Gptech tell me what I don't know
Naso e b oooo. I have a Xiaomi Mi 10 here. The display is far superior to your average Redmi note 15 series. It's same with Samsung, when you put any A series side by side with even an old s20, you just cannot unsee the difference. Amoled like LCD is just the display technology, there are other factors that affect how good a phone's display will turn out to be.

That's very affordable compared with the nonsensical Samsung S series
The screen of the S series are expensive because they are not essentially thesame as those in Redmis even though they are both Amoled displays. I know Samsung charges more than others but all Amoled displays are not the same. Even the screen on Xiaomi series are far more expensive than those on Redmi series.

I changed my Xiaomi 13 screen in March and have been unable to use my on-screen fingerprint.

It says "Couldn't add fingerprint, try again" when I try to add my fingerprint in the settings.

I have tried to calibrate it via the CIT menu in settings. It gives a "PERFORMANCE CHART ERROR" in the 2nd step (BLACK FLAT). I have tried everything I know to pass this step, including reinstalling HyperOS and wiping my phone. Still, nothing.
I've attached two of the three errors it's shown me.

If there's anyone in Lagos that can fix this, I am willing to come there.
I think the issue is with the screen, in some, fingerprint won't even work if you use a screen protector. If you have a screen protector on, remove it and try.

It was a huge price. Something left my pocket just like that
How much? Though it looks like original, know it's not as rugged, so treat it like uncooked egg.

Watch out when the Poco X8 pro max goes on sale here or contact any of our vendors if they have it. Battery life is the highlight of that device.

Hello all. I need your help, pls. I just got a Redmi Note 14, I'm enjoying everything about the phone except one thing - the glossy screen which I find reflecting and glaring. I've removed the auto brightness, set it at the barest minimum, applied dark mode, reading mode, put "privacy" tempered glass protector, but still... Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Are you sure you took off the transparent peel before placing a screen protector on the phone?

My mum travelled back to Lagos yesterday to return both phones. The seller refused to refund her, and after many back and forth, he gave her new ones (He replaced only the phone, like, he took new phones from other cartons and gave it to her shocked)

She mentioned a whole lot of resellers from different states are at the store to buy Redmi phones for selling, and they all gathered together to convince her nothing's wrong with the phones and I don't know what I'm saying. In fact, the seller called me, and after re-explaining the same message I've sent him on WhatsApp (which he ignored), he told me I'm saying nonsense grin.

The 2 new phones have the exact same issues as the previous ones. The bootloader of both is unlocked, which shows they are both compromised.

The guy decided to install and activate WhatsApp on one of the 2 new phones to show my mum it works, but I know he probably just applied a patch to trick WhatsApp, and the app will stop working in a few weeks after a few playstore/WhatsApp/Redmi OS updates.

Well, I'm planning to create a new thread to alert people to this fake Redmi phones in circulation. I also intend to write a mail to FCCPC, SON and Redmi alerting them to the issue of compromised phones being sold by these sellers.

Hopefully, the agencies I will write to will act.
As suggested, screenshot the about section of the phone let's see the rom version and kernel. I don't think the phones are fake otherwise they won't run on HyperOs, I think they are mostly used Chinese version phones.

Yes, they repackaged them and sealed them.

The thing is we're based in Ondo state, so going with her doesn't seem feasible, but we'll see.
The one whose back cover has been changed, it's very likely the screen has been changed also. Don't go easy with sellers like this, they know exactly what they are doing.
PhonesRe: The Xiaomi Thread. by Gptech(m): 9:26am On Apr 15
Ayemileto:
15C.

Both phones were actually sealed.

The first red flag was that both contained completely different items when the 2 boxes were opened.

The charger was different (One came with the redmi 33W charger, the other came with a generic charger).

One has a pouch, the other doesn't.

One has the protective film that's usually on the screen of new phones, but doesn't have the nylon new phones are placed inside, The other have the nylon, but without the protective film.

One came with a low battery.

Then, the IMEI on one is completely different from the IMEI on the carton.

This was what prompted me to even check the battery cycle, only to see one was already at 69 cycles and the other is still on 1.

But despite all the above, we would have still kept both phones since my siblings need to return to school.

But then, one of them installed WhatsApp, and it wouldn't activate, so she brought it to me, and that's what led me into the rabbit hole of the software side.

I also reached out to Xiaomi support this morning, they asked me to return both phones. One is a Philippines version, and it was activated November last year. The other is a Nigerian version, it was activated August last year and should be color black (the colour we got was green, which shows it has been used, and repaired before being repackaged as new).

My mum is now having to plan an unnecessary trip to Lagos because of the phones. A part of me feel like reporting the seller to FCCPC, SON and even the police because what they did is basically fraud, but that might seem like I'm unnecessarily escalating the issue when the seller haven't gotten the opportunity to correct the situation.
I am just short of words at the extent some people will go to make money. Try and inform the seller you are returning both phones and he should be responsible for your tfare. If need be the police should get involved.
You have done well in doing your own findings, people who are ignorant and fall victim to scams like this will end up blaming the company for their predicament. Funny thing is, we have been on matters like this over here, examining how extremely difficult it is getting to get original standard items here in Nigeria, smh.

Ayemileto:
My mum got 2 Redmi Phones yesterday (while on a trip to Lagos).

WhatsApp wouldn't activate on both devices, so I did some Googling and checks and finally tracked the issue down to unlocked Bootloaders.

The bootloader of both devices is unlocked, so play protect can't certify the device, and apps that requires high level security won't work.

Even the device settings can't access Xiaomi servers to check for update (which is a huge red flag).

I've told my mum she'll have to return the phones, but the question is why will sellers be selling altered phones as brand new? and is there anyway to verify a phone's genuine before opening up the carton?
To avoid issues like this ensure the phone you are buying comes sealed. For the bootloader to be unlocked it's very likely that the phones are not Global version models. Seller may have unlocked the bootloader to flash global rom. What exact model did she buy?

My birthday was on April 7 and I got it as a gift. Left it to my 17year old niece to setup and the needful because she wants my old S10e and came back to this. We've tried everything except take it to engineers and I don't want anything to void the warrantee. I'm not that tech savvy. I'm into transport.
It means your son during this time registered Xiaomi mi account for you during the setup up and also did a factory reset in the end. That's a weird thing to do. Did you get the phone new or used? If what I narrated is what really happened, then your son has the solution to the problem. Tell him to use another phone's browser to go to i.mi.com, then click sign in with xiaomi account, then click forgot password, and lastly enter the email address or phone number he used to register for the account. From there he can reset the password for you to login to your phone.

This is a night shot I took in ikorodu even without the flash light on
The flash on your phone is meant to snap objects close to you in dark or poorly lit environment. When the distance becomes too far, your flash becomes irrelevant or even make the picture quality poorer. Flashes are not meant to be used for shots like this.

If you are an average normie, by all means go for Xiaomi. Xiaomi limits people from tinkering with their devices, certain things you cannot do on Xiaomi without getting your device turned to toast.

15c is just not good
It's a very good entry level phone. What do you expect from an approximately $100 phone? The least Xiaomi phone even as at 2017 sold for around $90, that was the Redmi 4a. Leave the 'a and c' series for our grandmas. You should only consider them if you are really really tight on budget.

Any idea please?
The size of generator you need does not depend on the size of your house, it depends on the load to be powered. It's better you state the power of those your non inverter ACs. Even if you finally get a gen to power them, it's advisable to turn them on one at a time, maybe you give an interval of like 3 minutes in between.
