This is just a question. Western Sahara has grievances against Morocco- whether legitimate or otherwise. Palestine has grievances against Israel-whether legitimate or otherwise. Biafra has grievances against Nigeria -whether legitimate or otherwise. Buhari has thrown the weight of the Federal Government of Nigeria behind the first 2 agitations., and has ignored the problem he has in his own backyard. Biafra/IPOB is a national security threat that could be exploited by any power that wants to destabilize Nigeria. So 2 questions arise: Why would Buhari fight injustice in Morocco, and Israel by supporting the self determination struggles for Western Sahara and Palestine but not support the same for Biafra as it fights the purpoted injustices in Nigeria? Why is Biafra/IPOB not seen as a national security threat and addressed properly rather than as a fight between PMB and Nnamdi Kanu. These are issues that require a complex arguments. If you have to resort to ethnic banter, you've already lost the argument. |
It is quite unfortunate that a medium such as Nairaland which is a formidable tool to foster national unity is instead dedicated to fostering enmity between Nigerians. At this critical juncture in our nation's history, we need forces that unite and not those that divide us. Anyone who is a regular visitor to Nairaland pages can attest tot he quality of the IVY (Igbo Vs Yoruba) education, that impressionable minds can acquire on its pages. Everyone of us has a family member or relative who is married from someone of a different ethnic group. Why is Nairaland dedicated to fostering and promoting tribalism No doubt, it (promoting tribalism) is a business model as analytics demonstrates that it generates the most traffic/pay to Nairaland owners/operators. In that respect, is Nairaland any better than Nigerian politicians who use us against each other for their own profit? Attn: Moderators This is a free speech medium. Stop deleting my posts. The screenshot says Wales. Are there no Nigerian men in Wales? |
Was this fish harvested from the Niger Delta-- with all the pollution in that region from the oil/petrochemical industry? Jisos! These are things the government should be addressing-- things that affect the common man. No food, No job, No money, No infrastructure, No social welfare, No healthcare. We go die for this country! |
Work for it, let us see! Everybody is quick to run to the press to make an announcement. Any call for a republic is treason. I want to see Nigeria try all these guys for treason. Put up or shut up! As it stands, we already have: Arewa Republic Odua Republic Bendel Republic Middle Belt Republic Biafra Republic Niger Delta Republic Kanem-Bornu (Boko-Haram) Republic .....What is Osibanjo doing? The fabric of the country is tearing apart. Why is he parading around as an Acting President, when he is not acting as president? |
Arewa Republic Odua Republic Bendel Republic Middle Belt Republic Biafra Republic Niger Delta Republic Kanem-Bornu Republic Which one I forget? ............RIP Nigeria. |

aribisala0:In order words, the status quo should remain? You are out of your mind! |
Nice one. However, there is no politics of principle in Nigeria. APC = PDP = CPC. At half-time these guys change shirts and start playing against their own team. So will the transformation of IPOB to a political party yield any results in a House skewed in favor of Arewa? |
In the aftermath of the bloody Sunday of 6th August it has emerged that Ozubulu controls the SA drug game. According to a source, Ozubulu drug barons control about 60 percent of wholesale drug sales in South Africa (not importation or retail). The source alleged that Ikegwuonwu, also known as Bishop, is at the centre of the crisis and controlled a cartel in SANS, Hillbrow/Berea, Johannesburg. He said there was a time when there was a serious fight for the soul of SANS. He said a long time ago, Bishop allegedly invited his high school classmate and friend to manage his cartel, even though he also brought a lot of Ozubulu boys from Nigeria to help him secure SANS. Six years later, the source said, Ikegwonwu’s manager (the former classmate) told him he was resigning to start his own business. “Ikegwuonwu then asked him to leave SANS and go somewhere else to start his own trade. The manager (I have forgotten his name now) refused to leave SANS. Some people alleged Ikegwuonwu paid him money to leave SANS but he refused”, he noted. The source said nobody heard about the manager thereafter. “Ikegweonwu asked all drug barons to leave SANS for him alone. Some left while some stayed back.” He said that was when the fight started. “2016 was the worst year for Ozubulu people in South Africa. Over 30 drug barons were killed”, he noted. The source said the church shooting was targetted at Ikegwuonwu’s father just to hurt him and force him out of hiding. He recalled that when Ikegwonwu’s father was kidnapped, N60 million was demanded but he paid N120 million and warned them not to harm his father. |

Recently, news of Neymar's record-breaking £198million move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain was on the front page. One Nairalander joked that this this sum was more than the IGR of the entire SE. ![]() That might be a joke but it highlights a few key points: -Nigeria earns 99% of her income from oil rent. -Even if every Nigerian took 365 days off from work in a year, it will not change Nigeria's income. (if Nnamdi Kanu shuts down SE for 1 month, it wont change Nigeria's income). -Nigeria economy is only concerned with value of dollar ( monetarism), and not a true economy. -Nigeria economist talk about macro-economics but no one dare talk about welfare economics (benefits of the economy for the masses). -So Nigerians are a nuisance because whether they live or die, Nigeria's income wont change. Even the NE that has been shut down by BOKO for the past 5 years has not changed Nigeria's income. IGR is a measure of the true economy, and in that respect, most states are bankrupt. Nigerian citizens are irrelevant to the Business (FGN) of Nigeria because the real business is offshore anyway. The only way to partake of the Business on NIgeria is to get into office as new investors (senators, ministers, governors ) and acquire shares in the business. Otherwise, any government worthy of its name will put emphasis on generation of power(electricity) to power the economy, and create an efficient transportation system to take goods to market. Those who are not shareholders in the Business (FGN) are fed up with the current state of affairs and want to tear the system apart. This is where Nnamdi Kanu is right!. We need a people's republic of Nigeria because FGN has no plans for the future for her teeming population. |
I don't think Nigeria will survive this call for a break up, as many group and tribe, even out of Biafra extraction are supporting the call for self-determination and for every tribe to go their separate ways. Ever since the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu made the statement that he will embark on a tour to Lagos, there have been a wild rage of fear gripping the masses; some have beckoned that the visit will cause more harm than good, while others pondered that he should not go to a land other than Biafran land. The recent statement made by the Avengers will go forth to relieve people from tension and fear, as they have declared to go with Nnamdi Kanu on his tour to Lagos State. In a statement made by Akwa Akpa which reads, "We will accompany you to Lagos State, Nnamdi Kanu. We will see to it that your safety is assured. Lagos is too small to hit a stone, talk more of attacking you. If anything as such happens, we will not only set Lagos ablaze; we will ruin the land that their next generation will not, anymore remember there was a city called Lagos. We will go with you in peace, but hell is with us." http://www.masternewsngr.com/2017/08/breaking-newsavengers-to-nnamdi-kanu-we.html |
THERE was speculation Tuesday night that the Presidential jet in London departed the country perhaps to Nigeria which caused tension within the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/anxiety-mounts-over-alleged-departure-of-presidential-jet-in-london/ |
