NYSC / Re: Not All Nigerians Are Bad: My NYSC Experience by goggs(m): 7:24pm On Apr 04, 2012
well this is not an isolated case. in 2009 I forgot my wallet (with a couple of thousands, atms, ID etc) in a long distance taxi to Abuja (karu park) and noticed after it was time to pay the drop to town.

I went back to the park and straight to the local NURTW office. The hausa man (Chairman/if not obviously top official) was straight to the point. All he asked was the origin of the taxi and type/colour. He asked a couple of his men to get to work and lo just then another official came in to report the driver (a yoruba man I think) had already reported a lost wallet to the office. I was asked some proofs and the wallet returned. I was asked to confirm the amount; I didn't care as long as atms, IDs, and a few thousand naira notes stared back at me I was ok. I was so relieved. Even the driver was insisting I count as he walked out.

one striking thing was the chairman was impatient I say my thanks quickly and leave, he had work to do attending to other matters!!!

Its been long I last saw people do things so right and act like its so normal. I was pleased. I went in search of the driver to thank him. He also waved me from afar saying ''no problem, no problem"

As I walked out of the park I pumped my fist in the air and let out a loud "yes!". At that moment I was so proud of my fellow Nigerians! I must have repeated this story 100s of times!
Webmasters / Re: GTBank Website Has Been Hijacked? by goggs(m): 3:30pm On Feb 15, 2012
Yes i can confirm that it was down yesterday.  I tried to execute a transfer and each time I clicked on the internet banking log on it redirects to one funny portal .tk

I backed out after three attempts. I am really scared of Gtbank.com now. I carry out tons of money transactions and now I don't feel safe on the site any more.

I would rather join the queues at the bank or move to UBA internet banking

its interesting, your photos, showing the devotion of Muslims in various places and scenarios.

the photos of open air prayers in the west ie UK, US and other parts of Europe struck me.

would non Muslims in the middle east be allowed to be openly expressive of their religious obligations? the obvious answer to this question dampens the warm feeling effect of your photos.

bamosagie:

The scale of destruction of lives and properties in Kano was enormous and no any other attack is comparable to it. The man hail from Kano, a pure coincidence. The constitutional right of CBN to donate, I don't know. But you definitely can't question the moral right of the CBN to do so. All of you criticizing the gesture are religious bigots. That is the peak of religious intolerance we're talking about. If this donation has been to a state in your region, will all of you be crying the same way you're doing now? These are the people that were defending Erastus and Ibru then, now they just discovered that they're in the same league with Sanusi. Hypocrites.  Point is SLS have no right to donate tax payers money to any state, Moslem or Christian. It is about by professionalism, SLS can donate 100 billion naira of his own money to boko haram if he so wish & it will be nobody's business

My brother be fair now! Which attack is comparable to the one happening to BORNO STATE? or YOBE STATE? haba. How many lives were lost in those two states? Are they less human?

And there is something called ethics. Sanusi is from Kano and he should not have made CBN donate to Kano when there are other states who deserved it more. Just because others are doing it doesn't make it right. He is the Governor of the Central Bank of NIGERIA not Central Bank of Kano
Religion / Re: Nigerian Gay Church Reopens: Alleluia! by goggs(m): 9:50am On Feb 11, 2012
Homosexuality is Condemned in the Bible!

The Bible's condemnation of homosexuality is as clear and plain as the Bible's condemnation of murder, adultery, premarital sex, kidnapping, lying and idolatry. Further, for me to openly condemn homosexuality theologically makes me no more a "gay basher" than I am an "adultery basher", "premarital sex basher", "kidnapper basher" or a "murderer basher". If you disagree, your argument is with God's Bible.

The gay community has two ways of promoting their personal choices of being gay through the religious forum. First, some will claim the Bible actually promotes and condones homosexuality. Second, others try to get the Bible banned from public use by categorizing it as hate literature.

For any to use the Bible to condone rather than condemn gay activity in the theological arena just proves such a one has absolutely no idea what the Bible actually teaches. For anyone to suggest the Bible says gay activity is acceptable to God, is nothing short of willful blindness. So to set the record straight once and for all, here is what the Bible teaches on the subject.

Anyone who has heard of the cities of "Sodom and Gommorah" knows that they were notorious hotbeds of homosexuality. Gen 19:5-8 "and they called to Lot and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.' But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him, and said, 'Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.'" The Greek word in the New Testament for homosexuality is literally "a sodomite". Jock is trying to redefine what the term "sodomite" means. (A term that has unchanged in 5000 years, even today- "sodomy"wink Apart from the fact the city was clearly destroyed by God because of homosexuality in the narrative of Gen 19, even the New Testament clearly states exactly the same thing in Jude 7 "Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example, in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire." Any sinner should always remember that the God who commands us to love our neighbour is the same God who will cast any and all unrepentant sinners into the "eternal fire". Here are more Bible quotes, Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers" Rom 1:26-27 "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."

If the gay community chooses to practice homosexuality in privacy, that is there free choice. But let such persons know for certain that the Christian Bible condemns all such practices and God will judge them unfit for the kingdom of heaven if the continue to practice and openly promote gay sex.

Travel / Re: Ba Plane Lands In Darkness At Abuja Airport by goggs(m): 11:57am On Feb 10, 2012
You guys should cut Naija a slack. Power outages at airports are bad BUT aint new

(i) Power restored at Newark airport after outage disrupts flights - February 7, 2011

Power was restored to parts of Newark Liberty Airport Monday after an outage grounded some flights, affected airport security checkpoints, and stranded passengers on its monorail system.
Twitter-posting travelers reported that cheers were heard as power returned [UP NEPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]   grin in at least one terminal after being out for over an hour.
Witnesses told WNYW-TV that the power outage occurred around 2:25pm ET, affecting all three of the New York City-area airport's passenger terminals.
The airport's air traffic control tower operated on backup and security checkpoints were out of service except at the C1 and C2 gate areas during the outage.Several passengers took to Twitter to report that their planes were sitting on the runway and not moving. Others posted messages that no security screenings were taking place because of the outage.
The airport's AirTrain shuttle system was brought to a halt, and some cars were stranded between terminals. Crews were waiting to make sure there was no danger from live power before evacuating the trains.
The outage, which was caused by equipment failure at a Public Service Electric & Gas Company switching station in Elizabeth, N.J., affected nearly 20,000 customers.

(ii) Generator fails during power outage at airport, prevents landing  in McKinleyville, USA 2010

A power outage in McKinleyville darkened the Arcata/Eureka Airport terminal Wednesday night and turned an inbound flight back to Redding.
Humboldt County Airports Manager Jacqueline Hulsey said that she got a call at about 11 p.m. saying that the terminal's lights were out.
The few people in the terminal were evacuated, she said.
The airport facility has three emergency generators, but one blew its engine block heater, Hulsey said. That generator also handles the system that allows an inbound pilot to illuminate the runway lights, which the crew had to then do from the ground, she said. The glitch caused one Horizon flight from Redding to turn around, which meant the plane was not available in Arcata/Eureka for its outbound 6 a.m. flight, Hulsey said.
The problem with the generator was fixed within about three hours, she said.A power outage in McKinleyville darkened the Arcata/Eureka Airport terminal Wednesday night and turned an inbound flight back to Redding.

(iii) Cleveland (USA) airport power outage grounds flights - 2010

A power outage at Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport on Sunday led U.S. airlines including Continental Airlines Inc, Delta Air Lines Inc and Southwest Airlines to temporarily suspend operations there.

Continental said in a statement that it was suspending operations until 6 p.m. EST. A spokeswoman from Delta said it was suspending operations until 3 PM, at which time it would reevaluate conditions at the airport. A spokeswoman for Southwest said that airline did not yet have a definite time for resuming its operations.

(iv) Reagan National Airport Power Outage: Electricity Failure Grounds Flights, Causes Delays -USA

A Reagan National Airport power outage is causing delays and has flights grounded for the time being today, Jan. 4, 2010.

Power reportedly went out shortly after noon on Monday, WTOP reports. All flights have been temporarily suspended, but some planes are able to land due to a backup power supply at the air control tower.

Security checks are also being halted due to the power outage.

Dominion Power is working to address the problem.

This is not the first time Reagan National Airport has been affected by a power outage. A similar incident took place in April 2000.

Let's speak truthfully to ourselves. Ribadu was the presidential candidate for action congress, how many action congress states voted Ribadu? Why deceive ourselves; Ribadu cannot be deceived either.  Ribadu was first dumped by action congress at the polls and so he is a free man. Let him be.

You took the words outta my mouth! It was Ribadu that was dumped by ACN. Afterall this is an oppotunity to regain his credentials by being honest, OPEN and expose the rot in the system. Nigerians will be grateful for that. We need people who have excelled and can walk the talk, not paper tigers. this is the chance for Ribadu to rebuild PUBLIC TRUST IN HIM.

Reference:

This is not politics. Afterall he rose to popularity under a past government led by the PDP. In that government he was not a politician but a professional but it was the ACN that made political capital out of his professionalism so why the query now. The government is just trying to revert him back to his prfessionalism, put the square peg back into the square hole. Let's be honest does Ribadu look like a politician in any way shape or form. I personally am not too convinced about the man neither do I credit him entirely with any little success the EFCC garnered. I always feel more for the institutions surrounding individuals and not just the operatives hence my serious doubts about the level of success he will enjoy. However if the ACN feels they own the man can they lend him to the country and kindly take him back in peace after his tenure is over.

I concur with most of what you are saying. However may I say that institutions don't develop themselves. They are built by dedicated people first before they become strong enough to be what they are supposed to be. The strength of any institution is the result of the commitment of its founding fathers - those who lay the ground rules impartially and set the tone for how the institution will be run

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why You Don't Hear Southern Nigerian Muslims Responses On National Issues. by goggs(m): 12:45am On Feb 07, 2012
BetaThings:

It takes two people to come together for peace
When President Jonathan constituted the Presidential Advisory Council, both the Chairman and his deputy were  Christians
Muslims did not accuse of President Jonathan of trying to christianise the country

Stop being trivial. The Advisory Council were just it, advisory. Not a statutory body, but just to advice on specifics. When Yardua formed his kitchen cabinet of Abba Ruma, Tanimu Yakubu, Shamsudeen Usman and Adamu Aleiro did anybody accuse Yaradua of an Islamisation agenda?

The former CBN governor (Professor Soludo, a christian) started an Islamic banking project and filed an application with the Islamic Financial Services Board for Nigeria to join the board. This did not draw any criticism from christians
Yet when a Muslim succeeded him as governor of CBN and continued some of the projects (one of such projects was the decision by Prof Soludo to fix the number of years that a bank MD can spend which decision he did not implement though), christian started to say that Muslims wanted to islamise the country

Initially CAN was against the idea of Islamic banking BECAUSE it would involve the CBN setting up RELIGIOUS BASED organs within it (CBN) to REGULATE the system. CAN was against the use of STATE institutions to foster a religion over others. Of course later it modified its stand as CBN also modified its Islamic Banking Guideline. This was to effect that it had no problem with it  as long as the CBN does not use government money to promote  a religion based system. Which is in essence what our laws should be about. There should be no state sponsorship of religious activities else someone is bound to be discriminated against eg sango worshipers, humanist, aeithist etc who are bonafide citizens with every right as you and I. What ought to be was CBN issuing guidelines and letting business/ religious leaders take the cue. Typical example is the insurance industry, the Stock market and even banks who were offering Islamic favoured/based products evolved and marketed by companies themselves  (not regulators - who were at the time manned by Muslims except CBN). IBTC for example kept spamming my email with their ethical fund products for which I was tempted but for the stock crash. Bank PHB was offering interest free banking. did Christians complain? of course no. Why Sanusi choose to makes his like this, I can only guess.

But of course many did not want to listen to what CAN had to say and helped themselves with their own understanding of what the body meant. Of course there were some pastors and Christian leaders who made matters worst by granting interviews and stating their own positions which were at variance with CAN's

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/07/we-don%E2%80%99t-want-islamic-banking/

The frequent alarms raised by the current CAN president has tended to increase distrust between muslims and christians

What differentiates this CAN president from others is that this man will not shy away from controversy and will say his mind publicly. The issues he is raising are not new; they have been with us for decades. Past CAN leaders are more subtle; writing letters, leading delegations etc. What it has achieved is debatable but this man prefers to lay his cards openly. Whether this change in strategy will work, we shall see. All I can say is that many  feel its their country too and must not shy from challenging the status quo and discussing matters openly.

When the National Security Adviser, a christian appointed by  president Jonathan came to Channelstv, he said the following about Jos, capital of Plateau State with a Christian governor
(1) When you are governor, you must have the interest of EVERYBODY at heart
(2) it is not correct for the governor to say the security agencies did not listen to him; rather it the fact is that the governor might not have listened to security advice
(3) It is not right to say that people should not go to the praying ground

Governor Jang is sure a lousy governor that has no business being there. But I disagree with the NSA for the simple reason that in the North, once there is hint of trouble, the authorities have in the past taken the steps to bar the use of certain worship grounds, close routes or even CANCEL religious events. It is a known fact that several religious even Christian events have been cancelled as a result of security reports in the past. There has been no serious reaction except for the usual grumbling of course. But only God knows how many lives have been saved if people choose to stay off. If plateau state advice had been heeded perhaps the hundreds of lives that were lost that day could have been saved, so what is the NSA talking about?
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why You Don't Hear Southern Nigerian Muslims Responses On National Issues. by goggs(m): 12:04am On Feb 07, 2012
SOUTH WESTERNERS beware of the schism that is happening in the North and destroying its economy. The South West is noted and acclaimed for religious tolerance. That is why almost ALL the south western Governors are Muslims and no one cares; the citizens hold them to account based on THEIR performance not whether Fashola or Arabgesola prays 5 times a day or says Mass. This allows the SW political leadership to concentrate on governance without dangerous distractions thus making them the most politically cohesive/focused block in the country.

If the SW imports this northern intolerance, the genie will leave the bottle and before you know Christians will start claiming marginalisation in politics (politics and religion are a dangerous mix) as some arealready making mundane claims now and the result is that the regions stability will go south.

If south western Muslims are complaining about marginalisation in PRIVATE businesses, there are limited options really except to continue to highlight what binds them as a people so as to correct the problem.  But there are equally big Muslim business moguls/companies in the southwest who are doing their thing and can correct perceived lopsidedness if any. Moreso the SW is sufficiently competitive enough to punish companies that emphasize on anything other than performance and qualifications in recruiting workers. I must say I work for southwesterners and never saw religious prejudice at play. maybe I am not looking hard enough to see/imagine motives behind their  business decisions.

As per press coverage, unless its hardcore news, everybody knows that a lot of coverages in the media are paid for. Many editors may not think it important to devote space to news about responses from the southwest for an event they largely see as a northern problem. Honestly, between news of a statement on Boko Haram from say an Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) member  and Lateef Adegbite, which do you think is more news worthy? I would rather read about the major ''actors" so to speak.

Moreso, a lot of the issues going back and forth about boko haram et al are largely  paid press releases. I expect the learned Doctor to do the same if he feels that their press releases are not carried well enough. Also, I find it hard to believe that there is an official gang up against releases from the Muslim community of the SW. But if it is so, its enough impetus to make one of their own launch a national paper of their own. The SW Muslim community has more than enough men with brains and deep pockets to do so.

If I may ask isn't the Nation Newspaper ( a National Newspaper) owned by Bola Tinubu, a Muslim?

I agree that corruption needs to be fought and fought seriously,  but his attack of NOI smacks of sour grapes. He that is a professor of virology, what are his legacies in the petroleum industry?

Her performance in her first coming is commendable unless TDW was not in this country. She was instrumental in debt forgiveness, public procurement reform, pension reform (together with health insurance two of the most important workers reforms in the history of this country), debt management, health insurance, increased transparency in federation account allocations, budget reforms (for the first time budgeting across MDAs was harmonised), monetisation (that Yaradua reversed), close to $80 billion excess crude and reserves (that Yaradua sheepishly allowed the state governors to squander part), radical reduction of Federal Government staff (again reversed), an achievable economic plan NEEDS (that was thrown out by Yaradua in favour of vision 2020). Unless one has a short memory or wants to play to the gallery, Okonjo did well in her first coming. Unfortunately, she is not fortunate to have a boss that has the tenacity and strength of character as OBJ. One who has the guts to fight corruption and fire the big fat leeches in the petroleum sector.

Tam David West's analysis of the fuel subsidy is off the mark in several of its assumptions and this has been exposed and debated well enough.

The economic sense of subsidy removal is spot on (even Labour agrees) but corruption and unbridled government spending (e.g. N1 billion for feeding in Aso rock) is what is making Nigerians resist it.

Don't be surprise when there is a consensus on ground you would see PDP polling 380,000+ to the consensus vote of ACN/CPC of 367969 still given PDP the edge. It is a no win situation, if the PDP is determined to win the election they would win it, come what may,  if you like combine 100 parties votes together they would still edge it scientifically.

The game plan of the PDP is not to lose any of their stronghold in the north and the same time keep hold of their stronghold in the South-South Zone, that would give them serious leverage to bargain with.

how did Nassarawa people do it? we belittle ourselves and our potential to induce change

for the ACN candidate in adamawa the ACN national body left him to the wolves. that he garnered that much vote is testament to his potential to have won if he had the necessary support. see how OBJ, atiku and other PDP big wigs stormed Yola. OBJ is still respected in the north. Where was tinubu, akande and even fashola? fashola is looked upon as a model governor and would have helped show adamawa people what to expect of an ACN government.

of course there will no post election analysis by ACN and a real and genuine process of correcting the errors that led to the losses. it will the usual excuses - scientific rigging.

There is NO ONE on this site that deliberately picks verses in isolation and present them in his/her argument against the Bible as you have. Whats more, YOU are the king of cut and paste from Islamic websites and you dare accuse me of the same? It makes you sound childish please.  grin

Of course if the interpretation of the text doesnt suit you, you will say its the Sunnis that made up the verse! Dont drag me into your civil war!

the muslims especially fight back when they have come to realize that the attempt to hold islam responsible for the actions of criminals among muslims is a christian missionary tactic to "win souls".you guys do that on this forum by posting different pictures and news about what crime this or that muslim man has done.so the blame really lies on those who are trying to exploit the situation.and those exploiting the situation are the christian missionaries.

Why are Muslims not criticising the bad that takes place in the name of their religion? They stay quiet and pounce on anyone who criticises their stance. You of all people cite examples of the bad in Christiandom to advance your arguements against Christianity, why cry foul when someone else does that to you? And must they be missionaries?

respect does not necessary mean you have accepted the beliefs of others.respect is what makes peace reign.but people like "frosbel" dont know that.they engage in using bad expressions and examples thinking others can't do the same to christianity.far from it!dont take the silence of others as submission.

You did say you hate Christians like $hit. So much for respect. You can't respect $hit.

we guys are not doing enough?is there not government?when arm-robbers wreck havoc do you criticize the role of parenthood?

the situation is worse like i said earlier when the missionaries try to exploit the situation to label the other religion and make it llook as if it is the religion that is asking its followers to do certain actions, which in reality the majority of muslims do not agree with.

personally,i only support or rather sympathize with muslim groups that fight occupation of their lands particularly israeli occupation.they have the right to defend themselves and reclaim their stolen lands that zionism took from them.aside from that, any muslim group or anyone who kill people outside the lands occupied or for the saking of their aim to "convert the world" and "fighting the infidel",that is not islam.Islam tells us there is no compulsion in religion and we are only to defend ourselves.so why would the christian missionary try to paint islam with the actions of a minority?why?isn't that promotion of american and israeli propaganda? israel in particular cherishes the idea of having around the world perverted muslims causing havoc.they use that to portray themselves as the victims.when muslims cause unjustified problem in nigeria like boko haram and muslims are fighting israel, the "jewish state",definitely the ignorant man on the street who is christian would say:"those muslims again"!!!so you can see that there is big element of propaganda.the christian who is sincere about devoting his life to God should not try to make Islam and the majority of Muslims his enemy.

There millions of Christians who have no qualms with Muslims. In fact the Bible is clear on what we should do in the circumstances (love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you). The blame game will take you nowhere.

You guys will be helping yourselves more if you cut OFF the extremist from yourselves. Unless you do that, I am afraid many will, unfortunately, continue to paint all of you with the same brush.

Your work is cut out. Better start early.

we guys are not doing enough?is there not government?when arm-robbers wreck havoc do you criticize the role of parenthood?

Of course! havent you heard of "bringing back family values", and how parents are urged to "know where their kids are" by 9 (apologies to Frank Olize), and how we blame parents for being lax on their wayward Children?

Thats my problem with you sometimes, you post without thinking. angry

I expose the doctrines they teach which are dangerous to the soul of Man and especially young Christians.

BTW , God does not measure success by Quantity but Quality.

What is the purpose of having millions of lukewarm members , God will rather settle for a lesser amount of dedicated , loyal and holy Christians.

I agree with you oh 100%. some MOG are NOT leading young Christians through the right path. If we feel strongly about something we SHOULD speak up. Fortunately freedom of speech is guaranteed in the Bible.

some doctrines are shocking.

LagosShia:

frosbel,

you of all people say that there is a difference between arguing ideas and religion and hating the adherents.i dont think christians are bad people or should be hated.i love my christian friends.i have nothing against.i dont see the falsehood of christianity that they are made to believe or they believe in as their fault.also,if they have faults i dont see the fault as that of christianity even though christinaity has its faults.

the problem with you is that you claim to love muslims.but when these same people you claim to love commit bad actions which are even rejected by other muslims and contrary to what islam teaches, you hold islam responsible and not the individuals.you know well what you are doing.you are bias and using the ill of the followers to tarnish the reputation of anothe religion which you see as threat to christianity because of its popularity.

moreover, your actions on nairaland dont speak well if we are to hold christians responsible for them or even christianity.

i want you to know that discussing ideas is not an attack against people.and the actions of people are not necessarily the teaching of their religion.muslims could be very bad people, but that does not make islam wrong.i want you to love islam and hate muslims.in that way,we can think and discuss ideas and know what is good and criticize people for their actions.otherwise, saying you love muslims and hate islam is simply encouraging bad actions just to get your way of criticizing another religion.

I could have sworn LagosShia could ever write a rational and thought provoking post like this!  Ever since I came across your posts I wonder sometimes how you will look like. moreso when you made your infamous I hate -----like  $hit post! it was because of you I am constantly on the religion thread as against my passion which is really benign.

I agree with you on several points. one thing is clear - there are bad Christians as well as Muslims who do terrible things in the name of religion. Unfortunately recent events have made people directed their frustrations on Islam and perceived scriptural support for what is going on. I also believe that a lot of Muslims are fighting the criticism by equally attacking what they perceive as what is equally wrong with Christianity. This is not helped by the ongoing friction between the two religions at even the best of times.

Truth is I love my Muslim friends even if I don't agree/believe with a word of the Quran so also them. To resolve this war of words is simple in concept but difficult to implement. I do think the first way to go about it is to show respect to the religions for the sake of the adherents we claim to like ( can we truly say we like them and disrespect their religion) and to seek to learn more like tbaba 1234's thread. Of course I am certain that no one will convince me of embracing Islam based on what I know but I am sure I will appreciate it more.

for Muslims, I really think bad Muslims are tarnishing your image and you guys are NOT doing enough to isolate them. a lot of atrocities are being committed in the name of God which you guys ought to issue fatwas, disclaimers and so on. The silence is taken as tactile approval. its also important that you guys perish the thought that anything American or western is Christian. Its just not right. things over there are done for practical/political reason of survival of the state and furtherance of its interest and not in Jesus' Name.

LagosShia:

brother, that is not even the case here.you have verses in the bible where God is saying :"you will eat the flesh of your sons and daughter" (the verse in Jeremiah).see also:

Ezekiel 5:10
Therefore in your midst fathers will eat their children, and children will eat their fathers. I will inflict punishment on you and will scatter all your survivors to the winds.

regardless,if this was meant to be punishment,a few instances show that the bible god made people to do it to make them suffer.

again reading the entire chapter will give an insight. since you are unlikely let me tell others who will want to know
that this statement is to portray the extent of suffering these people will undergo as punishment.

the next question is did they actually EAT each other?of course not. I will want to see the verse if its so.

its like saying to someone "you will be so punished you wish you were not born". The statement is to convey the severity of the punishment. it doesn't mean the person receiving the punishment must actually wish that on him or herself before the punishment will be deemed served.

its so simple really.

tbaba1234:

True, but some christian brothers are notorious in doing that to the Quran,

@tbaba
Then quote the entire verse or verses so everyone can see. at least he or she may not admit it but they would have learnt and so also others.

you have done that on your thread [questions for Muslims] with very good results. You know what I mean.

there is a difference between "cannibalism in the Bible" and Cannibalism sanctioned in Bible. Cannibalism is NOT sanctioned in the Bible.

Being a Book of Historical accounts it records actions of men of even the worst kinds. It also gives an insight why the action took place, punishments for them or how God intervened.

An Islamic perspective cannot be used to understand the Bible. The parts cannot be taken in isolation unless one is being mischievous.
