Yesterday at the office, I got a call from my brother that my 3 weeks old nephew (whom I've never met) went to bed as usual and never woke up.




In a trance, I went straight to the airport and got on the last flight back home. My family is completely shattered and broken...




I've always wondered how people get the energy to talk about their grief online.

I would say that if I lost a loved one , tweeting about it would be the last thing on my mind.




But I'm just here to talk about one aspect of the tragedy yesterday because yes, I'm enraged. Yes, I want the world to hear of this wickedness.



After my beautiful nephew was pronounced dead at the hospital, my sister and brother-in-law took him and ran to their church in desperation.

All they wanted to do was lay him at the altar and pray to God. Cry out for our baby.




The pastors at Salvation Ministries, GRA, Port Harcourt stopped them from entering the church.




They started asking them questions like: " Where you married here?" "Did the baby get baptized here?" Etc.




My family, along with neigbour and friends, were pleading...




With these people to just open the doors or pray for them.




A particular pastor said to my mum: "How can you go to Zenith bank and ask for First bank account?" As though God is a transactional service that only deals with his own customers.

They refused to open the doors, pray for my devastated family or even show the tiniest compassion.




Instead they sent them away because they couldn't prove they were members of the church.

My family and I are together now. We've sent our angel to God and we are trying to process all that happen.




I just wanted to say this because we've really forgotten the true meaning of Christianity. It's not about denominations or what church you go to or judging people

Miss Bolufemi Princess Motunrayo from Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State and a graduate of Banking and Finance, Prince Abubakar Audu University formally called Kogi State University currently a Batch C Youth Corps Member serving in Girls Secondary School, Ibagwa-Aka, Igbo-Eze South LGA, yesterday 10th of January, 2020 committed suicide with two bottles of snippers.

In a short note she pen � down before committing suicide, she said

"I did this because I see nothing worth living for in this world".

Today, my concern is to encourage every hardworking person that, what you need most is to do the right things and get the right results.

Though you may not get to achieve that goal sometimes, but do well to stay on and get back to work.

Your biggest concern should be to prove yourself right; that you made the right choice and you are on the right track.

There's really no need trying to prove people who mock you or doubt your ability, wrong. We have after all, seen God raise men that were mocked by people.


Those men only had to believe in God, themselves and their dreams, and push as hard as was required.

Most of us have brought undue pressure on ourselves simply because we are putting precious energy into trying to prove people wrong: they said you can't do it, and you think otherwise, so you take it upon yourself to show them you can.


Please if you fall into this category, you will struggle alot and end up being mentally drained. You are not in it for anybody but yourself. Whether you fail or succeed, is up to you.

The most important thing is, proving yourself right; whether in your career choice or any other venture of interest.

If you find out that you are in the wrong direction, decisively make a turn back to the right direction, without feeling like you owe anybody an explanation.

While we were setting up for our Gospel Gang Carnival in December, someone said "we need do like this because you know say after Carnival people go dey run their mouth".

I didn't hesitate in correcting him on the spot. You see, I have thrived in Port Harcourt because I pay more attention to my results, than I do to people's reviews.

If I must listen to people, I pick the critics who have achieved in their own feats, and not those who only know how to talk.

I want to say to you, if you will ever succeed in this city, your focus must shift from doing things to please people and get their good credits, to doing things right and achieving success.

You are not in competition with anybody. But if you have placed yourself in a competition, you must be ready to stretch yourself (possibly) beyond limits, to win in that competition.

Let me ask you, how far can you stretch?

Furthermore, I remind myself everyday that am not in competition with anybody; I am on my space and I wake up to work everyday, I am my own competition.

Also, I better my yesterday. I am like my church (HOTR). Our pastors just focus on what should be done and are not concerned about what the next church is doing.




Please, you don't need any body's validation. Some of those people you are struggling to please or prove wrong, are very broke and lack sense of direction.

Look well and think how much they have achieved. Please set your goals and go forward with them.

It's about you and not them. They feign ignorance of your successes and pretend to not be online, but will stand up and start screaming "shebi I talk am", when you fail. Don't rush.

Just take your time and be you. Ascertain that you are doing the right thing, at the right time, and in the right place.

Even though you get it wrong, start again. I have discovered something in this city I live: everybody is a talker, yet very few have results to show.

Rather than proving anybody wrong, strive to prove yourself right.
