never listen. They seem to be saying; "Oh! The money is big, i can't resist it, i pray God will forgive me, the money is tempting, i just have to do it. God is love, he will always forgive. He always does."
They have forgotten that God cannot be mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap.

Brethren, there is no amount of preaching, prayer, fasting or pleading we can do to stop the "son of perdition" from going to hell. They will never listen. There are plenty of them in our various churches today, even on nairaland, they are on this forum, they will never change. It becomes a mystery on what we can do for them.

@op, God bless you for this thread.

Orikinla: Good analysis.

But from my own perspective of life, I have the following.

We are what we do
Regardless of our credo.

Our characters are formed by our acts and our acts are from our thoughts.
Humans will repeat the same mistakes when they fail to learn the lessons of life from their past errors.

How many of us have always shouted mea culpa!
As loud as Isaac Newton shouted eureka?
Being nice always comes with a price
And being twice as nice is twice the sacrifice.
The spirit of true love does not ask us to be perfect, but to be honest.
Love is not lust and lust is not love as the wheat is not the chaff and the chaff is not the wheat.
Love is a divine spirit that knows and longs for the truth, because it lives by the truth. That is why honesty and transparency are the heart and soul of the spirit of true love.
When humans lie and betray love, the spirit of love leaves, because it cannot live in a heart of conceit and deceit. But the spirit of love is never lonely, because it will always be found by those in search of the comfort of true love and the spirit of love welcomes as many as come in the garments of honesty and transparency and brings them to the throne of grace where they will find peace.
Is peace not what you seek?
For it is only in peace will you find solace.

RomanceRe: Things Every Girl Should Know About Her Fiance Before Marriage by God2man(m): 5:10pm On Sep 18, 2012
Timijo: No one wants to be surprised to find that their new spouse has a serious drinking problem or is a complete slob. There are certain fundamental issues that need to be resolved before two people enter into a marriage. Until you've lived with someone for a while or been in a long relationship, it's hard to know almost everything about them. Open the lines of communication and have a series of heart-to-heart talks about the things that matter most.

Religion
How important is your fiance's religion to him? It's important to be on the same religious page as the person you plan to spend the rest of your life with. If one of you is religious but the other isn't, conflict will likely arise regarding the wedding. Later on, once you have kids, the question of raising them in a church or temple will cause conflict if you have different ideas about religion.

Bad Habits
Is your fiance a slob? Does he drink too much? Is gambling his weakness? Find out whether your fiance has any bad habits that you won't be able to live with. Discuss them openly and come to a consensus regarding the habit. But be careful: even if he promises to change, don't count on his word for it. Make sure the change has been made before tying the knot, or you may find yourself married to his bad habits for the long haul.

Children
Does he want children? People rarely change their minds about this issue, so don't marry him if he wants eight kids and you have no desire for even one. Similarly, even if you both want children, do you agree on how to raise them? If one of you believes in spanking and the other is completely against any form of corporal punishment, can you come to an agreement for a compromise? The time to consider religion, discipline and parenting philosophies is before you marry him and begin having children.

Health
Is your fiance healthy? If you're a nonsmoking exercise machine and he's a chain-smoking couch potato, you will likely have some conflict in your marriage. Likewise, what can you expect in the long run? Does he have a long family history of cancer or heart disease? Does he take preventative measures to avoid the same fate? Health issues should not preclude you from marrying the man you love, but knowing ahead of time what you can expect will save a lot of worrying later on, and will help you help him live a long, healthy life.

Money
How does your fiance handle his finances? If he's saddled with debt, it will become your debt too, once you're married. If he's thrifty to the point of being cheap, and you like to spend money on luxurious items, you can bet there will be conflict in the marriage. You and your fiance will need to talk this through thoroughly and come to a compromise to keep the peace. If one of you is an excellent saver, perhaps the other can give you a certain percentage of his or her paycheck to put away each month. If one of you is a prolific spender, work out a budget for spending and stick to it. If you're both terrible with money, make an appointment to see a financial planner before you tie the knot.

Skeletons in the Closet
Does your fiance have a secret life? Find out as much as you can from him about his history. If he has an ex-wife and two kids living in another state, you need to know about this now, not later. His skeletons may not change the way you feel about him, and most of them shouldn't, but keeping important secrets from each other is a certain death knell for your marriage, which must be based on honesty and respect in order to work.

Interests
How important are his personal interests, and do they match yours, at least a little? If he's an avid hunter, you will likely be alone a lot during hunting season. Are you okay with that? If he's a sports fanatic and you can't name even one major league team, be prepared to plan events around his sports-watching schedule. It's not necessary--in fact, it's not healthy--to have the exact same interests, but knowing ahead of time what he's fanatical about will help you cope with any obsessions once you're married.

Family
What is his relationship like with his family? His conflicts will become your conflicts. Likewise, if he's still very attached to his mother, expect some difficult years ahead as you struggle to be the number one woman in his life. How he handles his relationships will clue you in to how he will handle his relationship with you and with your children. Pay attention and watch for any red flags, such as petty grudges and disrespectful behavior toward his family.

Temperament
Does your fiance have road rage? Is he way too complacent about things he should be concerned about? Having similar temperaments is ideal for marriage. If one of you handles stress by shutting down and the other gets frustrated and upset, you will have rough times ahead of you. Pay attention to his attitude and how he handles himself in difficult situations. Keep in mind that changing his temperament will be virtually impossible, and what you see is what you will get in marriage.

Style
Look around your fiance's personal space. Is his baseball cap collection the focal point of his living room? Is he willing to have his bad taste relegated to a secret room in the basement? Discuss ahead of time how your house will look once you are married. If you can't abide the wagon wheel coffee table, tell him so. If he's unwilling to part with it, you may need to learn to love it, or expect some serious arguments over furniture and decor.

Christianity EtcRe: Some Women Are Not Findable by God2man(m): 5:59am On Sep 18, 2012
uchkochi: HE THAT FINDS A WIFE, FINDS A GOOD THING AND OBTAINS FAVOUR FROM THE LORD. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MAN TO FIND AND IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WOMAN TO BE FOUND.The woman have to be findable. This message is intended in teaching a woman how to be findable so that she can be found.

He that finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favour from the LORD. Proverbs 18:22. The bible says He that finds a wife, not a girl or a lady but a WIFE. The bible calls a woman a wife even before she marries. This implies that wives are easily found, it is wives that are findable. It is the responsiblity of the woman to train herself to becoming a wife even before she gets married. The outward appearance of a woman is not what makes her a wife, it is the content of her mindset that makes her
a wife. Real men identifies a WIFE when they see one. Husbands recognises wives when they see one. Wives are responsible, they are purposeful, they don't move around, they are findable. If a wife is not in a relationship you will know, when she is you will know, because she is committed. She is not confused about who to marry, she knows who to marry.

It is time for women to know how to position themselves so that they can be found, the earlier they do so, the better. A man can find even at 50, but a woman has a particular time when she could easily be found. Many highly placed, affluent unmarried ladies are making themselves unfindable. This has nothing to do with their wealth or position but it has to do with their mindset and their attitude. For instance, where do you find them, they are always in high places, you cannot see them in ordinary places, what if her husband happen to always visit the ordinary places most of the time. They tend to attract men of their status and class who may not be their husbands, they need to slow down, How can a woman that does not leave the house be found? how can a woman that is so busy with her career and does not have time to go to the right places be found? God brought Eve to Adam in the garden, there was a meeting spot. A lady that is always seen with men(ordinary friends) is not making herself findable. A lady that cannot take herself out sometimes is not making herself findable. For a woman to be findable she must always treat and carry herself as a wife. A wife dresses smart, good and not seductive. A wife fears God. A wife starts praying for her husband even when he has not found her. A wife is lovely and a help-meet indeed. When a woman is findable she will easily be found by her husband. Delay in marriage most times is not the devil, but ignorance, the devil only takes advantage of the ignorant. Finally as I begin to round up, A WIFE IS DOWN TO EARTH NO MATTER WHAT SHE HAS OR DOES NOT HAVE. It is my prayer that things becomes easy for anyone reading this message through KNOWLEDGE IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME. BB PIN IS 21322745.

Christianity EtcRe: Man, How To Discover Your Mrs Right. by God2man(m): 7:29pm On Sep 17, 2012
uchkochi: MAN, HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR MRS RIGHT.

There are many distorting views about this subject, some people are of the opinion that God has no business when it comes to life partner, others believe whoever you choose, God will respect. The truth is this; God is the one that instituted marriage, which also means He is the one that has the blue print and the master plan. Genesis 2:24. Many have misunderstood Proverbs 18:22; that says, WHOSOEVER FINDS A WIFE FINDS A GOOD THING AND HAS OBTAINED FAVOUR FROM GOD. They have mistakenly interpreted it that the man has to find, that is He has to keep looking and searching. 'Find' in this scripture does not mean looking for or searching, it mean RECOGNISING HER WHEN SHE SHOWS UP OR WHEN YOU MEET HER. HE HAS TO RECOGNISE WHO GOD HAS DESTINED HIM TO MARRY. God is the best match maker. He knows the end from the beginning. ISAIAH 46:10.He knows who will give you joy and peace all the days of your life.

When God took a rib out of Adam to make Eve. It prophetically affected every one. When Adam sinned, it affected every man until they become born again, so also when God took a rib out of Adam to make His wife, He took a rib out of every man (because we were all in Adam) to make their wives. So it is now left for you to locate and find your own wife.

Adam saw Eve easily because of one thing, if every single man will apply this principle then they will easily find their God ordained wives. God put Adam to sleep, a very deep sleep first before He made His wife. You must be at rest, genuine rest to find Her. Genesis 2:21-22. Finding here does not mean looking for, from one place to the other. Finding means recognising her when you see her. God organises connections and expects you to recognise it when she comes. The major thing is that you must not be under pressure and you must not be in a hurry, just be patient and you will easily recognise her. When Adam saw Eve, He said she was the bone of his bone and the flesh of his flesh. My prayer for you is that God will help you to make the right choice. Be blessed in Jesus name. BB PIN IS 21322745.
i wonder why many people believed this notion of finding your wife without asking for the God's guidance. How can God be put aside when it comes to choosing your life partner. How?

Anyway, i wish them goodluck.

Thanks for the post.

God bless you.

So during the burial they ( the rainmakers in the village ) came around and demanded to be settled, when they where refused in a few minutes it started to shower. An elder uncle of mine had to pay them off and after then the clouds were clear and sunny. This was the instance where I began to believe.

This is why we should not Joke with dreams. Dream may come from our daily routine, dream can be manipulated by the devil, that is the reason behind meaningless dream, dream can come from God to warn us. Whichever way you look at it, work on your dream. It may deliver you from trouble one day.

Our relationship with God has a great influence on our dream, if you move closer to God, he will move closer to you. If you move far away from God, he will move away.

You can always reversed your evil dreams when you wake up, if your way is right before him.

Dream is one of the various ways God speaks to man. If we can work on it very well, we can achieve a lot in this life.

oludyke: CHRIST Is Coming Soon
Christ is coming
The King of Glory
No more sorrow
No more weeping
Tell the story
Among the Nations
Christ is coming
Bye and bye

I woke up this early Sunday morning singing this song from my sleep. He is surely coming soon. The King of kings and the Lord of lords is coming to take His people home. Halleluiah!

Are you prepared to meet Him? As I ask you, I ask myself too. If you want to travel to the United Kingdom from Nigeria, you need to obtain a Nigerian International Passport upon which a UK entry visa which will issued by the United Kingdom High Commission in Nigeria. Without the entry visa on your passport, you can’t gain entry into the UK, irrespective of who your parents are or your connections in high places: even if your parents are next of kin to the Queen of England. As long as you are not a British or EU citizen, once you are of age you must need an entry visa. So is it with entrance into the Kingdom of God. You need to be born again (John 3:3) for you to be qualified for heaven, just as you must be a Nigerian to have the Nigerian passport. But your being born again is not enough, you have to be doing the will of God, which includes living your life as the Word of God stipulates for you to gain entry into the Kingdom of God (John3:5; Mat 7:21), which is like the entry visa issued by the UK High Commission on your Nigerian passport. Just like the UK entry visas are issued by the UK government to only those who meet their set criteria (not Nigeria government’s set criteria), so also the entrance into heaven are for those who meet God’s entry requirements.
So it is not enough to say “I am born again” without bearing the fruit expected of a child of GOD. It is the fruit that I bear as child of God that will guarantee my entry into heaven (Gal 5:22-24). If I live according to the flesh, I can never be there (Gal 5:19-21). The Bible says that those who are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom 8:cool. It also says that those who live in the flesh shall die (Rom 8:13). The death here refers to eternal death, which is to be eternally separated from God. May that not be your portion nor mine in JESUS’ name, Amen.
God expects us as His children to put away all weights, sins that doth easily entangle us and run with patience (perseverance) the race that is set before us: while looking at Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith. He for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross (suffering, persecution, death), despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb 12:1-2).

Finally, the race to heaven is an individualistic one. Just as you cannot come to the UK on the grace of your parents, except you have a visa duly stamped unto your passport, so also you can’t enter heaven on the grace of your parents, spouse, brothers, sisters, friends etc. They cannot run the race for you, no matter how much they love you. Any time I talk about the individualism of the heavenly race, I always remember my parents who so much loved me and my siblings so much that there was nothing they could afford and we needed that were not provided for us. But when death came knocking, could they remember us, their loved children? No, it was not meant to be! But they left for us a legacy which we their children are building on today. You know what? We all came alone and we must return the way we came: Alone!

Let us remember that the sooner we decide to follow Jesus wholeheartedly the better for us. The Bible says in Rom 14:12 that everyone of us shall give account of himself (or herself) to God. Also see Mat 12:36.
Join me as we close this message with one of my favourite songs.
When we get to heaven
At the marriage supper
All the saints shall gather
At the last assembly
No more sad parting
No more heart breaking
Farewell to sorrow
Victory at last!

Halleluiah!

GOD bless you.
This one is better. Oh! Yes, the King is coming.

I sincerely pray that God will be so merciful to all his children. In Jesus name . Amen.

EducationRe: Secrets To Improving Your Memory In 7 Days by God2man(m): 3:10pm On Sep 16, 2012
ikennaobi: INTRODUCTION

Having a good memory means being able to recall information easily
which you have experienced in the past. There are 2 types of memory:
Long-term and short-term.

Short-term memory is the ability to store information which occurred a
few minutes or even a few seconds ago.

For example, when you phone the operator for a company’s telephone
number, you’ll be able to remember and dial the number right away.
After 1 or 2 minutes, you’ll completely forget about the number.
Long-term memory is the ability to store information in your brain for
a longer period of time. This is information which you’ve made an
effort to remember for a long time.

Another type of long-term memory is when something repeats itself
several times so that you remember it permanently.
Or when something shocking, positive or negative occurs that
stimulated your emotions quite a bit.

For example, if someone pointed a gun to your head, it’ll be impossible
to forget the incident.

This step by step guide is to help you improve your short-term and
long-term memory. If you’re physically and mentally fit, then it’s a
matter of training yourself to get the effective memory you want.
The steps are laid out over a span of 7 days where you’ll begin to have
a much better memory if you take action and practice the steps.
Secrets To Improving Your Memory In 7 Days

Day One
Step 1 – Understanding A Bit More About Memory
Some people are born with a good memory. I have a daughter and son
who have totally different characters.
My wife and I spend a lot more time with our daughter’s studies. She
needs to work harder than others when it comes to spelling tests,
examinations etc…

My son on the other hand, needs far less attention from my wife and I
compared to our daughter. The reason is, he naturally has a good
memory.
He can remember things which we teach him only once. He even
remembers them a few months later.
If you understand this situation or have actually experienced this
yourself, don’t despair. It is possible to train yourself and get a good
memory.

It involves changing some of your habits, doing some brain exercises
and following some techniques. You will see improvement. That’s a
guarantee.

There are 3 main areas which you can improve on to make a
difference:
- Physical Exercise
- Brain Exercise
- Memory Techniques

EducationRe: How To Make Your Child Amaths Genius by God2man(m): 2:58pm On Sep 16, 2012
bayulll01: First, as parents, understand the
fact that education is a symbiotic
process that involves both the
parents and teachers. Like a
committed parent, a good
teacher could make a child love
a seemingly ‘hard’ subject and
make a genius of him.
Here are steps to take:
• Learn to create a
mathematical environment
It is critical to create a
mathematical ‘environment’ for
your children, especially during
the formative years. Children
who are regularly exposed to
mathematics early in their
everyday lives are in a better
position to embrace higher-level
mathematics. To Ms. Idowu
Tokunbo-Joseph, the Chief
Executive Officer, Gethsemane
Garden Educational Consultancy,
adequate drilling of children
proffers knowledge. Drilling?
“Well, when a child recites the
multiplication table on a daily
basis, he is not likely to forget it
anytime soon,” she says.
Moreover, parents should make
maths real. Maths is all around
you in the form of money, time,
measurement, and numerous
other daily encounters. Help
your child appreciate the value
of mathematics by pointing out
the ‘mathematical world’
anywhere you go. According to
Professor Sam Ale, Director-
General of the National
Mathematical Centre, life is
about mathematics. Hear him:
“Even God is a mathematician.
He is an Algebraist and he
geometrises daily. The wonders
of the world are about
mathematics and all the great
philosophers were
mathematicians. There is nothing
you do in life that does not
require mathematics.” So,
engage your children in life skills
and games from their early
years. Here is an example: Share
cakes/biscuits and ask a child to
pick one and count the rest.
That way, you are teaching them
fraction. Gradually, they learn to
solve arithmetic.
• Learn to review school work
As parents, ensure you do a
thorough check-up on your
children/wards by cross-checking
on what they have been taught
at school- paying huge school
fees should not place that
responsibility on any teacher!
Encourage your children to read
extensively in order to gain
sound knowledge.
• Learn to reinforce it as well
Though as working parents, you
might not do this on a daily
basis, you can engage them over
the weekend. Is this possible?
Yes, as long as you don’t make
them believe weekends are for
watching television alone.
Unfortunately, some parents
have made television their
electronic babysitters. If your
child watches too much of TV,
they spend less time developing
their own interests and exploring
their own ideas too. Minimise
your child’s TV time to
encourage more out-of-the-box
thinking.
• Have a positive mindset
Words like, ‘Maths is too hard,’
or ‘I was never good at maths
either,’ or ‘you don’t need maths
to be successful in life,’ give
children an easy way out of
something that will likely be
challenging to them. That maths
was (and is) not important to
you, doesn’t spell the same to
your child. You don’t have the
same life and its likely maths is
going to be important to your
children more in this age and
time.
• Learn to give reward
Rewards can be used effectively
as motivational tools – just make
sure rewards are attached to a
specific goal or accomplishment
and not used inconsistently or
inappropriately. Rewards do not
need to be big or expensive.
Come up with ideas as a family;
think of things like a special
dinner or staying up later on a
weekend night.
• You can’t leave out books
Books are essential for any
subject. So ensure they get
books in order to expand their
knowledge and scope of the
subject. Mr. Abiodun Sanni, a
mathematics teacher in a public
school, says students whose
parents buy books for them are
likely to do better than those
who do not.
• Schools are not left out
either
Mrs Olasumbo Brown, the
proprietor of Crayon Campus
Montessori School, Lagos, says,
“Schools should employ qualified
teachers instead of allowing just
any graduate to teach. A
graduate without the knowledge
of mathematics cannot teach a
child well. They would only pass
on what they do not know.”
CAUTION!
• You don’t put pressure to
make a genius!
Conversely, you can’t make a
child like maths. Pressurising a
child can have detrimental
effects on them. It’s more
important to make the learning
process fun and engaging. Any
‘extracurricular’ maths that you
do with your children/pupils
should be on the light side.
Playing a maths game in the car
is a great way to pass the time,
but don’t force it if your child is
not in the mood to learn. It’s a
good idea to set a time limit on
the activity and stick to it- 15 to
20 minutes is appropriate for
most elementary school pupils.
• Mind the time of the day
too!
Thank you.

God bless you.

FamilyRe: 10 Common Misconceptions About Money by God2man(m): 1:16pm On Sep 13, 2012
MR MICKMEN: 1. The more money I have, the happier I’ll be.
Let’s ask Howard Hughes, Anna Nicole Smith, John Belushi, Chris Farley, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Elvis about this one. OK, guys, show of hands… did fame and fortune make you happy?
Happiness comes from liking yourself, something completely unrelated to money. Riches buys recognition, too often confused with validation. But respect, especially self-respect, isn’t for sale.
When you’re on your death-bed, will you be thinking about money? If so, your contribution to the gene pool was negligible. Rather than obsessing about money, think about what really makes you happy. Then make only enough money to take part in those activities. Making more is a waste of the only non-renewable resource you have: your time on the planet.

2. A big income will keep me out of debt.
What’s the difference between someone who makes $50,000 a year with a $100,000 mortgage and someone who makes $500,000 a year with a $1 million mortgage? Answer: nothing. Unless they have money set aside for emergencies, they’re both a paycheck away from disaster.
Debt often rises with income. What keeps you out of debt isn’t a high income or net worth. It’s not borrowing money.

3. Millionaires drive fancy cars, wear fancy clothes, and live in fancy houses.
Not according to the folks who did a bunch of research and wrote The Millionaire Next Door. According to their studies, the average American millionaire drives an unexciting American car, lives in the same nondescript house they’ve owned for years, and avoids designer labels. That’s how they became millionaires.
So who’s buying all the designer clothes and Porches? Many times it’s people who will never become wealthy because they’re swapping tomorrow’s financial freedom for today’s appearance. As I’m fond of saying, life affords you the opportunity to either look rich or be rich, but few live long enough to accomplish both. The younger you decide, the better.

4. The more money I have, the less worries I’ll have.
Balderdash. Money doesn’t end anxiety. It gives you something else to be anxious about: losing your money. Granted, those without enough money to eat or keep a roof over their heads have lots to worry about. But once you have enough money for all your needs and a reasonable number of your desires, the excess will add to your concerns, not alleviate them.

5. Money will help me find love.
In my experience with women, they’re not attracted to money. They are, however, attracted to ambition and intelligence, especially when it presents as humor. Everyone’s attracted to people who are self-confident, non-needy, and able to laugh at themselves.
Like a peacock, wealthy people can easily attract attention. But attention isn’t the same as admiration or affection. And even if it works, do you really want to spend your life with someone so shallow and insecure they were attracted to your money?

6. I’ll have more fun if I have more money.
When I was young, I didn’t have two nickels to rub together, but I had a ton of fun. Today I have lots of nickels – and am happy to report, still having a riot.
There’s no doubt that money can furnish the elements of a good time. But if you need money to have fun, you’re boring. And should you become a billionaire, you’ll still be boring.

7. Money means security.
When you boil it down, a primary purpose of money is to make life more predictable. It allows you to control your environment by being prepared for the unexpected.
While that’s partly true, there’s not enough money in the world to completely control everything. I could have a heart attack and die before I finish writing this, and you could have one before you finish reading it. Accept that we’re all bobbing on a sea of uncertainty, no matter how much money we have.
8. Money will enable me to meet interesting people.
In my experience, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting interesting people. But if I want to maximize my odds of meeting someone worth knowing, I won’t be heading to the nearest country club.
I’ve met plenty of fun and interesting rich people – but I’ve also met rich people who were vain, myopic, pretentious, and judgmental. They weren’t that way because they were rich. They were that way because they were born rich and as a result never had to overcome adversity.
Overcoming adversity is what makes people interesting, not how much money they have. People without at least a few skeletons in the closet are often shallow as a puddle.

9. I need money to travel, and travel is important.
The world is an interesting place, and being well-traveled makes you interesting. But travel comes in many forms, including the budget variety. If you want to see faraway places, you’ll find a way.
In my book Life or Debt, I conclude by describing the first book I ever read about something I love: sailing. The book was about a couple who built their own sailboat and traveled around the world, working when they needed to and never accumulating more than a few thousand dollars at a time. Their boat had no air conditioning, no refrigerator – not even a radio.
What most people do in the same situation is wait until they have enough money to buy what amounts to a floating condo: a boat that’s luxurious, seaworthy, and far too expensive to ever actually buy. The result is they spend their lives on the dock. What a waste.

10. Money will buy friends.
This is not only untrue, it’s the opposite of what money actually does. I’ve got a super-rich friend or two, and what I’ve observed is that money attracts plenty of hangers-on – but almost no friends.
People with vast wealth or fame can’t trust the motives of those surrounding them (see No. 5 above). That’s why the people they count as true friends are normally either people they knew before they were rich and famous, or people who are equally rich and famous.
There’s the advantage of being judged on your personality versus your net worth: The friends that result actually like you, not what you can do for them.
