Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has slammed the Good Governance Tour Team led by Minister of Information and Orientation, Mr. Labaran Maku, expected to visit the state next week, saying he was not prepared to spend the state’s limited resources to finance the tour.

He said that the Good Governance team had sent in a proposal , urging him to provide accommodation, feeding and logistics for over 120 delegates during the visit.

Lamenting what he described as the bogus proposal from the team, Oshiomhole said: “Whenever Edo State government officials travel to Abuja for official duties, the state takes responsibility and not the Federal Government.

“So, it is not proper to use Edo State tax payers’ money to finance a Federal Government programme. If they pay me a courtesy visit, I will receive them, but I don’t have a dime to spend on them because I do not need them to come to tell Edo people how I built roads and schools. My achievement speaks for me.”

Oshiomhole, who stated these at a seminar on Tax Laws in the state, organised by Edo State Board of Internal Revenue, in Benin, explained that he had opposed the proposal for state governments to sponsor the team, when the matter came up at the Governor’s Forum.

Politics / Re: APC: SW And North Ganging Up Against SS? by Gooogle(m): 8:57pm On Feb 18, 2013
FSU: APC: SW and North ganging up against SS?

SW and North ganged up against SE in the 60's. Now it's the turn of the SS to be ganged up against by these two groups

They find GEJ unsuitable and they also find Igbos in their APC party unsuitable.

They just want a SWner or a muslim northerner in charge.

Can the SS and SE learn a thing or two from this?

2015 will be a true test of who is more populated in the country, regardless of where indigenes of the different regions reside in within the country.

I smell a new strategy here, laptop 40 guys have devised a new one and its over everywhere on the internet. The strategy smells like "the-i-have-no-shoes" idea. Nigerians should vote on pity and let mediocrity stay or let them loot for another 4 years.

The strategy employs the idea that it is about SS and SE Vs the rest of the Nation or the Christians vs Muslims.
Its so unfortunate that people think through their anus rather than with brains and I can only but join Oby in her prayer that
this oil should please dry up or better still lets divide the country. There are several countries that dont have natural resources yet they are far better than
us, so what the heck about 'our oil', 'their oil'.

[Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw material from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example is Switzerland, which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate of the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products of the best quality. It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order & labor, which made it the world’s strong safe.]....

PointB:

Spot on op!

I think it's those who bury their head in sand that are going to pretend this is not the case.

It is very obvious that GEJ has outperformed Obj and Yar Adua in every respect. But tribalism and pure hatred for the 'shoeless fisherman' will never allow these folks to give him credit for any of his work. The proclaim hatred and bore ill towards him simply because they believe they are born to rule.

The other angle to it is SW looking for a route back to power after the disastrous years of Obj. Their calculation is to piggy-back as VP to Northern candidate (preferable and old man) who will be fairly too old to rule or die in power, so that they can have a president from SW. Desperate politicians from the North will stake everything for this. At the centre of the mad rush for power by element of the SW is the continuation of siphoning of Niger Delta oil; and unquenchable thirst for filthy wealth. It is a continuation of the Biafran war, that is why no one bother to mention the likes of Donald Duke or Akpabio as president, even as they have perform far better that some of the folks president beating their chests.

In any case, by 2015 when North and SW vote according to this yardsticks, Nigeria's division will ever be so obvious, and a schism will be easier. Ethnicity and religion will be the battle cry in 2015, no one should be fooled by the pretense at altruism.

Ok,let me consult the oracle

rhymz: Guy you are talking to yourself. I am also from Imo State and I understand that APGA is a very divided party caused by people with greed and self-serving plans even before the arrival of Rochas.
I like what Rochas has done and the way he spoke about the issue, he knows of course joining the merger was a neccessary evil that must be done especially when it is very clear that JEG has lost the support and goodwill of the generality of Nigerians and is so afraid of not getting the northern supoort than getting our support.
This is politics not some emotinal clap-trap about igbo-yoruba-hausa civil war rivalry. Many Igbos started PDP but where are they today? Abeg free Rochas jare. He is doing what needs to be done even when it makes him look odd.

Let me have your address, I need to send you one MOET.
Some of the igbo folks here are just too iliterate, always living in 1967 delusion.
We need to start drawing a line between the "igbo-igbos" and the "igbos-whatever".
Their bigotry stinks to the heavens, heavily deluded and pathologically selfish. Always about what is in for them

utumunta: Mark my words and come back to ds post after 2015 - Rochas just lost his re-election to Ihedioha if he toes ds path he is set on-.
I dnt have anything against Rochas bt i think he is an emergency politician and does nt undastand d problems of Ndigbo(just like orji kalu).
Peter Obi and Sullivan Chime are better positioned to emerge d new Igbo leaders(though d latter is media shy).
Leaders like Rochas and Kalu are always too much in a hurry to look ahead. They usually end up in a lurch wt their followers. He wants d V.P slot and is nt ready to think how dat will improve d lot of hs ppl.
Ndigbo fares better under a Jonathan Presidency dan they will under a Rochas' vice presidency(a 'spare tyre' office that will deny us of many things). For d 1st time since 1970, we are attaining political and economics heights of d pre-war period and many Igbos are aware of ds fact.

Aparently you need some more strategy session and training.

There is so much about trust and security issues in Nigeria which create some serious impediments for e Commerce.
By the way, what happened to gumtree.com.ng, the Nigerian version of gumtree. They didnt last up to a month.Any diea?

Again, any info on the operations of Jumia, dealdey and konga. Help us understand the sustainability of these business models in the Nigerian environment.
Anything about the financials for year 2011 or 2012?

I believe you really need to have a deep-pocket to succeed in the Nigerian business space.

Well, we're yet to see Jobberman to stay long. Charging people to apply for jobs is very fishy and i can't do it no matter what. But charging emploters to post jobs on the site is a fair play and most websites do it here in the western World.

Fallguy - you might want to check Craigslist Africa @ http://www.Craigslist.com.ng
Like i told you that businesses like craigslist in Africa countries would be a good business. I guess nairalist will be crying now? As you know people have different things they need to sell like cars and they need a one community they can do all in one place. This is why i see a potential in businesses like online services. Lets watch http://www.Craigslist.com.ng and see what they are capable of in Africa business market. I wish them best of luck

Nope, am not sure this is the real craiglist, whoever has this should be stopped. It would make more sense you use another name. Stuffs like these are reasons why they run from Nigeria. All other African countries are on craiglist, the real craiglist except Nigeria and we all know why. The same reason for which Google trader is failing.
