@Righteousness 2, because of your insensitive post and replies, someone has said he will never join your church and have brought unnecessary comments about your congregation, there is a difference from speaking the truth and spiking indignation.

Wisdom is profitable to direct.

Know this.

You're adding hell to where the Pope might be which I feel it is not right, but to u guys going to Chosen, it is proper. When Muoka leave this world in his old age, I wonder if u will add hell to where he might be departing to. I'm scared of joining Chosen because I don't want to have this kind of thought

Imagine. So imagine that you told them you got 400k job elsewhere. Bro I think you worth more o. I will suggest you create another thread for this.

But I love Benin sha. Cost of living is cheap.

I am telling you bro, at first I was scared they might ask for my new job offer letter to confirm, but they didn't cos they have a level of trust for me due to past experiences with me and how I have gone about my job honestly.

According to my CFO they would have paid up to that 400k cos since when I came I have cut down on AMCs and unnecessary expenses but lemme not be greedy but take it step by step. I believe God will keep rewarding me.

My advice to all, be honest, be dilligent, build capacity, keep grinding, one day you will look back and see how far God has taken you.

I hope to create a thread one day of how I started has an ICT instructor just 4yrs ago earning 30k and about to earn 350k now.

God no dey fail o.

Your hustle will pay one day.

Cheers

How do you suggest I meet them? I will admit, my personality tends to work against me. I'm very introverted and I don't know how to network and mingle.

Is that your group on Telegram? Can you do a whatsapp group as well, if it's not too much trouble?

Okay, I have decided to create a WhatsApp group for IT SUPPORT, if you are willing to learn or share knowledge concerning the IT support world.

We would be also answering questions and dealing with common issues faced with IT support especially in the Hospitality industry and also be sharing IT SUPPORT jobs.

You got to move, there is a hidden trap, besides that amount is nothing compared to your salary+Free food stuff+time that will be on your side to start a business. You can not work forever for someone

You are right, but from what I seeand observed from recent emails, since joining the company, I have saved them cost, a lot of cost in installation, repairs, maintenance, and a few to mention. This is why they are willing to pay me more.

As long as they have documented the new 350k in an improved letter take it and stay in Lagos. You have better chances in Lag of moving from 350k to 500-700k within few years than in Benin where you might be on that 200k for several years.

BTW, did you use to repair computer gadgets before did you ever stay in Ojodu Berger area? Will appreciate your response.

Exactly what my GM said, that with my skills, in no long time I will continue to earn more, if I go to Benin, I will stagnate my progress as I am still a young Lad. I am currently running an online course which my current company gives me time to attend due to the structures I have laid down, moving to a new company might not give me that luxury of time.

Last night, I spied into the email conversations they had, and all my Lebanese Chairman was saying, is do everything to keep him, he is good. This gave me more courage to negotiate more.

I just finished having a meeting with the management board and with counsel from mentors and you guys here, I negotiated for Free meal and HMO with pension, they agreed for the free meal and pension, but disagreed on the HMO.

I thank you all for giving me the courage to take some decisions. If everything goes as plan, from my next salary, I promise a little giveaway to all that commented here.

Thank you all.

Carry yourself de go Benin.

Omo, for the most part, lagos na busy-doing-nothing lifestyle. Many i’m-in-Lagos people, after HOUSE RENT and TRAFFIC don gulp their share of their salary, sapa takes over — so continues the monthly cycle.

Except you run a profitable business(Lagos get the market for virtually anything), make no employee come sing Lagos this, eko that for my ears. Opportunities are many, opportunities are plenty, but sapa is plentier: na under-100k jobs many pass.

Baba, obey the calls of the ancient city.

Owiepa, Godspeed!

Bro, I hail, Lagos na fake lifestyle but one can't deny there are life changing opportunities, in my years of working, I have had the good, bad and ugly, truly I have had opportunities I would never have had in Benin, but one can't trade it with the peace of mind that comes staying in Benin. I have always prayed for this years back(2020 precisely during Covid) when I was earning 160k that if I get a job of 200k in Benin I will gladly move back but now I have gradually build networks and relationships.

your power bill is on the high side, if there isn't a prepaid for your flat, then you may consider looking for an apartment with one. Have you considered the cost of moving down to benin to take up the new offer

Yes I have, moving to Benin, I have free accommodation, just transport fare, I should roughly save up to 130k monthly if I settle my parents and siblings and utilities.

Here in Lagos I save 100k, a times more if I get overtime at work.

Wow, thanks so much guys for all the comments, having discussed with my GM(we are very close), I told him I would be resigning cos I got a better offer of 350k(Lol), cos the Benin Job is like a 350k job in Lagos. He was like congratulations but I should hold on first and not tender my resignation, he would discuss with the Chairman and MD ASAP, only for me to get a call this evening from him telling me congratulations, they are willing to pay me that same 350k. This just scatter my head. Lots of thoughts running through my mind right now.

Why didn't they increase my pay all this while?

Why are they willing to suddenly pay me that same 350k?

Hope this is not a trap to just increase my work and tie me down?

Kindly go to Benin since it's up for consideration.
With that pay u are a rich man in Benin city. With 50k out of that cash, your utility bills are likely covered and you can save as much as 40% at the end of the day.

Meanwhile in Lagos, transportation can gulp 50k off the pay monthly, Accomodation can gulp a big chunk even when the house is not a match compared to what you will get in Benin with equivalent sum or less.
Finally, you already know how frustrating Lagos[b] traffic can be.
If you stay in Lag for 50 years, you would have spent 15 years in traffic. Lol

Lolzzz, my dear, you have said it all, my friend we both graduated from UNIBEN with 150k salary has a car now, from savings over the years, lives comfortably, though he always envy the Lagos lifestyle but chose comfort than luxury. I just spoke to him and he told me to grab the opportunity with both hands as I will be getting weekly foodstuffs and won't spend a dime on feeding, transportation is 200 go come from where I plan to stay.

Stick with lagos, pension plus your salary is good, hopefully you would move from there to a better opportunity, try network as lagos have more opportunities

You have a point but considering house rent and transportation, one will wonder how much of the 250k you can save, I had to discover from Nepa recently has my bill was up to 15k monthly for just a 2room apartment, lawma bill is there, landlord and tenant contribution, utility bill is just crazy.

Good day my fellow Nairalanders,

So I recently got a job as in IT officer in Lagos and in Benin, the one I got in Lagos(Restaurant /Fashion Store) is 250k plus pensions and HMO while the one in Benin(Hydro Farm) is 200k, no pension but there is free weekly farm produce available for staffs.

I currently reside in Lagos and my house rent is on the High side but I am from Benin and getting accommodation in Benin won't be hard.

With the high inflation rate, will you advise I move to Benin considering I won't be spending on food, transportation and housing is cheap.

Please I need your comments.
