My mum used to have a jewelry business somewhere close to Balogun in Lagos. It's a business she was into for quite a while. Most of her neighbours are Igbo male traders with relatively few Yoruba women as well. Though she had good relationship with them because I used to visit her and I saw the camaraderie between her and the Igbo traders. In fact she would joke with me that one of them was her "husband". Usually she used to come home complaining how these Igbo traders used different tactics to price products in the market by deliberately driving down prices, and it's done in unison solely by Igbo traders. And in such situation, the Igbo traders dominate total sales in the market and when others can't cope they had no choice but give up their businesses. So, how do you expect people to feel in such situation? So, people often have fears and not hatred.
