Those who can should save money and leave the country for your sanity. Poverty in Africa is a weapon of mass control.
What about the majority who can't save as they barely sustain on what they have and so can't leave.

Whether we leave and get gifted citizenship in working nations, fact still remains that we're not from there but from this side of the Niger.

It'll be better to fight to make Nigeria work than to go and fight for acceptance in another man's land that they fought hard to get working. Not a lasting solution to the problem, I believe.

Some of you ehn.
Dude, because someone did a bad thing and got away, does that mean we should do likewise? Shouldn't we rather copy humane examples?

Of note is also that it was a 'show' that would lead to a job. Character of participants needed to be tested besides talent. Note, show and business together. You dig the difference?

you don't have to put up all these to drive home a pont bro. He owns his money. You do not decide or dictate to him how to spend his money you know? You may not be feeling entitled to his money though but what you put up there shows otherwise. Your writeup doesn't allign with your claim that you aren't entitled because you're telling him HOW to spend his money

Btw, you do not compare a private citizen to politicians bro. Especially a private citizen who doesn't eat from the pause of those politicians.

Your comparism is wrong. Snowland isn't a politician. He owes no one explanation on how and when to spends his money. Our politicians does owe us not a private citizens like you and i
I know his intention is probably good. However, he employed an instrument of the elite and the political handlers in his method. This aswell is probably out of innocence.

Proverbs 10:15 KJV — The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Humans can easily be turned into weapons against themselves or others.

The principle is simple. Just take away or control some basic necessities of life thereby making living unbearable for them.

Or, still, introduce something people can't do without or think they can't do without then withdraw or control it.

For example, people get hooked on hard drugs and it's used to control them, Russia is currently using supply of fuel in this way and the US would not sell military gadgets to Nigeria during Jonathan's government unless he acceded to their demands.

Take food for instance. Starve a man long enough and he'd do anything for food. Anything. Including to kill and eat another man. Restrict his freedom of movement(kidnapping says hi) and see him succumb to manipulation and all manner of self degradation.

Sadly, Nigerians have been turned into a weapon by the elite through poverty and education suppression. (The weakness thus exposed in the fabric of the citizenry has become visible to the average joes, with leftovers in their barns, that they've also joined in its exploitation. )

This was intentional and calculated. Beginning from the North and creeping to the south. Birthing the Almajiris(aka Boko Haram) and Bandits in the North. While producing militants and rebels in the South, and a masses, made pliable by hardship and hunger, that can be commandeered by a wave of bread in their faces.

It was not an overnight operation. It began years before and was nourished from government to government. Now, it has fully matured. Much like a nuclear enrichment programme.

Popularity and success of social media "giveaways" is a testimony to this. people are asked to do all manner of things, even to "like" what they hate, just so they can get some reward. Most still end up not getting the promised reward but still keep at it with hope of eventually getting lucky someday. It is frightening that Nigerians are now like a bio-nuclear weapon fully armed and ready to fire.

Just about anyone, not just politicians, can control the masses. It has become so easy and cheap to do by the mere magnitude of hardship in the land. People are told to bark or rollover and they do it at little or no hesitation. Just promises are enough. And we know that a promise is the only thing you give without actually giving anything.

There was a time when parents punished their children for begging or accepting alms from people simply because it was a tinge on their dignity. Such children were looked upon as belonging to irresponsible parents therefore an insult on their parents' persons. Poverty has ensured no more dignity but degradation.

The situational irony however is that a dog would eat up its handler when sufficiently starved. The handlers too are not dumb. They know this truth. So they keep the people distracted using tribalism, religion and regionalism. This way they keep the people on a leash long enough to attack themselves but not the handlers.

Some who are able to break away from their leashes japa unto greener pastures. This in itself is a luxury a good two hundred millions can't afford. Else they'd all have abandoned the nation for the handlers. The handlers have so rigged the system to make sure of this.

The way out is a revolution. Either peacefully via election and voting, or, through another Endsar pro max.

Note that I have nothing against giveaways. Only pointing out that it is one of the instruments set up by the elite and political class for their convenient use in controlling the people. Sadly, the people now also use it on themselves. As it has become cheap and easy to do.

1. I usually don't respond to this type of comments but I will respond to this

2. We need to learn to be appreciative of every little thing we receive, either easily or not. The kind of attitude that most Nigerians in Nigeria portray is the main reason why lots of people decided not to help. I have many Nigerians here that are doing way better than I am and that are equally on Nairaland. This same entitlement mentality of MOST people on this forum is what's stopping them from helping.
Response to items 1 and 2

1. "Thank you for coming down from your high and exalted throne to do me an honour, your majesty!"

2. "Nigerians , no matter the conditions I give, just be grateful I'm giving at all. I'm nice that's why I give. Others are not nice and also don't give because your attitudes are bad."

On behalf of all Nairanders and Nigerians as a whole, I say thank you for your philanthropy.

You've studied him? You know he is not doing it for any attention. Wa sere. Kontinu

I've also studied all Nigerian politicians. I know everything they do is for the masses! In fact, they're not in politics for the money!!

This is not the first time Snowland had been helping us here with giveaway so your accusation that he's calling for attention is wrong

It is a giveaway that obviously cannot go round reason why criteria must be put in place just to filter some people. We all cannot have it obviously and i do not see any big deal in the criteria

It is giveaway for goodness sake. I mean free 10k and i see no crime answering 10 questions correctly or wrongly inorder to be a partaker
If he's been doing it for years, shouldn't there be an established protocol to it already? How did he do it the previous years?

Using participation in travel section, as a criterion, should have been enough, but 10 questions...

Politicians too exploit the fact that we see nothing wrong in standing in line every 4 years to scramble for crumbs thrown to us.

At least for the politicians, we can say this for them that their motive's are clear but not same for Mr snowland.

For some of us, it's not food o, it's in the gene. The only meal I've had today as I type now for instance was rice in the morning. No lunch. I have beside me suya now that I'm munching. That will be all for today.

It's one of the reasons I move about a lot. Even when I'm on leave from work, I go out to do other personal side hustle cause if I sit in for one week, I'll almost be double my size.
I like myself cause I'm smart and agile.
Meaning you don't the money for the side hustle but for the fat

"I like myself because I'm smart ", sounds like self-conscious defense plus sales pitch.

No offence intended.

There's too much fanfare accompanying this giveaway. 10 questions for 10 thousands. What if op is giving out 1 million, how many questions, then?

And all that criteria? For what exactly?

A great man told me that if people could lie about needing help, then, they truly need help! So I needn't bother about the verity of their claims nor their honesty if I have to give them.

Without making front-page, thread drew more attention than those that did.

I daresay snowland bought attention for 270k. For what, exactly, I don't know.

We love it like this, it is not boring, and for the most part I like it bcoz it hide our identity. Its similar to reddit
Lol, it can still hide identity in style. Reddit is rich in features and functionalities and they keep innovating and improving.

For example, Reddit has comment grading system (upvote and downvote). Also, its way of presenting a quoted comment/response is conventional practice for communities such as Quora, Stackexchange, Github even twitter. This is in keeping with modern best practice.

Additionally, there is user ranking according to impact or contribution made to the communities(this is for forums). Reddit calls it karma. Plus you can gift a user if you find their response satisfactory.

There is a saying in the tech world that it's either you innovative or die.
I daresay that Nairaland is still relevant and retains membership for lack of worthy competition.

Webmasters / Can Someone Please Explain Why Nairaland Is Not Getting Better by Goldmynemaniac: 6:42pm On Dec 28, 2022
As 2022 comes to a close, let's take stock.

Nairaland was founded in 2005. I joined in 2011 after using it without registering for 2 years.

Meaning I've been on the site for over 10 years. In all these while, interesting people have come and gone(or maybe changed their handles). Some are still around but less active.

People like Afam4eva, Redmosquito, Mukina2, mrCork, lalasticlala.... made the forum fun (Oh, nostalgia!)

What is worrisome is that nairaland has refused to improve in features and functionalities, design and dynamism, content quality, etc, after all these years.

Considering advancements in web technology, gadget power gains and better internet speed, why Nairaland remains unchanging like a worn-out castle from the dark ages beats my imagination.

Anyone that knows why should please explain to me like I'm five. Even better if seun can make a defence for himself.

Oya, let's know the feature you'd like added or removed from Nairaland.

So because I am not impressed with your asslicking a fellow human then I have bitterness . No two humans have the same path in life. Be yourself and stop trying to be someone else. Make your own Playlist and enjoy not forcing yourself to enjoy the music 'because it is on Obama's Playlist' .
Only bile will make someone unable to appreciate progress...progress of his race(black) and progress of his people(Nigerians)

Else, do you mind telling me yourself what your problem is?

You wrote rubbish up there, stopped reading where you talked about ex white president.
If you like hear Obama's Playlist, books and even stalk his entire life, it will not make you a success in life.
Be original and succeed, not trying to be low budget Obama.
Man is a product of influence. No matter how much of a free thinker you believe you are, you were influenced.

This issue here though is not of influence. It is that of a bitterness seething within that has corroded your thought and view.

You dey confuse yourself. His being Obama gives him godlike status . He is nothing special just flesh and blood like everyone else.
You just wan form woke but by hyping a human just like you shows your inferiority complex.
Enjoy his Playlist, if you can't think for yourself, but there is nothing special about it.
I'm not forming woke, I'm woke. Not that you know what woke means.

Stop trying to project your inferiority complex on others. Bet it would've been okay with you if it was a white ex president that made that list.

Why black man always hating on black man and can't see anything good in himself.

The first black president of America listens to three great, black, Nigerian musicians...

To love other people's children while hating on yours is directly proportional to the square of hating on yourself.

A song said 'you should try and love yourself. '
Take this advice into 2023. It'll do you a world of good.

See good in yourself then you can see it in blacks and humanity at large.

A culture of honour will go a long way to help you be able to appreciate others and their achievements.

Note that it doesn't have to be about you to matter.

If feeling depressed or suicidal, please talk to somebody.

Remove all those titles and he is just a human being just like you and I, with his own taste
which is not necessarily mine.
Would my listening to his Playlist make me president of the US
Don't hero worship like that, it reduces your self worth.
Without removing those 'titles', he is already human. And so are other over 7 billion people.

Difference is: He is Obama and they are not!

You already admit he's a 'hero' however I'm not in support of you worshipping him but God.
