Jobs/VacanciesRe: NERC Recruitment: What's the update? by Gorimakpa(m): 10:58am On Jun 27, 2013
I just applied for the job, even though I believe it would end up like every other government job - with wuruwuru and all that. Guys please keep us updated about latest developments. Also let us know what we might need to do or who we have to know to get the job. Meanwhile, who has any idea how long the recruitment process would last? Hope it wouldnt take up to one year.

mitwitdot: The nature of the Nigeria labour market is such that no specific rule apply to job application. If for instance you graduate with a 3rd class but still have connections, you will be employed before someone with a 2.1 and even first class sometimes "nepotism is a norm here" and it iapplies to every sector from private to public. If you hoping to enter any organisation on merit then I will advise you never put your class of degree on your cv so you can be invited for interview and make sure your cv is very professional without typos or blunder. At the interview, you can prove to them that you will add more value to them than any other person. Lastly, some organisations don't discriminate on your class of degree, it's just about adding value and increasing thier worth- banks, insurance, customer care, manufacturing etc.Don't despair if you don't get invited just keep applying and get some certification relating to your field.

Wish you all the best
Very true. I've seen characters that graduated with PASS degrees employed in good parastatals and even in some private companies, while 2.1 graduates are left to roam the streets. No thanks to nepotism and corruption. It's sad, but that is the situation, and that shows that a 2.2 degree is more than good enough to land you most jobs, as long as you have connections.

In my experience, only very few conglomerates and multinational companies are very strict about their 2.1 requirement, where even with connection, you would need a 2.1 to work there, even if it is from any mushroom university whose 2.1 is worth a 3rd class in a good university. Companies like Price Water House Coopers, KPMG, Procter and Gamble, the top oil companies, etc. Apart from these, you can get a job anywhere else with a 2.2.

As for government jobs, you can get a job with something worse than pass gan. Just be connected, unfortunate but true. 2.2 is not as bad as the poster is making it seem.

uche001: AMEN! @ Lindiwey i love the spirit and am joining my faith with yours!
Faith is not enough in some things. From what I have learnt in this NSITF matter, it is strictly about whether you have oga @ the top pushing it for you or not. There is no hope for random employment based on merit or luck, even for only one slot out of thousands. It is even worst than a lottery because youu stand no random chance unless you already have someone pressing button for you. If that is the case, let us not insult God by claiming his spirit or favour in this criminal illegality called NSITF recruitment. The game is up. One day, people would pay the price for all this injustice. I am sure of that. Oluwa ko leku. He is omnipotent and immortal.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Favouritism And The Plight Of A Nigerian Unemployed: A Threat To Nations Buildin by Gorimakpa(m): 8:27am On Apr 11, 2013
Kechybee: MY RECENT EXPERIENCE WITH NSITF: I've followed NSITF's most recent recruitment which started in 2011. In april 2011 I made an application fee of N1000 into NSITF zenith bank account like every other applicant and as advertised by the management of NSITF. A confirmed code was printed immediately in the bank with which I proceeded to my house to use the internet and fill the online application. In July 2011, I wrote the aptitude test in Abuja, attended the interview in Sept 2011 in Abuja also. Much later in 2012, some pple were given employment letters but the names of succesful candidates were never published anywhere. I heard abt d appointment letters being released on nairaland and from a friend so I decided to go to NSITF hqtrs in Abuja to confirm. When I got there I was told openly that the letters were for those who had referals. I pressed further to check if I would see my name on d list. They told me again that if my name wasn't submitted by any godfather, then I was just wasting my time because d list isn't for d public. But dat if any godfather submitted my name, I shld either call him/her & collect my letter from him/her. But dat if d person hasn't received my letter then I shld wait behind. I felt like shooting everyone there cos it was so glaring that d exercise had become highly politicised. I was also told to bring a letter from any godfather if I could to speed up my recruitment and also join in d induction programme. I told myself, NIGERIA IS FINISHED. In Nov 2012, I attended a 2nd interview wit the same NSITF as part of d year long recruitment hoping things will get better and this will be an opportunity for those without godfathers. Just recently and in 2013 I heard about letters being released again hoping my letter wil be there. On March 24, 2013 I went to d same abj hqtrs, wit hop dat this was an opportunity for pple like us. Trust me, it was still d same godfather issue. Exactly what I was told in 2012 repeated itself again in 2013, which means no godfather no job. I was speechless. Pls how do we change dis wickedness in fed govt agencies/parastatals & even in d civil service. Most govt workers are dummies simply because d eligible ones are denied employment & all you see in govt offices are pple who can't write and speak, all they do is to carry files. God must surely intervene in dis country. We shld be given equal opportunity.
There are thousands of us that had the same experience. I'm glad someone else has repeated what I talked about earlier, so that it would not seem like I am a rabble-rouser. We need more people to speak up and expose the rot in NSITF, it was a very bitter experience I tell you.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Favouritism And The Plight Of A Nigerian Unemployed: A Threat To Nations Buildin by Gorimakpa(m): 10:47pm On Apr 10, 2013
Saecula: You have got no case. Most of you that claim of being denied admission never merited it ab initio. And the fact that you later graduated as one of the best doesn't prove that you were unjustly denied admission.
If you have nothing meaningful to contribute, why not hold your peace instead of saying what you know nothing about. Maybe you're one of these kids that attended these new private universities on a platter of gold. Anyone that is familiar with public universities knows the corruption and favouritism that goes with admission, right from Jamb racketeering to admission fixing, to VC list, Dean list, HOD list, and so on. If the official cut off mark is 200, and I score 240 through my own sweat and legitimate knowledge, yet so many other people scored 270 and above through Jamb rackets, while some others that scored less than 240 are admitted because they are on VC's list and so on, what then are you talking about? Even if a lecturer's child scores less than the cut off mark, he or she would still make it, at the expense of someone else that scored above the cut of mark. So what is your point? You are obviously a beneficiary of the corrupt system in this useless country. Better to keep shut than to say rubbish here. You don't know how pissed off one is at all these nonsense going on.

Also, if this happens in top foreign owned companies like Schlumberger and co, then you can imagine what happens in government agencies and local private companies. Funny enough, I don't have a problem with slight favoritism here and there. If someone is employed at my expense, then she should at be at least as qualified and competent as I am if not better. Let the connection or favour he has be the only edge or advantage. I wouldnt be too bitter about that.

Where it is very painful is where you would deny a 2.1 graduate of a good school like OAU employment, even where he performs excellently in the test and interview, and rather employ some barely literate fool with a pass or third class degree or diploma from one funny school in the hinterlands. More so when such a fool did not even have to write the aptitude test that I laboured hard to pass, but was smuggled in like a thief in the night after the rest of us have wasted time to prove our competence in the tests and interviews. I mean, that is daylight robbery. It is now so common in this messed up country Nigeria.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Favouritism And The Plight Of A Nigerian Unemployed: A Threat To Nations Buildin by Gorimakpa(m): 3:58pm On Apr 10, 2013
This is a problem that we have been facing for so long in Nigeria, and it is getting worse. Look at Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). Some of us applied, paid application fees, wrote the test, passed the test, attended the interview, and did well at the interview, but at the end of the day, the fools there only employed individuals that did not even apply at all, mot to talk of to write test or attend interview. Go to their headquarters in Abuja now, you would see blockheads gleefully collecting appointment letters to resume work while the qualified ones are left out. All these just because they were sponsored by politicians and top management staff of the NSITF. The whole thing is so unfair, and it makes me hate this useless country. No wonder nothing works in the country.

I remember how I battled for many years to gain admission to a university, even the year that I finally gained admission, I almost did not make it if not for a stroke of luck as the admission people told me to gerrout and go and write JAMB again. At the end of the day, I graduated as the 4th best student in my class of more than 60 students, and many of the fools that were admitted ahead of me dropped out before final year while others struggled to make third class and weak 2.2. I kept asking myself: is is fair that I would have remained at home while these blockheads would be in school, just because of corruption? Now the same thing is happening in the job market. Only a revolution would save this godforsaken country.
PhonesRe: MTN BIS Is Now Really Unlimited. by Gorimakpa(m): 3:12pm On Apr 09, 2013
Chikebrain: MTN is still unlimited it depends on how you see it. The new data cap is 3GB but if you get to exhaust it then subscribe for their 2HRS plan and viola you should be back online. its as easy as that.
Thanks
You people are not explaining fully. Does this mean that I would only be able to browse for the 2 hours, after which i would need to subscribe another 2H? Please explain.

When we tell you that MTN BIS is no more unlimited, you will say it is otherwise. Enjoy ur line.
If it is limited, what is the data limit? Does it mean that I have finished the data and if so, do i have to wait until the current subscription expires before subscribing for another one?

lolly pop: I don't think that info is correct! I spoke to one of d main pple involved in d whole process and was told d result will be out dis week or next week unfailingly. And dia is goin to be an interview where pple will be picked on merit and based on a quota system. D merit list is for pple dat get 70 and above and 80percent will be on merit and 20percent will be for d politicians.
I hope you are not a learner. Dont believe everything you're told, its not today that we started chasing these FG jobs, and NIMC cant be different. 95% would go to politicians and NIMC topshots candidates, while lucky quota system beneficiaries and lottery winners would share the remaining 5%. For your info, 0% goes to merit. I only hope to be a lottery winner sha.

I heard some people have already started collecting letters codedly, confirmed.

Dont bother to ask. They would not respond. They are governors and ministers candidates, so they dont respond to ordinary people like us. Since 2011, that is the same thing, plus and minus, substitute name and put name. Up Nepa, but no light, na because of them. Nigeria go better, for our dream.

SMH. We would wait for them to collect first because they are first class citizens while we are second class citizens. We are in hot soup in this country. Ordinary NSITF has all this overdo and powerplay, what of NNPC or CBN, Inland revenue and all the other prestigious ones? Why should anyone even bother to apply. Jus makes me too sad.

Oluwa is stronger than all of them sha.

Here we go again. Talking about sponsors and sponsoresses. If AP letter is ready, why not text or call successful people so that everyone knows his or her fate once and for all? This government work wahala has taught me a very bitter lesson about this country walahi.

Since Oluwa is my sponsor I have to find a way to get my letter from heaven, even if I have to die to get there, the problem is how do I get back to earth after collecting the letter?

This is probably the most authoritative and most credible information so far. Confidently stated with a fixed date that cannot be changed. I rebuke any physical or spiritual rat that wants to go and chew our cherished letters inside the cabinets where they are stored. Oluwa is involved.

Amen Joan: My dear, there were jobs. Trust me. I know 3 people with no connection who independently got the job.
What you think you know is not always the true reality. How can you know? That someone told you that they got the job without connections doesn't mean that it is true. Connections dont only have to be your uncle or aunty. For girls you know how far you people can go. As far as I know, if at all anyone can get jobs in NNPC of all places without connection, then it must be in one of the highly technical departments where they need highly brilliant and experienced people. maybe the petro engineering, geosciences, or high IT. If its any other thing, forget story. Not everybody would confess to you that they used connection or sold their bodies or paid bribe, everybody would be claiming na God. Ordinary ministry jobs and other dry federal government jobs do not leave chance for unconnected people to enter, talkless of the almighty NNPC where every government official and politician wants to squeeze their people inside.

adewasco2k: My conclusion! With just a 0.09% of been wrong: GLO blocked the blackberry.net APN on non-blackberry phones (my reason: the same APN works perfectly on blackberry devices but will not even connect on non-blackberry).
Secondly, after blocking it...there is still a slight loop hole somewhere, that's why some can connect at times (I browsed straight 3hours today on same APN on my computer, and couldn't connect back immediately I disconnected!). So guys let's get over it! ....guyz! Its officially over! No more upgrade (the upgrade was just to block the apn working on non-blackberry) so they have done it...if they are still working on it, then its to finally block the slim loop hole so u can't even get a chance to connect. Cheers guys
I HATE BAD NEWS!!!!

Btw, since airtel is the next bus stop, what is the difference between BSM and BCM, since one is 1,200 and the other is 1,300. Do they both work the same way like glo's somonth and comonth? N100 na big money to dash any yeye network.
