First, article publication in reputable journals goes through several stages which is beyond the power of the author and in most cases the editor. The longest stage is the peer reviewing stage which varies between 15 days to 5 months, revision stage, acceptance stage, proofing and production stage, online article publication stage. All reputable journals pass through these stages irrespective of the publishing house (Elsevier or springer or Taylor’s or Willey).

No fixed time or days and it is Daylight lie that it takes 6 months for Elsevier to get back to you. It maybe as short as 1 month or even longer than 10 months....no fixed days ....That’s how publication in reputable journals goes.

80% if my papers come from Elsevier, 15% from Springer and 5% from Taylor’s & Francis. From my experience I publish 1-4 months and in 2018 I published 12 papers, 2019 Target is 20 papers 65% reached while others under review.

I think your focus should be on the quality, significance, innovation and industrial applications of your publication. Only fake Indian journals and the likes publish in 10 days and such articles published in predatory and fake journals are strongly frowned upon and lowers the reputation of the authors/academic involve. All well ranked universities focus more in reputable and quality research output in well recognized journals irrespective of publication time.

Please don’t listen to excuses from failures ... such always give negative energy to everything they could not achieve ...

Best wishes

I'm most grateful, Prof. Many thanks

This is really great to hear Nigerian universities are now adopting SCI-based reputable journals. This will drastically improve their international reputations and ranking globally.

Please take note; 98% of subscription-based journals (meaning not open access) is free to publish. I have published over 60 SCI-based journals and never pay for publication in my life.

Please visit Elsevier Journals type likely research title, related journals will pop out. Select the ones that match your field and check under authors guide, you will see the ones that are subscriptions based then you can publish there because they are free. For instance below journals are free, you can search more by following the link here:

https://journalfinder.elsevier.com

Best wishes!

Thank you so much, Prof. But I was told that it takes journals under Elsevier like 6 months to review your manuscript before getting back to you. Is this true?

Good morning dear Prof @wip. I am an academic in one of the Nigerian universities. A rule has been made that all our publications must be made in journals that are indexed in Thomson Reuters. I have also been made to understand that journals in Thomson Reuters charge very high to publish in them. Could you please suggest reputable journals indexed in Thomson Reuters that are free to publish in areas of electronics, telecommunications and computers? God bless you really good, Prof.

This is how we voted in respect of the hashtags.

5. #DPR2016recruitmentInconclusive 12Likes

7. #DPR2016recruitmentWhereIsTheMerit 8Likes

3. #DPR!CommonNigeriansMatter 7Likes

1. #DPR2016recruitment 7Likes

2. #AhmadShakurWhereIsYourIntegrity 4Shares

4. #AhmadShakurMustDoTheRightThing 2Shares

8. #AhmadShakurYouFailedTheCommonNigerians 2Shares

6. #DPR2016recruitmentWhereIsTheOpenness 0Share

Note: Our focus is on the first three hashtags. Some might want to use any of the other five hashtags but it should not be used at the expense of our target hashtags.

MODALITIES FOR USE OF THE HASHTAGS ON TWITTER
1. Every tweet MUST contain the 3 hashtags for effectiveness or split the hashtags in different tweets but ensure the all get equal representation to trend.

2. You can tag one or more accounts for each tweet but put into consideration the limit for a tweet ensuring that atleast the hashtag(s) is/are included for every tweet.

3. Tweet about any grievance or disappointment you know is associated with the recruitment as the body of the tweet.

For example,
@dprhotonline You needed me for public test & interview but need stakeholder candidates to share secret slots & appointment letters #DPR2016recruitmentWhereIsTheMerit

So in essence we need to tweet as much as we can. Get our friends and relatives to join in this cause. Tag any account you are convinced can help. Ignore all the distractions and the "they can't help" or "it won't work" prophets. Do what is right. Whether it works or not, it's not a do or die affair, but be hopeful IT WILL WORK.

To make an impact I suggest we agree on time ranges to tweet and how many days we intend to take this protest. For instance (8am to 12pm) then (3pm to 8pm). How long in days should we go? Its never going to be easy, we know but we will try.

Also, we will need to open a thread on nairaland to indicate DPR trending on the 2016 recruitment on twitter. We will hit from all angles.

Yes, they prefer the status quo, they are ready to laugh when it fails. Goodluck to them. I will gladly see it fail doing what is right to change things than do nothing on the words of epistle preaching prophets.

We move forward. May God be with our cause. Amen.

You are a doing a very great job! Now that deadline has passed without any information from DPR, it's time to agree on the day and time on when to start the Twitter post. "It's better to see we fail doing what is right to change things than do nothing on the words of epistle preaching prophets"

For unity sake it was agreed to wait till friday, but deep down inside everyone still hopeful on this recruitment and those who see it as done and dusted, we all know NOTHING WILL HAPPEN THIS WEEK. Its a circle, dejavu, repeating itself again and again. But we wait again and see. Let the miracle happen we hope so. grin grin

HASHTAG SUGGESTIONS
Kindly quote this and suggest more hashtags we will use to kickstart our protest. By tomorrow we should finalise on our hashtags.

1. #DPR2016recruitment
2. #AhmadShakurWhereIsYourIntegrity
3. #DPR!CommonNigeriansMatter
4. #AhmadShakurMustDoTheRightThing

6. #DPR2016recruitmentWhereIsTheOpenness
7. #DPR2016recruitmentWhereIsTheMerit
8. #AhmadShakurYouFailedTheCommonNigerians

Lets have more suggestions please. If you do not have a twitter account please open one and also we will need to ask friends to tweet on our final accepted hashtags.

What are you blabbing about sef? Is the protest giving you nightmares? So someone who has confirmed his/her name would now be gunning for protest or the other way round? Or what are you confusing yourself about?

Bro just relax, don't over work yourself over a harmless protest. Rest please.

You need not bother yourself over inconsequential statement. All is set for July protest except DPR do otherwise. Twitter is a goal!

First we need to come up with a catchy hashtag or hashtags that should contain DPR and AhmedShakur in them. Example of hashtags is like the recent one #AbbaKyarimustgo, #saynotocabal, etc.

Secondly, we identify some accounts we will tag for notification like @Mbuhari, etc.

How it works is that it involves a collective effort, it needs people tweeting about it. when tweets are made with the hashtag(s) and it trends that would bring the attention to the social media world. We will also need to make tweets of assistance for retweets to help it trend.

As you well know, as you are planning to make the move a success, the agents of distruption are also fighting tooth and nail to see that it doesn't trend. So it all boils down to the collective will of everybody involved in the cause.

@Goodlucknigeria, we can begin with the hashtag. Lets have suggestions.

Beautiful! It's time to suggest hashtags guys.

Thank you distinguished comrades that are aligning with the proposed Twitter protest. I repeat nothing must deter us! Please go ahead and create Twitter account for yourselves and encourage your friends and family members to do same. We will need a minimum of 100 Twitter handles to bombard them simultaneously. Data is cheap, at least being on nairaland simply means you can as afford it. Let's gather as many people as possible. Whether it's ending of the month or first week of July, we must get ready for a showdown with powers that be in this country. Enough is enough!Don't allow anybody to discourage you on this protest move.

People want to protest on just on the basis that they applied or just on emotions and nothing more no fact nor figure! and coupled with the fact that there have been a released list already where people have resumed already...

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Well... am not against it who knows it could be fruitful...

But it would have made a very big sense if we have a substantial and substantive proof to back up the protest...

All these ones guys are saying about 2012 DPR recruitment and Immigration in those cases no single list was released nor anyone called to resume...

But in this case list have been released people have being issued application letter and have resumed...

Don't you guys get it?

So the only justification for any meaningful protest now is a concrete evidence that the numbers haven't been filled or that federal character was damaged or something else...

See am a civil servant o presently infact am in HR so i sabi as e dey go...

all the best.

Thank you so much. I never expected everyone to be on same page with my suggestion. But the truth is, DPR will definitely say something about the recruitment. It's not a do or die affair to get this job but let the right thing be done first. I am equally a civil servant if you must know on level 09. But what about those that are hoping on this job, or didn't you apply to change job? Twitter it is!

No its not. Imagine the entitlement.

If you have job-hunted for some time in a way that you have sent out cv's and filled applications to different bodies, how many of them actually get back to you with regret mails?

Haven't you seen clauses in recruitment where they stated "ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED"? The DPR can simply say they contacted only the candidates best suited for the job and that will shoot down whatever protest you and your friends want to put out.

So please, you're NOT entitled to know the outcome of a body's own recruitment and neither is it your right.

You are very correct but it was equally on the portal that it will only be the means of communication to applicants. I'm pretty sure that using same portal to send regret mails isn't too difficult

you will get a simple response because they are true with their 2016 recruitment, and will notify the public as soon as another recruitment pops up,so which recruitment are you talking about?

No problem at least the simple response will come with a list of the new intakes. But we must engage them on Twitter copying @mbuhari handles and others

My dear it's a big fat lie. Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment in 2015 is a classical example of such. Majority of them were called back. Twitter it is!

If you have been quietly following this thread hoping for some positive news that has refused to come, it's time you leave your hiding places and fight for your right. It is better to try and nothing happens than to continue to wait till thy kingdom come. Twitter is the most available and free way of getting across to the government

Please let's wait till first/second week of July, many may doubt but trust me, something is about to happen. But note, you are responsible for your definition of MERIT.

Can you please stop fooling graduates the way you have been doing? Guys let's brace up ourselves to engage all government Twitter handles. If you don't have Twitteraccount, sign up now because it's free. If after tomorrow nothing happens, we will engage them massively on Twitter. This nonsense must stop! If just a 100 of us can engage government and other media handles on Twitter, see ehh, something definitely will be said about this recruitment. We have nothing to lose but they have their reputation to lose.

I will say this without prejudice that some people have been positioned on this thread to discourage whatever thing that will tarnished the reputation of DPR. So either we remain cowards and continue to lay low hoping God answers our prayers and touch the hearts of the management of DPR or we take the bull by the horns. We absolutely have nothing to lose at this point.

I remembered we almost embarked on a publication last year but "image makers" of DPR asked us to suspend it. What have we achieved since then?
