The Joint Task Force in Borno State says 52 members of the dreaded Islamic sect the Boko Haram were killed in a clash with security forces yesterday in Maiduguri the state capital.
The success is coming just one day after the president; Dr Goodluck Jonathan had lavished praises on the JTF for its gallantry in the fight against the menace of the Boko Haram during his two day official visit to Borno state.
A statement made available to newsmen in Maiduguri the Borno State capital by the JTF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa reveals that JTF lost two personnel in the operation carried out between 3:00 and 8:00 PM yesterday around Bulabulin, Bayern quarters and Jajeri areas of Maiduguri metropolis.
The operation according to the statement was based on information and intelligent report leading to series of operations for the past ten days.
During the operation which witnessed stiff resistance yesterday by the insurgents according to the statement, ten out of the 52 killed are commanders of the insurgent, while three personnel of the security forces sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Yesterday’s operation according to Sagir Musa recorded the largest arms recovery ever made by the JTF since the commencement of the insurgency.
Items recovered include 3 anti-aircraft guns, 10 Rocket Propelled Grenade Tubes, 3 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 17 AK 47 Rifles.
Others include; 20 RPG Bombs, 12 RPG chargers, 36 hand-held grenades, 33 AK47 magazines, 11 FN magazines and 11,068 assorted Ammunitions.
The operation according to the statement also led to the recovery of two technical vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft stands, five walkie-talkies, 4 VHF hand held sets and assorted uniforms and kits among others.
The statement also thanked members of the public and JTF moles in the Boko Haram camp for the timely information and asking other people to do same in the fight against the sects.

Hello Nairalanders, Happy New Month, I Helped a very close friend of mine to find a good job that pays close to hundred thousand naira, after her first pay she Just stopped calling, texting, keeping in touch as she does before. Its not that she is that busy because she does 2days off and 3days on (Mon to Fri). I don't need her money; if she gives me any, I will definitely not collect. I still try to keep in touch but she ain't reciprocating. She gists me about the work place and other things but if I ask now, she always has nothing to say.
NB: Am still schooling.
How would you feel if you are in my shoes? I want to learn here so you candid advise will be appreciated. firstly, under wat agreement did u help her get d job? Is it on a condition that u wil marry her thereafter? If yes, keep pasuading her by way of sweet talks or tell ur best freind to assist u in talking sence into her mendula. But if ur answer is 'no', go ahead with ur life and continue to giv God the glory for atleast bringing a meaning into someones' life. Allow her to go with her conscience and i bet u, her conscience will continualy punish her til eternity unless she realize her wrong and ask 4 pardon. |

Elueme: ACN governors are bunch of hypocrites. When Oshiomohle misfired, I suspected there was a gang up by the ACN against this tour. Reason being that the tour may also highlight the positive sides of the PDP led federal government. The truth be told ACN has enjoyed undue media propaganda, a situation a known friend who works for one of the print media confidently told me that it was a deliberate plot to checkmate the overbearing influence of the PDP and entrench competitiveness in the polity by helping ACN raise the bar. The ACN govt is getting this whole thing wrong because they also stand a chance to showcase their works except they got things they are hiding. I was shocked at the revelations that the popular Ogbowo road and Akpakpava roads as well as other achievements in Edo state which Oshiomohle had since taken credit were executed by the federal government. This is the deceit of these people coupled with the imbalance in press reportage. I see why these ACN govs will do everything to frustrate this loud able projects which seek to dwell on development rather than the issue violence and political tussle between gladiators which our media have been awashed in recent times. tanks men! oshiomole is doing noting in edo state. He specialized in using virtualy all the state resources in buying flowers and painting uncopleted roads to decieve the ppl dat he is working, meanwhile, billions of naira alocated to the state cannot be accounted for. |

The French family was kidnapped by the Nigerian terror group.
Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, has released a video showing the French family kidnapped in Cameroon, near the border with Nigeria.
The three minutes, 26 seconds video, posted on YouTube on Monday, shows the seven members of the Moulin Fournier family, kidnapped on February 19.
The video shows three adult members of the family-two men and one woman; and four children sitting between two armed men, masked, and in military fatigue, and a third who acted as the group spokesperson.
The spokesperson confirmed they belong to the Jama’a Ahl al-Sunnah lil Da’wa wal Jihad, better known as Boko Haram.
He accused France of waging war on Islam, and said the condition for releasing their hostages was for the Nigerian government to release all female jihadists imprisoned, while the Cameroonian government releases their male counterparts.
“Finally, I say to you, fulfill all of these things, and if you leave one thing from them we will slaughter those we took, we will slaughter those we took,” the spokesperson threatened at the end of the video.
The release comes a day after a faction of the group told journalists in Nigeria they were pushing for a ceasefire and that the leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau, was in support of dialogue with the government.
French President, François Hollande, had mentioned Boko Haram as the kidnappers of the hostages. French and Cameroonian authorities also said the hostages were later taken to Nigeria after their kidnap in Cameroon.
