Water baptism has become an accepted event by all Christian sects and groups. It is considered an ordinance of the church and one of the steps to salvation.

First of all, the word "baptist" in the original Greek rendition means "immerser" "dipper" or "plunger". From the name given to him you already see that John was not a water sprinkler but a water dipper, immerser, or plunger.


John carried out his ministry of baptizing people "in the Jordan river" as revealed in Matthew 3:6
And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
He did not sprinkle water on the people else there would be no need to take them into the river Jordan. We see this vividly expressed when John baptized Jesus in verse 16

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Notice that it is clearly spelled out that Jesus went "out of the water" indicative of the fact that He actually went "into the water". If John sprinkled water on Jesus then scriptures will not record that Jesus went in and out of the water as there would be no need to go into the water.

John clearly baptized Jesus in the Jordan river by immersing Him in the water and when Jesus came out of the water the heavens were opened.

For further analysis on this matter, let's look at the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. The Bible records in verse 36 that on getting to a body of water, the eunuch asked Philip "See, here is water; what hinders me from being baptized?" (Paraphrased).

Philip told him only if he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and after declaring his belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, the eunuch and Philip "went down both into the water" (Acts 8:38).

Philip conducted the baptism of the Ethiopian eunuch in the water not by sprinkling it on him. They would not go down into the water if sprinkling was all they would do. By standing by the bank of the water they could carry out sprinkling but since it was going to be an immersion which it was, they went into the water.

Water baptism according to the Bible is practically the immersion of people in water and not sprinkling. Sprinkling water over a person does not get him or her baptized. It is this activity that brought up the issue of Rebaptism.

For water baptism to be according to the pattern followed by Jesus, used by John the Baptist, and observed by the early church, it must be administered by complete immersion into a body of water.

It is unscriptural to claim that water baptism can be done by sprinkling water over a person – except we find scriptures that clearly show that sprinkling is the methodology for baptism.

Another salient point that validates that immersion is the right means of administering water baptism is one of the significances of water baptism.

Water baptism is significant for partaking in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The process of immersion in water identifies us with the death of Christ. When we come out of the water, it is a typology of the resurrection of Christ.

This is what Apostle Paul related to both the Romans and Colossians
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. – Romans 6:4

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. – Colossians 2:12
We are buried in Him and we rise in Him through the ordinance of water baptism. It is our means of partaking in the death and resurrection of Jesus and sprinkling water does not touch this very important significance.

The significance of water baptism can only be actualized by immersion, not sprinkling. As we have seen in scriptures: the ministry of John the Baptist, the pattern followed in the baptismal service of Jesus our pattern man, and the administration of water baptism in the early church, water baptism is carried out by immersion in water.

Until it can be scripturally-proven, sprinkling is not a way to carry out baptism and if you have been baptized by the sprinkling of water then you would need to undergo Rebaptism to be baptized according to Biblical standards.

The angels and elders only cried "holy, holy". This was their way of describing who God was.

It was deficient in meaning as they called God holy because they did not know who He was.

Holy in this context does not mean holiness. It means to be set apart, to be in one's class.

One of the goals behind the creation of man in Genesis 1 was to correct the issue of building a relationship with God.

So we see how that God would always come down in the cool of the day to fellowship and commune with the man He has created.

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. – Genesis 3:8

Even as the year 2021 is beginning, one of the matters we must concern ourselves with is building a personal relationship with God.

Before I share the ways we could build a relationship with God and maintain fellowship with the Father, I would like to answer an important question.

Yes, you can build a relationship with God. Both in the old and new testament, there are records of men who walked with God in fellowship.

During the introduction, I spoke about Enoch, Noah, and how God asked Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect.

It is very possible to have a relationship with God and yes you can have one.

The Bible says,

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. – 1 Corinthians 1:9

In 1 John 1, we see Apostle John explaining certain truths regarding fellowship particularly in verse 3

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

John shows us that they had fellowship with the Word of life and he invited every one of us to do the same.

If Enoch walked before God, if Noah did the same if God asked Abraham to do so, and seeing Apostle Paul's writing to the Corinthians and John's message in 1 John, fellowship with God is possible.

Apostle Paul further explains this concept of the flesh being contrary to the Spirit in Galatians 5:17

This powers and principalities that we wrestle against will overpower, conquer and subdue us except we turn our faces to God and engage the protocol of prayers. A prayerless Christian can not have power over devils and principalities.

God's commission to mankind of dominion and subduing the earth will never be articulated and expressed by a believer who does not pray. It is by prayer that we attract the requisite power needed for dominion over the earth.

If we will have dominion – trampling the devil and the earth underfoot – we must retract back to the place of prayer and begin to deal diligently in prayers to God.

For some believers, their immediate needs have been taken care of and because of that they do not see the need to pray. This is gross pride.

It is the view that prayers is solely meant for petitioning – asking for needs – that gives rise to this form of negligence to prayer. If prayer is about asking God for needs, when the needs are met why pray?

The inability to pray for long hours of time, for others, is the reason why they do not pray. Many want to be reckoned to be prayerful and they opt to pray for long hours of time hoping to get approvals and appraisals.

Due to the frailty of our humanity, they may be unable to reach their quota and being discouraged overtime they may lose interest in prayers unknowingly.

Busy schedules, academics, career, work, family upkeep and other activities are the reasons why some Christians don't pray. These set of Christians live extremely busy schedules and they have no time to engage prayers.

Excuse or no excuse, prayer is our lifestyle as believers and we all must be yielded to prayers. As oxygen is needed for the survival of humans, prayer is needed for our survival as spiritual beings.

Prayer is not meant to gratify your desires alone. The orientation that praying is all about asking God for your needs is wrong. The same way you have needs is the same way God has needs and He designed prayer as the medium for fulfilling those needs.

One of God's need is intimacy with us. God desires to be intimate with Him – To have us know Him more. Prayer is the channel with which God can achieve intimacy with us.

Prayer in the words of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening. In other words, it should be what we begin our day with and how we end our day.

You can suspend every other thing in your life but not prayer. When prayer stops, everything in your life is bound to stop working. You must not allow any excuse swing you into weakness in prayer.

The writer of Hebrews advised in Hebrews 12:12 "Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees". It was actually a call to prayers.

1. Cultivate the Habit of Dwelling in the Secret Place.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. – Psalms 91:1

In 2020, make dwelling in the secret place your habit. Dwelling in the secret place of prayer with God is truly powerful. Nothing is as important, necessary and vital as it is. Nothing carries so much benefit as it does.

The world is designed in a way that chunks up every available time we have to invest in the secret place of prayer. Our academic pursuit, careers, trying to make ends meet, and even our "religious" activities squeezes out the time and energy for the secret place of prayer.

The secret place is your point of privately meeting with God. It is a place where you commune and have fellowship with a God whose ears are open to hear from you.

It is a place where He lets us in on His plans and direction for our lives and gives us the modus operandi for going about it. It is the most important place to be in; not your church auditorium nor your classroom nor your workplace.




No matter how busy your schedule is or would be in 2020, do not relegate the secret place of prayer. Do not be so busy that you fail to engage in kingdom business by staying in the secret place.

This year, I ask that you firmly resolve to be a dweller of the secret place, cultivate the habit of dwelling there and watch lines fall into pleasant places for you.

2. Violently Command the Year.

This life will never give you what you desire. Never! The only time you can get what you desire in life is when you demand for it. What you do not demand from life will NEVER come to you.

Your desire alone will not give you the 2020 you want to have. You must demand for what you want to see in 2020. Demanders not desirers get what they want.




In Job 38:18, God was asking Job a question. He said;

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;




I came to understand from the scripture verse above that times and seasons can be commanded. You can command the year to produce exactly what you want to see. If you do not command it, the devil would give you what he wants to see.

Command is a weighty word. It is stronger than asking. It is an order backed up by a sense of authority and right. On the account of Jesus' death, it is our right to demand the good out of life but Satan would not let that happen hence the need to exercise our authority in Christ by commanding the things we want to see.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. – Matthew 11:12

If you have approached other years with gentility, this year you must change that tactic. Only those violent enough to command the year would get the desires of their heart.




The only means to get anything is to take it by force because life is not ready to give it to you. To this end, being gentle is unprofitable. Command the year! Make it work and produce for you.

How do you command the year?

You do not command the year by making claims and boasting here and there. To make a statement and issue a command in the spirit you must pray in the spirit.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Engage in violent and brutally-aggresive prayers to command the year 2020. Do not be weary. Pray ceaselessly.

3. Harness the power of God's Word.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. – Acts 20:32




The word of God is powerful. It is infallible. You can never go wrong when you are standing on God's word.

Like Apostle Paul in Acts 20:32, I commend you to God's word which is able to make your 2020 prosperous.

When Joshua took over the leadership of the children of Israel after Moses died, God began to speak to Joshua concerning his new role in Joshua chapter one. In verse 8 of Joshua chapter one, God gave an amazing strategy for enjoying prosperity.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

This strategy is summed up in studying, meditating on and obeying the word of God.

This year devote your time to the reading and studying of the word of God. Endeavour to look upon scriptures every single day of 2020.

The year 2019 is fast approaching its end. It seemed like
yesterday when there was great excitement and happiness
expressed in the "Happy New Year" wishes at the beginning of
the year.

Various resolutions were enacted and goals were earmarked.
Everyone looked forward to a year of accomplishment, bliss and
'highs'.

As the year ends, I bet you cannot remember your New Year
resolutions and the goals you were determined to accomplish
talk more of doing them. The only reason I can remember mine
is because I wrote them down but sincerely I never got to do a
large percentage of my resolutions neither did I achieve some of
my goals. Aside from the goals I set for January, 2019 I don't
think I have achieved much this year.

Just like me, I know you made provision for a list of to dos and
goals which if you would be frank with yourself have not been
actualized. And as 2019 draws to a close you're already
contemplating pushing these goals to the next year hoping that
you would receive a 'bed of roses' reception.
In your subconscious mind, you are shifting the failures of 2019
to 2020 with hopes that the new year would be better than this
one.

The form of preparation we all carryout falls within the scope of
making new resolutions, setting new goals or spilling over old
ones and then attaching our plans with determination and
hopes. The same determination and hopes we had when 2019
began that didn't bring us our desired result.

Year after year we do the same thing over and over again and
fail at it. We repeat a process every year and expect better or
different results – practically impossible. As writing new year
resolutions and setting new goals attached with determination
happens to be the only conventional means for preparing for a new year we subscribe to it year in year out despite its frailties.

It was in lieu of this backdrop that I sought for a different way
and approach. Sometime in October 2019, I stumbled on a
friend's post on Facebook and it formed the skeleton of the
insight I am about to share. I conducted a little Bible study which gave flesh to the skeleton forming the revelation I would share as you read through this piece.

To begin with, see what Job 38:12 says;

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know its
place;

Actually in Job 38, God was replying Job's questioning and
relating his ignorance to him. When I looked at that verse I saw

The year 2019 is fast approaching its end. It seemed like
yesterday when there was great excitement and happiness
expressed in the "Happy New Year" wishes at the beginning of
the year.

Various resolutions were enacted and goals were earmarked.
Everyone looked forward to a year of accomplishment, bliss and
'highs'.
As the year ends, I bet you cannot remember your New Year
resolutions and the goals you were determined to accomplish
talk more of doing them. The only reason I can remember mine
is because I wrote them down but sincerely I never got to do a
large percentage of my resolutions neither did I achieve some of
my goals.

Aside from the goals I set for January, 2019 I don't
think I have achieved much this year.
Just like me, I know you made provision for a list of to dos and
goals which if you would be frank with yourself have not been
actualized. And as 2019 draws to a close you're already
contemplating pushing these goals to the next year hoping that
you would receive a 'bed of roses' reception.

In your subconscious mind, you are shifting the failures of 2019
to 2020 with hopes that the new year would be better than this
one.

The form of preparation we all carryout falls within the scope of
making new resolutions, setting new goals or spilling over old
ones and then attaching our plans with determination and
hopes. The same determination and hopes we had when 2019
began that didn't bring us our desired result.

Year after year we do the same thing over and over again and
fail at it. We repeat a process every year and expect better or
different results – practically impossible. As writing new year
resolutions and setting new goals attached with determination
happens to be the only conventional means for preparing for a
new year we subscribe to it year in year out despite its frailties.

It was in lieu of this backdrop that I sought for a different way
and approach. Sometime in October 2019, I stumbled on a
friend's post on Facebook and it formed the skeleton of the
insight I am about to share. I conducted a little Bible study which
gave flesh to the skeleton forming the revelation I would share
as you read through this piece.

To begin with, see what Job 38:12 says;

Hast thou commanded the morning
since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know its
place;

Actually in Job 38, God was replying Job's questioning and
relating his ignorance to him. When I looked at that verse I saw
that timings, seasons, and dispensations can be commanded.

"Zacchaeus, a sinner, a tax collector and a man deemed unfit for the master by the society came into an encounter with Jesus HAVING GONE BEYOND HIMSELF AND HIS STRENGTH AS A MAN" – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

Many men and women have recorded notable changes in their lives and destinies by virtue of their encounters with God.

In Biblical times, men like Abraham, Jacob (Israel), Samuel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul and so many others were introduced into realms unknown by mortals by the virtue of their encounters with God.

Any man or woman who is void of an encounter with God would amount to nothing but a weak, beggarly, suppressed and subjugated individual. The lives of men are shaped by the nature of the encounters they come in to.

Article's Focus;

The focus of this article is to give insight on the need for an encounter with God and the price to pay for such encounter. Our discussion would majorly be based on Bible character, Zacchaeus as I try to explain certain concepts....

Let me tell you a short story....

Jesus in Luke 19 entered the city of Jericho and in that city there was a man identified as Zacchaeus, a rich tax collector.

Zacchaeus according to Luke 19:3 sought to see Jesus but due to the insufficiency of his height (He wasn't a tall man) he was unable to see Jesus.

The first thing I would like to point out on the journey to securing an encounter with God is that it does not happen easily. It can be an uphill task but it bears with it more benefit than any other task on the earth.

Encountering divinity does not come by chance. It takes a well-worked approach to encounter God. Why??

Because nothing glorious is left open. Before you get access to any precious mineral resource lying in the earth you must dig into great depths. Gold, diamond, silver e.t.c are not found on the surface of the earth.

Your brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys are not placed on your body like your fingers but are securely hidden in the body.

God is glorious. Scriptures refers to Him as one who shrouds Himself with great light. God would not reveal Himself to just anyone.

For God to show Himself to a person, a price must be paid and the price which must be paid is what I would show you in this piece very soon.
God finds pleasure in concealing things and Himself.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing but the honour of kings is to search out a matter" – Proverbs 25:2

God wants you to diligently search all He has hidden and until you have done that sufficiently enough, God would not reveal Himself or that which you seek to you.

So, Zacchaeus unable to see Jesus because he was short decided to climb up a sycamore tree and as Jesus passed by, He called out to Zacchaeus who was up the sycamore tree to come down for He was going to stay in his place (Luke 19:4-5)

One question prevalent among youths is often when and what time is right for dating?

So much uncertainty shrouds the question of what time is right to date!
Many have held on to the belief that age is largely a determining factor in deciding if one is ready for dating.
It would interest you to know that dating is not tied to age.

Yes!

Although age is actually a determining factor but when you read through these three (3) litmus tests if you're ready to date you would see how irrelevant age can be in determining if you're ready for dating.

The first litmus test to pass if you're ready to date is to be ready for marriage.
Dating is a system which involves a form of romantic courtship typically between two individuals to determine the suitability of a member of the opposite sex for MARRIAGE.

Hope you see my emphasis?

The goal of dating is primarily to check if someone is suitable for you to get married to. Since dating is a system to check a person's suitability for marriage, why date when you're not ready to get married?
The world's definition of dating would not support this view but then we are not to be conformed to the system of the world.

To know if you're ready to date, you should pass the marriage readiness test.
Whether you like it or not, the quest to satisfy our emotions drives us into things we are not ready for.
If you're unable to control the forces which influence your emotions then you're not ready to date.

If you can't decide by yourself the direction your emotions should tilt to then forget about dating just yet.

Not being able to control and govern your emotions would seriously affect your dating life.
A female friend of mine was telling me about how she wants to leave a relationship because the guy does not show any form of emotional control.

It can be bad and frustrating both for you and the person you're in a relationship with.
You're ready to date to the extent that you exhibit control and not just control, complete control over your emotions.
When you regard dating as a means of satisfying your emotions then you're not ready. Wait a little while.

The final litmus test I would be sharing today is financial Independence.
Before you make a move to date be sure that you are independent financially. You must be buoyant enough to take good care of yourself and your partner.

This point is relative to guys but ladies are not left out. Be sure that you can afford to cater for your needs and the needs of your partner before you can claim to be ready to date.
Have a steady and a reliable income source. Be stable financially.

Let your income be such that it can help you foot your bills and foot the bills of your partner when the need arises.
Until you're financially independent don't bother venturing into dating it is a quest in futility.

Conclusively,
The points which are outlined must be followed sequentially.
The first test which must be passed is the marriage readiness test.

After the first test is passed, the second test which is complete control over your emotions must be passed before you proceed to the test on financial Independence.

No test must be missed. They must be followed accordingly.
From litmus test one (1) to three (3) all must be passed, none must be skipped.
Only then can you claim to be ready to date.

Before Jeremiah was formed in his mother's womb God told him that He already knew Jeremiah.

Even if you are a product of a rape case or an unwanted pregnancy because God allowed you to come to the Earth, He already had a detailed plan for your life; purpose.

Don't believe the lie of the devil that you're a mistake. No one is born a mistake. A mistake may have produced you but your conception wasn't a mistake. God saw it coming and He allowed it.

As long as you on Earth reading this then be rest assured that God has a plan and purpose for you. It is your duty to decipher what it is. It is your sole responsibility to find out what was God's intent for creating you.

The pressure of getting married which is mounted on singles who are ripe and ready for marriages can be alarmingly outrageous and ridiculous.

The society mounts pressure. Parents mounts pressure on their children who they deem have exceeded the waiting period.
Peers also mount pressure. When young singles sees all their friends getting married they begin to come under pressure to follow suit.

Age equally mounts pressure. A young nan or woman who is in his/her late 20's may start to come under unnecessary pressure of getting married if no serious relationship is feasible.

The pressure of getting married truly can be overwhelming. It constitutes a major cause of so many failed marriages.

Succumbing to the pressure of getting married leads to;

◼ An Unhappy Married Life.

Nothing can be as disastrous as having to stay married without being happy.
Having an unhappy married life is the last thing anyone would wish in life.

◼ Desiring The "Good" Single Days

One of the dangers of succumbing to the pressure of getting married is that you may you end up with the wrong partner and since marriage is forever you are only permitted to endure thus forcing you to begin to desire the days when you were not married.

Making wrong choices in marriage would definitely lead to regrets.

Believers get very excited at the declarations of prophecy and prophetic words. In Nigeria, for example, the most thriving of the five-fold ministry is the prophetic.

Prophetic ministries daily amass a great multitude of people because both believers and nonbelievers alike love prophesying. We want to be told we'd make it, we want to be told who is responsible for our predicament, we want to know if the future would be brighter and so on.

But I noticed a deficiency and an error as regards prophecy. As much as prophecy is sought for there is a little knowledge of what prophecy really is about both by believers and those working in the prophetic.

Why has the prophecies of that man of God that came to your church for revival not materialized years after?

The prophecy you received that God will change your story in two (2) months has not come to pass and it's being five (5) years since the prophecy was spoken. What went wrong?

Benevolence has always being the watchword of Apostle Johnson Suleiman the founder of Omega Fire Ministry with headquarters at Auchi, Edo State.

The man of God's benevolence was on display again today, Sunday the 20th of January, 2018 as he dished out cash gifts to the tune of 6.5 Million naira to the unemployed members of his church.

Together with his wife, Dr Lizzy Suleiman, Apostle Johnson Suleiman handed envelope parcels of cash after calling out the unemployed during Sunday Service in church today.

Goodness, benevolence, kindness, generosity, and goodwill have not departed from the church. It is so unfortunate that the media would not take note of this kind gesture by God's servant.

The performance of corporate prayers bears with it immense benefits. Corporate prayers is about two or more persons coming together to offer prayers.

Corporate prayers come in the form of persons praying together as prayer partners to prayers offered during church meetings to prayer ministries and so on.

Personally, one of the benefits I have gotten from corporate prayers is the drive to carryout personal prayers. Corporate prayers spurs me into personal prayers. It creates the needed revival when I notice a decline in my fervour in personal prayers.

Anytime I notice weakness in my personal prayer life one of the corrective measures I implement is to engage in corporate prayers and BOOM I find my steady pedestal mounting up in the place of personal prayers.

Another benefit which can be procured from corporate prayers is the transferring and receiving of grace.

Whenever corporate prayers are offered there is an atmosphere like a chemical reaction which allows the spirit of everyone involved to achieve permeability such that grace can be transferred and received.

From the place of corporate prayers you can receive the grace resident in another person's life as long as the prayers are offered in one accord, with one voice, and in unity.

Diverse encounters and strength is released when we come together to pray. Corporate prayers create a system for obtaining strength and fostering spiritual stabilty.

"Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." – Proverbs 27:17 [KJV]

When we come together to pray, the weak among us receives strength, the one who was on the verge of backsliding is stayed from doing so and we grow in faith.

Without doubt, corporate prayers bears great benefits.
As beneficial and wonderful as corporate prayers can be, it does not substitute the need for personal prayers.

There are certain instructions, commands, and information that God would give you only when you are alone with Him.
God does not release classified information in just any location. There are certain things He would never say to you when you are in a crowd.

To get the perspective of God for your life you would have to seek His face alone. You must know the place of prayer for yourself.
Do not get me wrong. God speaks even in corporate prayers. He just would not always speak to you when you are in a crowd.

One of the problems believers face is that of praying alone. Praying in a group can be sweet whereas praying alone can be the opposite but nevertheless praying alone is of more importance than praying corporately.

The fire you capture from corporate prayers can only be maintained and kept alive through the performance of personal prayers.
