radautoworks: 8 )"Further inspections reveals a disintegration of the catalytic converter. It's a good thing we caught it this early , would have been fatal to the engine"- a clogged catalytic converter will reduce power to an engine but will not destroy an engine
I beg to disagree.
A blocked catalytic converter will cause excessive blowback, which in turn will destroy valve stem seals and piston rings.
A disintegrating catalytic converter is worse, particles could get into the combustion chamber causing marks on the cylinder walls and valve area which in turn will cause low compression issues and misfires .
Googlemechanic: There's a known TSB on oil pressure related warnings on the 2007-2008 MDX.
HDS software version 2.020.018 (Dec. 2009, green) or later. Control module (CM) update: Database update 27-NOV-2009 or later would suffice in this case.
What would I do as a Google mechanic with scarce resources and a client ready to pay premium? Just walk into oyingbo spare parts market in yaba area and buy an Engine ECU already updated with the factory software, install reprogram and drive away without the issue. Might take 2/3 tries but it's easier than tearing apart an engine and replacing an oil pump that was working just fine.
Hope this helps.
Googlemechanic.
It takes 2mins to do a handshake of the engine ecu of an Acura or a Honda.
When I use the term 2/3 tries this is what I mean.
Go to an ecu sellers shop, request for more than one ecu , connect it (3mins or less) connect your scan tool, read ecu firmware (you do not need handshake to confirm that), confirm if it's the updated version. If it is, single try should solve the problem.
Where do used engine ECUs come from? 99per of used vehicle parts come from salvaged vehicles (accidented, flooded etc).
Current problem is common and has been solved on a lot of mdx's before they became salvaged (ecu upgrade) price of engine ecu is less than ₦40,000.
You do not have to pay for the engine ecu if it does not work.

TemmyDayo50: Good Morning to us all! Please I use an Honda accord 2007 with v6 engine. A spanner like indicator showed up on the dashboard with 15% oil life. I serviced the engine last just about 2 weeks ago and I'm sure I haven't even covered 100miles on it.
Could it be the indicator just needs a reset or the oil really needs to be changed again?
temi4fash: Hello House, I use the Honda 5W 30 for my car(Honda City 2007 and am at 2700 miles the oil is already very black, Does the colour of the oil affect the performance of the oil?
The engine oil is recommended to be used for up to 5000 miles?
radautoworks: Got a couple of quick questions for you "Googlemechanic" if you'll indulge me.
1) how come your moniker was registered in September 2019 right after a little fracas I, amdman and a certain someone had? 2) why do you have such an interest in amdman and myself. Seems to be only on our issues you post
Inside things
Focus on the issues and stop derailing .
Back to catalytic converters.
Another reason why the spacers are important is because in a lot of vehicles a lot of safety features are disabled when the check engine light comes on e.g anti skid .
Leaving the check engine light on in a lot of vehicles is not only irresponsible, but unsafe.
radautoworks: Catalytic converter and have you tried cleaning your throttle body? I do not recommend using a spacer because while it tricks the computer into turning off the light, over time the catalytic converter is still clogging up and the problem remains. Eventually you will lose power and fuel consumption will go up. Better to ride it like that without using the spacer IMO. It's a lot easier and cheaper to take the bulb out is the light of worrying you
Clearing out the contents of the catalytic converter and installing a spacer is a cheaper option .
Current cost of a brand new catalytic converter for this vehicle at current dollar rate will exceed ₦200,000.
talk2odim: In as much as your actions cannot be discounted as uninforming to prospective buyers, I fear that your intentions are more selfish and at best questionable. Your antecedents suggests and leave trails of a translucent sinister intention. A reason why you appear to hide under a different moniker. It is good to engage people, but it must be done with both clean hands and a clear mind. We should learn to be careful with setting dangerous precedents that can thwart what we are trying to achieve. "Each time we draw swords, we should not only consider what we are about to kill but also what we are allowing to live....."
I would advice amdman to be more intrusive with getting details (though past comments suggest proper preinspection before actual purchase) so as to avoid actions such as these that may be designed to put huge dents in the image he has been able to carve out for himself.

buygala: But you were pricing my own Honda Baby Boy which is far neater than this for 250k
I won't swear for you
This your car don go Sha ...
ABS module is missing,
It also doesn't have Cruise Control .the switch is obviously missing from factory
Vehicle is also manual winding of windows....
Vehicle has lost shape and was badly painted ....
Tyres are already almost bald....
Only God knows what else will be found missing or not working in the car upon inspection
Despite your being a very greedy and unfortunate human being, I will forgive you and risk 100k cash for this car......I want to use it as a scrap source for my own Honda Baby Boy ...
Since you think you are mad, make I show you say me sef na your comrade in madness
The information highlighted is incorrect .
Information from the vin reveals this Honda vehicle's trim is a Value Package Sedan without the option of antilock braking or cruise control.
kllinxman: This VIN has been tampered with a lot of irregularities, from the vin plate it looks like a south African plant but the 1st digits read Asia(Japan) which doesn't correspond to the 11 digit. Then the year the, 10th digits no car has '0' as the year. Year 2000 is Y while 2001 is 1.... Beware of this deal!!!!!!
This is incorrect.
The vin tag is valid and has not been tampered with.
Most Vehicle parts unavailable in the Nigerian market. Sensitive electrical parts also NOT available in Kia dealerships in nigeria. You will have to import almost every part you need if there is any form of hybrid failure.
Hybrid batteries usually last 6-10 years. We are in 2020 do the maths.
foolbuster: Lolz . Las las una go choke for amdman matter. Continue ooo na heart attack you go soon get.
Anyway you should know that the car would be inspected and every detail disclosed to the buyer before it'll be paid for. So thank you mr rust detector for detecting that the car is condemned by viewing only 2 pics of the car.
Please remember to use the same speed and energy to also commend the cars that are in excellent condition which are constantly advertised here. And are obviously ACCIDENT FREE
Codyella: I have done my review. Amdman, you can keep the money. I'm done going back and forth with you on this issue cos I have clearly stated my point. You ripped me off in this car purchase but I believe that karma is real. We all pay for our actions one way or the other. I have learned a big lesson from all this and life goes on. Like I said to those that contacted me, buy at your own risk but hopefully he might improve after all this. I've attached the picture of the filter. It is rusted not dirty.
Your engine oil filter was clearly not changed. Any vehicle owner knows what a 3day old oil filter looks like irrespective of the terrain.
Kokomo: So sad, such a promising business venture that could help People get tokunbo cars at compettive price, no one is perfect, I see this guy as someone who try as much as possibe to be honest and straight forward with his dealings and would rather make lose than tarnish his image.
I bought an accord from him last year the video he showed me was very clean, I was very excited, but when car land the car looked like normal naija used accord, dirty inside and some rust outside, I first weak, the thing even get some rust under am, the body wasn't perfect, some parts were broken in the interior , fuel cap door doesnt close, some dent on the body from port, the car was overheating when I was driving it home, Ac wasn't working
But when I reached out to him and explain things, he promised to assign a mechanic to help fix them at no cost to me.
But since I saw these as minor fixes, I just did them myself, I didn't wanted any mechanic touching the car, however to assist me, Amdman wrote off a 50k I was owing him as settlement for whatever I had spent.
One thing I am sure of is Amdman would not deliberately sell you a lemon and if there are fault that were not disclose he will work with you to get them resolved.
Madam and Jesterfly, I believe if you permit amdman to post the chat screenshot with him, we will all be able to deduce who is at fault clearly, and help you resolve this matter.
You miraculously edited your post about the Broken C.V axle? And car being towed to a workshop? bro code?
Well in your case the CV axle did not break because the vehicle was removed from the container. It is very common in rusted vehicles for the axles to break due to rust usually around rubber covering.
