Thanks for your efforts big bros. Meanwhile, I also NEED a spell-checker app that works exactly like that of Microsoft Word. That is, real-time red-line underline for mis-spelt words. As one is typing, it automatically underlines wrong spellings, with a possible feature for alternative correct options. I haven't seen anything like that on Android yet, and it is annoying cos that's the kind of spell checker I need, not all these so called predictive text stuff.

Please HELP if you know what I mean. Thanks in anticipation.

Even if it means removing the name of Alhaji Aminu Wali's godson to put my own, it must happen o. Haba. I don siddon for bench too long. My turn don reach to enter field.

@ s3nn2x

I just snooped around your profile (forgive me, lol) and found out that you are, in fact, a MFA insider! Lucky you, man! Would you be kind enough to give us some insight into the remuneration for level 8 officers (I guess it is same as other ministries), bonuses, perks, and other side attractions that one might expect? Wouldn't be a bad idea to salivate a bit, even it means counting one's chickens before they hatch, lol. Thanks.

First Class or 2.1 doesn't matter at all. I know someone with a pass degree that was employed the last time (in 2012) in the Federal Ministry of Labour. Regardless of class of degree, it is always good to apply first and then later start trying your best to find favour or get lucky somehow.

s3nn2x:
Don't you know that your mentality is also a factor. I am not saying that people are not collecting employment letter through connection, but there are also people that are collecting employment letter who do not know anybody. You just need to change your mentality. It happens everwhere even in the US. If you go to the thread of MFA in 2012, there were lots of comments like yours and a lot of people were discouraged, but I know 2 people from that said thread who got the job without knowing anybody, I am sure you don't know the Chairman of FCSC.....anyway, goodluck with your job hunt. I hope you get something soon. All you need is faith sha. Since you don't have anybody, why can't you go to God?

My brother, it is not about my mentality o. God is the ultimate connection, and that is Who I am relying on. This issue of connection does not always mean it must be your uncle or family godfather. It could also be one influential person you did not know before, but met him or her and somehow they decide to help you. Bottom line is still the same thing. Dont let anybody deceive you, it is almost impossible to just sit in your house, write test, go for interview, and then receive call one day for you to come and collect letter for a federal govt job in this country. Unless you are from one of those small states like Jigawa or Kebbi or even Ebonyi where the issue of quota might help you when they are doing their balancing equation in federal character commission.

Most times someone somewhere must intervene on your behalf. It is not a small scramble o, I know what I am talking about. It could even he a stranger (sent by God). Some people have gotten these jobs by accidentally meeting one secretary or oga at the office gate or maybe in a church or anywhere, and begging for help. Fine they did not know anyone per se, but in the end it is still the same connection that got them the job. Anyhow it happens, it is still the same favour one is praying for. There is nothing like federal govt job o. Once you get that, you get peace of mind.

ejiykzazi2007: Nigeria neva bad like dat abeg, if pple collect letas evryday of d weak, unemployment no go dey lyk dis...
Well you can believe what you like, that doesn't change the reality. Different people with different connections collect appointment letters everyday in Abuja, that is the fact. I have not been lucky enough so far, but I have been on the hunt for govt job since 2010, and I know what my eyes have seen in that Abuja.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Federal Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Recruitment... by Gorimakpa(m): 2:42pm On Jul 13, 2014
MANGAM: A friend yesterday was called and given appointment letter. The guy read French and just completed his nysc wit the last batch that passed out. I know some wouldn't bliv me. I personally drove him there, waited for him in the car. He started his documentation yesterday afta collecting his letter and this is a guy that never apply for the job. This is the new nigeria we all find ourselves.

Only a naive person will doubt you. People collect appointment letters everyday of the week at the CSC opposite Customs Headquarters. Anytime I go to Abuja to pursue govt job, I go there, and I am always crying. This also happens in all the major parastatals and govt agencies. I believe you 100%. It is a matter of connection - who you know there in Abuja.

If there will be merit list, it will not be more than 5% of the total, and even that 5% is not sure sef.

"Mail delivery failed". Reason: mailbox quota exceeded.

These people sef. Most Nigerian companies' domain-based email hosts are a big joke. I don't know whether they allocate only 2mb of memory for email data. Even big companies like Femi Otedola's Forte Oil, the same thing. You'd send an email and it will bounce back undelivered.

It is not by force to use their own company domain for email. They should use good old free @yahoo or @gmail if they don't know what they're doing.

ejiykzazi2007: Amen bro... But y did u say its 'highly sought after'... Do dey hv larger benefits...

Ah, of course na. Although the basic salary is probably same with the other ministries, extra benefits like awoof allowances, estacodes, foreign trips, etc. yanfu yanfu for Foreign Affairs. Plus the sheer 'swag' of the job. Any girl wey hear say you dey work for the prestigious-sounding Ministry of Foreign Affairs go want to carry belle for you to marry you (to become future Ambassador wife). grin

Be it interview or test, d main thing is that they shouldn't politicize d selection.
Of course the selection would be politicised. Unless they bring angels from heaven to handle the process. Even recruitment/selection processes for less fancied government jobs are always politicised; not to talk of the prestigious and highly sought-after Foreign Affairs. Let's just hope to find favour somehow along the line.

I don't fancy the idea of all these quack and incompetent consultants handling recruitment for FG jobs. Sheer waste of time most of the time. See these ones, NBS Consulting, with their crappy website and poor back-end. They can't even spell "Announcements" on their own website.

I applied a few days ago and still haven't received a confirmatory email with my applicant id. How did they win the contract? Not that I even expect the process to be transparent.

Lol, Nairalanders and speculations. My guy u made laugh actually,.. Despite the Nigerian factor in our system of recruitment and so on, your submission can not be true. First, no matter how nerc wants to do magu magu, they must atleast seem to follow d procedure for fear of been criticised, FCC requirement that interview must be carried out, the suopervisory minstry is there to check their activities, not to talk of NASS can summon them on this, infact d CEO can enter problem if what u said happened, don't forget this recruitment adcvert is one of the higly publicised in recent time, what explanations would they give to thousand of applicants.
Apart from that, I have been following the issue closely, as u have dgm so do I, and just yesterday d executive chairman had a meeting with all d staff where the issue of recruitment came up and he told them, that restral is still in process of both recruitment and would likely submit d shortlist for d HQ vacancy by second week of october to d mgt for approval to call pple for test that's by that time also they might have concluded d assessment of the zonal recruitment.
Nobody is doubting that there would be serious Nigerian factor in the coming recruitement cos of the limited space and 2 many applicants but not to d extent of employing pple without following d due process, what u can tell me and I could agree is that they aready have people they wanna fill in the vacancy slots with, that's understandable, even at that they must mix it with some merit list, things are not done the way u enumerated in ur post my guy... So am with alfa-john on this, ur post is full of negativity and discouraging to people that have hopes no matter how little it is, pls desist from jumping to wrong conclusions and baseless post.

The problem with some of you is that you are too naive, or should I say unrealistically optimistic. If you think this job would follow due process at all, then you're on a very long thing.

naanamee:

Na so oo my bro, nobody is saying anything abt this year's recruitment, I reliably gathered that d recruitment process for June batch is going to be very competitive as there's only abt 72 vacancies and more than 60,000 applied, the requests from higly placed pple such as govs, other ministers, NASS Members has even surpassed d existing vacancies, and d commission is confused on how to proceed abt it with d high level of interest d advert has already generated and one of d commissioners said dey plan to close their eyes and just do it based on merit, so it ll be highly competitive. That's assuming if they haven't change their minds and decide to do man know man... Well, be it as it may, we should count on God's favor on this recruitment.

Superstory. Na today?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: NERC Recruitment: What's the update? by Gorimakpa(m): 6:21pm On Aug 13, 2013
Guys, I have been there and done that as a serial government job hunter. I am again in the hunt for this NERC, but I am not bothered by the useless aptitude test or whatever. I have done several tests and passed at least three (and even more interviews) for a number of Fed Govt jobs, only to later endure the humiliation and heartbreak of seeing olodos who did not even apply talk less of writing or even passing any test, get ALL the jobs through the back-door. They will tell you about their source and all that. These things kill one's spirit and makes you hate all the disgusting ceremony attached to these so-called tests and interviews.

Therefore, for those of you who can help, pls tell us WHO we need to go meet and beg or bribe or whatever it takes to get this job. Writing or passing the aptitude test is certainly NOT it. Tell us the koko we need to know. I beg.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: FAAN Recruitment!!! by Gorimakpa(m): 11:07am On Jun 27, 2013
Really tired of all these back-door recruitments. There's almost no chance of getting these jobs anymore if you dont have powerful connections. Even the ones that are advertised are out of bounds, talkless of the ones not advertised. NSITF, NIMC, FAAN, NERC, all of them and the others na the same. Shame. God help us.
