Christianity EtcRe: Boko Haram Kill Children Of Ex-Boko Haram Member For Converting To Christianity by goggs(m): 8:00pm On Dec 27, 2011
i dont know why Muslim will be hyper ventilating over missionaries to the extent of fabricating stories about missionaries going undercover. They dont need to at all. Missionaries are well know for their charitable works, hospitals, clinics, schools and food programmes. They are so open minded that ANYBODY is welcomed to their facilty. I was at a Catholic Hospital the other day and one of the porters is a Muslim. At the time for afternoon prayers, he took excuse and headed out to an area of the hospital where their WAS A MAKESHIFT MOSQUE and prayed. That is tolerance! Which Muslim organisation will take a Christian worker? Or even allow him pray on the grounds. Even Sanusi Lamido Sanusi went to a missionary School. Did he ever say an attempt was made to convert him? Did he convert? St Geralds in Kaduna has tended to all, many Muslim families are treated there and Muslim babies born there. I was in the interior of Plateau state some 3 years back and there were missionaries distributing free drugs and carrying out free treatment.

Missionaries really dont need training to evangelise. What they give is genuine and most importantly THEY DONT FORCE ANYONE. I have never heard missionaries asking if you are Muslim or Christian before administering drugs. More often you hear of Missionary Trained Nurses/Teachers/Administrators.

Who is largely responsible for the eradication of Guinea worm in Northern Nigeria? What of River Blindness in Northern nigeria? Was it Islamic Charities NO! but the beneficiaries are mostly Muslims and they were not asked to convert nor have they converted. That is what a religion should be - concern for one another even to the far ends of the earth

How come Saudi Arabia is not interested in providing health services or food or clothing? Just mosques and the like. And they can afford it. Why are the Saudis not the biggest humanitarian donors to the Palestinians? The US (with all their lame support to the Palestinian cause) are. Why?

Ask questions and seek genuine answers not some lame conspiracy theories.

another curious thing is why LagoShia and his friend resort to insults so easily? oh I remember cursing is part of the Quran. Muhammad cursed easily. Curse this curse that. The bible, in contrast says, we shall be responsible for any word we speak. so cursing is not taken lightly. Curse on, for the Bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Thanks for your reply, was about to do that but I support your post.

May I add I notice that LagoShia love picking up verses in isolation to compile is posts, infact even using parts of parables to make points without looking in to the context of the verse see some;

But that begs the question, will it be done IN JESUS' NAME? No dude. It would be some disgruntled elements angry at happening around the country and believe me CAN will not mince words to condemn that in its entirety. How long have Christian suffered in the North because of this madness. Infact in 2009 in jigawa a policeman shot dead a hawker over the later resisting arrest, the result 10 churches were burnt! Christianity EtcRe: Jesus (pbuh) Only Sent To The Jews And Not To Nigerians-leave Him Alone! by goggs(m): 3:33pm On Dec 27, 2011
this is the justificatiion

(1) Muslims are to murder Jews.

Sahih Bukhari Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176: Narrated by 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.'" Sahih Bukhari Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177: Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

(2) Muslims are to murder non-Muslims.

Qur'an 2:191: And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.

(3) Muslims are to murder people who left Islam.

Qur'an 4:089: They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.

(4)  Muslims are to murder people they did not trust.

Qur'an 4:091: You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority.

(5)  Muslims are to murder people they thought to be idolaters.

Qur'an 9:005: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

(6) Muslims are to murder people if they thought it was a just cause.

Qur'an 17:033: And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided.

I would rather a prophet preaching  peace to Mankind; that other people are to be looked upon with compassion - and with the two greatest commandment (Mark 12: 30 -31)

(a) LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
(b) LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF

And it is shown your neighbour is ANYBODY around you, pagan or not.

In contrast Jesus said "For GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, " (JOHN 3: 16) and again it is writen "While WE WERE YET SINNERS CHRIST DIED FOR US,  (Romans 5:

Quran says in Surah 2:190: For Allah loves not Transgressors. Why Should I submit to a God that hates me? I would rather a God that loves me and wants me to turn from sin and has taken the necessary steps for that to be possible

Christianity EtcRe: Jesus (pbuh) Only Sent To The Jews And Not To Nigerians-leave Him Alone! by goggs(m): 12:31pm On Dec 27, 2011
Matthew 15:22-24
"And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel".
Jesus came he concentrated his activities in the land of Israel, got his disciples until his ministry reached the point of sending his disciples in what is know as the great commission (Mark 16: 15-17), Everything was in accordance to a plan. in fact his mother tried to make him move up a notch faster and he refused  (John 2:1-11)Look at the entire chapter (you are fond of lifting verses in isolation);

And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.[e]

He tested her faith almost to the point where she ought to have succumbed, she didnt and got her wish. This is a classical example of perserverance that is an important lesson in Christianity. Christians undergo tough situations and perserver to the end.

of course after assembling the apostles he gave the great commission (Mark 16: 15-17). There is no contradiction.

Matthew 10:5-6
"These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel".
Again part of my explanation above will suffice. Read the entire chapter and get an insight. It was all in Gods plan in stages before the great commision was given

Funny you should say that the bible is full of contradictions when the Quran is full of them. The law of Abrogation  Surah 2:106 is specifically to handle that embarassment (None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?)

That law took care of Meccan Revelations in the Quran which were largely benign and the Medinna Revelation which were stringent. Contradictions such as - (i) There is no compulsion in religion; then to killing apostates (2) then from some wine drinking; then none (Surah 2:219 From this ayah it was taught that drinking and gambling could provide a benefit and also have bad effects. To identify that the practice of drinking wine was not uncommon among Muslims, another ayah was revealed that forbade the Muslims to come to prayer drunk Surah 4:43).

in fact I cant post more but I have no time to waste further; just check out;  Surah 2:62 (some claim this is abrogated by Surah 3:85); Surah 5:69 (some claim this is also abrogated by Surah 3:85); and so on.

You see when Mohammed received his revelations, he concentrated his activities to Mecca with soft verses like Qur'an 2:256 (there is no compulsion in religion) to hard ones like 9:5: "Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." and  9:29: "Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute [jizya tax] readily, being brought low." [This verse, in the context of Sura 9, orders that People of the Book (Christians and Jews) be fought, killed, converted, or else subjugated (to dhimmi status, a humiliating, onerous, second-class citizen position, dhimmis can convert to Islam or else keep their religion and pay the jizya ("protection"wink tax. Refusal to pay the jizya results in execution]. Note that the oppressive conditions of dhimmitude could compel some dhimmis to opt for conversion to Islam. Obviously, such conversions would constitute yet another form of compulsion in Islam.

So tell me LagoShia if this is no contradiction? Instead of focusing our energies on reaching out to to the world to ensure peace, development and enlightenment, we spend time arguing over non essentials. You gloat with glee over your exploits on the Bible; but there are tons out there on the Quran. I could go on and on. Divert your energies to the greater good, there are millions out there that need help, hope and assistance. Think of how to make the world better.

Christianity EtcRe: The Ridicule Of Muslim Apologetics by goggs(m): 11:28am On Dec 27, 2011
Yes the Lord hates all these and he says it as it is (note that your quotations are mainly from the old testament). This is the view of where we are coming from, adolatry, killings and the like,  In the new testament it was declared that God has offered a way out for mankind through Christ (2 Corin 5:17).

I would advise that you read the whole verse and context within which these quotations were made and you will see that the admonishment is case specific. Never did Jesus tell Christians, kill so and so; strike their necks until Christianity was established etc. He says to love unconditionally, Love your enemies, Pray for those who persecute you (Mathew 5:44) What depth of humility is this! Even when the bombs struck on Christmas day (25-12-2011) - A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY, the parish priest was admonishing his congregation to pray for peace! That is classical Jesus message (peace and goodwill to all men). if it wasn't the message all these years there probably will be no Nigeria today. But humility and long suffering is a hallmark of Christianity, unfortunately many people are getting fed up. Being a Christian is never easy. Ask Iranian, Saudi, Pakistani, Iraqi and Egyptian Christians

GEj IS AN EXTREMELY POOR PUBLIC SPEAKER!!!!!

He seem to be an indecisive man. How in the world would you say the bombing is something we have to live with?!  This man is embarrassing!

If I were him, since the October 1 goof, I would refrain from making off the cuff comments on sensitive national issues and wait for a written speech.

I am afraid his meek demeanor, inappropriate choice of words, and clueless disposition will strengthen the Boko Haram people and severely weaken support for his administration. of course not to talk of the political hawks waiting in the side lines to take advantage of his declining popularity
Christianity EtcRe: Reprisals For Today's Christmas Day Bombings In Nigeria by goggs(m): 11:24pm On Dec 25, 2011
I read somewhere an analysis on the net that the Boko boys know that they cannot fight the Government successfully (no terrorist has ever toppled a government) so their aim is to ignite a sectarian war in Nigeria.

From the opinions I am getting in the streets, one more blast and things will be tough, really tough. One way to save the situation is if Northern Muslim leaders come out strong in the next few days and condemn in strong terms this madness and work with the Government to get to the root of this, I fear for the consequences. This is no Iraq or Pakistan where innocent people will die and everything is normal. Nigerian are fast developing deaf ears to turning the other cheek.

However, having said that, any reaction from Christians will be playing into the hands of these guys. Restraint is key. this is not the time to lose our heads but to hold those who should handle it to account and make sure the victims get justice. Any reprisal action will most likely hurt innocent people.

SO PLEASE, NO REPRISALS. It will serve no use. cry

Judges 21:10-12
10So the assembly sent twelve thousand fighting men with instructions to go to Jabesh Gilead and put to the sword those living there, including the women and children. 11“This is what you are to do,” they said. “Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin.” 12They found among the people living in Jabesh Gilead four hundred young women who had never slept with a man, and they took them to the camp at Shiloh in Canaan.

1 Samuel 6:19
And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: [/b]and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

2 Peter 2:12

John 2:15

Psalms 137:8-9
O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks!

Psalms 139:19-22:
"Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men. For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take (thy name) in vain. Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies."

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Luke 22:36,38
[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one, " The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords."  "That is enough," he replied.

Matthew 10:35
35 For I have come to turn   “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—

Luke 12:50-53
50 But I have a baptsm to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
For the Old testament, it showed the Law as was applied before the coming of Christ - from the days of Adam and Eve to the time of Christ. It showed where the people at that time was coming from. The bible intended to show it that way. With the coming of Christ, the OT was fulfilled and a standard of beheivour and worship was established. Stating how the previous laws and behievours were (stoning to death, animal sacrifices, wars and killings) only makes the Christian aware of the fundamental changes that the coming Christ brought about. Christ demonstrated this so many times (eg john 7:53-8:11). If it were not so, Christians would have been practising the laws of Moses (an eye for an eye, sacrifices etc) but Christ show it was not necessary as some of these laws were age specific. But this not in a way to say that the OT  was irrelevant, No.  (Matt. 5:17).
,
(Galatians 3:23-25 NIV) {23} Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. {24} So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. {25} Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

Luke 19:27
"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
Please when reading the Bible read the whole verse to get a perspective. Please read well about the parable of the Master and his minions from Luke 19: 1-27 and understand the context of the story. Jesus uses parables to put across his messages. these are powerful means of communication. messages delivered like that are seldom forgotten else, pray tell, did Jesus order someone dead? Do Christians kill those who refuse to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Your singling out quotations to make claims aint nice man. I would rather judge a religion by the beheivour of its adherents.

Luke 12:49
"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

One thing I notice you do, LagoShia, is that you select verses without looking at the context within which it was made. I sat on my computer deciding to go through and respond to your write up and I came to the conclusion that its either you delibrated left out the context within which these quotations were taken or lifted the passage from some website eager to publish "revelations" to the gullible public. For the reader just google the chapter quoted in the above right up to read the context and judge for yourselves. eg Read Luke 12 to understand the context of the above.

I will just dwell on the quote below in response to some above

Luke 12:41
41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?  42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?  43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.  44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.  45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;  46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.  48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.  4[b]9 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?[/b]  50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!  51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:  52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.  53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.  54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

What Jesus is saying here is that his coming will bring divisions as those who will want to follow him will be opposed by those who dont. In the early days of Christianity, early converts were orchestrated; parents fighting Children and vice versa. It happens today and much more in the Muslim world where converts to Christianity are killed even by their own parents, brothers and sisters. In the book of Matthew its styled a "sword"; and the older Ethiopic version it renders it, "but a sword that I may divide": the Gospel is the sword of the Spirit, which divides asunder soul and Spirit, and separates a man from his former principles and practices; and sets men apart from one another, even the nearest relations, at the greatest distance; and is, through the sin of man, the occasion of great contention, discord, and division. Christ forsaw the turmoil that Christianity will bring; Mathew 24:9 (Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.) How true - Even on Christmas and in Church Christians are not safe!

Luke 22:36,38
[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one, " The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords."  "That is enough," he replied.
Again please read the entire chapter to gain an insight into the situation.Given how Jesus responds to Peter’s use of the sword (he rebukes him), and given everything Jesus says about loving enemies, doing good to them, turning the other cheek, and so on, it’s clear that, whatever Jesus was up to in telling his followers to buy swords, he clearly didn’t intend for them to use them. How do you reconcile your lifting that passage and Luke 22: 49 (49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?  50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.  51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. ) Jesus had armed men around him but he refused any form of violence.  Immediately after telling them to buy a sword (Lk 22:36) Jesus says, “It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”(vs. 37). To fulfill prophecy, Jesus had to be viewed as a transgressor. He had to at least appear to be a political revolutionary to the Jewish authorities for them to feel justified in arresting him. His cleansing of the temple a few days earlier was probably calculated for the same effect. So, to fulfill the prophecy and to provoke the Jewish authorities, he had to have enough weaponry to justify being viewed as a law breaking revolutionary. This is why, in the next verse, when the disciples say they have two swords, Jesus says “That is enough.” (vs. 38). Obviously, if Jesus ever intended for the disciples to use the swords, that wouldn’t be nearly enough. But it’s enough to fulfill the prophecy by making Jesus look like a transgressor. Please read http://answering-islam.org/Authors/Arlandson/luke_22_36.htm to help you out.

All this selection of verses in isolation to try to prove fallacies will do nothing. One thing is clear, Jesus abhors violence. He said so severally and demonstrated his clear objection to it. He told Christians to expect TO BE THE VICTIMS of violence. In this day and age no Christian  convert is made through force or intimidation neither is and body threatened with death if he/she wants to leave. Also no one prevents any action towards converting a Christian cos the reasons are simple, your understanding and ACCEPTING WILLINGLY the gospel of Christ is key. I wonder if LagoShia can say that from his side.

(Hebrews 12:14 NIV) Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

well if its an IED that is unsafe to keep as evidence, the police will carry out a controlled detonation to dispose it.

its better than for someone to use it or learn from it.

what shocks me is the scale to which terrorists will use Islam to kill, maim and destroy yet Muslim leaders will not condemn such acts.

its as if killing in Gods name is right. if God is powerful why fight kill and destroy in his name?

if he can't do that for himself then why call him God? and even follow him?

kai. this thing tire me

thank God the police has shown the army how to behave. if it were maiduguri the army will shoot on sight upon arriving. the BH guys would have escaped and innocent brave residents who arrested the bad guys would have been sprayed with hot lead. the army has little time for civility, which is the hallmark of modern military.

by behaving as the police and getting the public on the side of the law, BH willbe crushed in no time. I hope the maiduguri JTF are learning.

Indians are resisting multi national owned malls coming into India cos it will wipe off tens of thousands of jobs for shop owners but here in naija we refuse to think ahead we are just clapping for them. if they really want to help Nigeria let 90% of their goods be made in Nigeria Nigeria and let them be listed on the stock exchange. the pictures may look nice the economics of it isn't.

Christianity EtcRe: Islamic Practices In The Bible Unknown To Christians by goggs(m): 9:55am On Dec 17, 2011
may I recommend this site to all http://www.staringattheview..com it will answer many questions going back and forth here. the truth is many of us - Christians and Muslims- simply don't know enough of the scriptures to meaningfully respond to some issues.

also, I read earlier someone referred to that Norwegian murderer as a Christian terrorist. It is not correct. he may be a terrorist but his action doesn't fit that phase for the following simple. reasons (1) he didn't use the Christian faith to justify his action. never in his 1,500 page manifesto of violence did he mention Jesus or quote one verse from the bible. neither did he do that in the course of killing or arrest. he describes himself as a Christian but didn't practice. if he did practice Christianity he would not have killed anyone; he would have prayed about it. (2)not a single figure in Christiandom supported the man; he was roundly condemned and quickly apprehended and brought to trial. (3) the Norwegian society has sat up, taken notice and are beginning to work to prevent a reoccurence. Christianity abhors violence in any form. those saying the guy is a ''Christian terrorists " are saying if a certain john doe is arrested for armed robbery, because he is named john he must be a " Christian armed robber". it doesn't work like that. until he can justify that with Christ's teachings and have concurrence with Christian leaders, he is on his own!
