PoliticsRe: Fashola, This Is Commendable by GoldCircle: 8:01pm On Apr 23, 2009
Meanwhile some bad belle Nigerians don't see anything good in this man, neither has he done anything good in Lagos! "the Lagos camera project is a waste of taxpayer's money", "the light rail project is doomed to fail", 'the Badagry tourist resort" is unachievable" !

Time again will only tell!

Kudos BRF!! Ride on. . .
It is Nigerians who have been away from Nigeria for too long that still wake up and write bull fart against the country Nigeria - to get a first hand and true experience of Nigeria, book a holiday there for just two weeks and come back here to write, of course if you rely on reports in sahara reports and elendu whatever it is, or spend half your day on NairaLand reading from the lies of Crackles, Kobojunkie, tbo and many others who havent been in Nigeria for ages, you will definitely want to beleive them and join them in their massive crusade to run down a country they have left for ages.

First hand experience is ok - this is what the poster is talking about, he isint saying dont criticise the country, he is simply saying, why is it that those who are outside shout the worst when it comes to Nigeria, they seem to be the only ones who knows when or what should be done or not and they seem to be the only ones who sees the poverty and sufferness in a country the dont live in.
Thanks for the info Tosh!

As unsubstantiated as your post may sound,  I think am in agreement with what you re saying. some diasporas travelled out of Nigeria out of bitterness due to  situation at home, it always baffles me that some of them responded to anything Nigeria out of bitterness, they somehow find it difficult to forgive the country that has made them a second class citizens in a foreign land.

my take on this is that I think they sometimes exerggerate the negative sides of Nigeria, as lucabrasi observed, the sources of information may have contributed to the negative tones of their comments on this forum.

again, my contention with Nigerians diasporas is this feeling that they were not part of the problem confronting Nigeria today, yet some of us that travel ocassionally are being humuliated every now and then, just because some of this diasporas have misrepresented us in their despiration to survive.

I sometimes find them not to be in touch with reality of the situation in Nigeria, the seriousness with which they take our newspaper headlines suggest that they are out of touch with Nigeria's situation, then I guess they are mistaken Nigerian press with European or American press, negative headlines don't really bother us here in Nigeria, because soonest you will sone hear a contrary news contradicting the former report. Sensational reporting is here with us, and most of the major dailies are owned by politicians who find it convenient to demonise their political adversaries at will

they come on this forum and shout blue murder whenever there is a negative news about Nigeria as if they were not part of the problem before finding their way abroad, some diasporas engages in activities that contineu to tarnish the image of Nigeria, yet they are quick to come on Nairaland to point accusing fingers.

@lucabrasi

I agree with your points above, those points may have contributed to their view and perception about Nigeria. I suggest they ask questions here on this forum instead of claiming to know all about Nigeria from their hideout in America, Europe and Asia. It is not everything that is going on in Nigeria that is reported on nairaland and I think the information gap is contributing to the uninformed post been sent here by most diasporas.
Need I say more?? You 've said it all bro!

Lucabrasi, you are a realist to the core! I respect your position!
PoliticsRe: Do These Diasporic Nigerians Love D Country More Or Just Out To Rubbish It More? by GoldCircle: 7:10am On Apr 23, 2009
what manner of child rises up early in the morning and runs to the village square to shout at the top of his voice the details of the quarrel his parents had the previous night?? huh huh

Please go through my post once more and you'll discover I never implied that we (Nigerians) should not criticize the system! All I am saying is that  "make we talk small small 'cos nobody holy pass"!This isn't about rosy pictures at all! There's a really big difference between correcting to make a change (call it constructive criticism if you like) and criticizing to bring down & discredit the system (like we see in the western media very often)! Will a mother bring out a dagger and stab her child because he stole a piece of meat from the neighbor's pot??

Hope U got my point?

cheers,

Oh I see! this war between Nigerians in Naija and those in the diaspora is still on! Anyway, to be truthful, I see some sense in what the poster has said ( I hope I don't get crucified for this). But c'mon, have a peek through almost all the hot debates here in the politics section and indeed the whole of Nairaland and you'll see some element of truth in what Mr. Poster has said! Why this is so is what I cannot exactly say. But I sure do sense a lot of negativity when they write! Many of us in naija here do travel to these same places (even Malaysia) and yet we dey take am eazy when time reach to criticize naija ('cos we know that we are part of this system & wouldn't want to wash 'all of' our dirty linen in public). these same criticisms come back to hunt us one way or the other whether a 'Naijarian' or a 'diasporan'!

Bottomline: Nigeria is ours to build, we only got 1 country! let's build it!

tallrock:
Bros, Do you know that it's better to live illegally in another man's land than to live illegal in your own land? Why would a white man enjoy precedence over you in your own land? I am sure that even if you had 1st class results you will never beat a common Arab man to get a job in your Nigeria. It's better to go there, wash toilets and you will be respected; get your salary at the end of the month instead of coming back to Nigeria. Let's not pretend ok? things are not going the way it's supposed to be in nigeria otherwise Nigerians wont be taking shits from anybody in the world because they are blessed.
This indeed portrays the level of moral decadence that pervades today's Nigeria especially with the youth! I mean how can some1 make such comments! I can smell low self esteem here (no harm intended), but please nobody will bring you down if don't put your self down for them to trample on! I am a first class citizen in Naija & I am don't foresee any1 from my immediate generation washing toilets for anybody overseas!
FashionWorld's Most Expensive Suit By Alexander Amosu by GoldCircle(op): 8:19pm On Apr 22, 2009
A Nigerian is in the world news again but this time not for something despicable, But rather for designing the most expensive suit ever sold. It's our very own Alexander Amosu! Remember him? Yeah, the guy with the cockney accent in the Dragon's Den series. A program that was sponsored by UBA and aired sometime last year on many TV stations across Nigeria. I remember he was the same guy that was involved in the pimping of cell phones in the U.K sometime back with some of his phones even selling as much as 10,000 pounds. I watched his interview with Richard Quest of CNN and I was indeed very impressed. I heard someone who wants to remain anonymous has purchased it for a whooping 100k!

Kudos Amosu & keep the flag flying!!!!

AutosRe: Price Of Alloy Wheels by GoldCircle: 5:37pm On Apr 07, 2009
Depends on your location actually! I helped my sister change hers in February 2009 and it was more of a trade by barter thing! the guys at Ladipo took her old wheels (not alloy) and gave us sharp, neat & studdded alloy for 30k. the range is usually between 25k to 35k! Also depends on the ride!

Whatever you do, please do not buy those 'china' alloy wheels o! they are death traps! I have personally witnessed an accident that was caused by a broken one. You can't mistake them! They are cheaper and usually have black trimmings!

cheers,

HealthRe: I Have Mouth Odour - Pls Help by GoldCircle: 2:04pm On Mar 25, 2009
This isn't really a joking matter! I guess you've got an acute case of halitosis and my sincere advice is for you to see your dentist! In the interim, I'll recommend that you ensure you brush your teeth before you sleep every night. (when last did you change your tooth brush?) please do so too and get a dental floss. Ensure you floss every other night too apart from brushing.
Also, minty gums & mouth washes can help alot during the day. In all, this is the time to pay better attention to your teeth and mouth. you've still got to see a dentist.
