Kai.. iheanacho and Ighalo’s defenders are very much alike.
Off the ball movement is just a creative invention to cause diversion.

Simple point. Overall Contribution was not poor because of the other things he brought. How that turns to a good performance baffles me. I repeat. Nacho was my pick for substitution but Ighalo was not the one to come in. Ebuehi was to come in, Moses pushes front to help with the pace.

Na wa.
What other things did he bring? Combination? Hold up play? Ariel dominance? Shots on target? Chance created?
What are the other things he brought?

When you head the ball, the ball still bounces. No debate. It was a clear accident.

I hope the accusers can chill. Maybe FIFA is paying me. No, Mikel, No Osaze, oh I forgot Keshi. Maybe it is Ndidi. Maybe Amunike.
The ball didn't bounce off Rojo's head. He actually headed the ball, totally different scenario.
He had all the time to head the ball away but instead headed it straight to his arm.

Dont you find it a bit insulting to hear someone say Kelechi was good last night? The overindulgence of these type of talks made the younger posters loose guard of their expectations before the world cup.

One hell of a myopic point. If Nacho is paying me, will I be crying he was the one to go off? It is just that there are people like you when you can not make a point you flaunt baseless accusation.

I hope you are satisfied with your big striker.
Even with the miss, Ighalo was better rated than Kelechi in not less than 5 different websites, both foreign and local.
His physical presence turned the game when he came on. As a matter of fact, part of the reason you got an equalizer was due to his influence.

The fact that Kelechi was rated the poorest player for Ngr is a damning verdict on all your talks about his runs up and down chasing defenders.
Look, I will be very blunt, with the rate that guy is going, he could end up playing lower league football at the expiration of his contract with Leicester.

TheGoodJoe:
You are really not explaining anything. What is Nacho is not fit to play. That is a joke.

I told you, take your time and watch his off the ball performance, he was good. On the ball, it was difficult for Nacho due to the pace of the Argentines. If Moses and Musa who I rate as our best when it comes to moving the ball with pace found it difficult. Musa later had freedom when we scored and the Argentines were in search of the goal, if not the whole team found it difficult keeping the ball.

That is down to the brilliant way Sampaoli had conditioned their team to play unlike our team groomed in a conservative manner.

My point is so simple. Nacho can not be categorised as poor in that game if you look at the amount of work he put in to battle the Argentines from having comfort. Not exonerating him but demanding balanced analysis.
This write up is one hell of a poor excuse for the rubbish kelechi played. Very weak defense.
I find it odd you have never seen iheanacho play badly either for club or country.
If the guy is not paying you to do this online PR then you should stop.
Your image is at stake here.

It is very clear you are not abrest with laws governing the game. Someone posted screenshot of the law, please read it in full.
By the way, what was the difference between this incident and that of Portugal? Do you think the Iranian deliberately handled the ball?

Nigeria stars claim referee robbed them of World Cup last 16 spot as 'big country bias' sees Lionel Messi and Argentina through

SIMON JOHNSON in St Petersburg

Victor Moses has accused referee Cuneyt Cakir and VAR of robbing Nigeria of a place in the last 16 at the World Cup.

Nigeria lost 2-1 to Argentina on Tuesday as they were eliminted at the group stage by Marcos Rojo's late winner.

But Moses was left furious after Gernot Rohr's side didn’t get a second penalty when Rojo headed the ball against his own arm in the area.

The game was tied 1-1 at the time, but after Cakir reviewed the incident as part of the VAR process, the Turkish match official decided not to award the spot-kick.

Captain Mikel John Obi appeared to suggest afterwards that Cakir didn’t give it because Argentina are one of the more fancied teams in the competition and Moses was in agreement.

When asked by Standard Sport if he felt Nigeria missed out because they’re not as big a team as Argentina, he replied: “Yes. Obviously It was (Lionel) Messi’s day! If you look at it again, we all thought it was a penalty.

“He (Cakir) went to have a look at it again just to confirm it and he came back saying it was not a penalty. But if you look at the replay, it was totally a penalty.

“To have VAR you have to get decisions right and if you’re not getting things right, there is no point having it. Then there is also the playing and stopping the game again for two or three minutes, it’s just got to be right.

“It was definitely a penalty. I think the same decision was given in the Iran vs Portugal game. It was totally the same situation. The referee should have given it.”

When it was put to him that another sign of favouritism came the night before when Cristiano Ronaldo only received a yellow card following a VAR review despite being seen to elbow Iran’s Morteza Pouraliganji, he added: “To me it is kind of getting out of hand. They need to get it right."

Mikel was seen remonstrating with Cakir on the pitch soon after the decision not to penalise Rojo and following the match, he also questioned how VAR is being used.

The former Chelsea midfielder said: “For big countries it goes their way, small countries? I don’t want to comment about it. You can come to your own opinion yourself - that’s all I can say about it.

“I think the most obvious one was the second penalty - I don’t understand how that is not a penalty. I asked the referee ‘did it touch the hand?’ and he said ‘yes’.

“I said ‘why don’t you give the penalty?’ and he said he ‘doesn’t know’. I’m like ‘You don’t know? But you’re the referee, you need to give the penalty’.

“This is a game we should win, we could have scored another penalty, but this is what happens with VAR.”

Argentina took the lead through Messi, but struggled after Moses equalised from the spot in the 51st minute.

The Chelsea right-wing-back does not think Argentina are good enough to win the competition.

France are their next opponents and Moses said: “They’re a good team but it’s not like they beat us 4-0 or 5-0. They will find it hard. It is not going to be easy who they play next. They’re (France) going to be strong.”

Barcelona and Argentina defender Javier Mascherano though feels everyone in the camp has been given a much needed dramatic lift by the victory.

It is believed a rift had grown between some of the players and coach Jorge Sampaoli after they’d picked up just one point from their opening two matches.

Mascherano said: “We did not start the World Cup in the best way, that is clear. We got into a mess, but against Nigeria we were able to clean up the mess a bit. We will see how it continues (against France) on Saturday in Kazan.

"The main thing was to go through. We would have liked to go through first in the group but it was not to be and now we have to face what is coming.

"France are a great team, one of the favourites to win the World Cup. We are not favourites, we are here to fight and to see if it works for us. Hopefully it will be enough.

"Obviously after our failures before there are still a lot of things to put right, but fighting to the end is what earned us the reward. We never backed down.

World Cup Matchday Preview, Wednesday June 27
“Many times this team could have fallen into frustration but against Nigeria we were not frustrated, we fought back and it is a joy that we have been able to take that step forward mentally.”

Meanwhile, Moses admitted immediately after the game he had no idea when Chelsea want him to report back for pre-season training.

Those not involved in the World Cup are due to start preparing for the next campaign on July 9, but obviously those participating in Russia will be given extended time off - the length of which depends on how far their side progresses.

There is a lot of uncertainty at Stamford Bridge right now with the club set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new coach, but they have yet to dismiss Antonio Conte.

When asked by Standard Sport when he would start training with Chelsea again, he replied: “I don’t know yet to be honest. I might get a call later on tonight and will find out how long I’ve got off.” And pressed on who will tell him, he added: “I don’t know.”

If truly the referee said this, then it is a shame. The man is not fit to officiate at this level. If FIFA has any shred of integrity, he should be sent home and made to refund every allowance due to him.
The players should have walked out of the pitch the minute he admitted it was a hand ball and doesn't know why it was a pen.

Iheanacho that killed off a brilliant attacking move with his cluelessness. Dude cannot dribble even a duck. He was lost and totally off in the game. I saw none of the mythical pressing bla bla bla your brother often hypes Iheanacho on. What is irritating is not Iheanacho having a bad game, it is those who spin it with their accustomed bias.
The guy is a nothing player as far as I'm concerned. He reached his platue in 2013. You should see the rousing cheers and applause that greeted his substitution where I watched the game in a sit out.

Rojo did not intentionally nod the ball to his hand. No way it is a penalty. We had the same scenario with Ebuehi in the Iceland game where he accidentally flicked the ball to his arm. No way a penalty. The referee got it right.
The ball hit Rojo's arm from his own header. That's a clear pen everyday of the week. Rojo was clumsy to have made such an error. I've seen such decisions given by Howard Webb and even at the last European championship. If Ekong or Balogun made same error do you think they would have been spared?

It was obvious Idowu had two players on him and there was a lot of space in his area. Argentina saw it and used that side to punish us.

He should have brought in Joel Obi to cover those areas but the coach just spoil market.

I am not happy at all.
He should have subbed Musa for Ebuehi since Musa spent alot of energy attacking the Argentine full back.
He was totally gassed out so couldn't help Idowu in the final 10 mins. Rohr wasn't smart at all.
Maybe the occasion got to him.

I am not one who likes complaining about referees but I think the ref got the penalty call wrong. They say football is a game of who makes the less mistakes. Rojo had no reason to head the ball to his own arm. 100% mistake on Rojo's part, he had all the time in the world to adjust his body towards the ball and hit it properly but he didn't and to think that he should be red carded in the first half for high boot on Iheanacho... This same guy went on and scored the winner.

Okay just an example. Goalkeeper wants to hand the ball in his own box but he doesn’t judge it properly so touches it with his hands outside the box. It’s a sure yellow and a possible red card. How is a defender playing with his hand in the box, entirely up to him and no one else, if he does so or not, allowed to be clumsy and judge the ball wrong or be clumsy and just bad at football by directing it to his own hand, and get away with it?

Exactly. Pavon changed the game for Argentina. Rohr has himself to blame for not reacting to that substitution.

It would have been a different story Had Ighalo taken a straight shot? He must have bend it at an angle below 25 degree to have missed that goal.
I have rewatched the Ighalo miss thanks to the gifs and my keen observation is that the chance was a 50/50 chance which would have been converted by a very confident striker. A highly motivated, pumped up Musa may have scored that goal.
Ighalo should have attempted to bring the ball to his left and finished with a curler. But instead, took the easy option of shooting the ball and hoping it doesn't deflect off target by the defender.
Strikers are trained to be as composed as snippers but without confidence, you'd never hit the target.
