PoliticsWhen Values, Vision, &Action Move In One Direction, Destiny Gains Speed: Ozigbo by grassrootsig(op): 2:26pm On Jun 01
JUNE 2026: THE MONTH OF COURAGEOUS ALIGNMENT

When values, vision, and action move in one direction, destiny gains speed.

Welcome to June.

I enter this new month with gratitude to God for life, strength, and the gift of another opportunity to live with greater clarity and purpose.

I have chosen to describe June as The Month of Courageous Alignment.

There comes a time in every life when good intentions are no longer enough. Dreams are beautiful, but dreams alone do not build anything lasting. Values are important, but values that do not shape conduct remain only decoration. Vision is powerful, but vision without disciplined action soon becomes a burden on the heart.

Alignment is the moment these things come together.

It is when what we believe begins to guide how we live. It is when our private convictions become visible in our daily choices. It is when we stop negotiating with truth because it is inconvenient, and begin to honour it because it is necessary.

Courageous alignment requires us to choose purpose over popularity, truth over comfort, discipline over excuse, and contribution over complaint. It asks us to become the kind of people whose words, values, and actions can be trusted to point in the same direction.

This matters not only for individuals, but for families, institutions, communities, and nations.

Families become stronger when love, responsibility, and sacrifice align. Organisations flourish when vision is matched by execution. Communities rise when citizens move beyond lamentation into service. Nations are renewed when enough people find the courage to live by the values they claim to believe.

As we begin this month, I invite each of us to pause and ask honestly:

Where in my life do I need greater alignment?

Is it between faith and practice?

Between ambition and discipline?

Between what I desire for my family and what I am willing to sacrifice?

Between the Nigeria I pray for and the personal responsibility I am prepared to accept?

The future does not change simply because circumstances improve. More often, it changes because people become clearer, braver, and more disciplined. It changes when men and women align their actions with their deepest convictions.

May June be a month of clarity, courage, discipline, impact, and alignment for all of us.

May the Almighty God give us the grace to live what we believe, to build what we desire, and to become faithful stewards of the future He has placed before us.

Happy New Month.

Ka Anambra Chawapu.
Ka Nigeria Chawapu.

CLARIFICATION: Fr. Ebube Muonso Did Not Endorse Austin Ndigwe’s Kingship Bid

_By Nwabude Chukwuebuka Collins_

Recent posts circulating on social media have falsely claimed that Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Fr. Ebube Muonso, threw his weight behind the kingship ambition of Chukwuezugo Austin Ndigwe in Awka Kingdom. These claims are inaccurate and misrepresent the true purpose of the cleric’s visit.

For clarity, Fr. Ebube Muonso’s visit to Awka was pastoral and peace-driven, not political. He was in the kingdom to advocate for calm and to encourage strict adherence to the directives issued by the Anambra State Government on the ongoing traditional leadership matter. At no point did he make any statement endorsing or rejecting any individual’s claim to the stool.

During his interaction, Fr. Ebube Muonso specifically advised Austin Ndigwe and other stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient with due process. He cautioned against inflammatory actions, public confrontations, and any conduct capable of inciting unrest or deepening divisions among the people of Awka Kingdom.

The respected cleric emphasized that the sanctity of traditional institutions is best preserved when disputes are resolved through dialogue, respect for constituted authority, and adherence to the rule of law. He reiterated that unity, peace, and brotherly love must take precedence over personal ambition, noting that a divided kingdom weakens the cultural heritage it seeks to protect.

Fr. Ebube Muonso has consistently used his platform to preach peace, reconciliation, and moral responsibility, both in Anambra and beyond. His intervention in Awka should therefore be understood within that consistent pattern of conflict de-escalation and civic responsibility, not as a political alignment.

Members of the public are urged to disregard the misleading reports and to rely on verified information regarding the kingship matter in Awka Kingdom.

Christianity EtcWhen Clergy Pray For Traditional Leaders, It Is Not Politics by grassrootsig(op): 3:57pm On May 21
WHEN CLERGY PRAY FOR TRADITIONAL LEADERS, IT IS NOT POLITICS

FADA EBUBE MUONSO IS INDEED A BLESSING AND ONE WHOM SEEKS FOR UNITY MUST ALWAYS WIN AMIDST ALL

_By Nwabude Chukwuebuka Collins_

The scene of Fada Ebube Muonso praying for Chief Austin Ndigwe has been replayed online with captions that twist meaning and stir division. The problem is not the prayer. The problem is how quickly a spiritual act is repackaged as a political endorsement.

In Igbo culture and Christian tradition, leaders seeking prayers is normal, not controversial.

Titled men, elders, and office holders have long presented themselves before priests and elders for blessings before taking on public responsibility.

The logic is simple: authority without spiritual grounding often breeds arrogance and disorder. Prayer is a reminder that leadership is service, not ownership.

When a cleric prays for a traditional leader, the intent is pastoral.

It is a call for wisdom, peace, and adherence to due process. It is not a coronation, not a campaign, and not a transfer of legitimacy.

Reducing it to partisan alignment undermines the cleric’s role as a neutral voice that can speak to all sides when tension rises.

Communities that survive succession disputes do so because someone is able to stand above the fight and insist on order.

Once that voice is dragged into the fight through misinterpretation, the community loses its last buffer against chaos.

If we want stable traditional institutions, we need to stop reading every priestly visit and every prayer session as a political move.

A prayer remains a prayer.

Let due process, tradition, and the rule of law decide who leads.

PoliticsProject Delivery Model & Funding Strategy: Val Ozigbo by grassrootsig(op): 8:27am On May 21
This Wednesday, May 20, I had the honour of delivering the Lead Paper Presentation on Project Delivery Model & Funding Strategy at the Southeast Nigeria Regional Development Summit 2026 held at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

My message was simple but direct.

The crises we face — insecurity, inflation, weak institutions, and stalled development — are symptoms, not the real root problem. The deeper challenge lies in our values, our moral courage, and our willingness to choose truth over convenience.

I spoke about the urgent need for Nigeria’s structural redesign — not separatism, but the creation of a wiser, fairer, and more productive national architecture that allows every people and every region to thrive.

I also shared a practical capital framework that could unlock over ₦1 trillion annually in development capacity for the Southeast, while calling on leaders across government, academia, business, and civil society to build institutions that are stronger than political cycles.

I would like to appreciate the Chief Host, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, Vice Chancellor of UNN; the organisers; Prof. Pat Uche Okpoko, President, ATDiN and former Deputy Vice Chancellor of UNN; Prof. Emenike Ejiogu, Director of ACE-SPED, UNN; and all other eminent guests and participants at the Summit for the honour of the invitation.

Sustainable development is spiritual before it becomes structural.

History will not ask how beautifully we spoke. It will ask what we had the courage to build.

Let us build.

In his acceptance speech, delivered on behalf of the newly elected executives who will steer the affairs of the union for the next four years, Hon. Rtn Muodielo expressed profound gratitude to the people of Otolo Nnewi for the trust placed in him and his team.

He thanked the Board of Trustees, Quarter Presidents General, Committee Presidents General, Ward leaders, and the entire community for finding them worthy of leadership.

Acknowledging the weight of the mandate, Hon Rtn Muodielo noted that it's no small feat for a town to entrust someone with such responsibility, and that the outcome reflects the confidence and belief the people have in his capacity to serve.

He described the task ahead as demanding but pledged that his administration would work diligently and live up to the expectations of the people.

He assured Ndi Otolo that the new leadership would not betray the trust reposed in them.

The President General-elect also paid tribute to the outgoing executive led by Hon. Amobi Adiukwu, (Ikemba Otolo), commending them for the foundation they laid and the pace they set for the incoming team.

In his remarks, Hon. Adiukwu recounted key achievements of his tenure.
He highlighted that under his leadership, the union acquired vehicles for its operations—assets it did not possess before he assumed office.

He further stated that while he inherited a treasury balance of less than Three Hundred Thousand Naira only (₦300,000.00), he was handing over Three Million Naira only (₦3,000,000.00) to the new administration, a reflection of prudent management and growth during his term.

The event drew notable dignitaries and community leaders, including Obi Umunnem Obi Obiekosi, PG Nzukọ-Ora Nnewi Prince Jude Osumuo, PG Umuenem Hon. Joeplana, Arch. Paul Ileka (Solid Base), Nnewi North Executive Secretary Hon. Emeka Okafor, Ezeakukwu Emma Nsoedo, Hon. KC Ọnụ Chukwu Digital, among others.

Christianity EtcFr Ebube Muonso Is A Distinguished Charismatic Cleric: Nowaj Anambra Chapter by grassrootsig(op): 9:55pm On May 11
The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chibuzo Obimma, popularly known as Fr. Ebube Muonso has received an award of excellence as ‘Distinguished Charismatic Cleric’ from the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Anambra State Chapter.

The award was presented during a courtesy visit at the Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church, Umudioka, Dunukofia Council Area which coincided with the Fathers’ Sunday Celebration at the parish.

Presenting the award, the Chairperson of the State Chapter of NAWOJ, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika described Rev. Fr. Obimma as a servant of God whose service to God and humanity have been transforming lives and winning souls for Christ.

Comrade Ifejika stated that the Union adopted Rev. Fr. Obimma as their Spiritual Father for his charism, courage, humility and commitment in using his personal resources to touch lives, urging him not to relent.

Responding, Fr. Ebube Muonso appreciated the award and promised to hold NAWOJ members in prayers, while charging them to be objective in discharging their duties of disseminating news and information to the public.

Earlier in his Fathers’ Sunday message, Fr. Ebube Muonso noted that God created the man to be in charge of the family, adding that the fathers with their God-given powers as fathers, husbands, kings, and prophets should protect their home, show unconditional love to their wives, take responsibility, provide for their family and pray without seizing.

While interacting with the female journalists after the Mass, Fr. Obimma decried the systematic failure in Nigeria which he attributed to poor leadership adding Peter Obi is the only person that can rebuild Nigeria judging by his antecedents.

On the spate of insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, the cleric called on the leaders at all levels to put more efforts in the security of lives and properties of citizens while commending Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his courage in combating insecurity in Anambra State.

VALENTINE OZIGBO HONOURED WITH ‘UGO IGBO JI DI EBUBE’ CHIEFTAINCY TITLE AT 2026 IGU-ARO FESTIVAL

AWKA, Anambra State — Valentine Ozigbo, the award-winning global business leader and inspirational political figure, was on Thursday, May 7, 2026, conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title Ugo Igbo Ji Di Ebube by the Directorate of Igbo Village and the Institute of African Heritage Studies (IVIAHS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, during the 2026 Igu-Aro Festival.

The event, held at the ASUU Secretariat of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, drew a distinguished cross-section of Igbo society and formed part of the annual Igu-Aro Festival hosted by IVIAHS under the leadership of its Director, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. BonaChristus Umeogu, to commemorate the Igbo lunar calendar and celebrate the enduring values of Igbo civilisation.

Mr Ozigbo delivered the keynote address titled “From Calendar to Civilisation: Reclaiming Time, Leadership, and Destiny,” in which he described the Igu-Aro Festival not merely as a cultural observance, but as “a declaration of continuity, identity, and a civilisation that has refused to fade.”

“In the Igbo worldview,” he said, “time is not merely counted. It is interpreted, organised, and lived. It gives rhythm to work, meaning to seasons, structure to community, and direction to life.”

Explaining the philosophical depth of the Igbo calendar, Ozigbo noted that the traditional lunar system, structured around months, weeks, and market days, carried significance far beyond practicality. According to him, it represented an alignment of human activity with natural order — a framework in which the human, spiritual, and natural realms existed not in tension, but in harmony.

Drawing from scripture, including the Book of Daniel’s declaration that God controls times and seasons, Ecclesiastes’ reminder that there is a season for every purpose under heaven, and Genesis’ establishment of seedtime and harvest, Ozigbo argued that the Igbo ancestors, through their observation of the moon and the rhythms of the earth, were responding in their own cultural idiom to a deeper divine order.

“Igu Aro,” he stated, “is more than a cultural calendar. It is a recognition that life must be aligned with both natural order and divine timing.”

Speaking further, Ozigbo introduced what he described as the “Igbo Paradox” — the striking contrast between the extraordinary individual success of Igbo people across the world and the comparatively limited collective institutional power of the Igbo nation.

“The Igbo people are among the most enterprising people anywhere in the world — from Onitsha to Aba, from Lagos to London, from Johannesburg to Houston — the Igbo presence is rarely passive,” he said.

Yet, he argued, individual brilliance had not sufficiently translated into collective transformation.

“We have brilliance, but not always coordination. We have wealth, but not enough enduring institutions. We have energy, but not enough alignment.”

According to him, the challenge was not a lack of talent or capacity, but a crisis of leadership and the decline of genuine eldership — an eldership measured not merely by age or status, but by clarity of vision and courage of action.

“This is where many societies begin their decline,” he warned. “Not because evil suddenly becomes stronger, but because those who should restrain it become quiet. Those who should guide become cautious. Those who should stand become calculating.”

Ozigbo, a Chevening Scholar, further stressed that culture alone was insufficient if it was not translated into institutions, systems, policies, habits, and repeatable structures.

“Enterprise must mature into institutions. Wealth must mature into legacy. Influence must mature into organised power,” he declared.

In his concluding charge to the hundreds of young people in attendance, Ozigbo reminded them that they were not merely attending a cultural festival, but inheriting a responsibility.

“You must move beyond hustle and build structure; move beyond talent and build competence; move beyond ambition and build impact,” he charged.

Reacting to the conferment of the chieftaincy title, Ozigbo — who was recently appointed Visiting Associate Professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he teaches postgraduate MBA students in Organisational Leadership and Ethics — pledged to continue defending and advancing the Igbo cause “in all ramifications.”

A host of dignitaries attended the event, including the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Anyaehie, represented by Prof. Kingsley Ubaorji; HRM Obi Dr. Gibson Nwosu, the Ezeuzu II of Awka, represented by Otutu Awka; and HRM Igwe Sir Obumneme Ralph Ekpeh, the Eze Enugu-Ukwu na Igwe Umunri.

Also present were Rev. Fr. George Adimike, Rev. Fr. Kizito Umennadi, Sir Nze Afam Gabriel Okpalauzuegbu, Dr. Mirian Ngozi Alike, Hon. Chinedu Odozor, Chinyere Nwafornta, Chidi Amaeze, Barr. PoliticsThe Case For Prepared Representation, Introducing Hon Ogoo Umeh by grassrootsig(op): 3:57pm On May 02
INTRODUCING: DAME OGOCHUKWU MARY UMEH.
THE CASE FOR PREPARED REPRESENTATION.

Ndi Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency,

The 2027 race for the House of Representatives is not about popularity.
It is about *preparedness*.

Today, the *Hon Ogoo Umeh Media Team* formally presents a candidate whose life’s work has prepared her for this moment: *Dame Ogochukwu Mary Umeh.*

*WHO SHE IS:*
An *astute businesswoman* with footprints in Lagos and Germany.
She understands trade, enterprise, and the policies that either grow or kill business.

A *counsellor of great repute* — trusted by families, leaders, and communities to guide, mediate, and resolve. Legislation is human management at scale.
She has done it for years.

A *philanthropist* whose giving is not seasonal or political.
Her interventions in education, healthcare, and youth support across our constituency predate any campaign.

*WHAT SHE BRINGS:*
Dame Ogochukwu is sufficiently *educated for the job*.
She holds a *BSc in Business Administration* and an *MSc in Organizational Behaviour*.
That means she understands systems, people, structures, and performance — the exact skillset needed to turn constituency needs into functional laws and oversight that works.

*WHY APGA. WHY NOW.*
She is seeking the mandate of Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency under *APGA* — the party of our people, built on community and progress.

This constituency is the industrial and commercial heartbeat of Anambra.
It cannot afford a representative who is learning on the job.
It needs a voice that is *global in exposure, local in commitment, and technical in approach.*

*THE OGOO UMEH DIFFERENCE:*
1. *Global Business Acumen* — To attract investment and federal attention to our markets and industries.
2. *Behavioural Science Expertise* — To craft policies that actually change lives, not just headlines.
3. *Proven Compassion* — To ensure governance has a human face.

GENERAL CHIKELUE ILOENYOSI: RETURNING THE SOUTH EAST TO THE PITCH

... the right man for the job!

By Hon Bona Ogbonna.

For too long, the South East has been a spectator in a game we used to host.

Time there was when Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enyimba Stadium, and Dan Anyiam Stadium etc roared with the Super Eagles, the Flying Eagles, the Golden Eaglets.

Time there was when national team camps opened in Enugu and Owerri and Oba, not just Lagos and Uyo.

Time there was when our boys didn’t have to travel 10 hours to be seen by national team scouts.

Those days didn’t disappear by accident.
They disappeared because we had no strong voice on the board of the Nigerian Football Federation.
No one to fight for our stadiums.
No one to demand our share of national engagements.
No one to remind the occupants of the glass house that the South East is not just a talent factory — it is a football capital.

THAT ENDS NOW.

General Chikelue Iloenyosi has declared for Member of the NFF Board, representing the South East.

And this is not a ceremonial bid. This is a rescue mission.

THE MAN BEHIND GENERAL

He didn’t buy the name “General”. He earned it on the pitch.
This is a man whose blood is green-white-green.

*As a Player:* He started his football career at Nipost FC Enugu, then Calabar Rovers, Udoji United, Enugu Rangers, El-Kanemi Warriors, and Iwuanyanwu Nationale.

He carried our flag abroad — Fenerbahçe S.K. in Turkey, Tennis Borussia Berlin in Germany, Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey, Al-Ittihad in Libya, Asteras Tripolis in Greece.

He represented Nigeria, at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship and Super Eagles with 15 caps, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic soccer Team.

He wore the jersey.
He felt the pressure.
He knows what it means to represent.

*As an Administrator:* He is the Current Chairman, Anambra State Football Association. He was the former SSA to NFF President Amaju Pinnick. He was named FA Chairman of the Year at the 2024 Sportsville Awards for grassroots development.

He doesn’t just talk football. He runs football.

*As a Builder:* He is one of the founders and President, 042 Football Legends Association — a charity organisation that feeds, houses, and heals forgotten ex-footballers and the families of our late heroes.
He runs mentorship programs for young players who have talent but no pathway.

He takes care of the past while building the future.

Brand Trust: He was Unveiled in 2022 as Brand Ambassador of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FCT Correspondents Chapel.
When journalists trust you, it means you’re clean.

WHY GENERAL ILOENYOSI ON THE NFF BOARD CHANGES EVERYTHING FOR THE SOUTH EAST

1. *Stadia Come Alive Again:* General knows every pitch in this region. He knows which ones need lights, which ones need grass, which ones need FIFA approval. With him on the board, the excuse of “no suitable venue” dies. U-17, U-20, Super Eagles qualifiers will return to Enugu, Aba, Owerri, Nnewi. Our children will watch their heroes live.
2. *Talent Stops Wasting:* The South East is blessed with a bundle of football talents. But scouts go where the games are. No national games, no scouts. General will pull national team camps, age-grade tournaments, and screening exercises back to our zone. Our boys won’t need to beg for trials in Lagos.
3.*Administrators Get a Voice:* We have good football administrators in the South East. But they have no seat at the table where decisions are made. General is one of us, and he’s been in the room with Pinnick, with FIFA, with CAF. He speaks boardroom and he speaks street. He will carry our memo and bang the table until it’s approved.
4.*Ex-Footballers Get Dignity:* Through 042 Football Legends, he’s already doing what the NFF should do — care for our heroes. Imagine what he’ll do with federal backing. No more legends dying broke. No more widows forgotten.
5. *The South East Agenda Returns:* For years, we’ve been an afterthought in NFF calendar. With General as South East board member, the region will start hosting national teams at various levels. Not by lobbying. By right.

This is not sentiment. This is strategy.

You don’t send a lawyer to negotiate player welfare.
You send a player.

You don’t send a contractor to certify pitches. You send a man who has bled on them.

You don’t send an outsider to fight for the South East. You send General.

He’s been to Europe. He’s seen how Turkey treats Trabzonspor, how Germany treats regional FAs.

He knows what a functioning system looks like. And he knows we deserve better than handouts and friendly matches.

The NFF Board is not a retirement club. It’s a war room.
For TV rights, for sponsorships, for hosting rights, for slots.

We need a soldier who has worn the jersey, chaired a state FA, and still picks calls from broken ex-players.

That soldier is General Chikelue Iloenyosi.

So to the delegates voting in this NFF election:

Don’t vote a name. Vote a network.
Don’t vote a title. Vote a track record.

Vote GENERAL.

Bring the games back home.

Return the South East to the pitch.

SR. MARY MARTHA OZIGBO: A LIFE FULLY SURRENDERED TO GOD

A few days ago, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Nkpor, we stood with hearts heavy with grief, yet gently lifted by gratitude, as we committed my dear sister and aunt, Reverend Sister Mary Martha Ozigbo, into the hands of the God she served so faithfully for 49 unbroken years.

Sr. Mary Martha did not merely wear the habit—she became it.
In a world that constantly beckons with comfort, recognition, and personal ambition, she chose a different path: the narrow, beautiful, and demanding way of total consecration.

She was a sister not just by title, but by spirit—marked by sacrifice, humility, and a quiet, enduring love that touched every life entrusted to her. There was something about her presence—gentle yet profound—that made one feel that grace was not distant, but near… alive… tangible.

To the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to all whose lives she touched in ways seen and unseen, and to the Body of Christ that journeyed with her through these 49 years—thank you. Thank you for nurturing her vocation, for walking with her, and for being her family within her sacred calling.

Adieu, my dearest sister.

The race you ran was long—and you ran it with unwavering faithfulness. Heaven’s gates, we trust, have opened wide to receive you—not because you were without fault, but because you were wholly surrendered.

May the Lord who called you now grant you eternal rest.
May perpetual light shine upon you.
And may we, whom you have left behind, be strengthened by the grace of your intercession.

Rest in peace, Sr. Mary Martha Ozigbo.
Rest in the loving arms of the God you served so well.

Christianity EtcMy Friend & Classmate, Rev. Fr. Jude Nwankwo, Is 25 Yrs In Priesthood Val Ozigbo by grassrootsig(op): 7:37pm On Apr 17
Last Sunday, I was honoured to be present to celebrate the 25th Priestly Ordination Anniversary of my dear friend and high school classmate, Rev. Fr. Jude Ikechukwu Nwankwo.

Fr. Jude’s journey over the past two and a half decades has been one of service, humility, and steadfast faith. From our early days at Christ the Redeemer College, Amesi, there was always a quiet strength about him—a deep sense of clarity about who he was and what he was called to do. Today, that same conviction has touched countless lives, offering hope, guidance, and light in moments when it is needed most.

It is a rare blessing to witness someone you grew up with live out their purpose so fully and so selflessly. It challenges one to reflect more deeply on impact, meaning, and legacy.

Congratulations, my brother. Your life is truly a testament to grace in action. May the years ahead be filled with even greater strength, wisdom, and divine favour as you continue to serve God and humanity with such distinction. Amen.

I also commend many of our schoolmates who showed up and contributed prayerfully and financially to the success of the celebration.

I am especially delighted that one of our teachers from those formative years, His Eminence, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, was present to grace the occasion. I also appreciate the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, and many other priests, religious and important guests for joining in the celebration. Special appreciation to the Igwe of Ichida and my good friend, His Majesty, Igwe Charles Ezeudogu, the Igwe Ohazurunye of Ichida, who turned up with his cabinet chiefs and family.
