The people described in the above passage are instead the multitude who were gathered by the 144,000 from every tribe, every language, every race, and every nation on earth. All of them endured the great suffering that was afflicted upon them by God Himself. He cursed and scattered them to all the ends of the end— subjecting them to great suffering wherever they were sent to.

P.S. Nowhere in the above passage are you informed that the great multitude was in heaven in this chapter. Instead, verse 15 states that the multitude stood before the throne of God worshipping day and night in his temple. Well, the temple is down here on earth, and if they are to worship him here on earth, day and night, when exactly will they be in heaven?

So the 24 Elders, the 4 Creatures and the angels too are on earth before the Throne of God abi?
