abinsco25: Ask those hypocrites that are against the merging of the schools in Osun state where there children schooling.None of them has his/her children in the public schools.Their children attend the best private schools pay their school fees with our money and the common man's children attend the debilitated public schools and our past leader care not.Our education needs a reformation,we can't continue with the Awolowo model schools, they are outdated, now that there is someone that is ready to reform the education system, they are now crying. Why? Let them cry!" Won a sunku ku ni,omo Ole"Aregbe carry on,2014 no shaking,Abere straight.By closing and merging schools build by past government? (The labor of our heroes past Shall never be in vain) No vex o make i ask you, is population of Osun state growing or decreasing? If growing as it should supposedly be how come closing/merging of school instead of building more? Many question begging for answer No wonder southeast/south has overtaken southwest in education |
Gbawe my guy no vex abeg may i ask you this 1 question What is the need embarking on project of 8.6billion when you can not afford to pay teachers salary. The touted Awo free education has gone to the dog chai! Bellow is the Nairalander discussion on the said Opon Imo, who knew that it will turnout like this... https://www.nairaland.com/1311395/opon-imo-launched-osun-today |
Atouke: You mean the opon imo? thats what that article was about. here is the fact Rauf released N8.5billion for 3500 units of opon imo to his son kabiru which on its own is very controversial interms of cost/nepotism. |
MOD, why is this revelation not on front page? |
eGuerrilla: Did @OP bother to verify any of the points raised in that article before going to town with his proclamations of ABSOLUTE guilt?See them! Osun state "has said", while the children said other wise. Am sure the Op is saying the whole truth if not for but Opon Imo scam |
Gbawe: Mumu, no one owes a prejudiced and hateful individual like you any explanation or back-and-forth discussion because your nauseatingly distasteful stereotyping of the Yoruba ethnic group, which your writing repeatedly bears out here, means it is only a foolish Yoruba person who will indulge a bigoted cad like you. That I have said what needs to be said about you and your ilk should not lead a wretched creature like you to believe I have time for your continuous 1diocy.I thought as much. Gbawe am a fool yes even stu'pid, but can never be a liar like you, what's your joy in telling lies? What will it profit you deceiving your fellow Yorubas with your lies there by forcing them to live in denial, as we all know, most of them are ignorantly following you, fight and defending Aregbesola ilks without knowing anything about their so called leaders. |
Gbawe: Then do so with common sense and a respect for others - especially if you are not in a position to know as much as they do. Inspect issues to discern that they make sense before trying to instigate others against their own leader who happens to be performing well for them as all of us Nigerians say we want. If you know Nigeria currently, then you will understand that the more a leader is rated a man of his people, the more the indolent and corrupt political establishment resents him and wish to pull him down. It is down to the people to give those leaders the protection the likes of Nkrumah, Lumumba et al never got to the detriment of their people. Not many, when they are enjoying the work of the man, will let you guys come here to trash Aregbesola with lies.Nonsense! We are only interested to hear more about 1) Opon Imo allegedly Scam 2)merging and demolition of schools Or keep quite for good |
Gbawe: As usual, it is those like you who are not from the south west, but full of indoctrinated hatred for the region and her people, who will be most negatively vocal and full of anger on a thread like this where issues under discussion do not concern you in any way at all. It may piss you off that the stakeholders themselves have given this garbage write-up short shrift but you should know you will always be exposed as ignorant when, out of hatred, you join issues that you know nothing about. Posters are dismissive of this article because it is a load of crap and a pack of lies even a child of six cannot take seriously. I am not surprised it is you guys with nothing to do with Osun or even the SW shedding blood here and making a fool of yourselves. Aregbesola's people love and appreciate him. They are bright and "sophisticated" enough to see what you hateful elements can never discern. The allegations are a disgraceful joke only your engine, moving on hate oil, revs to. The example below shows how much of a botch job this crap is.slowpoke we are talking about Opon Scam, here you are shamelessly displaying your stu pidity. Who cares who own ratcon company and when it was established Mr Gwawe answer me, how come only 200 students in whole local gvt have receive the so called Opon Imo "One of the most celebrated achievements of the Rauf Aregbesola’s government in Osun State in Opon Imo {Tablet PC} with inbuilt text books and past exam questions for WEAC and JAMB. The launch of the tablets and its distribution to students in the state was hailed and an innovative move by the state government by many. The N8.2 billion tablets christened Opon Imo may however take on a new name, some people have already christened Opon Scam because of new revelations coming out the procurement, configuration and distribution of the tablets. Kabiru Aregbesola, the 27 year old son of Ogbeni Aregbesola has been revealed as the brain behind the procurement of the tablets. Though the governor has laboured hard to deny the involvement of his son in the procurement, insisting that he only helped with software without invoicing the state, sources say the governor may be hiding the truth from Osun people and Nigerians. “ The governor actually believes Osun people are not intelligent and for that he is trying to cover our faces with wool. He has forgotten that at Ilesha, during the launch of the tablets, Tinubu was looking for Kabiru; they wanted to hide the boy as they did not want people to know that it was Kabiru that handled the project. It was Tinubu that exposed everything. He called Kabiru and said you are a billionaire now, announcing publicly that Kabiru is the brain behind the tablets”, the source said. Aside the above, there are concerns over the distribution of the tablets, as sources say that contrary to widespread propaganda by the state government, only very few of the tablets are in circulation. “In my own local government area, I don’t think we have fifty students that have the tablets and they are saying it on air that they have distributed it to all SS3 and SS2 students in my local. You can go round all the local government areas in Ife division comprising of Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Ife South and the Area Council Modakeke and you will not get more than 200 of the tablets. Let Aregbesola come out with his statistics and let him also take us to where the tablets are. This Opon Imo project is a scam in its entirety. It is another avenue for Aregbesola and his family to continue to steal the state blind. How can you procure tablets for N8.2 billion and we won’t feel it? It does not make sense”, a source said. " |
geeez: E dey pain some people as Yorubaland dey take developYou are the most celebrated fool of all time |
One of the most celebrated achievements of the Rauf Aregbesola’s https://m.facebook.com/pages/Segun-Akinwusi/1376151635956042?id=1376151635956042&_rdr This is unfair! |
Yorubas are sophisticated Indeed I must say that 99.7% posters here are stup id. None cared to tackle op base on the point he raised instead resort to name calling. am also inclined to want to believe what the op has posted especially about Opon Imo (Opon Scam) i humble ask somebody to come up with "fact" |
Me too need deliverance, but shame no go allow me go to that church. #Don't want my guys to laugh @ me |

Guy was he the commander in chief of Nigeria Army? Blame your brother, the general who only won Biafra war with help of USA, Britain, Egypt, Canada etc |

BY CLIFFORD NDUJIHE MS Ankio Briggs, rights activist and one of the leaders of the National Summit Group, says there is nothing to celebrate at 53 and the amalgamation of Northern and Southern protectorates to create Nigeria was a mistake. Excerpts: •How do you view Nigeria at 53? I’m yet to see what we are celebrating. If we are celebrating the fact that we have had independence for 53 years and lived together for a 100 years then, 100 is just a figure. When you are celebrating, you have to show what you have achieved. And the question I’m asking is what have we achieved? Unity? We are not united in this country. Developmentally, what have we achieved? I mean in things like roads and what have you? These are the things that should matter as we are progressing. We shouldn’t now be building roads at 100. We should be improving on what we have built may be at 30, 40, 50, 60, not starting the development of Nigeria after a 100 years of being together. So, for me, those are the things I use as yardstick to measure Nigeria. Like other countries are sending satelite into the space, Nigeria sent a satelite and lost it. So, we should ask ourselves if Nigeria is not too big a country to be governed the way in which we are being governed today? Should we not have states being responsible for themselves? This is why national conference is necessary. We have been like this for 100 years, aside the fact that we have been together and this is what everybody tells us as if it’s such a big deal to be together. America is still together and look at what they have achieved, likewise other countries. Other countries like the Soviet Union, Sudan, have broken up. For Nigeria, I think by age alone, we are matured enough to ask ourselves some questions and answer them in a truthful manner. We are just deceiving ourselves. •People have said the coming together of different parts of the country is a mistake, do you agree? I totally agree, but we can’t take responsibility for that, I might say, because it’s not Nigerians that created Nigeria. It’s Lord Luggard who created Nigeria that brought us together and called us one people. But it’s very clear today that that’s not so. The North is the North and the South is the South. These regions are made up of so many people with different cultures, religions, foods and different ways of looking at things. And when you bring them together to say they should look at things the same way, you are telling them to look at Nigeria in only one way. But one day, some of this people will wake up and say, look, things are not working for us this way. The people it works for will resist other people who don’t want the process to remain like that. So, this is the problem Nigeria is having and anybody that doesn’t see it like that is not telling himself the truth. •Do we have any basis for Nigeria’s unity? We have basis in the sense that it’s our choice. It should be our choice and it will be our choice, because that’s why we have these discussions going on now. I believe Nigeria can be a great country and that Nigerians can live together. Look at the circumstances we are in and we are still able to manage it and to drag it along. But we shouldn’t be managing. We should have some rules and regulations that we all accept. We should agree on how and when we are going to do it and once we agree, it will be much easier. The problem we are having is that we didn’t agree. And we have not found the basis on which we are agreeing. We must find that basis. It’s possible to live together. But the question is how? What are the terms and conditions? Nobody is saying we shouldn’t live together. We are saying how? Who brings what? Who owns what? Who controls what? How much should I bring? How much should you bring? How much What if we keep everything and pay something to the centre? These are the things we need to look at together. We can live together, but how? •Now, how do you think we can live together in peace and harmony in Nigeria? Well, it won’t be for one person alone. I can only speak for my people. Like for instance, I come from Rivers State, which is in Niger Delta region. For instance, most of what we are using to develop the country today is coming from my region, from my state. Now, all I’m saying is that that should not be so. It has made every other state which does not have oil not to bring anything to the table. So, what I’m saying is that we should have ownership of our resources and pay tax to the Federal Government. That way, everybody will be responsible for themselves. And then, we from the Niger Delta will not feel that the weight of developing Nigeria is on our back and that we as a people are not gaining anything from it. •What percentage of tax do you think the regions should pay to the centre? Taxes are usually 5 per cent, 2 per cent, 40 per cent and whatever. It’s something we must all agree upon. I mean, it’s not something that I will say, it should be like this. What percentage do you suggest? Well, I think 10 per cent. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/10/amalgamation-mistake-ankio-briggs/ |

By Chidi Obineche As the seconds tick towards the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State, major candidates in the race are discernibly mapping out voting blocs. Amongst those whose electoral enclaves are clearly emerging are the standard bearers of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Willie Obiano, that of the Labour Party (LP), Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, that of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Dr Godwin Ezeemo, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Chris Ngige. The confusion in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with three aspirants laying claim to the ticket has made it difficult to establish a clear picture. However the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has picked Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu. Based on this parameter, the voting history of the state, and other emerging dynamics, the election is gradually being narrowed down to a four-horse race. Obiano, Ubah, Ezeemo and Ngige have made tremendous inroads and impact. Despite the crippling crisis in APGA, the party on current standing is still popular and has indices that may help it retain the seat. As the party in power, the incumbency factor should not be underestimated. The current governor’s achievements in office, his government’s commitment to the mores, ethos and ennobling ideals of the people, especially in crime fighting has engendered a populist appreciation. The popular perception of the government is one that is focused, and people -oriented. National chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, who hails from the state describes Obi’s government “as the best, since the inception of the state”. A chieftain of the party and former governorship candidate in Abia state in the 2011 elections, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba says “It is very close to the people and understands their needs, despite criticisms from the opposition”. •POSSIBLE VOTING TREND The central senatorial zone may turn out to be a “Switch Zone”. It is about the most heavily populated zone in the state. The controversial 2006 population figures estimates the population of the zone to be over 1.6 million people. It is the zone of the sitting governor, Obi ,the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Victor Umeh, and the Deputy governorship candidate, Dr Nkem Okeke. Going by previous elections in the state, voters apathy is not very high. Indeed, it was said to have provided over half of the winning votes for Obi in both the 2003 and 2010 elections. The very heavily populated areas like Agulu, Enugwu Ukwu and towns in Awka North and South Local Government Areas (L.G.A), which always vote enbloc are expected to deliver huge votes to the APGA ticket. This domino pattern of voting has a remarkable tendency of making it a battleground for campaigns. The combined weight of Obi, Umeh, and Okeke in the zone will snuff-out Ngige of the APC who is also from the zone. In Anambra North, which has the toga of the unofficial anointed zone to produce the governor, sentiments are high amongst the voting populace. The people in the area see this election as the best opportunity for one of their sons to rule the state for the first time. Consciously, some of the parties took the ticket to the Zone. In this web is the APGA candidate Obiano This zone also has the distinguishing asset of harbouring riverine communities. These communities usually turn out to be battlegrounds and votes switching enclaves in crucial elections owing to the difficult terrains that curtail accessibility to all. •THE ELITE FACTOR Anambra state thrives on elitism. The elite corps in the state is equally intimidating and has a bandwagon effect on the proletariat class during elections. The south and central zones take over 75% of the elite in the state. Today, the elite in the state believe that Obi has done well. In an uncanny manner, Obi has pandered to their taste and interests especially on road construction and education. Ipso facto, it follows that given the background and intellect of Obiano and Okeke, their interests are secured. •RELIGION Catholicism is strong in the zone as in the south and definitely plays a defining role in the voting pattern. Obi, Umeh, Okeke, Obiano are all Catholics, Ngige is also a catholic. Catholics are said to be more numerous in the state. Core values Despite its unending crisis, APGA is still perceived by the vast majority of the populace as the heart and soul of the Igbo man. Although its leader and Igbo icon Chief Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu is dead, his memory, beliefs and image will surely stand in the gap in the voting process. •RHETORICS While Obiano and APGA are running high on several fronts, Ubah of the LP has tenaciously developed a high voters base through philanthropy and vigorous campaigns. He is spared of the siege syndrome imminent in most of the parties. While other candidates are busy sorting out themselves from all forms of crises, Ubah has engaged in grassroots mobilization and enthralling outreach. Till date, he is the only one that has formally flagged-off his campaign and has since taken the battle to the wards and local governments. His campaign flag-off in his stronghold of Nnewi in the south senatorial zone a forthnight ago was tumultuous. If that is anything to go by, then the other contenders must have to sit up. In the south where Ubah and Ezeemo come from, there is a perceptive sophisticated voting bloc. They read the lips, and see beneath the veneer. Their persuasions are different from the normal rhetoric. This is the home zone of the legendary Ojukwu. Ezeemo equally soars high in this zone based on his pedigree and philanthropy. The south is clearly a battleground for all the leading contenders. November 16 Recently, some politicians, especially those from the PDP hatched a plot to situate the choice of election date of November 16, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a grand design to neutralise the late Ojukwu’s popularity with that of Nigeria’s first president and political colossus, the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe (Zik). He was born on November 16, 1904. This sentiment, which at best could be a coincidence has been made a strategic campaign issue. Pitching the great Zik and the legendary Ojukwu has been a favourite past time of politicians since 1983, when the latter returned from exile in Cote’divoire. Zik is from the North, where a good percentage of the population are not given to “Igbo sentiments”. A high voters bandwagon stimuli is likely. Some biographical sketches •OBIANO: He is a distinguished banker and technocrat, proven public policy leader on economic development, financial accountability and human resource development in the state and Nigeria. He is the only one with television commercials and radio jingles running in major stations. This shows seriousness. He has done extensive road shows. Philosophy: Kinship values. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/politics/anambra-guber-strongholds-and-battle-grounds-of-the-leading-gladiators/ |
