Peter Obi and Angry Drivers A few hours ago, we left Anambra for Kogi State. As we reached Unobe, a town in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, we encountered a long line of stationary vehicles stretching for about half a kilometre. Upon inquiry, we learned that the police had shot the tyre of a trailer driver, leading all the trailer drivers at the scene to block the road in protest. True to his nature, Mr. Peter Obi got out of the car and walked towards the epicentre of that earthquake of protest that was simmering. As he approached, the tense atmosphere among the commuters quickly turned cheerful, with chants of “Our President!” echoing from Igbos, Yorubas, and Hausas alike. When Obi reached the Hausa driver, who had been crying over his damaged tyre, the man’s mood shifted instantly. Rather than continue his lament, he began taking selfies with Mr. Obi, and soon, an epidemic of selfies broke out among the crowd. Without even waiting for Obi to plead with him, the driver exclaimed in Hausa (as translated by those nearby), “Who am I for Obi to beg me?” Immediately, he cleared the road, much to everyone’s relief. In the attached picture, you’ll see the driver in a brown caftan taking a selfie with Obi, along with commuters either taking their own selfies or expressing their thoughts on the incident. Rather than continue his lament, the driver began taking selfies with Mr. Obi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHOKke7eXAk?si=iCP7Oiy0U6q1RY0h

2025: I’ll contest for Governor, Soludo has failed Anambra people – Moghalu Immediate past Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr George Moghalu has declared his intention to run for the governorship position of Anambra State. Moghalu who spoke with journalists in his home in Nnewi on Saturday morning said the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has failed the people, hence the need to vote him out in next year’s governorship election. There has been speculation that Moghalu may be contesting for the Senate to fill the vacant seat left in Anambra South by the demised senator, Ifeanyi Ubah, but he insisted that he had no such ambition. He said: “I will be contesting for governor next year and not the Senate. I recently resigned from APC, and on October 1, I joined the Labour Party. “Before I did so, I consulted my wife and children, my followers and friends, and I was convinced that the Labour Party is the party that aligns with my person, and the best suited platform to realize my ambition. “We need to redeem Anambra fast because Soludo has failed the people. There is a dearth of infrastructure in the state, security has collapsed. “We will not tolerate him further. What he could not do in four years, he will never be able to do in eight years. You don’t need eight years to develop Anambra.” The former APC chieftain acknowledged that there is a zoning arrangement in the state, and that southern Senatorial zone where he and Soludo hail from is favoured for the contest. He vowed to do only one term if he wins the seat, so as to complete the turn of the South, before the position moves to the central zone. On why he left APC, which is the ruling party at the centre, where the federal government may likely work in his favour, he insisted that every politics is local, and that it would be the decision of Anambra people to vote any party, and not for the federal government to choose for the people.

The South East Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Dozie Ikedife (jnr) has dismissed the September 28 local government election in Anambra State as a show of shame. Mr Ikedife (jnr) in an interview, at the weekend, said it was unfortunate that the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo engaged in an exercise that could not be accepted anywhere in the world and called it local government election. He disclosed that his party, the APC, boycotted the election because they predicted that there would not be due process in the exercise, adding that the Governor proved his party right at the end of the day. He alleged that even the political parties that participated were brutalized. “I’m very saddened by what happened in my town, Nnewi North Local Government Area where a Councilorship candidate under the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP), a physically challenged, Hon Okonkwo Onyemaobi was brutalized. “In most parts of the country, physically challenged persons are treated with a lot of respect. But government and its agents decided in their wisdom or lack of it to brutalize the physically challenged. He was hospitalized because he was teargased by agents of the government. It’s very sad. “We’re also told that voting did not take place in Nnewi North. I don’t know about other local government areas. Voting did not take place in my ward, and some places where materials came, there were no result sheets. “I’m not complaining about that because we knew it was going to be like that. Government has proved us right. “But I’m saddened because of the attack on that YPP Councilorship candidate and I have gone to commiserate with the young man who had his hope on democracy and aspired to represent his people, “he noted. Mr Ikedife (jnr) said in a democratic setting that people should be allowed to exercise their franchise. He added that what happened on September 28 in Anambra should not be allowed to stand as people did not exercise their franchise. He said even though the APC opted out, those who wanted to participate should have been allowed to do so. He declared that his concern was that people were not allowed to vote. “So, the government is still dancing gwo gwo gwo ngwo with the sensibilities of Anambra people. “From what the government is doing, we knew from the onset that they don’t have the intention to conduct credible, free and fair local government election. “We anticipated that they were not prepared and was not going to follow due process. ‘So when we looked at all the indices we knew it was going to be a show of shame. That was why APC went to court to force government to follow due process. “We agreed that local government election should be done, we have been agitating for local government election but we want our democracy to thrive by following due process. “If the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission is to conduct any election, it should come up with proper timeline, proper guideline, obeying the rule of law, following established rules and regulations. “But the State government ignored all of these, so we opted out. We’re still in court and we are law-abiding citizens we are going to wait for the judgment of the case we filed in court. “Anambra State confirms its illegalities but we can’t stop them physically from swearing in the purported winners of the so-called election. We go to court. The court is there because we have the right and when we get justice everything will be upturned for the interest of citizens of Anambra State. “We won’t have such recklessness in the upcoming governorship election as exhibited by the State. The governorship election will be conducted by the INEC and the handwriting is everywhere that the electorate in Anambra are tired and are ready for change and we are going to have that change in Anambra. Anambra electorate will elect credible government credible, “he added. Ikedife said if by tomorrow Governor Soludo runs to the APC, that the party would not discriminate against him except that he would not be assured of automatic ticket. “If anybody joins the APC, we will receive the person. If it is somebody that has shown incompetence we will receive the person but may not allow the person fly the flag of the APC because APC is going to present a credible candidate to be at the helm of affairs so that Anambra can begin to enjoy dividends of democracy. That’s what will happen in 2025, “he assured. On getting a governorship hopeful that could be good, competent and generally accepted to win the election for the party, he assured that the APC as a party has a lot of credible and competent members to fill the gap. He disclosed that the APC already has people that have indicated interest in governorship of Anambra State. “I supported my brother Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to be the replacement for the current Governor of Anambra State but unfortunately he is no more. “However, we in the party are moving forward and we will find somebody that is as competent, as popular and generally accepted as the Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who will come to carry out the manifesto of the APC in Anambra State, “he concluded.

*_SEPTEMBER 28 HAS COME AND GONE_* September 28 has come and gone, leaving a trail of revelations. The local government elections in Anambra State unfolded predictably, with the ruling party emerging victorious. The entire process was marred by controversy, as it was clear from the onset that the election was deliberately orchestrated to favor the governor and his team. Any seasoned politician familiar with politics, should have recognized the series of law amendments by the State House of Assembly and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission ANSIEC, as a tactical ploy to secure victory for all the selected candidates on the governor's list. Regrettably, some individuals claiming to be members of the Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's political family and allies, proceeded to campaign and contest, demonstrating a clear lack of understanding of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's political principles and ideology. Rather than joining others in boycotting the elections, they hastily compiled names for their campaign rally, incorrectly associating Door-2-Door with their cause, which was promptly refuted. The devastating reality, is that Young Progressives Party YPP's failure to heed seasoned advice, has led to their downfall. They've now realized that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, was the backbone of their party, and without him, they're lost. Even those elected into both the National and State Assemblies under YPP, owe their victories to Ubah's individual efforts. YPP's decision to participate in the elections, despite knowing the outcome was predetermined, raises serious questions about their principles. Wisdom dictated that they should have joined forces with All Progressives Congress, APC and Labour Party LP, to contest the sudden amendment of the state's electoral law and the flawed election process. Instead, YPP chose to legitimize the irregularities, by campaigning and contesting. Their actions stand in stark contrast to the legacy of the late revered Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, whose memory they should have honored by boycotting the elections. A wise politician consults widely before acting, but YPP failed to do so. The evidence was in their unapproved linking of Door-2-Door to their campaign rally program. In contrast, Door-2-Door wisely boycotted the sham elections to honor Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's memory. Initially labeled enemies of progress, for deciding not to participate in the local government elections, Door-2-Door has now been vindicated, their wisdom and conviction shining like beacons in the darkness. As the late senator's burial approaches, it remains to be seen how YPP members will reconcile their actions with their expected show of grief. Their pretentious allegiance will be put to test. Will they shed crocodile tears or genuinely reflect on their actions? Only time will tell. The wind has blown, and the chicken's unclothedness is exposed. The true colors of YPP have been revealed, leaving much to be desired. Kate IG Okeke Secretary General, Door-2-Door 4 Sen Ifeanyi Ubah |

yinkus6750:Definitely, he will be replaced. |
It’ll be disrespectful for anyone close to Senator Ubah to be consulting at this time to replace him in Senate- Ikedife (jnr) The news trending on the social media that the South East Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Dozie Ikedife (Jnr) was consulting and had told his close friends that he was in the race to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah as the Senator representing Anambra Senatorial district has been refuted. Mr Ikedife (Jnr), who reacted, yesterday, in a telephone interview said the online publication with the caption “Five Nnewi politicians on the radar to replace Senator Ifeanyi” where his name was mentioned as among the five contesting to inherit the political structure of Ifeanyi Ubah was an embarrassment, falsehood, fake and misguided information to mislead the unsuspecting members of the public. According to the APC Chieftain, the report said that since Ifeanyi Ubah died, that Ikedife has been in the house of the late Senator in Abuja, receiving people who come for condolences. He wondered why a wrong meaning should be read into his closeness to Ubah’s family whereas the late Ubah was his political ally, a friend and his brother. He insisted that he never granted anybody an interview of any kind to declare his ambition or interest to replace Senator Ubah in the Senate when he was still in shock and in tears over the death of his brother. “He died and we are still mourning. We’re not going to start looking at strategies for any political interest till we honour our late brother, till we lower him to the grave. “Right now we still have tears in our eyes, we are still mourning, and we are still in shock. After the shock we then start making preparations on how to bury a national Icon, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. “You may remember that I was a key supporter of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for Governor of Anambra State come 2025 governorship election. It is most unfortunate that he did not live for us to actualize this ambition. “I am saddened by his sudden death and still in shock. Everyday, I think of his wife and his children “Those of us that were close to him are only thinking of how to continue to console his family and help plan the activities to honour him with a befitting burial. “We will not discuss partisan politics till we lay our brother to rest. We are waiting for his family to announce the funeral dates. "In my opinion, it will be disrespectful for anyone close to Senator Ubah to be consulting at this time to replace him in the Senate. "I have not consulted with anyone in that respect, please. This is an embarrassment, "he concluded.
