My advice to anyone whose NOC is not in demand would be to bite the bullet & learn French (additional CRS points wise and money wise) - not easy at all but it's the most rationale choice now if you look at the options coldly.

With French you'll still be ahead in 2 years time than someone who went to Canada as a student and completed a 1 or 2 yr degree and has 1 year Canadian work experience (CRS grid facts) and will spend far far far less money, especially now that the Student POF (excluding tuition & travel fees) is doubling from Jan 2024 and PGWP extensions are ending soon.

Alternative is to pivot careers and get a job in an in-demand NOCs even if only for a year (for PNP and FSW CBDs)

There's always the chance of a miracle but prepare like there's none on the horizon. Stay hopeful, pray that the odds will favour you more often than not, but please do the needful.

All the best guys!

ABEG make una try learn French.....

2nd French Speakers Draw of 2023 CRS 375

Even if you spend NGN2million and 18months to learn...paying for tutor, exam etc, it's still cheaper than study route!!

CLB 7 across gives 62 CRS points

Those asking where to start should read here or contact AF: https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration#70227147

Just to encourage people to please, please, please learn French...the francophone agenda is political (edit: meaning there is a strong drive to preserve the french language and identity).

There have been and will continue to be even more French draws compared to the targeted NOC draws (last healthcare in July, last STEM in April, last transport in March & last agric in Feb)...meanwhile there have been 8 French draws in 2024.

It may be very hard at the start but I have not met anyone who tried it and regretted.

Go to the OIS services website and book an appointment for drop box for her then print out the acknowledgment slip and take it together with the IW documents to the ois office. The OIS date is the valid one and it doesn’t have to be the same date with the AVITS one. The day I submitted mine at the OIS office Abuja, they didn’t let people with the AVITS appointment letter in.
Documents to go with for IW:
Ois acknowledgment slip
Passport photographs x 2
Passport booklet
Ds 160 confirmation

Thanks very much for this. She already has the OIS appointment booked for the same day. I just don't want them to turn her away by saying the AVITS confirmation is for interview at the embassy, not for interview waiver. Just trying to be careful because she's elderly and won't have energy for their wahala.

Thanks again.

Hello! Could someone please help with this.

My mum has been migrated and new account created on AVITS but the letter that was downloaded looks like a regular interview not interview waiver (even though it has the same date as her old interview waiver letter from UStraveldocs). Is this what the interview waiver looks like please?

Regular Non-Immigrant Visa
POST Appointment
Visitor Visa
B1/B2
Print appointment letter

Your OIS Appointment confirmation
DS 160 confirmation

International passport

Also, my mum submitted today and they didn’t request for the 48k. I am not sure why.

Great, thanks so much for responding.

Just touched down calgary.

One striking difference when compared to the UK is the little cloud cover. Nice blue skies with little cloud cover.

Theres no 'high street' perse but rather an area zoned to retail outlets in each locality.

Calgary's blue skies are beautiful....love it......sunniest city in Canada with over 300 days of unfiltered vitamin D!

I had my IW appointment yesterday (29th August) at OIS Services dropoff centre in Lagos. I was scheduled initially for October 2024 then the embassy automatically rescheduled me for the 24th of July but I was out of the country so I had to reschedule that and it was on the 29th August.
Following the communication that the DHL will no longer be used for dropoff, I got an email last week Friday to go to OIS on the day of my appointment 2 hours after my initially scheduled appointment.
I got to the OIS centre at 11am (my appointment was at 9am) and there was a crowd outside. I was told I had to get a number and I was given number 108 meanwhile they just called number 80 to come in.
I was not called in till 12 noon and we were kept waiting in a room till about 1pm when we were called into the room where the drop off was being done. I was there till 2:45pm and the process was very slow with few people attending to the large crowd of people.
Additionally, we all had to pay 48,000 Naira which they called service fee for using the OIS facility.
It was a long and tiring process and it is obvious the OIS team are not fully ready to take over this process. The office is not fully furnished and they are just taking it as it goes for now.
Hopefully, it will normalise within one month. If you have IW to schedule, I advise to wait till they get themselves before scheduling.

PS: I am still not able to create an account on the website so I am unable to track my application.

Thanks so much for this.

Please what documents did you need to take to OIS for your IW appointment?

I booked an appointment for my mum on the OIS website and I'll let her know about the 48k payment as well, but just to reduce stress on the elderly lady, abeg. She has not yet received an email from AVITS, she just has her old IW appointment letter from USTraveldocs (appointment booked before the change in August), GTB payment receipt and DS160 confirmation. Does she need another appointment letter from AVITS please?

Thanks.

My people how una dey?

Some common questions that are still coming up:

*You can edit your profile, pre and post ITA.

*The best time to marry and add a new spouse is after AOR.

*Your primary NOC must be at least 1 year continuous. It does not typically need to tally with your education except you're a doctor, pharmacist or architect (new ECA body for architects see page 1 post 3 - updated).

*If you are getting ineligible profile, several suggestions are on page 1 post 2.

*For those asking the history of draws...see page 1 post 2 for latest scores, when they last did healthcare, tech, agric, CEC draws etc

*For those with low CRS ( below 400) who are not older than 40....check page 1 post 2, most likely your IELTS is the problem. Try redo/remark am or do PTE or CELPIP.

Above all, learn French or find work in the targeted NOCs for 6 months to qualify for the targeted draws........ agric, healthcare have low barriers to entry.

Congrats to all on exam success, ITA, PPR, landing etc

Keep pushing guys....and don't neglect to study page 1 and canada.ca

Hello, I would like to know for individuals who got ITA via the French stream and finally COPR. After landing in Canada, are you expected to speak French to the immigration officers? Or you can speak English.
Thanks

cheesy In my experience, the guys at the border will typically greet you with a "Hello/Hi and Bonjour" combo greeting and the conversation will proceed in whichever language YOU continue in, if you say good afternoon, they'll 99% of the time proceed in English.

I'm not sure they go digging in your file to see if you got PR through the French draws but if push comes to shove for whatever reason, anyone with a CLB7 should be comfortable to have a conversation with a border officer in French even if there are errors....but I doubt it'll ever come to that.

Please if I have an OND and HND from a Nigerian school and have a PGD from a Canadian College, would I still need to evaluate my certificate with WES since my highest certificate is from Canada?
If yes, would I need to still evaluate my OND since it is my lowest certificate?

I sincerely really need your urgent guidance.

Page 1 post 3.

AFAIK a PDG isn't equivalent to a Masters. To get points for 2 or more degrees under "Level of Education", evaluate your OND and HND as most people usually do OR evaluate the HND (not OND) alone and combine with with your Canadian PGD (looks like the OND alone is evaluated by WES as a 2 year degree)...... this is my understanding, research more to be 100% certain.

Your PGD will fetch you 15 points for Canadian education of 1 or 2 years under the "Additional Points" - see second link on page 1 post 2.

Hello guys.

Please I’ve got a question on POF.

I currently have a USD account on Payoneer (a platform that allows freelancers to have foreign bank accounts) where I deposit some money from my side hustle as a Freelancer which I intend to present as my POF. The entire required POF is 13,757 CAD which is roughly 10,000 USD.

I currently have 7,000 USD in the account and I recently got my ITA. Before I accept the ITA, can I make make a deposit by withdrawal of 3,000 USD on the account from my Fiverr or Upwork account to make the balance 10,000 USD without it raising any issues post-ITA since the 3,000 will be traceable to my freelance work and can be clearly classified as my income?

See page 1, FAQ 20-22 & FAQ 41

Post ITA checklist on page 1 post 5 may be useful.

We are required to declare all side hustles/freelance work in personal history post ITA; this way you'll also be able to properly explain your source of funds and any additional transfers into your POF account in an LOE.

You need a letter from the financial institution holding your POF, not just a statement of account.

Hello everyone,

My noc is 82030 – Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors. Part of my responsibilities falls under "Agricultural service and part of my responsibilities falls under "Farm supervisor". Can the responsibilities be combined on reference letter?

Thanks

This is just a guess - I think it depends..... if it's a small farm, then you could be both and your JD will cover all or most of the duties in each one. If it is a larger operation, then it may be safer if your JD mostly aligns with one or the other i.e. your JD matches 5 of the Farm Supervisor duties. I think it may be a bit dangerous to have 2 duties from one and 3 from the other. I'm not 100% sure though.

From the lead statement, looks like the Agric Serv Contractor is the foot-soldier and the Farm Supervisor is the Oga.

I plan to do the healthcare category express entry. Please what could I be doing wrong that my profile is ineligible?

Thanks

Pls study page 1 - post 2 covers this. Consider retaking IELTS for better scores (page 1 post 3). Bold - to create a profile you'll need an ECA.

Hello everyone
Please I need clarification on the following please;
1. Is it mandatory to provide proof of funds even if I have a valid job offer in Canada and I have started the job a month ago. See page 1 FAQ 21, second link - the definition of valid job offer by IRCC is not clear to me, hopefully you can decode what they mean.

2. My spouse did not claim any points for work experience but on the checklist she is asked to provide work reference- is this mandatory or just a general checklist? See page 1 FAQ 17

3. After leaving Nigeria in 2016, I have obtained a police clearance for travelling to a different country, can I still use the police clearance though it says only valid for 3 months (since2016) but was obtained after I left the country?
This is because I am finding it difficult to apply for another police clearance from Nigeria as the portal is showing NIN not found despite having a valid NIN used for my passport
Was that old PCC issued for Canada? I would get a new PCC if it were me...just a personal opinion on PCCs. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/6829885/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/601#128702273 .

I will appreciate anyone who can provide insight on this please

You make very valid points, nothing beats studying/research. It Has been saving lives since 1900

I however feel the bolded general statement below depends on the work/job in question especially if it’s medical related.
In my opinion, you can’t have a degree in economics and have work experience as a doctor/pharmacist/Medical Lab scientist, I believe there’s a reason why the employment requirement is stated on the NOC code description.
Understandably an engineering graduate can switch to IT or banking or barber😁, infact I know a guy couple years ago who got ADR to explain the switch from Engineering to banking officer. Thankfully he had firstbank banking school completion certificate, he just sent it. Whilst most people usually don’t get such ADR, Medical related professions however is specialty job that only a formal schooling qualifies one to practice/be employed

The op has a degree in biochemistry and worked after formal(on-the-job) training as a lab scientist. both are related in my opinion.
#MyThoughts

Thanks for bringing up this important point.

Black Bold - IRCC has told us that we do not need to satisfy the education requirements of the NOC we choose, which we both seem to agree to, in general. Bone of contention is medical field https://www.nairaland.com/6081746/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/537#101136249

Purple Bold - You may be right especially with the doctor example, which is valid (edited Page 1 to read "except you're a doctor or pharmacist"..... to be fair IRCC asks for a special body to evaluate the ECA for those 2). However, I think (could be wrong) there may be some medical jobs that one can perform competently without a previous degree e.g. auxiliary nurses, where they learn on the job.

A VO is free to ask for ADR during his assessment, however even for medical job, I'm not sure he is free to reject an application because the applicant did not have the education requirements for said job/NOC, provided the applicant actually did perform the duties and can prove it (as your friend did with evidence of training or some other person with a medical job could do with evidence of haven learnt on the job).

This would be a good one to see a judicial review judgement on...like the law, professional degree WES matter smiley

Hello, I need clarification please. On the crs calculator, only brother and sister are classified as relatives. However, more options are given including aunt and uncles when checking for eligibility as attached.
Can I get extra points if I have an uncle who is a citizen in canada?

It's a little confusing, but....

Any relative, other than your sibling or the sibling of your spouse/common law partner, adds ZERO to your CRS but could add 5 points to your eligibility score. If I had over 67 in eligibility, I wouldn't bother to claim eligibility points from a non-sibling relative.

Since you are both single as of today, why not create a profile each...it's never a good idea to delay entering the pool.

Does your partner have only 1 year work experience in the last 10 years? If he has more years of WE (within the last 10 years) in other NOCs, he could add these too (even though his software NOC will be the primary one). Read FAQ 14 and 15

1. If I submit application to OINP with IELTS that would expire next month. What’s the implication when it expires? Do I have to write a new IELTS?

2. can I apply with the passport that’s about to expire and then use webform to update when I receive new passport?

3. My EE profile expires end of March, if I create new profile before submitting application, do I still need to inform OINP about the new profile.

thanks as I await you kind assistance and advice

Question 3
- see link and screenshot https://www.ontario.ca/page/applying-ontario-immigrant-nominee-program-oinp

Other important info about granting OINP access to his ECA report and the new requirement for a consent letter are on the OINP webpage.

Question 1 - his profile will become ineligible once his IELTS expires...he must rewrite IELTS......and update the new results before expiry of the old IELTS result.
