Backcheck: Well
Well well well! As promised here is my landing gist.
Set out from home at about 2pm and got to the airport by past 3. We entered into the terminal and they were saying only I and another 1 person can enter. “”They need you to drop something’. Once we entered the airport, we were directed to customs immediately where they wanted to search my bags and was asking whats inside, I just said books and clothes, squeezed 1k and they said bye bye. (Couldn’t allow them start scattering). Once I was done, I was directly to the agricultural part, to declare what I have and they open your bags, they give you a card and you pay 2k ( I didn’t declare shit, told them theres no food in it, you can just slip away from here) after that you’re done with that.
Then I went straight to my airline, klm started checking in by 4pm, got there early so I was like number 3 on the line. While my bag was being weighed, excess luggage (33kg and 27kg) hand luggage was 9kg and 7kg, the guy just told us to go and reduce or pay 203 USD, my sister the expert just told me not to worry, and we stood one side, before 10mins some guys approached in uniform, the baggage guys, and started doing all the help and asking how much we want to pay, we drag drag drag, and agreed 30k. They then helped me repack the boxes, to a max of 27kg each and my hand luggage was 12kg and 8kg. While all this baggage wahala was on going, i went to submit documents and passport where the guy asked for just Enrollment letter, fee receipt, admission letter and negative covid result. He took it and asked another guy and gave me back, scanned my passport and that was all. No sending to someone via whatsapp or all that.
After my bags were done, i just took them to the counter where they were tagged and gave me my boarding pass and that was it with bags. In the rush and bag repacking, I didn’t lock/wrap my ghana must go before sending in. Chai I wan die! But thank God it was fully intact.
Proceeded to the departure gate, bided family good bye and I entered.
First encounter is a single immigration officer where you pass your passport and pass, (na where roger start be this) cus they will ask and its better to give. 500 each for anyone way hail me.
Then the other immigration where you would scan your passport, fingerprints, take pictures, check your visa, and roger. If you dont have anything to give, sha make sure you check that they stamp your passport with exit stamp.
You then go to body scan, take off your belts shoes, laptop and all that, no problems here.
Then to customs again (final place) : This place they would ask how much you are carrying and declaring, if you have over 10k USD dont just bother declaring it, nothing go happen, if you declare be like say charges dey oo. This is in Nigeria ooo. When you get to CA please and please, declare it.
After this I proceeded to the boarding gate! and bye bye to Nigeria!!
Landed in Amsterdam, Netherlands at about 5:30 WAT, and proceeded to arrival hall, where there was a screen displaying all flights and gate to be at, found my gate and kept walking there, there are signs everywhere, so no need to even ask anyone anything, this airport is damn large! The walk no be small. This is where I waited till my flight time, easy peasy. Made a friend so had him watch over my bags while I went to freshen up a bit and vice varsa. I sha got something light to each, cus 6 hours wait no be small, this is where the conversation syndrome got me, got a sandwich, candy and water for 12euros thats 6k+ (Pic 1) I just dey shake head. Ate, and waited for time to board. This was it for Netherlands.
Flight to Calgary
What a long flight, leaving Netherlands by 12:30pm and flying 8+ hours only to get to Calgary 1:30pm, omo! The time difference. This flight time didn’t make it interesting as I couldn’t open window to enjoy the view, hot sun and reflection. On this flight food was a bit fair.
When we got to calgary, proceeded into the airport, first point of contact is to self checkin, this is where you declare your stuffs, food, excess cash, sickness, this and that, and how long you will spend in Canada, I enter 730 days, as per 2years, then the machine gives you a ticket. I then proceeded to CBSA, the guy asked to pass my ticket and passport, which I did, asked what brings me to canada, asked what course. Asked how much I had with me, since I already declared above 10k CAD. He then asked for my arrive Can, Study Authorizations letter (This is what we’ve been calling LOi) and covid test. He asked if i have any documents to support my studies i then passed my Admission letter, enrollment letter, tuition receipt, statement of Account, asin I just dey give am. He asked what food stuffs I brought, and I passed a printed copy of food stuffs I brought, I typed it already. He had to smile and said ‘I like you, you’re very much prepared’ I said thanks. I honestly almost said, thank God for Nairaland. He gave me some Covid forms and returned my passport. I then proceeded to pick up my bags. After picking up, then I was directed to where they issue study permit gaan gaan. The same documents asked for by the CBSA officer is what you give them here, and they put in a file, then tell you to go and sit down. They call your name when its your turn. After about 20mins I was called, you go there with your luggage, based on your declaration, the food stuffs are checked, just make sure to pack food in one luggage so they dont unpack all your luggage. After this, the officer him self filled a form for me, for the amount declared and gave me a copy. When I was done, he told me to meet his colleague, that one has already printed my permit, and stapled to my passport so when I got there, she just opened and read the conditions for me. No stress at all!!
Ps: omo this CBSA female officers must have been handpicked, cus choi!! them no lack at all lmao.
I was then directed to where covid testing is done. Did my test, and headed out to the parking bay to wait for my hotel shuttle.
Ps: To avoid delay prebook your covid test, when you book online you get a booking Code, with this code, you will already skip alot of waiting time.
I thank God for journey mercies!! Make I no lie, Canada na better place! Nice people everywhere, from security to driver to passerby, to hotel boys ands staffs. This one sweet my body, see as i dey smile. May Canada favor you my boss. |

How many Rwandans can afford a vacation? That is true, I have not met any that can afford a vacation, except that they travels to Congo and other neighboring countries. But I would say that they are ‘comfortable’, you know Security, Electricity, etc. Dangote’s net worth is bigger than the country’s. |

vincentao: My short review about Kigali, Rwanda:
Nice and organized place. They are quite conservative. Understatement. They are very conservative. Foreginers are the ones bringing in the money. If you don’t speak the local language, expect to pay x5. Quite secure, very low crime rate. Rent is expensive, but luckily for me I met a Nigerian guy that helps people get short term stay houses according to your budget. Most landlords/agents would rip you off simply because you don’t speak local languguage. They also think ALL Nigerians are VERY RICH lol. Nigerians are really hustling here sha. Nigerian food is also available but costly. Tried a few but the only ones that seemed to know what they are doing was www.bestnigerianfoodinkigali.com. I simply ordered online then they delivered to my apartment and their portion sizes are big with and comes free chin chin or puff puff lol. Low purchasing power seems to be the problem for businesses, hence competition is stiff. Last but not the least, Rwandan women. Beautiful to behold with great curves and slim waist. Omo they can squirt for Africa and beyond haha. They call it “Amazi” meaning “water” lol True, https://www.bestnigerianfoodinkigali.com./ are the best, I order from them everyday since I got here. |

Agape123: Picture 1 was when I came back to Rwanda. Rwand here is the best just 4 hours . Ethiopia first took us to Addis, from Addis to Burundi then to Kigali, waste of time. Picture 2 is house rent for 1 month with my friends. Omo the house we rented in Gacuriro is $1,000 per month. House for here cost die
Since 2 weeks now there have been curfew which was removed yesterday. They foreigners are the one bringing money in, imagine when I came in, I paid $60 for corona test, when you’re leaving you do another corona test, mind you d test i did in Lagos was still valid o, when u get here u spend 1 day in hotel till ur Results is out, my first time I stayed in the manor hotel at Nyarutarama. Very expensive hotel, second was the 2000 in downtown.
Omo to buy Naija food cost die But the country is clean and peaceful, but their people poor lol To buy Naija food no too cost if you are paying in $, like $30 everyday sha. |

Jeff5gold: Landing gist landing gist landing gist
So I arrived at MMA, all those serious looking bag boys carried my luggage, I think say them be better people until they told me I needed to buy yellow card 6 thousand naira that without the yellow card, I won’t be allowed to board or immigration will charge me 200 dollar, well I quickly made it clear to them that I came to the airport with no money atall not even dollar….I nor get money to waste.
Flight was by 11pm check-in started by 4PM they asked for my Enrolment letter Acceptance letter School fees receipt
The airline staff (KLM) verified the documents, Omo one fyn woman..I nor just understand just squeeze face Dey say 3 weeks to resumption…Omo I being 1 faint …after snapping those documents I mentioned earlier, I was asked to bring my covid test result…then I realize I’m good to go
If you are traveling..buy snacks or anything put for your bag….hunger almost kill me.
So when I arrived Toronto airport; officer asked me if I have been accepted by the school I’m going to, I said yes, and he said if I have proof I told him yes and should him my acceptance letter. He was observing the letter then I gave him my letter of introduction without him asking Then he ask if I have paid my fee .. I told him yes and gave him my receipt…he observe the receipt and he said …oboy your admission letter say 15k then why did you pay 3k …..I just smile and said ….we are allowed to pay per the courses you are offering and I will be offering only 3 courses that’s why I paid 3k …..he just node head So I told him I have my covid result…he asked me to bring it. Then he started asking me some questions, Omo …I think the officer was looking at my file and asking me questions from there. I realize that when he called the name of my sponsor . And asked about his job. I told him every every. So he ask if I have proof of funds….I told him my sponsor refused to give me (I forget to carry o) Then final question..what will you be doing till your school resume….I told him quarantine So he printed my study permit Nd SiN stuf …..Nd started advising me that I can work for 20 hours then holiday time, I can work for 40 hours….and I can go back to Nigeria for visiting (I just shake my head for my mind). So that’s all….then I was walking down to the next part I started hearing…hello sir, hello sir , hello sir…..I didn’t bother looking back ….I nor believe say immigration officer go Dey call me sir….I finally looked back, it was d officer and he gave me one of my print out that I forgot with him ……
So I went to claim my baggage. After that, I went to do covid test, then after that …went to one joint to wait for my shuttle to my hotel. Nice hotel nice view, Everything went smooth and I thank God for a safe trip. Wishing everyone coming this fall Safe travels.
I use style like their food sha. congratulations. |

IntimidationJay: No, it is not true. The only thing I have heard here is that in event of receiving a medical request which is valid for 30days but you cannot find an appointment date within the 30 days, you can send an email pleading for an early date. However, this is solely at the discretion of the clinic to give an early date. I hope this clarifies things. correct. |
