Howdy Joe.
You, of course, are right. cool
There is nothing, repeat, nothing, that can turn a human corpse into notes!

MyJoe:

My real problem would be how they deal with the issue of serial numbers and how such notes fare well in circulation considering that the participants are said to acquire abundant mundane things bought with such money. I mean, you can buy oranges for N50 and no one would notice a problem with your money. But if you went into a car mart in our cash country and attempted to pay N8m for a car with non-CBN certified original money you'd be singing aleluyah in Alagbon Close before you can say "ritual".
Perhaps they use their powers to transfer real money from CBN coffers, or even from the Mint. Just speculating.
Religion / Re: The Essentials Of My Deism by Googler(m): 3:23pm On Mar 01, 2010
As debated in this thread, it is neither here nor there.
Religion / Re: The Essentials Of My Deism by Googler(m): 3:17pm On Mar 01, 2010
Here and there. Hardly come this way, really. How are you doing?
Religion / Re: The Essentials Of My Deism by Googler(m): 3:14pm On Mar 01, 2010
Great thread. I think what we are dealing with here is a definitional problem. If theism is the opposite of atheism, then theism will take in deists. They both affirm the existence of God, first and foremost. But when we consider all the definitions, deism becomes a distinct world view.

Cool, bro. You are wanted in the Mayumi thread. Things are a bit slow there.
Religion / Re: Former Nation Of Islam Follower Turns To Christ by Googler(m): 2:27pm On Feb 17, 2010
MyJoe:

This is nonsense.

To be sure, I consider many actions of the Israeli government to be repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience. But how can the actions of a government justify hatred for an entire race? The argument often used in support of this is that the Israeli people support their government. The vacuity of this argument is clear even before you start to analyse it. The ruling party in Israel was not necessarily elected by the majority. There are peace activists in Israel who campaign daily against Israel's settlement activities and other atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank as well as their land grab in East Jerusalem. There are political parties in Israel whose policies favour Palestinian demands. And "Jew" does not equal "Israeli".

Besides, I think speaking of Jews' animus against Muslims either shows poor comprehension of the Middle East or is a deliberate act of mendacity. I am not aware that Jews hate Moslems in Nigeria. There are issues of land in the Middle East, not necessarily religion. Israel's actions have affected Palestinian Christians and non-believers as much as Moslems. This last festivity season the Iranian FA emailed out New Year wishes to all its counterparts worldwide and someone "mistakenly" included the Israeli FA! The Israelis responded calmly, wishing the Iranians the same. But hell broke loose in the Iranian FA and people were fired. Whose is pathologically hating? What has football got to do with it? What we have is Moslem hatred for Jews not Jewish "pathological animus of Muslims irrespective of your race".

If there is an Iranian chatting on Nairaland and an Israeli logs on, I am sure the Iranian would log out immediately. There can be no justification for this sort of hatred of an entire race. Is it okay for me to hate Sudanese Arab Muslims because of the atrocities of the Sudanese government against my fellow blacks first in Southern Sudan and then in Darfur? When Muslims use "oppression" as justification for terrorism, they forget that black people have been the most put upon in recent history. Does that make it alright for us to hate whites and Arabs or seek to plant bombs in shopping malls?

Right.
Religion / Re: Reincarnation - Deepsight, Let's Talk Here by Googler(m): 12:09pm On Jan 25, 2010
viaro:
I don't know whether or not there is a reincarnation. What I could say is that there are many things happening in our world that we just have no clue about. Indeed, the Biblical worldview does not argue for reincarnation (as far as I can understand), but that does not mean therefore that everything begins and ends there. Why I say this is because i know from experience that certain things have happened where I have no bleep what to say - people have accurately said things out of the blue that point to events that they could not have had prior cognisance of: and when checked, it turned out they were actually true to 'T'.

In discourses like this, I think what jcross22 said rings with me:

Reasonable and incisive.
Food / Re: Does Anyone Know What Bush Meat ("Eran Gbe") Is Called In English? by Googler(m): 5:53pm On Jan 20, 2010
Bush meat refers to meat sourced from wild animals, as opposed to meat from farm animals such as chicken, pork, beef, mutton, etc. Bush meat is referred to by the name of the animal in question. So to get antelop meat, you ask for "antelop" or "antelop meat". Other common ones include grass-cutter, deer, wild hog, rabbit, porcupine, etc.

It's called bush meat.

@Airller

When Jeff said you were a tigress, my heart skipped a beat. Now you have come out with all your verbal fire, what can I say? Thank God your boss sent you on an errand, else I would have tasted pepper! You don't know how scared I am. Ejo, queen, !
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 6:18pm On Jan 19, 2010
I'm meeting you over there for the gist there, tomorrow, Jeff. Haven't been watching it regularly. Hope they have update there.
Religion / Re: The Beauty Of Simple Nudism by Googler(m): 6:16pm On Jan 19, 2010
Highly unlikely around here. It's not a lifestyle without its own problems. For one, there are far more tamas in your community. And some sound arguments can formulated against it both from religious and secular approaches. Then there are issues with the practice itself. There are strict rules in nude beaches and there are even bearing legislations. Around here you have absentee governments and things are generally not done right so you will have a lot of issues.
Religion / Re: A Treatise On Faith And The Word Of Faith by Googler(m): 6:07pm On Jan 19, 2010
Mavenb0x:

Hope alone can never bring your aspirations to pass, but hope will do these two (rather similar) things for you.
1. Hope helps you keep you head up
Rom 5:5a  And hope maketh not ashamed;
Rom 5:5a In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. . .
Rom 5:5a  Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us. . .

2. Hope is the steadfast anchor of your soul
Heb 6:19a  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast. . .
Heb 6:19a  [Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it--a hope]. . .
Heb 6:19  It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline. . .

Hope is good. These two verses mean that when you are hoping in God, you are not ashamed and you are stable. Your soul is anchored, so you are not wandering, you are not drifting from the assured promise. Hope helps keep your will, emotion and intellect together and at the same time it makes you have a right attitude (an attitude of not being ashamed while waiting for the fulfilment you desire).

I love this. Something rooted in will rather than passion. Something superior to positive thinking.
Religion / Re: Existence Of The Supernatural by Googler(m): 2:47pm On Jan 19, 2010
1. Self-conscious, self-contained (my favourite), self-existent, good.

2. The oneness of infinity. I like this one: God is one. God is infinite. I can't put it simpler!

3. The ultimate reality. Yes, the summit of existence.

4. Nothing you have not heard before: timeless, indescribable, uncreated, all knowing.

Yes, but it is not always desirable state of mind. Especially a foetus trapped in the belly of a madwoman such as me.
Religion / Re: Existence Of The Supernatural by Googler(m): 2:20pm On Jan 19, 2010
I am a foetus.

I would say I believe in the existence of God, but I am not sure what "God" means to you.

I define God as the subtle reality that is beyond definition.

toneyb:

I believe the OP was just asking a simple question which is if the so called "supernatural" entities like demons, angels, gods, satan etc were in existence how can they be objectively detected?  Is there any mechanism by which we can objectively measure the existence of such entities and conclude that the supernatural is real?

Baba Sikira the babalawo can help with instant, raw evidence. Just kidding.

If you mean objective in scientific terms, there are no mechanisms. That is why they are said to be supernatural. They cannot be proved materially although their manifestations can be felt in material world and these are then subject or amenable to different interpretations. There seems to be some agreement that you have to develop your perceptive powers, not intellectual but intuitive, to actually see things for yourself. It is said that people with highly developed spirits see things others can't. That is why people join esoteric schools of thought such as Rosicrucianism, esoteric Christianity (Christian mysticism), sufi (Islamic mysticism), Kaballah (Jewish mysticism), Vajrayana Buddhism, the Fourth Way, Eckancker, Grail Message, etc. There is no doubt that students of followers of these schools gain "experiences" which they believe to be genuine. But there are naysayers who dismiss such experiences as "self-hypnotism".

@ jeffoski

How are you doing?

Actually, I don't think the girl is an olodo, I think it is something else. And she is well within her bounds to express her opinions. She can also use pidgin and sms language in her posts if that is what she is comfortable with, but what is out of place is when she goes on to demand that others use it.

So Romina had a troubled childhood? I wonder how that will be used to justify the maximum pain she caused others. Initially scared Maria out of her wits.

Prinsesa ng Banyera at Ikeja? Jeez.

@ Ailler
I see you hate grammar, so I hope you will forgive me for using it. If you don't mind, I will like to ask (1) why you hate Elisa (2) why you love Gael.

About the naming in MyJoe's posts, let me inform you that he is a writer and if you read the newspapers you will find the standard practice of writing movie reviews is to state the names of the main characters.

@jeffoski
Yesterday's episode was indeed good. It will be interesting to see how Sergio will save Elisa from this one. I think we will see some madness from him today. I can't wait for him or anyone to punch that Himenez.
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 4:50pm On Nov 24, 2009
We will have to see. I know a good direcctor can make something even out of a Cain and Abel story. You can turn a common story into something good, all it takes is skills.
Thanks MyJoe. The show is still on. I suspect they will end it this week. Let's meet again sometime soon.

Thanks all.
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 4:38pm On Nov 24, 2009
Fish Port Princess is Filipino. Mexico and The Philippines and the two traditional homes of the telenovella.
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 4:19pm On Nov 24, 2009
Thanks MyJoe. You make your points very clear. Any further assessment, and how do you think it will end?
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 1:02pm On Nov 24, 2009
I have to agree with you. But you are forgetting Maria. I like Ignacio, too. He really makes me laugh. Imagine the way the conducted that "wedding". And what do you think of the likes of Daniel saying "Gina is wonderful woman" even though we all know Gina isn't a wonderful woman? And oh, I disagree with you on Sergio. Why would a man wait that long for a woman? And why do you fault Paula's position? Remember the lives of her parents are supposed to be in danger.
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 12:30pm On Nov 24, 2009
I agree on most points with you. Ofelia's madness works well with the storyline so far, but let's see what she will do next. I don't agree with you that only the villains are successful. There is Maria and there is Ignacio, well probably not a major character. You yourself have mentioned Sergio. And what's wrong with Hector?
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 11:56am On Nov 24, 2009
Yeah, let's look at that. They seem to complement very well. But yesterday you were saying only the villains are successful,
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 11:43am On Nov 24, 2009
Yes, I read those posts condemning Elisa. I think she deserves much of it.
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 11:28am On Nov 24, 2009
Thanks, Jeff. I am a script writer. MyJoe seems to love analysis and so do I.

@MyJoe
Howdy? You were condemning the story yesterday. Just before we get into this characterization business, in lsat night episode I really enjoyed that conversation between Sergio and Rodrigo. Real gentlemen. Similar thing happened in the Nigerian movie Letters to a Stranger. Watched it?
TV/Movies / Re: Until My Last Breath (Telenovela On AIT) by Googler(m): 6:04pm On Nov 23, 2009
Ok. I didn't read thread from the beginning. It's quite laborious reading unedited stuff. I guess people type in a hurry and dispense with punctuations in anonymous forums. But I know the story fairly well. Let's see tomorrow and let's begin by talking about the characters. I will be here late morning. Hope to catch you.
