GRV,you're my man anyway anytime. I have these few questions for you.
1. What is your plan on the Agricultural sector of the state and what strategies do you have planned for ensuring food security and more affordable feeding.
2. Do you have any road map for the IT sector that is a hot cake in Lagos state now? If yes, what?
3. Traffic is one of the most unpalatable things disturbing Lagosians. What are you going to do further in other transport sectors like Rail, Water e.t.c

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 250k Job In Lagos Vs 200k Job In Benin by GodAbeg5(m): 12:49pm On Aug 25, 2022
Gr8mike:
Good day my fellow Nairalanders,

So I recently got a job as in IT officer in Lagos and in Benin, the one I got in Lagos(Restaurant /Fashion Store) is 250k plus pensions and HMO while the one in Benin(Hydro Farm) is 200k, no pension but there is free weekly farm produce available for staffs.

I currently reside in Lagos and my house rent is on the High side but I am from Benin and getting accommodation in Benin won't be hard.

With the high inflation rate, will you advise I move to Benin considering I won't be spending on food, transportation and housing is cheap.

Please I need your comments.
Better run to Benin. Your life would be much better

I'd advise you to go because, the theres no how in the world the job or jobs your doing in Nigeria is going to be better than that of the UK, if truly it is in IT. It might not sound like so much over there but it is definitely an upgrade from what youre living on here with this shitty purchasing power. Your access to top tier international networks is another thing that is much more priceless than here. Third, you have the opportunity of growing fast and exploring other things outside work like education and exposure to multiple cultures. Theres just too much argument in favour of moving even though 1.5m is no small deal too.

Please if youre into Data, kindly recommend me for opportunities abeg

Religion / Re: Coronavirus: Guidelines For Reopening Churches And Mosques By NCDC by GodAbeg5(m): 12:15pm On Jun 14, 2020
ikorodureporta:
How many Catholic churches in Lagos can handle this??
I've seen parishes holding up to 5 masses with full capacity, plus overflow, & you want just a few people to come around, & worship for just 1hr?? Will there be waiting areas??
It would be better if they make use of their open spaces with canopies, & not allowing cars in so as to have more spaces....but what happens to the traffic around the churches??

The worst part is that the Catholic Churches are among the least IT compliant. Despite their population, most of them do not have social media platforms to communicate with their members. They also have a very poor multimedia/ sound system in the churches. You approach a priest that you want to create a web platform for the church & he says he's not interested....

As if the Lagos archdiocese got a sign from COVID, around February 2020, a seminar was organized to build a more robust communication platform for the church, but nothing was implemented before COVID took over...

**Modified..
Imagine..

*Religious houses should fumigate their auditoriums , car parks and other buildings by wiping all surfaces with a disinfecting agent .

*During services , windows and doors must be opened to enable airflow

*Adequate provision should be made for soap , running water and hand sanitisers at entry points .

*There should be no entry without face masks ; provide disposable face masks where practicable .

*To help educate on COVID - 19 , it is recommended for places of worship to have preventive messages from NCDC posted at entry points and around places of worship .

*Holy communion should be packaged in disposable wraps.

*Drinking water points , public toilets and sales outlets must be closed for now

*Religious leaders must maintain two metres when praying or counselling and avoid body contact with members .

*Places of worship should be free of carpets and rugs to allow easy disinfection of the floor

*Temperature check at entrance

*Contact details of attendees

*No sharing of microphone, robes by ushers

*No loitering around after service

*Service shouldn't exceed 1 hour

*Adults above 60 & children below 16 not allowed

*Disinfect venue after each service

*One third of full capacity
Bro, the way you just settle this matter erhn, shows you are an erudite somebori, Infact one bottle of Madagascar agbo for you

Certification And Training Adverts / FREE Data Science And Machine Learning Training Finally Begins In Lagos. by GodAbeg5(m): 4:47pm On Feb 12, 2020
The job landscape in Nigeria has necessitated up skilling in 21st century skills so as to create value for yourself and gain capability, and to solve present problems and challenges. This has been the main driving point for Johnson Adejuyigbe, the Cofounder/C.E.O of Constant Learn, Lagos. The first session of this Career Ready program held on the 27th of January,2020 aimed to do just this by firstly putting together an all encompassing learning material and secondly mentoring you to carry out projects while phasing you into the industry, by setting you up for jobs. The report below is a summary of the discussions at the orientation session, via a Zoom meeting held. Read and be informed!
Title: Constant Learn Orientation session for the Career Ready Program (Data Science Track) learners

The first onboarding session for the Career Ready Programme (Data Science Track) held via Zoom Conference call on Monday January 27, 2020; with participants from various continents.

It was hosted by Constant Learn, a Lagos-based Information Technology and Capacity Development start-up committed to bridge the digital skills and unemployment gap by providing learners with the skills to create innovative solutions and sustainable development.

Speaking during the session, Founder/CEO of Constant Learn, Ayodeji J Adejuyigbe said, “What we want to do is to be able to bridge the digital skills gap. We believe the next decade we are in already is actually one that will bring about smart machines and how best humans can actually rely more on models to be able to solve problems.”

On why Constant Learn is embarking on this journey, Adejuyigbe said, “We looked at what is the current pain that may exist at this time, and we saw pricing as one of the major concerns for people that want to take technology courses and again we looked at classroom based training as limiting because you have to be physically present. Then we also noticed that training providers would leave learners to search for jobs themselves.” Constant Learn is here to address these challenges with our Career Ready Program (Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Track).

According to a 2017 McKinsey Report, about 75 to 375 million people may need to switch occupational categories and learn new skills. In July 2019, Amazon said it was going to hire 100,000 US employees for in-demand jobs by 2025.

Tosin Awe, Cloud Infrastructure Consultant at Accenture Canada and a keynote speaker at the session said one of the aims of the program is to introduce learners to what Data Science is all about and also the importance of Artificial Intelligence, as recent research shows that in the next few years many jobs currently in operation will be done by robots, thereby leading to massive job loss.

“You have to position yourself way ahead of time for the right opportunities, and one of the ways of doing such is to see into the future and mentally visualise what skills will be in hot demand in a few years from now. You have to look at every project with the angle of compassion. If you don’t have compassion in solving a problem, it would be very difficult to solve the problem,” Awe said.

The second keynote speaker, Toyin Agunbiade, Programme Lead, Kantar UK handled her session in an interactive manner as she asked the learners’ why they chose to engage in data science.

One of the learners, Unyime Akpabio said, “I see data as the new oil and with data you can have a little bit of insight into the future… that’s really mind-blowing for me.”

Speaking further, Agunbiade said, “In deciding on a career path in Data Science, you need to simplify things, by ensuring that you know exactly what you want to do. Secondly, what are the basic skills you need to be able to get into this field and the third part is what is your action plan.

“The beauty of being part of the Career Ready Programme is that you have a shoulder to stand on and people you can call on to ask questions, which is something I didn’t have when I started. So it’s a really good thing for you that you are part of this journey.”

On what Data Science is about, Agunbiade said, “Data Science is the use of statistical techniques to analyse raw data,” adding that “the basic skills a Data Scientist would need are - Programming Language, Statistics, Machine Learning, Advanced SQL and Communication.”

While speaking on the basic skills required for Data Science, Agunbiade stated, “I would always recommend that you start with Python. It’s easier to correct the mistakes you are making and to correct yourself going forward. That’s why I started with Python. I read a lot of articles and found out that I should start with Python so I don’t get frustrated before I learn R if I wanted to.

“Machine Learning is the system observing what you are doing and giving you options of other things you may be interested in, e.g. YouTube, Spotify.

“I believe that if you want to stand out in the market, you need to have a basic understanding of Advanced SQL.

“Communication is the most important skill. You have to learn how to tell stories.”

Speaking to the learners, Agunbiade said “you would have to plot your own learning journey.”

She stated that “applying Data Science in the real world requires understanding the company’s goals, the idea behind those goals, the company’s plans and how you can recreate their plans to be more realistic, then the implementation.”

While responding to participants questions on when the next set of learners will be accepted, Adejuyigbe said the second batch of learners would most likely start between the last week in February and the first week in March.

The closing remark was delivered by Agbolahan Olusola, the CTO and the co-founder of Constant Learn who thanked the participants for having faith in the company to deliver quality service and meet their needs.

He said, “We would do everything possible within our powers and within our contract to make sure that we deliver on our end, trusting that you would also will do everything within your power to live up to the expectation.

Speaking on the importance of the programme and its possibilities for the future, Gbolahan stated the time would arise when programming would be used to fight corruption in Nigeria.

Clever man!, very clever, iu can sense he has been putting together this statement to make sure it doesnt harm any of his political goodwill and also not appear to not be on the side of his people since it is clearly very emotional to them. All i can see in this write up is big big grammar so that the volume of people who would be able to truly understand his points would be less. The largely uneducated herdsmen and fulani can barely understand this, even educated ones would struggle. He has also refused to be be committal or take sides glaringly, so that he would not hurt his presidential ambition hopes. Sitting on the fence, wise man. I can say you deserve my applause on this one.

2 COMPULSORY COURSES

1) DATA SCIENCE 101 (3 HOURS)

a. The art of uncovering the insights and trends in data has been around since ancient times. The ancient Egyptians used census data to increase efficiency in tax collection and they accurately predicted the flooding of the Nile river every year. Since then, people working in data science have carved out a unique and distinct field for the work they do, this field is data science. In this course, we will meet some data science practitioners and we will get an overview of what data science is today.

1 ELECTIVE COURSE (Pick 1 from any of these)

3) R 101 ( 5 HOURS)

a. R is a powerful language for data analysis, data visualization, machine learning, statistics. Originally developed for statistical programming, it is now one of the most popular languages in data science. In this course, you'll be learning about the basics of R, and you'll end with the confidence to start writing your own R scripts. But this isn't your typical textbook introduction to R. You're not just learning about R fundamentals, you'll be using R to solve problems related to movies data. Using a concrete example makes the learning painless. You will learn about the fundamentals of R syntax, including assigning variables and doing simple operations with one of R's most important data structures -- vectors! From vectors, you'll then learn about lists, matrix, arrays and data frames. Then you'll jump into conditional statements, functions, classes and debugging. Once you've covered the basics - you'll learn about reading and writing data in R, whether it's a table format (CSV, Excel) or a text file (.txt). Finally, you'll end with some important functions for character strings and dates in R.

b. https://bigdatauniversity.com/courses/r-101/

4) DATA SCIENCE METHODOLOGY (5 HOURS)

a. Learn the major steps involved in tackling a data science problem.

b. Learn the major steps involved in practicing data science, with interesting real-world examples at each step: from forming a concrete business or research problem, to collecting and analyzing data, to building a model, and understanding the feedback after model deployment.

5) DATA SCIENCE HANDS-ON WITH OPEN SOURCE TOOLS (5 HOURS)

· In data science, the opportunity to practice may seem overwhelming initially in terms of the access and configuration of tools. Here is where Data Scientist Workbench, a free cloud-based offering, comes into play. Use this tool to build out your skills!

6) NOSQL AND DBAAS 101 (5 HOURS)

· With the advent of Big Data and agile development methodologies, NoSQL databases have gained a lot of relevance. Their main advantage is the ability to handle effectively scalability and flexibility issues for modern applications.

· Use the Cloudant NoSQL database as an example to learn how to create and replicate databases, load and query data, and other operations.

Well, I have an advice for you my boy @OP

From this moment, stop looking for true love

I'm not implying that you cannot find it but stop looking for it.

Rather start looking for a lady who is psychologically wired to always do the right thing and has a very advanced understanding of life.

See, in most cases, love is transient.

Sometimes, people fall in love because they fell into a moment where they perceived something that touched their heart from the other person. And then moments later, they find out that the feelings are lost.

sometimes, people fall in love because there's constant communication or commitment between both persons and they are just lost in the fun of it and think they are in love. If something happens that distracts one of them from achieving the constant communication or commitment to the other person, they find that they lose the love gradually.

sometimes, people's love for another person is usually connected to some features of that person that fascinates them or blows them away.

"oh, the guy is funny." "the girl is intelligent" "the guy is charming" "the girl is georgous" e.t.c and they continue to fall in love so far these qualities are present. But what happens when they lose those qualities or those qualities gradually fade away? that's how the love will also be lost or will gradually fade away.

So in most cases, love is transient. This is proven by the many broken relationships where you hear from both sides that they have fallen out of love.

So if a person were to enter a marriage because of love, he or she is likely to be no more interested in the marriage eventually and may crave attention or love elsewhere and may want to break up the marriage.

That's the reason why I said you should look for someone with a larger and better understanding of life and who is psychologically wired to do the right thing.

this is because when it gets to the stage in a marriage where both spouses have fallen out of love, for people who do not fulfil the said criteria (no understanding of life or being wired to do the right thing), they would want to break up or would start seeking love elsewhere and they many end up cheating etc.

But for someone who fulfils that criteria;

- someone who understands that this life is not a bed of roses and it is not everything you want that you get;

- someone who understands that the purpose of marriage is not necessarily to love rather it is to show care, support each other, become responsible, help each other achieve desired goals and for mankind to multiply (procreation);

- someone who understands that there is time for everything and there are some certain pleasures that should not be sought at all stages of life or the pleasures should be limited at some point in time (imagine a 45 year old woman complaining that her husband doesn't take her out for shopping or so like he used to when she was still 25 when she should be more concerned about caring for the kids that she didn't have then but have now and focus on making them successful in life)

- someone who understands that this life itself is a place of trials and there'll always be sour times or times when you would have to forgo your heart desires for the right thing to be done;

- someone who understands that the pleasures of the hereafter are far greater than those of this life and is more concerned about that and because of that, he or she gives up some pleasures in this world just for the right thing to be done.

- someone who has values, who understands cheating is bad, who understands that it is an evil thing to extort or deceive a partner for personal gains, who knows how to control anger and doesn't expect perfection from the other partner, who understands that for a marriage to work, both sides must be committed to it, who understands that deceiving a partner and extorting him should not be the measure by which you "make it in life", and who is psychologically wired to follow all those values;

So for someone who has a better understanding of life and is wired to do the right thing, such are the people who stay in a marriage when there's no more "love" or when they have fallen out of love and continue to try everything to make it work till the end.

So this is what you should be looking for, for "true love" Is scarce.

If eventually you are able to find true love in a partner that fulfils the above criteria, then consider it a plus, consider it a blessing and thank God for it.

My piece!
yeah, and your piece just made my evening, you too get sense jare, I hope young girls of today see this

feelz:
90% of Nigeria girls are not interested in such conversation, people that dont even know basic stuff as the governor of there state down to knowing what's just going on around. They derive pleasure in watching soap opera's, having unproductive discussion and using emotional way to get money from guys. I can go on and on listing. Nigerian girls have a very long way to go.
this is so true! Spot on, we have alot of brain dead girls around, who have let society define them. They have nothing more to offer, but have alot to gain from guys around them. When we shout feminism feminism, I just laugh because in this part of the world men, girls just love being second fiddle
