Standard Organisation of Nigeria said it takes 15 years for gas cylinders to expire. And that the date people mistake for expiry date is actually the due date for inspection of the cylinder |
I remember how a family member who is a Pharmacist with a Teaching hospital told me how useless biochemistry was when I told him I had gotten admission to study the course in the varsity. Eight months after NYSC I secured a job with an INGO and now earns more than a Prof or perhaps a Pharmacist in the Teaching hospital with many years of experience. The summary is,God has mapped out a destiny for everyone, try to know where he is leading you to and waste no time, graduate ASAP,age matters in job search. In all, with God on your side you will succeed |

Exactly same thing happened to me. I after several calls and visit to GTBANK branch, was told it will take 45 days to get back to me. waited for more than 45 days no response So I had to send a mail,to my surprised, gtbank replied that the transactions was consummated using the OTP that was sent to my registered email and phone number,I was so shocked to hear this so I went back to my inbox and email to confirm, nothing of such was sent to me,Which made me conclude that there must be an insider. I reported the matter to EFCC,which I was invited weeks later to their zonal office to write a statement, but till date my 110k nas not be refunded. I am beginning to think of engaging a lawyer. If it has not happened to you you will think the victim is not been honest in his/her story. In my case I received a call too,but gave the guy a wrong number from the one that was sent to me.Whicb he the caller confirm that it was wrong. It was even two days later that I started receiving debit alerts. |
Thanks for the info. Where can I get the improved variety seedling in Cross River state? |

It's a rare phenomenon,but I have seen it happen Tolexander: |
I am not contradicting myself.I am only placing side by side my experience with the knowledge I acquired in class. For those who think I saw a hen it's not true,i actually look after these chicken myself so I see it crow even after that time.My mum and siblings also saw it. I Google this and realised it's a rare phenomenon but no scientific explanation to it,but I have seen it more than once 1StopRudeness: |
As a child my mum had a poultry farm made of local (native) fowls. On more than one occasion I have seen a matured cock lay an egg: the egg is the size of a bird's(say pigeon) egg,in one of the time I saw it came out the cocks anus together with faeces.I remember asking my agriculture Teacher back in secondary school but he said it's not possible and as I scientist (Biochemist) I now it's not possible since a cock has no reproductive system for egg formation but at the same time I can't deny that I haven't seen this happen, cos I did saw it with my very eyes come out of the cock. I was discussing with a friend and he said in Tiv (of Benue state) culture, the egg has spiritual significant as native doctors equate it to the life of a man and used it in exchange for human life. In Bekwarra(of Cross River) culture this egg is known as "ate igbatorobi".I know this may sound funny but I have witnessed this happen. Anyone has seen this phenomenon before? |

Wow! A big congratulations missyojo: |
Admin please take this to front page to encourage other nairalanders. You will agree with me that life after NYSC is one of the most challenging for an average graduate in Nigeria considering the difficulty in securing a job let a alone a good one. My story is that of Grace and persistence. After NYSC and having spent months at home sending application after application both online and physically without yielding any positive result to a point that I believed online application were all lies and that these guys already have candidates of their choice and that they are only advertising to fulfill all righteousness. Nevertheless I never gave up but kept applying "a drowning man will catch even a straw" ,one day while scanning through nairaland, career section in particular,i saw a call for application I almost did not applied for the position, because the advert looked very unserious and even the reference mail for application was even Gmail as in my belief any serious organisation of international standard should have a company email. Not withstanding I applied and was invited for interview, upto the point I got to their office I had to call home to tell my location just incase it was 419.the office was a private apartment in one of the choicest places in the FCT,No sign post of any kind indicating that it was an office,i went in met the reception and was invited over later for a chat and technical assessment and subsequently given an internship job with a pay of just #20,000 when I spent 600 to 700 naira daily for feeding and transport fare.I almost resigned but on a second thought I was gaining experience which I needed so much,so I continued. Prior to the expiration of my internship, among other intern I was retained as a full staff with good pay and benefits. Bottom line,"never judge a book by it's cover" and the taste of the pudding is in the eating. Many thanks Nairaland and I return all Glory to God. For all those still seeking for a job here especially fresh graduates, never neglect the days of little beginning, dont always consider the pay but the job prospects and the feather the experience will add to your CV,and surely you will find your dream Job.I realised that many organisations are actually looking for talented youths but don't have they luxury of creating a room for trainees cos of company policies, cost etc,so if you see anyone opportunity even if it means volunteering for free just to gain experience do it. |
OK then, for now there is none and I wish u success in ur search for one.I believe ur experience with WHO will be a door opener.I also started with volunteering missyojo: |

A 13-man National Selection Committee has been inaugurated and given four days to submit names of deserving corps members for the 2017 President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award. NYSC File: NYSC members Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Monday, the NYSC Director-General, Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, charged them to approach the process dispassionately and improve on existing standards. Kazaure said that the management of the scheme expects the committee to emerge with candidates who by every standard would be acceptable to all. He said that he was optimistic the committee would deliver on the mandate given to it. “As the highest body saddled with the evaluation of the performance and selection of corps members for the award, this committee is expected to improve on the standards set already. “As you embark on this round of selection process, I implore you to approach the task dispassionately. This is because management expects the emergence of candidates who by every standard will be acceptable to all. “As you may be aware, the President’s NYSC honours award was instituted in 1974 as a way of encouraging corps members to contribute to the overall national development by embarking on community development projects. “The award is also to serve as motivation for hard work and reward for excellence among corps members. Since its commencement, the award has had numerous recipients. “Community development service remains one of the major areas where the scheme has recorded remarkable success. “The good image of the scheme is soaring partly due to corps members activities and involvement in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare delivery and agriculture in many rural communities across the country,” Kazaure said. Mr Abdulrasheed Sanusi, the NYSC Director, Corps Welfare and Inspectorate, said that the selection process was in three stratas; namely local government, state and national selection committees. Sanusi assured that in order to ensure a smooth and hitch-free national selection exercise, the department has conducted due diligence and verified claims from state secretariats to forestall novelty and frivolities. According to the director, on the spot assessment of the projects were carried out and briefs have been prepared on each corps member to support the citations forwarded by the state secretariates. “It is therefore, the duty of the national selection committee to meticulously assess the nominees and select diamonds from other pearls using the set criteria. “The committee has been given four days to present their final selection of corps members to be given the awards. The preliminary work is almost done and the selection committee is here to ensure that our final selection shows objectivity. “We have put together certain criteria to ensure objectivity in the selection of award winners and very soon the award ceremony will be done.’’ Prof. Angela Miri, the Chairman of the Committee and Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, assured that the committee would ensure transparency and objectivity in the process. Miri said that the committee would work hard and sieve through all the names previously selected and submitted at the local, state and national levels and come up with truly deserving corps members to receive the honours award. The vice chancellor listed some of the criteria given to the committee to use for selection to include corps members who have diligently carried out community development service, completed them and have been assessed. Other criteria include corps members whose community development projects have directly and positively impacted the communities in which they have served and those who were committed during the orientation course. Members of the committee include two NYSC retired directors, a representative from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development. The committee also comprises a representative from the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army. Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), as well as the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLT) are also represented in the committee.
