Tourshaw:Lols... The legendary Tourshaw... If it's still on let's give it another shot. Neyoor is with a newspaper now. |
I will agree with the irrelevant/insignificant decree to post this one. Abeg ooo. The Quran verse didn't mention finger print poo, it said muscles of the finger. Haba! Why na! Y'all keep consolidating the stance of atheist and, agnostics. |
I was born and bred here ooo. All these na my area. Anytime I am around I notice a few things. The roads: worse. Ẹ̀gbọ́ns: haggard. Age grade: Fraudsters. Hotels and, joints: multiplying. Prostitutes and, dirty runs girl: uncountable. Ijesha don cast! Anybody wey make am go just move. However, Ijesha boys dey always dey shrewd. Ijesha my Ijesha! |

Guestlander:Chill...it was copied. I do not have the will to research on it so, I brought it here for scrutiny. Chill man. |
Guestlander:It is very insensitive to leave the 'Yorubaland' there... I know. I will modify that now. |
Awolowo lost a lawyer son. Akintola lost a lawyer son. Jakande lost a lawyer daughter, and Bola Ige too. Now, Tinubu lost a lawyer son. They are all first child. Coincidence ? Or the price of leadership in Nigeria?Just my thoughts..... #copied |
I must have presented multipotentiality in such a positive light on my last post (https://www.nairaland.com/4144224/multipotentialite I don't know why lalasticlala and, mynd44 didn't push it to fp I think it's worth it) that some of my readers tried to make a title out of it. Well, I'm sorry it's not rather, it is a personality trait and, like most personality traits it can be advantageous if well understood and, managed but, it will have adverse effects on the individuals life if the reverse was the case. For the sake of better understanding I will outline the positive and, negative sides of being a multipotentialite. To a multipotentialite this is not news but, you probably haven't given it thought in this direction. I hope this helps you manage yourself better. Challenges and advantages of being a multipod. 1. People consider you unserious. Basically due to the fact that you get bored easily with things and, will stop or change a career path or job more often than usual. 2. You feel helpless and, isolated. It is normal for people to feel isolated if they are going through situations that they have little or no information about. 3. Pressure to conform and, stick to one true calling. When the society requires something of us we find ourselves trying to be like others. You struggle to stay on a job even if it has become very boring there. 4. People think you are better at giving advice than taking them. This happens because you know something about everything and, seem to know the best advice to render to a person in need of one no matter the situation they are in. 5. You find it difficult getting to the top of any particular career because of the frequent switch of careers. This could also lead to financial difficulties. The above may be true for most multipotentialites(remember the purpose of this post is to outline our challenges so, that we can manage them better) but on the flip side, there are several upsides to being a multipotentialite. 'We give our everything to every new adventure. We dedicate ourselves fully to each new endeavor. We bring vast, unparalleled experience to each position. "Thinking outside the box" is our whole approach- we don't even know what 'the box' is. At some pint we may come to recognize the pattern, and use it to our advantage - we have five years to learn, accomplish, and change everything we can (we tend to succeed).' Emily Anderson. From the above quote I will outline a few points and, more. 1. There's so much drive to achieve at a new venture. We come in with a goal in mind and work speedily to achieve it. It's sometimes harder for people to catch up. 2. We pick new skills easily, which can be transferable. 3. We come in with a broad and, 'out-of-the-box' mindset due to periods spent at intersections. This means we are creative and, innovative. 4. We have friends/network in diverse fields. 5. We can hold almost all kinds of conversations...because we have interests almost everywhere. 'Try to look at your weaknesses and, convert it to strength. That's success' Zig Ziglar Being a multipotentialite feels like more strength than weakness. I will like to read from you, tell me your challenges and, strengths. solomonsarea./2017/11/05/5-challenges-and-strengths-of-a-multipotentialite/

MULTIPOTENTIALITES October 28, 2017Chinonso Solomon At some point in my life I felt confused and, out of place whenever I am confronted with what I really what to do. I knew I could sing, play football, write and, I also tend to come up with new ideas in IT (mobile games and, apps). Obviously this comes with so many challenges, your life feels like a labyrinth, there is chaos but, there is little or no help because people doesn’t really understand this. You may find yourself taking a course on how to write fiction this year and, later a programming course… being a member of a choir and, then playing football for a local football club. This scenario makes one perplexed, I mean, I was. If this feels like you stay with me… Over the years I had fallen in love TEDTalks…who wouldn’t? I could access the best minds for free, Chimamanda Adichie’s ‘Danger of a single story,’ Philip Zimbardo’s ‘Time Perspective’ etc. I even chose to be a Psychologist after listening to a TEDTalk in 2013 about depression on Joyce’s program on CoolFm ( a radio station in Lagos, Nigeria). TEDTalk came through again when I watched Emilie Wapnick’s ‘Why some of us don’t have one true calling…’ ‘So, I was not alone here… Wow! I can make the best of this ‘gift…Ah, they’ve got a name for my confusion…’ my mind went on and, on. Emilie’s talk was an epiphany to me. I am a MULTIPOTENTIALITE! I have always been! Multipotentialite “An educational and psychological term referring to a pattern found among intellectually gifted individuals. [Multipotentialites] generally have diverse interests across numerous domains and may be capable of success in many endeavors or professions, they are confronted with unique decisions as a result of these choices.” Wiki links You’ll love Emilie Wapnicks explanation. A multipotentialite is someone with many interests and creative pursuits. Multipotentialites have no “ one true calling ” the way specialists do. Being a multipotentialite is our destiny. We have many paths and we pursue all of them, either sequentially or simultaneously (or both). Multipotentialites thrive on learning, exploring, and mastering new skills. We are excellent at bringing disparate ideas together in creative ways. This makes us incredible innovators and problem solvers. When it comes to new interests that emerge, our insatiable curiosity leads us to absorb everything we can get our hands on. As a result, we pick up new skills fast and tend to be a wealth of information. Child development, human development and, the multipotentialite. Children from about 4-14years are encouraged to be multipotentialites. For instance, parents are proud if their kid can sing and, dance, good in sports and, maths, spelling and, pronunciation but, as they grow older the parents and, society subconsciously begin to expect specialisation from their kids. If not they are perceived as unserious, and unfocused. So, even multipotentialites begin to specialise, the result however, is that they get bored and, unhappy with sticking to one thing alone, or for a long time. ~There’s an obscurity between being a multipotentialite and, just being unserious and, unfocused.~ Historically, the renaissance time didn’t frown at being a multipotentialite. ‘The common term Renaissance man is used to describe a person who is well educated or who excels in a wide variety of subjects or fields. The idea developed in Renaissance Italy from the notion expressed by one of its most accomplished representatives, Leon Battista Alberti (1404–1472): that “a man can do all things if he will.” It embodied the basic tenets of Renaissance humanism , which considered humans empowered, limitless in their capacities for development, and led to the notion that people should embrace all knowledge and develop their capacities as fully as possible. Thus the gifted people of the Renaissance sought to develop skills in all areas of knowledge, in physical development, in social accomplishments, and in the arts.’ Wiki link Contemporarily, there is no better time and, age that demands the embracement and utilisation of multipotentialites. Changing reality demands that you take up more than one or, two roles to survive in leading companies and, industries. However, the roles of specialists can not be undermined as they are vital to create good balance. A specialist brings experience and, expertise, the multipotentialite brings creativity gotten from different fields and, applies to present challenges. ~Companies, industries… The world needs a good mix of specialists and, multipotentialites to reach full potential~ As individuals, multipotentialites need to embrace their ‘power’ now like never before. You can be a Psychologist a writer and, saxophonist like my friend Miracle Oluwasegun. An artist and, a medical doctor, a professional social media handler, a movie director, actor and, a footballer. In the modern world, where a very common job might require someone to be a social-media expert, public speaker, writer and data analyst, the polymath wins and the deep subject-matter expert is relegated to a back corner to be used as a resource for others. As an investor, if I were going to pick the perfect team, it would be a group of rock-star polymaths with a single subject matter expert as a resource. — Jake Chapman, In Specialization, Polymaths And The Pareto Principle In A Convergence Economy Some popular multipotentialites. Bros, you ain't that smart. You see the pattern in the names? A 'real' name + two numbers and, short comments. This is not the behavioural pattern of Nairalanders. Study well before execution. |
THT80:Taa! Stand well bros. Silly excuse to save face. Nobody is an island we all strive by borrowing brilliance. Your religious beliefs/knowledge were borrowed too. Yes, he is guilty but, was it out of line? No! Definitely not. Next time come ready... For the records... You chickened' out. |
Looks good. Kudos. |
I give much attention to the debate on the link between these two nations but, this one can be coincidence na... BTW, people should be proud of who they are but, nothing wrong with finding links too. I would appreciate factual contrary or confirmatory sentiments. Enjoy... SOME OF THE KNOWN TRADITIONS OF IGBOS BEFORE THE MISSIONARIES CAME TO AFRICA 1. In Igboland a woman lives apart from their husbands nor cooks for them or enters their husband’s quarters when she is on her period, she is seen as unclean . Even up till today such practice is still applicable in some part of Igboland especially by the traditionalist. Before a woman can enter the palace of Obi of Onitsha , she will be asked if she is on period, if yes, she will be asked to stay out. Leviticus 15: 19-20 When a woman has her monthly period, she remains unclean, anyone who touches her or anything she has sat on becomes unclean. 2. An Igbo man’s ancestral heritage, called “Ana Obi” is not sellable, elders will not permit this. If this is somehow done due to the influence of the West the person is considered a fool and is ostracized by the community. 1 king 21:3 I inherited this vineyard from my ancestors, and the lord forbid that I should sell it, said Naboth. 3. Igbos have practiced the taking a late brothers wife into marriage after she had been widowed until the white men came. Now it is rarely done but except in very rural villages of the bush. Deuteronomy 25:5 A widow of a dead man is not to married outside the family; it is the duty of the dead man's brother to marry her. 4. In Igboland, there is a unique form of apprenticeship in which either a male family member or a community member will spend six(6) years (usually in their teens to their adulthood) working for another family. And on the seventh year, the head of the host household, who is usually the older man who brought the apprentice into his household, will establish (Igbo: idu) the apprentice by either setting up a business for him or giving money or tools by which to make a living. Exodus 21:2 If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay you anything. 5. In Igboland , the yam is very important to the Igbo as it is their staple crop. There are celebrations such as the New yam festival (Igbo: Iri Ji) which are held for the harvesting of the yam. New Yam festival (Igbo: Iri ji) is celebrated annually to secure a good harvest of the staple crop. Those old days it is an abomination for one to eat a new harvest before the festival. It's a tradition that you give the gods of the land first as a thanks given. Deuteronomy 16:9 Count 7 weeks from the time that you begin to harvest the crops, and celebrate the harvest festival to honor the lord your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you. Celebrate in the lord's presence together with your children, servants, foreigners . Be sure that you obey my command, said the lord. 6. In Igboland it's a tradition that the male children are circumcised on the 8th day. This tradition is still practice till date. Leviticus 12:3 On the eighth day, the child shall be circumcised. 7. In Igboland, there a practice known as "ile omugwo ". After a woman has given birth to a child, a very close and experienced relative of her, in most case her mother is required by tradition to come spend time with her and her husband. In which she is to do all the work of the wife, while the new mom’s only assignment to the baby will be to breastfeed. This goes on for a month or more. In the Igbo old tradition, at this time, the new mom lives apart from her husband, would not cook or enter his quarters. Leviticus 12:1-4 For seven days after a woman gives birth, she is ritually unclean as she is during her monthly period. It will be 33 days until she is ritually clean from the loss of blood; she is not to touch anything that is holy. subtlemee:If you don't mind... What's your discipline ma? |
It is totally wrong... This na abuse na... Tell me if I'm wrong pls. Let's say they end up being recruited, what do you think they'll do to people they perceive to be lower than them? Yes, that's the cyclical nature of human right abuse and, abuse of power in this part of the world. Our military, paramilitary, even ordinary school security need reorientation. YOUR JOB IS TO SECURE LIVES AND PROPERTIES!!! AND NOT TO TERRORISE US. THANK YOU. |
