imotondo: JTF Kill Top Bokoharam Commander
BY NDAHI MARAMA, MAIDUGURI
Mohammed Chad, a top Boko Haram Commander and an indigene of Marte Local Government Area of Borno State who has been on the wanted list of the Joint Task Force (JTF) has been killed in a shootout with JTF and men of the SSS at Ruwan Zafi of Maiduguri Metropolis in Borno.
The JTF Spokesman Leuitenant Colonel Sagir Musa in Maiduguri last night said, a special operation was conducted at Ruwan – Zafi area of Maiduguri metropolis by troops of the JTF Operation RESTORE ORDER and operatives of the department of State Security Service (SSS) at about 3:00 am on Friday 26 April, 2013 “led to the death of a notorious Boko Haram terrorist a.k.a Mohammed Chad, an indigene of Marte, Borno State that has been on the wanted list of the JTF”.
He added that intelligence indicated that he was involved in the planning/execution of many terror attacks in and outside Borno State. For instance, he masterminded the attack on Sanda Kyarimi Secondary Schools located at Ruwan Zafi, where they killed a teacher and injured 3 female students on 18 March 13.
Sagir however stated that the suspect is believed to be the successor to Ba,ana Assalafi a key Boko Haram Commander that lost his life during a shoot out with security agencies in Sokoto on 13 March 2013.

Monies budgeted for amnesty for boko haram, should be used for the importation of drones, heavy war machines, r.p.gs', modern a.p.cs', rocket launchers, grenades and bombs for our JTF. Nigerians! say no to amnesty for mindless mudderers. God bless Sagir. |

tbaba1234: Qur’an – The Centripetal Force By Mehreen Omer
Life has always been a mystery for me; it is an enigma perhaps no one can solve. But one thing that I’ve been able to discern from my life is that the Qur’an keeps your life in order. The longer and the further you go away from it, the greater the chance of your life going out of control. The Qur’an is that very centripetal force that prevents us from delving into total chaos.
And I say that out of experience. Time and time again, someone was trying to teach me a lesson; someone was telling me beware. And time and time again, I tried to keep my heart shut to any advice. I was warned several times, and I still ignored. I was told by my conscience to keep reading and understanding the Qur’an, but I was too busy to believe it was such a big priority.
Ever since my dad passed away, everything completely changed. All my relationships and friendships became superficial – or perhaps I became too cynical to call them any better. Trying to struggle in this world and fighting out your way all alone is something that supposedly makes hero. It made me a monster.
If there was anything that consoled me during my hardest of times, it was the Qur’an. It gave life to a despairing heart – literally. When I look back at how I managed to keep calm during the first few months after I lost my dad, I realize it was nothing more than my closeness to the Qur’an and understanding through it that this life is temporary.
But then this world overpowered me – I wanted to be successful and make lots of money so that I could keep my family happy – a family that had no son to do the job. I started pushing people away, becoming irritated at the slightest of disturbances. I thought being rude to people was justified given my predicament. It wasn’t. I left reading the Qur’an as I became too busy in my studies and other work. I started leaving my prayers for the first time in my life.
Reality set in when I realized how lonely I’d become. I had no one to rely on to. This paved the way for despair – there was a time when I asked Allah to just take my life, since I found nothing in this life worth living for. But I couldn’t die; I had done so many bad deeds that I had to make up for. Life soon became a torture, I cannot even explain to myself.
As I write this article, I see the Qur’an right next to me waiting for me to open it. How many times has Allah (swt) explained in the Qur’an that everything will perish, except His Majesty? How many times has Allah (swt) told us not to get too much attached to this world because it is a mirage that only disappoints you if you try to make it your final destination? How many times has Allah (swt) spoken directly to my heart and told me to come back to the friend who never leaves? What in the world would make me realize that the reason for my sadness is not the tragedy of life itself, but my abandonment of the Qur’an?
Because no matter how hard we try for the pursuit of happiness, the only thing that will give us so is its true source.
“Only in remembrance of Allah (swt) will your heart find peace.” (Qur’an 13:28)
Perhaps before falling in to despair, we should think if we have tried all doors. Because maybe, the only door we have not tried is the one that was there right in front of our eyes all the time.
http://www.suhaibwebb.com/islam-studies/quran/quran-the-centripetal-force/ but, to me, whenever i hear a word that sound kooo'ranic, what i see in display from my imagination is a series of booklet that contains info c.a.p.a.b.le of spreading a t.h.i.c.k f.l.a.m.e of vi.o.lence. Ituah, who was speaking yesterday during a church service, revealed that he was in Maiduguri during the week and that Catholic faithfuls, were forced to conduct services under the sun and rain, because of the destruction carried out by the Islamists.
“Out of the 52 catholic churches in Maiduguri diocese, 50 of them have been destroyed by Boko Haram. Yet the faithful are not discouraged of their faith. You would always see them worshipping under rain and sun in open places at the site of their destroyed places of worship,” he stated.
He also encourgaed the Catholics in Kurudu, to continually pray for their Maiduguri counterparts and those in other regions, where insurgency is a threat. Where is this country heading to and some people are clamouring amnesty for this group?

Russia-trained medical doctor and radical Northern Nigeria politician, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, this morning on a radio show in Abuja said that for his acts of insincerity and dishonesty in Aso Rock, former President Olusegun Obasanjo once beat up Dr. Doyin Okupe, who is now President Goodluck Jonathan’s defender-in-chief. He also hit at Jonathan’s political adviser, Ahmed Gulak, whom he dismissed as a desperate and illogical politician sailing on the capsized boat of a failed presidency. “I was there when President Olusegun Obasanjo physically beat and assaulted him because of his attitude and lack of honesty,” he said of Okupe. “I was also there when Chief of Staff to Obasanjo, Maj.Gen. Mohammed called him and scolded him because of his behaviour. And the same character is today entering what he doesn’t know, is a PR practitioner? Is he a journalist?” Mohammed further described Okupe as “shameless,” adding that he has ignorantly been defending President Jonathan without being privy to the reality of Jonathan’s atrocities, as a result of which Okupe will continue to face morality and credibility challenges. “I know how he kept troubling Obasanjo and he was given the job, later on he showed his [true] colours and was kicked-out…He is busy doing harm again to his remaining person. Even Gulak with his proud moustache is doing same, shamelessly because of Jonathan.” When the moderator asked Junaid, what did Okupe did to defend himself when Obasanjo was beating him up, Mohammed responded, “What would he do? Do you know who were there? There were deluges of security operatives, no matter [his being] younger than Obasanjo, he could not help himself but just received the beatings.” He challenged Okupe to deny his account. “I was there and saw it, let him come out and deny it, let’s see.”

udatso: Emir of Anka in Zamfara State, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, has asked President Goodluck Jonathan not to grant amnesty to members of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar lll, had at a meeting of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Kaduna, last week, urged the President to grant members of the sect amnesty.
However, the Emir of Anka at a workshop on peace building and conflict management for sustainable development, organised by the National Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday in Kaduna, said “amnesty is for people you can identify”.
He added, “Where were our leaders when members of Boko Haram were going to receive trainings outside the country. Let us check ourselves, if there must be justice, we must go back to the basics.”
He also blamed the current security challenges on the elite and politicians.
Ahmad said, “From experience, I have come to realise that whenever you have crisis and a proper investigation is carried out, you always find the involvement of these two classes. Within my domain, a sad experience occurred sometimes ago when an Igbo man, who owned a shop, was attacked and his shop burnt because his son was said to have torn a copy of the Quran. But upon investigation, I found out that a native of Anka, who was also in the same business with the Igbo man, deliberately roped-in the Igbo family.
“He took a piece of paper with an Islamic inscription on it and tore it into pieces in front of the Igbo man’s shop and then raised the alarm calling on all Muslims faithful to come and see a copy of the Quran torn into pieces by the son of the Igbo trader. The crowd grew angry and set the house and the shop of the Igbo man ablaze immediately. You can see that this native of Anka did this malicious act purely for personal interest and not religion. And that is how it is with the elite and the politicians”.
He added, “As a traditional ruler, who lives with the people, I have come to a conclusion that if the common man is left alone, there is going to be peace in the land. But any place you find crisis, just look around, you must find the involvement of these two classes – the elite and the politicians.”

femilek8: This terrorist group jumped to the forefront of the battle against Islamist terrorists in North Africa, when it kidnapped a French family from Cameroon. But who is this group? How did it start? And what role did Nigeria’s faction fighting have in its emergence? Here are 10 facts about Boko Haram.
Who is Boko Haram?
Boko Haram is the name of a large Islamist group fighting in northern Nigeria. Its aim is to establish an independent Islamic state under Sharia law. But this is only partially accurate. The group’s proper name is Jamā'atu Ahlis Sunnah Lādda'awatih wal-Jihad (People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet's Teachings and Jihad). ‘Boko Haram’ was a dismissive name given by neighbours of the sect in its early years and means “Western Education Is Forbidden” in the Hausa language; alluding to the group’s hard-line belief that Western ideas, particularly from British colonialism, have turned Muslims away from the virtues of Islam.
How Boko Haram Got Started
The group originally formed in 2002 as a breakaway sect that eventually moved to a rural village, where it planned to run its own Sharia-based society. A conflict over fishing rights there soon involved the police, who were disarmed by the sect. Nigeria’s military cracked down brutally, killing most of the group. The survivors regrouped and started a new Islamic order, which grew thanks to broad unemployment and the charismatic leadership of Mohammed Yusuf.
Boko Haram Takes Its Gloves Off
In 2009 the group became more radical - Yusuf ordered the assassination of a critical local Muslim cleric. Another confrontation with police led to a riot and brutal state crackdown, leaving Yusuf and many followers dead. But the group soon emerged again, this time under the leadership of Yusuf’s right-hand man Abubakar Shekau. The event also saw members make contact with other Islamist groups, who helped train and arm the sect. Their violent retribution was soon blanketed by media and politicians as under Boko Haram
North/South Frictions
The Islamism of Boko Haram is just a part of the story. Nigeria suffers from incredible factional fighting, particularly between the North and South. The North was an Islamic state since the early 19th century - this changed when the British forced the two parts into a single colony during the early 1900s. A major flashpoint is between the northern Islamic Fulani and southern Christian Berom tribes. The Berom have been accused of attacking the Fulani with government assistance, including cannibalism. There were also the Jos riots, centring around a Nigerian city in the middle of the country - this escalated to a conflict between 2001 and 2004 that left over 50,000 people dead. Such events have often been cited by Boko Haram leadership as justification for its own brutal campaigns.
The Role Of Nigeria’s Police And Military
Though Boko Haram has plenty of blood on its hands, many also blame the police and military for adding to the fire. During the 2009 crackdown, the sect’s leader Mohammed Yusuf was dead within hours of his capture - police claim he was shot while escaping, but evidence suggest he was executed. The police and military also executed dozens of people without trial, often on the flimsy accusations of other religious groups which would usually get the slain person’s property as a reward. In other words, it turned into a witch hunt. Both police and military forces have been accused of torture and executions across Nigeria - from Niger Delta militants in the South to Northern sects like Boko Haram. Women and children have not been spared and the guilt of a person is rarely determined. The forces are also known for being very corrupt and police chiefs running their own fiefdoms are not uncommon.
The Role Of Nigeria’s Government
Though Nigeria’s government has cast itself as a hapless victim of Islamic terrorism, it is anything but. Prosecutions of security forces committing murder and torture are practically non-existent. Political opportunism is also quite common: Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Jonathan, has often accused Boko Haram of being strongly tied to groups such as al-Qaeda, a claim that until recently has been false. He has used this as a means to convince countries such as the U.S. and Britain to send financial aid, downplaying the significant role regional politics have played in forming such factions. Jonathan has also repeatedly accused the power elite in Nigeria’s north of controlling Boko Haram, even though experts agree that this is a complete fabrication. Political rivals have been arrested under flimsy charges that they were tied to the Islamists.
The Crimes Of Boko Haram
Boko Haram, though, is no saintly organisation. Its hard-line views have led to many attacks and executions. The group targets Christians and Muslims alike, though it has a special liking for attacking police and military forces. These attacks have occurred several times a week, if not daily, since 2010. It has also killed children and blown up schools, not to mention medical personnel, religious buildings, sports venues, people playing cards games - the list goes on. The group does not limit its forms of violence either: kidnappings, car bombs, suicide bombers, drive-by shootings and beheadings all form part of its repertoire. But the biggest problem is distinguishing between violence orchestrated by Boko Haram and other factions.
Who Is and Isn’t Boko Haram?
Practically every bombing, gun attack and kidnapping is attributed to Boko Haram by Nigeria’s government. In reality it is not so clear-cut. For example, a foiled plot to bomb a church turned out not to be by the group, but by a rival Christian faction. Likewise, Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility for some kidnappings and events such as the recent execution of polio vaccinators. Criminal gangs have also used Boko Haram to disguise their own illegal activities. Late last year the group Human Rights Watch estimated that nearly 3,000 people have died in this conflict since 2009, yet noted that state security forces were as responsible for executions as Boko Haram. Several splinter Islamist groups have also surfaced, orchestrating attacks that are usually pinned on Boko Haram without any proof.
Going To War With The West
The Islamist sect has largely not targeted Western interests - Boko Haram has been violently active in Nigeria since 2009, but only rose to international attention when it bombed a U.N. building in 2011. Since then its focus on non-Nigerian targets have largely been kidnappings, of which there have been several. Most recently a French family was abducted by the group and in 2011 its fighters captured two British and Italian men - both died when British special forces tried to rescue them. The group has also been linked to the kidnapping or murders of French, German, Chinese and Indian foreigners. But despite claims to the contrary, Boko Haram’s links with other Islamist terror groups only became galvanised when French forces entered Mali. Since then the group has placed a lot more focus on international targets.
A Chance For Peace?
One thing that almost universally agreed on is that there is no chance that Boko Haram and Nigeria’s government will make peace. Setting aside the decades of ill-will felt by the country’s North towards the South, Nigeria’s rulers are not making it easy. In 2012 a cleric mediating talks between the sect and government withdrew, accusing the government of insincerity. Boko Haram, though a singular large group, is also very disparate. Organised into numerous cells, there is no guarantee that what one part of the group agrees to will be supported by the rest. Last year a Boko Haram commander proposed peace talks with the government, but nothing came of this because there was no indication that he spoke for the entire organisation.
