Not gonna happen, it's just like saying Defoe will lead the lines ahead of Harry Kane in Russia.

I accept your earlier assertion that Gabriel is chosen ahead of Firmino because he is not high profile enough. But Firmino is not your classic Brazilian no9 plus he is older than Jesus, all this things work against him.
Firmino is just 25 yrs old. He is no Metusela. The Defoe comparism is way off the mark.

He will be 26 next year. That is the perfect age to lead a charge at the world cup.

TheGoodJoe:
The article also pointed about the mobility and link up play of Firmino. That does not need debate. The question is, is Firmino more fluid and does he link up better than Gabriel Jesus. I disagree.
You can't be mobile and good at link up play without being fluid. Firmino used to play as SS/ATM. You can't play such position without having fluidity in your game.
Jesus is a better box player but Firmino is better outside the box. That's how I judge them

TheGoodJoe:

It was from Firmino I used to understand the importance of playing in a fluid pattern. It makes him difficult to mark. If you watch Gabriel Jesus game, you notice he operates in a deeper position than Firmino.

Based on rep, Firmino is ahead but when it comes to fluidity Gabriel Jesus does it better.

Also, Gabriel Jesus can play the Support striking role too.
I will have to watch Jesus more anyway. But from the little I saw of him, he looked to me a fox in the box kind of striker.

Tite will do well to exploit the relationship between coutinho and Firmino at the world cup next year. That is the best combo for Brazil in my opinion of course.

TheGoodJoe:
From what I have seen so far, if you want a player who does more for the team when it comes to dropping deep to help build up plays and also help win balls, Gabriel Jesus is ahead.

Although they are similar in style, we can not deny the fluidity of Gabriel Jesus and his ability to interchange passes in midfield.

That is why I see him ahead of Firmino in the National team and he has not done badly.
I haven't watched Jesus play for an entire season but from what I saw of him from last year, I don't really think he should be ahead of Firmino.
Firmino's natural position is the no8 or second striker. He did so well in this position at Hoffeinhiem. He even played as am attacking midfielder at times. I wonder how Jesus would be better than him dropping deep given his development at Hoffeinhiem.
Brazilians are very sentimental about their football. That seems to be Firmino's problem.

L iverpool midfielder Roberto Firmino is battling to win over fans back home in Brazil.
Firmino proved the matchwinner at West Brom on Saturday. But he's not as well thought of in his homeland.
South American football expert Tim Vickery told the
BBC's World Football Phone-in : "He's got a problem with the Brazilian public which is that he didn't play for a high-profile, glamourous club before he moved to Europe - he's made his career in Germany.
"Because of the injury to Gabriel Jesus he played for Brazil in the two recent two World Cup qualifiers.
"I think he did very well. He slotted in at centre-forward, was mobile, linked very well with his Liverpool team-mate Philippe Coutinho .
"He's getting some stick from some of the Brazilian pundits.
"I think that is purely and simply because he's not seen as a glamour player.
"He's mobile, he's intelligent, he's got that ability to swivel and play in 360 degrees - but not a high-profile player over here.
"It's someone who needs to keep on doing the business for Liverpool to raise his profile with his home public."

Gabriel Jesus is keeping Firmino, a regular forward for Liverpool on the bench in the Brazilian National team. Alli is having an easy ride. Let Nacho keep working hard. Game time will come.
I see you always make this point about Jesus being ahead of Firmino for Brazil.

Truth is that it has nothing to do with Jesus being better than Firmino but it's just a matter of perception. Brazilians don't consider Firmino high profile enough being that he was not a household name while he played in Brazil.
It has nothing to do with abilities of both players.

I forsee Firmino leading the Brazilian charge in Russia next year ahead of Jesus. Firmino is the better all round player in my opinion.

Why Supersport switched off Nigerian League

The decision by pay television giants Supersport to terminate its broadcast rights with the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) yesterday is purely business.
The South African based company has been hard pressed economically in the market considered its second largest in Africa due to the prevailing harsh business climate in the country.
“The recession especially in Nigeria has wiped out Supersport’s earning since 2015 when Nigerian Naira crushed against the Dollar,” a reliable source told Soka25east.com.
“Infact, Supersport is almost going out of business due to the recession, as there is a huge mismatch in their business model. 95% of their costs are in $USD while all their earnings are in Naira,” the source added.
Supersport’s troubles were compounded by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s move to remove them from tangible category to intangible category, meaning they cannot access Forex exchange at the CBN rates, and were asked to source from open market.
“This clearly ruined their business and wiped out all their earnings. And they were not allowed to increase their subscription fees to recover the difference.”
The League Management Committee (LMC) had written to Supersport – inviting them for renegotiation as the current seven-year-contract penned in 2013 was drawing to a close.
“When the contract was signed in 2013 Naira was about 160 against 1 Dollar, it’s currently at around 300 against 1 Dollar.”
The cost of production of matches in the NPFL has also shot up almost three folds.
“The cost of production rose from an average of N6M to about N15M.”
NPFL is the third African topflight to be plugged off by Supersport after Ghana’s last year and Kenya’s a couple of weeks back.
Supersport maintains its presence in Zimbabwean, Zambian and South African leagues.
Last month they paid top Dollar to secure the English Premier League rights till 2022.

BREAKING NEWS: SUPER SOPRTS STOPS LIVE BROADCAST OF NPFL MATCHES

Cable sports channel SuperSport has pulled out of the
deal with organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL) due to alleged breach of contract.
SuperSport for years has been the official broadcast sponsor
of the NPFL which is organised by the League Management
Company (LMC).
According to SuperSport, the termination was as a result of a
breach of contract on the part of the LMC.
Caroline Oghuma, the Public Relations officer of DSTV
could not reveal how the LMC breached the contract of their
deal.
“It was terminated due to a breach of contract, that’s the
official position of the company on this matter,” Oghuma
told Pulse Sports.
The General Manager of SuperSport West Africa Felix
Awogu also told Pulse Sport that the company have spent
an average of N6b annually for the last nine years for both
broadcast right and production.
All efforts to know how the LMC breached the contract was
not successful as SuperSport insist that it is on the LMC part
to reveal that information.
Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko could not be reached
for further information.
The development comes weeks after Supersport took a
similar decision in Kenya – terminating a ten-year
relation with the Kenyan Premier League.
Currently, they only show live matches of the Zambian
Super League and the South Africa’s Premier Soccer
League.
In 2016, the company, who claimed to be downsizing
its operations in Africa for business reasons, ended
their union with the Ghanaian Premier League, which
another pay television company Star Times have since
taken over.
Supersport, who used to hold the TV right of the
Nigeria Basketball League, has lost it to Kwese Sports.
There are also dwindling subscription numbers and
stiff competition from new entrants like Star Times,
Kwese Sports among others.
In August 2013, the LMC secured a four year broadcast
deal with Supersport worth $34 million. The contract
was to run for four years, between 2015 and 2019.
Following the take-over of the basketball league, Kwese
Sports is likely to be the next broadcast right owner of
the NPFL.
.
www.pulse.ng/sports/football/supersport-stops-broadcast-of-live-npfl-games-id6556453.html
The economic recession have really affected Nigeria in all sectors of the economy.
Supersports withdrew their sponsorship of the league owing to the economic downturn and the dollar-naira exchange rate gyrating up and down like a yoyo.

From what I gathered, the Cbn delisted super sports from the category of business ventures whom they sell dollars to at the official rate. Meaning that Supersports will have to access forex via the bureau de change round trippers.
Being a foreign coy, obviously their expenses are in dollars while their income is in naira.
When they signed the contract with LMC,they accessed forex at the office rate of N160. The alternative was to raise their subscription charges but they are bound by law not to raise their subscription rate.

I don't think the NPFL will be on the screens anytime soon. Even the touted Kwese sports is a foreing owned organisation. They will still fight the same demons Super sports fought and in this case, they could be operating at a loss. The business climate in Nigeria is not conducive at all.

There is a big possibility of a fall out and I nurtured that thought after Gabriel Jesus got injured. However, the improvements I am seeing in Delph and Fernando convinces me that it is not the case.
You don come again with your Delph matter. Delph have always been that good. He has been out of the team a long time owning to the form of Fernandinho. He was not trusted enough. Guardiola must have thought of him because Fernandinho have been converted to a CB. That's how I see his situation.
Even Fernando was highly appreciated at Porto. They nicknamed him the octopus I think.

Kelechi might need a change of environment to flourish. Being under the tutelage of Guardiola for a whole year is enough to learn whatever he needs to learn. Except you're suggesting Kelechi is a slow learner.

I can understand the clamor for game time but you of all people knew my stance. I have full belief in Guardiola's methods and made it clear just after he arrived. That was during the preseason.

A season or two under Guardiola EVEN IF IHEANACHO IS ON THE BENCH, will make him a better player.

You in particular was shocked at the statement, given my belief in Nacho. I explained he will need time adapting and competition for game.

Where we are now is troubling to some but not me. I envisaged this happening and believed Iheanacho will become better after it. I never expected an easy path or regular game time.

I understand Rohr's perspective. He wants to monitor the development of his players and know where to contribute to their development. He can not do this with Nacho not playing. I get our Super Eagles boss and bow to his demands.

Not yours. Lol.
I actually agree with your line of thought. Kelechi is just 20. He still have a lot to learn from senior players at City since he won't learn much from those in front of him in the national team.
A 20yr old Messi spent most of his time on the bench understudying Crespo, Tevez and Saviola at the 2006 world cup.

My problem with Guardiola is not exactly lack of game time for Kelechi but how he's managing him. From Guardiola's antecedents. I wouldn't be surprised if news come out that he doesn't talk to Kelechi. I contested this issue with you a long time ago.
Something tells me since he does not make the Manchester City team sheet, he might not be on speaking terms with Guardiola. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.

If he has fallen out with Guardiola, it's of no use Kelechi remaining there. He will be better off changing environment if that be the case.

There is a stage in the WC where the experience of the big players carry the team through.

Pundits including my humble self believe that this team is likely to peak post 2018 WC. We see the 2018 WC as a good exposure and by 2019 AFCON and beyond we expect this team to be on top at least in Africa.
Thank God atleast someone got my point. Seems we never learn from the past. I still recall how we took a lot of kids to Korea Japan 2002, we massaged our egos with the youngest team of the tournament tag but what happened? We nearly lost 3 games at a spin.
It still pains me remembering how Argentina tortured us in the first game, forget the scoreline, we saw what happened on the pitch.

How many matches has Iwobi played this season for Nigeria that it is the reason for him burning? Young players have seen games and remained at a high level. They are plenty. Players like Modric, James Rodriguez, Neymar etc.
You may not know but I will tell you, Wenger have been accused of over playing young players. Players like Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcot have suffered burn out as a result of being overplayed at a young age by Wenger. These guys have incurred long term injuries because of this. Even Fabregas suffered as a result of this. I recall Barcelona being alarmed at the number of games he had played in his short career (he was injured when he signed for Barcelona).
Arsenal employed the German physio Shad Forshyte to help their player's gain high fitness levels and recovery time. He has a way of calculating when a player is on the red zone (that's what they call it) in getting stress related injuries. Even Sanchez is either withdrawn or don't start at all if he's on the red zone.
Traveling to Africa for a guy like Iwobi takes it's toll on his body. You can't rule it out.

James Rodriguez, Neymar and Ozil are recent examples of young players that took the World Cup with a raging storm. Maradona and Pele are too far.
These guys you mentioned had experienced players who played a decoy role for them to shine. Ozil had Schweisteger at the Base of his midfield while James had Falcao and even a 40 yr old Yepes as his captain. Totally different scenario to Kelechis.

Tell that to Iniesta who played regularly for Club and country at a young age. What of Xavi? Or Gerard or Scholes.

Young players have played instrumental roles in clubs. Iwobi needs to know that he needs to keep working hard to remain on top. No time for too much play.
Xavi and iniesta where never regulars for Barcelona till Deco/Ronaldinho left in 2006/07.
Gerrard was never a regular for England when he was young. He was not a regular at the 2002 world cup.
Young players easily get burnt out during the course of the season. It happens all the time. That is where you need an experienced team and manager to help pull him through.

You are doing the best you can to subtly belittle this Lad Called Kelechi Iheanacho.....

What do you mean by Men's world cup is Men's world cup??

Pele at 17, Muller at 20, Klose at 21 or so.... all were "men" abi??

Ighalo and Ideye and even Emenike were never close to world class... so live with it.... Kelechi is the best we have got.... whether you like it or not ...

And he will be one of the team's leaders at the World cup.... at his young age... so brace yourself for that and stop belittling the young man...

Guys like Tammy and Osimhen will still come in and hopefully live up to their "world class" potentials...

And about The GK role... it is what it is right now. enyeama is still forming James Bond citing someone in the NFF as his reason for not wanting to come back "yet", Akpeyi looks like our most likely goalie if Ikeme doesn't recover on time.... or else Rohr wanna surprise us all and hand a debut to a rookie... in goal.

And the goalkeeper role is the most sensitive of a team's defence. So we can only hope and watch for now.... coz unless something happens... then Akpeyi it is... as much as I hate the admission of it. sad
Nobody is belittling anyone. Its very convenient to mention Pele and cite Maradona but truth remains that the world cup is not exactly a playing ground for young lads. Italy had to recall a certain Del Piero and Totti to pilot their 2006 world cup ambitions. Even Germany recalled Miroslav Klose for the Brazil mundial. These are facts,if our older strikers were up and doing, Kelechi would have still be playing second fiddle to them.

What concerns me is Iheanacho becoming a better player in the near future. If rushing him to a team that will diminish him in the name of looking for goals and assists, I am wholeheartedly against it.

The whole game time thing has been blown of the map with Iwobi and Ighalo deteriorating with game time. It is misleading.

What is most important is Iheanacho's continuous development.
I see you always mention Iwobi when you want to justify Iheanacho sitting in the stands.....

Truth is that Iwobi did not detoriate because he's playing. Rather I think Iwobi's form have been inconsistent lately because of fatigue.
This is his first full season as a professional and he has played 80% of matches this season when you factor in national team assignments, the numbers are venue higher. Arsenal seem to have noticed he is in the red zone and gradually withdrew him from the front lines, he needs a rest . He's just 20 afterall.

What else is there to add about Ikeme if not that Akpeyi would be in goal yet again?

We can talk and shout all we want but we have said it already.... alampasu and Nwokolor and Emma Daniel are the best young goalies we have right now.... but will any get the nod to start in a competitive game when Rohr has not seen them in a friendly esp. when he has Akpeyi who has kept goal against Algeria and Senegal under Rohr and also against Egypt under Siasia??

And the Kelechi matter is very important biko.... we are talking of one of Nigeria's brightest young talents in this upcoming generation. It is as important as that Gk position because whether we like it or not or you like or not... he remains our biggest goal threat and it is important we talk about his future.
Talking about Kelechi and his next destination or if he stays at City or not is not exactly of importance now because the transfer window opens in August. This season have not even been concluded.
It's just the condition we find ourself is quite dire. If Ighalo, Ideye and Emenike had lived up to expectations and became really world class, we wouldn't even be talking about Kelechi leading our attack at the world cup. He would have just been a sub where he won't be under immense pressure to deliver. He's still learning afterall and men's world cup us men's world cup.

The Gk issue remains a big worry if Enyeama don't come back. In Africa you need a world class Gk performance to get a result, especially away from home. I don't know how well Akpeyi and co will cope judging by the lack of confidence Nigerians and even the technical crew seem to have about them.

BABY MOURINHO who thinks he invented Football.

'What kind of nutcase are you?' Schmidt yelled. 'Do you think you invented football? Shut your mouth.'

That was former manager of Bayer Leverkusen yelling at Julian Nagelsmann, the coach known as the one in hunt for the signature of the promising Nigerian striker Iheanacho. This is just a snap view of what makes this young coach, youngest in the history of the Bundesliga when he became head coach of Hoffenheim at 28 years old, a good destination for Nacho.

Nagelsmann is a coach who worked under the promising Tuchel who is respected for his possessive style of play and eyes for promising young talents. His team plays at tremendous pace.

After Nagelsmann suffered knee injuries that put an end to his playing career, Tuchel who was coach of Ausburg gave Nagelsmann a job as club scout and part of his technical analysis crew. Nagelsmann was just 20.

He later became a youth coach at Hoffenheim and had a successful spell, including lifting the title. That was where he was dubbed the Baby Mourinho.

He rejected a job at Bayern Munich to work with their youth team and got an almost impossible task to save Hoffenheim from relegation. Being the youngest coach in the history of Bundesliga, this looked impossible.

Nagelsmann did not only save Hoffenheim, they now sit third on the Bundesliga table. This is remarkable considering he is 29 now.

A coach to watch out for. He plays a high intensity pressing style like Klopp when his team loses the ball. He also likes his team to keep possession like Guardiola and Tuchel.

With his history as a scout and working Tuchel who is good at Managing young talents, he seems a man who can spot quality young talents.

With his ability to transform a relegation threatened club into a team close to qualifying for the champions league in few months, it shows Nagelsmann has a lot to offer the game of football.

He may not have invented football but he is inventing something special.

If Nacho wants to make a move from City, I see Hoffenheim as a right direction.

I am suspecting Rohr who has deep knowledge in German Youth football.

The coveyour belt in Germany keeps churning out world class managers every season, Nagelsman is another of such example.
From what I know about him, he's a former student of Tuchel who in turn was mentored by the legendary Wolfgang Frank. Jurgen Klop also went through Wolfgang Frank's mentorship. David Wagner, the manager at Huddersfield is another of the Wolfgang Frank philosophy. He's been impressive with Huddersfield this season.

Kelechi will be fine at Hoffeinheim, Monchenglabach, Schalke and Hertha Berlin. These clubs have been great training youngsters. In England, Southampton will be very good for him.

Outside of this Kelechi matter, am surprised nobody have brought this up. Carl Ikeme have been ruled out of the season. This means he is out of the South African game and maybe out if the Cameroun games (I believe he will still be recuperating). Where do we go from here?
I think Rohr brought up the recall of Enyeama because he had prior knowledge of Ikeme's condition.
The Gk position is more worthy of discuss than Kelechi at the moment.

You didn't mention the state of residence of your brother.
However, if I am to suggest, I will ask your brother to first join a kick around team in your neighbourhood. They will put him in the best physical conditions and boost his confidence in an organised set up.
He can as well join his school team, that is if he is not in the school team already. I believe he is in secondary school and his school have a games master. You can talk to his games master and ask him to allow your brother try out with the school team.

These are the baby steps to take enroute to seek out an academy to sign him up. If he doesn't take these steps, he might not do well in trial when he presents himself at an academy. Obviously during trials, he would be facing hot players he's not used to. Infact he may not pass the strength and conditioning test during trials with some of these academies if he just goes from home to trials.

This is the registration form for the kwara academy registration form you can check them out.
http://kwarafootballacademy.com/apply-now/

You may as well check Abuja football academy website. I hear Barcelona will flag off their Academy in Lagos later this year. However, he should first take the steps I listed to prepare himself. Its a very long and excruciating journey, I wish him good luck.

Emeka Inyama REWARDS TEENAGE PROSPECT WITH CASH GIFT

Chairman of NPFL side Abia Warriors, High Chief Emeka Inyama was a surprise guest at the Owerri centre of the ongoing NPFLU15Promises Tournament on Tuesday.
Inyama who we learnt supervised the screening exercise of his team back in Umuahia to ensure only players under the age grade were picked was impressed with the lads' output despite going down 0-3 to Rivers United U15, a day after they lost 5-0 to Akwa United U15.
One of the stars of the show, Abia Warriors' No. 10, Henry Udezuka who thrilled spectators with some lovely footballing skills however had cause to smile after the game when Inyama, the former NNL Chairman rewarded him with a cash prize of #10,000.
Udezuka who was shocked and delighted by the gesture immediately sent #8,000 to his mum through one of his coaches while he shared the remaining #2,000 with his teammate.
Inyama stated that it was his own way of encouraging the young lads who he believes have a great future ahead of them in the game regardless of what results they post in this year's tournament.
The youngster while speaking after the game thanked the club Chairman and stated that the skills he used are natural gifts from God. He also added that Emeka Isaac in the senior team is a player he likes and wants to surpass in his career. So, keep that name: Henry udezuka
Abia warriors is a well run community club, although state owned. They got Chisom Chikatara from a roadside club in Umuahia and turned him into a star.

What suprises me most is that things weren't like this in the last in decade. I still remember vividly that d old NTA showed live NPFL matches on sundays even when de were without all these affiliated stations of theirs(NTAsports, news24 etc). I watched a championship like this some years ago sponsored by airtel, which was actually live of TV. The LMC needs to secure title sponsorship for this tournament, although I thought the La Liga was involved with the sponsorship of this championship.

This can't be real. They must have been exposed to some radioactive substance when they were young.

Nowadays, big clubs would rather go pick a player from an academy than from the NPFL. That is why NPFL players end up in NorthAfrica, Israel, Malta and the likes.

That is why i am pleased with the LMC introducing youth teams.
What is it you see in these so called Street academies you hype up so much. The Federations cup is on currently at the state level, a club manager invited me to watch their game this evening and I did oblige.

You could see real talents on the ground if you watch these local teams. However, the plight of these teams and management structure is nothing to write home about. The only training equipment they have doesn't go beyond a couple of balls and a few training beeps. Players transport themselves to training and games, no training cones and dummys, medics zero, basically they train with nothing.
I don't know why you hype these academies so much. As far as am concerned, we have impostors pretending to run academies. How you compare these teams to fully equipped NPFL teams with a management structure and state allocations running into hundreds of million per season.

The kwara academy was the only academy I visited and dropped my hat. They had fully developed gym, about 7 training pitches and so many other world class facilities. I don't know what have become or that academy.

This is an academy player someone reported Shaktar were looking at. Just look at how unkempt he is. The scene if I am to say is probably a local primary school. This guy will run himself to the ground in a trial game just to sign for Remo stars.

I am trying to prove to you that the quality is low, not the ease of scoring or not scoring. I can not take the league statistics as a measure of how good a player is because as history has shown, several times they do not perform so well in better leagues

Chisom Egbuchulam so far has not played a second in Sweden since his loan deal, even when the team is chasing the game. This is a player that shone so brightly last year. This is the Swedish League, not one of the best league in the world. Ezekiel is not faring any better in Barca B.

There are several historical examples that go way back.

Mfom Udoh at this point should be playing at a higher level. I rated him very highly a few years ago but it looks like he has overstayed in the league.
The league in Sweden just started. Chisom scored a brace in one of the friendlies they played during the international break.
Sweden is not Chisom's father's house. He will need a few months to bed in properly.
Mfon is still a good player,he is not slacking at all this season. He cannot buy himself. Its not his fault he keeps scoring in the champions league and the local league , yet he doesn't get the attention of good European clubs.

I researched a bit in the case of Jude Aneke and I discovered he signed a bad contract with an Egyptian team, Al masry. The team couldn't pay his wages for 5months($300,000). They couldn't offset his clearance from Warri wolves. This bad move affected his career so bad that he didn't play for 5 months.

Sometimes it's easy to sit and be all critical about people, asking where is this one and that one. But if you dig deep and understand the predicament of these players, you will realise some unforseen forces stopped them from progressing. It could be a rogue agent or a bad club president that held up their careers.

Then we should flood SE with home based players because we stand more to gain. The point has been on repeat but many of u can't swallow it. Odey will even be more valuable after proving himself in CHAN and maybe later in SE. There is no point for the noise when nobody has ruled him out. Rohr is watching these local games. If he didn't have these boys on his plans he won't bother watching. His time mustn't be now. We need to chill.
Who is taking of flooding the national team with homebased players? We are not on the same page, obviously.

Bro...they will siphon these money...
I have seen clubs which made transfer of players abroad ..go bankrupt the following season
can't even pay players....
BJ football club made money from the sale of Isaac success but few season after could not finance the team transportation to kogi from Benin...
abeg leave this matter corruption in Nigeria football stinks
Talking about corruption will lead to so many things.
Truth is that some of these so called academies aren't properly registered. If we are to take stuck, I don't think we can point more than 2 academies in Nigeria who are professionally run.
We can't stand still because of corruption. That's the truth.

Jude Aneke and Mfon Udoh,

Where are they now?

The league statistics hold little weight when all home teams can't lose
You could only come up with 2 names? And you're trying to prove to me that scoring goals in the Nigerian league is easy?

I don't know about Jude Aneke but Mfon Udoh is very fine. He is the captain of Enyimba. Last season, he was one of he top scorers in the Caf champions league up to the group stages.
Your mentality that anyone who is not playing outside Nigeria is not made need to be changed. And he is well paid too in Enyimba. Thanks for asking

The quality is not high yet... A few years ago, the top half of the league won all of their home games. It is difficult to take statistics seriously given that background. Thankfully, there has been some improvements but we have a long way to go

In the whole league, you will struggle to pick 7 players that can make the super eagles squad. That is like picking needles in a hay stack. That is why competitions like CHAN are important because they help to sort out those that have real quality and pretenders.

We might still get to see Odey invited to the team in the summer if he keeps up his scoring form. I hope he gets to prove himself.
Oh dear, all these because I asked how many times we have recorded a player get to the 20 goal mark in the NPFL?

I will ask again, how many times have we seen a player get to the 20 goal mark in the Nigerian league over the last 40years?

If you can't mention at least 10 names then you stand on no authority whatsoever to say scoring goals into the NPFL is easy.

local content? na wa oh
i see both Nigeria-born and otherwise as Nigerians as long as they commit to us. there is no reason for the division.
We are not talking commodity here where we can say foreign goods versus home grown. this is football, and they all represent Nigeria. For example, there is no way England as a nation will benefit from Abraham representing Nigeria, unlike where other countries can benefit from importation. So let's leave football out of this.

Modified

Next thing we will bring national character into the matter. lol
Do you know what Nigeria stands to gain if a guy like Odeh is sold from Mfm to Monaco for €5M? Hypothetically speaking

You may not realise this but I will break it down for you.

Do you know that the Nff will get a percentage from that deal?
Do you know Lagos state FA will equally get a cut from the deal because Mfm is domiciled in Lagos?
Do you know the local club where Mfm got Odey from will equally get a cut from this deal?

The ripple effect this revenue generated will go a long way in exciting the system and producing many more exciting prospects from the grassroots.

Having established some of these facts, I would like to ask, do you think a European team will pay €5M for a player playing in Nigeria, who has no first team national team experience?
When I talked about promoting local content, this is exactly what I mean.

Maybe if you're watching football as a spectator what I said wouldn't mean much to you but if you're at the administrative level, you will understand very well what message am passing across.
