This is a very good news, With the advantage of shared common language and culture, crime prevention and containment will be relatively easy.
Federal police officers, prior now are posted randomly to states where the cooperation of the local populace is essential in carrying out effective policing.

However, stringent measures will be put in place to  prevent the abusive use of the force to oppress political  opponents. This should not normally happen,  since the  overriding interest of a political leader is to rule over a state, where  the people go about their daily activities in peace and the government is also at peace. Even at that, bad politicians and leaders still use thugs to harass their people and political rivals

The decision of the Federal Government to approve State and Local Government police under the leadership of a Police Commissioner  is a good decision,
But Community policing is also confronted with the challenges of discipline, training, remuneration, management, organisational structure and legality. The personnel could however be screened and those who qualify and are found suitable may be coopted into the state police force.
The overriding advantages of a state police cannot be overemphasised.  The threats posed by insurgents, murderers, bandits, kidnappers, suicide bombers and other criminals are real and all measures in whatever form taken to confront these threats should be embraced.

Chief John Odigie Oyegun, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that his successor, Adams Oshiomhole, lacks capacity to manage a political party.

He was reacting to the allegation by the South-South APC chairmen, that he laid landmines for the Oshiomhole-led national executive.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Public Affairs Adviser, Chief Ray Morphy, Oyegun described it as “ludicrous and infantile and an attempt to dream up justification for the failings of the party under Oshiomhole chairmanship”.

Oyegun also stated that the crisis in states, arose out of sheer incapacity on Oshimhole’s part.

“Already, the Deputy National Chairman has confirmed that Oshiomhole runs the party without recourse to the NWC.

“How would you not have crisis in states with the confusion that Oshiomhole created when he gave the states freedom to choose their methods of choosing candidates for elections. Much of the crisis in states arose out of sheer incapacity on the part of the current chairman, how does this Oshiomhole incapacity become booby traps by Oyegun.

“Many party men were aghast at the unfairness and injustice meted them during the primaries process.

“Only a bad carpenter quarrels with his tools. Indeed Oshiomhole is degrading and demarketing the party, rather than seek to bring more people on board, he is rather chasing people out of the party with his agbero style of engagement,” Oyegun added.

Two kidnap suspects who were arrested by the operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Kaduna State, have disclosed that they give special treatment to their victims because they are whites.

The arrested suspects, Abdulmimini Adamu and Usman Abdulahi, were said to have been involved in the kidnapping of four expatriates – two Americans and two Canadians – and killing of two policemen on their escort. It was further gathered that the gang's leader identified simply as Dogo, and three other members of the gang, were fatally wounded in a gun duel with the police detectives at their hideout in Kuire forest, near Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.

One of the arrested kidnap suspects,  20-year-old Adamu, a native of Igabi Local Government area of Kaduna State and father of one who confessed to have participated in the crime, revealed that they give special treatment to their victims because they are whites. According to him, he got got N5m share from the ransom paid, which he invested in cattle rearing.
