Kirk admitting this does not make him less of Christian; it makes him human. Many of us here are quick to judge him because we do not know the background of the story! Kirk Franklin's mother abandoned him as an infant! He was adopted and raised by his aunt. Kirk never met his father until Kirk turned 53 years old. How difficult could one's childhood be?? We should cut him some slacks. Now, this story was a singular opportunity for his mum to make amends, yet, she walked out as usual. Before we cancel Kirk, I'd suggest all put ourselves in his shoes for a day! mbaise1000: |
I got to know this song in 2018. Up till now, I still haven't recovered from the impact of that song. Other powerful songs, I believe, you guys will like include: 1. No Longer Slaves by Bethel Music 2. New Wine by Bethel Music 3. What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong Music 4. Do It Again by Elevation Worship/Travis Greene 5. Reckless Love originally by Cory Asbury 6. Speak To Me by Kari Jobe 7. Wide As The Sky by Matt Redman |
Wow! This indeed is a great news! When it comes to ministry, Bishop Jakes is definitely a colossus, and I'm sure he will be a huge blessing to many people tomorrow. This means that in Abuja tomorrow, all roads lead to COZA. Well done Pastor Biodun; may your sun never go dim! |
It's sad that you came to some unfounded conclusions just because you want to play to the gallery. As your work on nairaland progressed, didn't your looks change for the better? Seun: |
merit455:It is not lies. I have actually listened to WE FM Abuja hold a show on this very topic/community during one of the episodes of Stanley Bentu's Morning Mojo show. So, it's very true. Thank you, op, for bringing up this issue to the public domain. |
betahost247:Thank you @betahost247. I actually did contact our web hosting provider. He said he has taken care of it, but alas, the problem is still persisting many months after. |

I just observed that all the foreign dignitaries stood up while shaking hands with the outgoing Nigerian President, while some dignitaries of Nigerian descent such as OBJ and IBB sat down while they shook hands with him. Did anybody observe that? |
henryadex:With rare exceptions, every applicant, including children, will pay a non-refundable US $ 160 application fee for tourism/business visas or US $ 190 for work visas in NGN equivalent at the Consular Current Exchange Rate at GT Bank. So, the US govt through their consular offices make a hell of money out of Nigerians. |
If you look closely at the figures, you'll realise that though the number of Nigerians who have been said to be criminals may be the largest among other African countries, Nigerians ratio of criminals to residents is actually the lowest. I also believe that the number of Nigerian achievers in the UK would surpass that of all other African countries put together! |

I think Geoffrey deserved the crown. I was in shock how Ruky clinched the 2nd position. On a second thought, I think I ought not to be taken aback by the voters' decision with respect to Ruky cos among the girls, she's the strongest contestant vocally. Her performances have also been stellar too. I actually thought that Emeka will be the 1st runner up. Even his performance today was excellent. Anyways, whether any of them won a prize or not, I firmly believe that Project Fame has provided all of them with a formidable platform on which they can launch their career from. Omawunmi didn't win but today, she's miles ahead of Timi, IMO. Kudos to all of them. |
Sorry guys, I forgot to state the source of my information. Here it is: http://www.ets.org/toefl/important_update/nigeria |
Hello Nairalanders. I have a good news for everyone. Education Testing Service (ETS) will be resuming GRE and TOEFL tests in Nigeria starting from January 25th, 2014. If you or anyone you know had scheduled to write his/her exam from late January upwards, say in Ghana or elsewhere outside the country, then be rest assured that you can reschedule your exam to Nigeria from Monday 13th January upwards. However, the exams will this time, take place only in Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt. The exact names and locations of the new authorized test centres is yet to be announced by ETS, but I believe it will be out by next week Monday. Well, I’m really glad for this development. Who else is? Moderator: Please take this to the front-page. Thank you very much. |
Big4wig: What can dis gay offer to dis ashewoSMH at some people who are very quick to give others a label. Well, maybe he(Uti) has hit on you before. |
Bossforeva: In the late 90s, Derico and his gang were also robbing bullion vans especially in Awka Road, Onitsha. At the end of the Operation they will take thier share and keep throwing many bundles to the people of the streets. None of Derico Sibling ever became somebody in life. They all died in robbery, Derico was like 21 when he died. I once met a man that knows Derico and his Family to heart after our Inter-house sport in the Lower Field of St Charles Secondary School Onitsha. He told us that the Only person surviving in their family was his Mum and last Child out of like Seven kids, the discussion was four years ago.@Bossforeva, you attended St Charles' Secondary or Special Science? If yes, which year did you graduate? I attended St Charles Special Science 99 set. Meanwhile, your article is sound and very enlightening. |
The reason stated by ETS for the suspension of both the GRE and TOEFL exams is very vague and ambiguous. The TOEFL test in Nigeria is hosted by different licensed firms and holds in about ten cities in the country namely: Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Jos, Minna, Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Owerri. The GRE test, on the other hand, holds only in Lagos and Abuja. I beg to disagree that all of these centres hosting the exams in Nigeria are indulging in malpractice. ETS should investigate thoroughly and sanction only the culpable centres, and ensure testing resumes in the country pronto. Worst case scenario, ETS/Prometric can set up centres in Nigeria that are solely manned by their staff or liaise with all the Education Advising Centres (EAC) in the US Consulate Offices in Nigeria to set up functional TOEFL and GRE centres asap. I advice them to borrow a leaf from GMAC/Pearson VUE with respect to how they dealt with the withdrawing of rights for hosting GMAT from the previous host in Abuja and gave same to British Canadian Int’l Edu (BCIE) Abuja. I do not know the reasons behind the change, but the whole process went underground very swiftly around Jan/Feb this year, and never raised any furore! This indefinite suspension adjudication is grossly unacceptable to us! |
@Kechpearl and Immortal, thank you both for your responses. It sure feels very sad to see the life snuffed out of such a promising chap. And it even saddens you the more when you know the victim in question! May God comfort his family and give them d strength to bear this great loss. |
Good evening peeps. This is indeed a very sad news. It is with trembling hands that I write to ask this question. I happened to have met a guy in 2010 who bears exactly the same name as that of the fallen corp member. However, the picture above, maybe cos it is a little blurred, does not fully look like him if I remember correctly. Oh, how I pray it's not him. A guy who goes by name Henry Amadi-Emina walked into our office in Central Business District, Abuja, in 2010 to make some findings about doing his masters degree abroad. He read Architecture or a related course in the uni and would want to do his masters in the same field. I think he attended Covenant University or one of the private schools in Nigeria. At that time, I think he was doing his IT in the nearby NNPC Towers. Please can someone tell me that the Henry I am describing is different from the one everyone is writing tribute to! Early this year (3 years after I met Henry), I went to a Full Gospel meeting in our estate and met one man, Mr Amadi-Emina. I asked him if he knows a boy called Henry who has the same surname as his and he answered in the affirmative that he is his son. A very peaceful man! Please can someone who knows Henry tell me that I am describing someone else? |
The GMAT, GRE and SAT may not be tests that measure how smart you are. Nor are they tests of your business acumen or even intelligent quotient. However, research has shown that they are good predictors of how well students will do in graduate and undergraduate schools. The GMAT, GRE or SAT score is the most important factor among the numerous admission criteria that the graduate school and college applicants can still do something about. At Synergy LifeLine Consulting, our GMAT, GRE and SAT courses are much more than clever techniques and powerful computer score reports. The reason our results are great is because our teachers care so much about their students. We also offer Registration and Test Prep Classes on TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE. Synergy Lifeline Consulting, offers classroom (day, evening and weekend plans), general, private and even small group tutoring, exam registration and admission counselling. Visit us today at 2nd Floor NICON Insurance Plaza, Central Bus Dist, Abuja, Mon – Sat. You can also reach us via these phone lines: 09-291-4972, 081-8656-6561, 080-3698-0584. Well, this is a welcome development. Nonetheless, we(the government) need to strive higher and apply the same muscle used in regulating the banking industry to regulate other facets of our economy especially crude oil and manufacturing sectors! |
I thought they said we do not have enough money to run government, hence the need to remove the subsidy on fuel. This is how they squander the same money they have taken from you and I in the name of subsidy removal and looting of our proceeds from crude oil. The corruption is so gross that you wonder whether the stupid Senate/House that passed the budget are living blind morons! So sad, people! |
@Bobby L, I totally agree with you on the Hypo advert. I may look dumb, but it actually had a great impact. Interestingly, my family now uses Hypo and it's kinda more effective than Jik, if u ask me. |
@Poster, much as I agree with some of the comments made here by fellow nairalanders, I object to suggest that you resign. See, from the little we've heard about gay people, they most likely would prefer to keep their sexual orientation a secret. Having said that, what I suggest you do is politely tell him NO and maintain your stand. Make sure you do your work in the office efficiently. That way, he would have no excuse to sack you. Infact, he would never sack you, cos he wouldn't want you to let the cat out of the bag concerning his sexual preference. A friend of mine (then, he was a teenager) was once harrased by a much bigger, muscular, senior gay student in the hostel. After several weeks of dodging and saying no to the senior's sex overtures, the guy still will not give up pestering him. One day, while the senior boy was still talking his usual rubbish, the little boy pulled out a bible tract from his wardrobe, gave it to him, asked him to go read it, come back to tell him what he thought about the little book. The senior boy picked it and NEVER came back to disturb him again. Maybe it's high time you did the same thing this little boy did! |
@Olodostein, I think I truly support your suggestion. Setting up a website(video/pictures) dedicated to x-raying all injustices meted out on the populace by the police which is updated daily could really help raise awareness. Also I believe that pioneering a TV talk-show that focuses on the Police criminal acts could help. For effective production/utilisation of such a program, a private TV (not NTA) would be preferable. RIP Emma! |
I have seen many interesting TV programs and I seriously do not know which ones to include or exclude. However, these few would suffice for now: PRIVATE PRACTICE GREYS ANATOMY PROJECT FAME THE DEBATERS MALTINA DANCE HALL SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE AMERICAN IDOL ( In fact I like almost all Singing and Dancing TV reality shows; Nigerian or Foreign) TINSEL , and others. Oh I almost forgot my all-time favorite: LIE TO ME!!! |
If am d one faced wit dis scenario, I'll tell d guy plainly to zip up. I actually did that 2 day. However, if it is a girl, I would tell another female preferably an elderly female to help tell d lady who's entertaining everyone. I wld also recommend same for a girl 2 a guy, though some guys wldn't even mind if a girl tell them straightaway. |
God!!! I didnt hear it. Kai, I don already lik dat guy's acting die! Anyhow, hopefully, we will get used 2 d new actor with time. My condolences to the deceased family. |
@OP, much as ur situation is critical, I do not tink it's d worst pipl hv experienced. All u need to do now is to look deep inside and ask God 4 wisdom & direction. Do not neglect to take up wateva job dt is within ur reach now, even if it is a teching job in any private Sec Sch arnd ur vicinity, as we r still in Sept & most schs r just resumin now. I suggest u do dis asap. Do not despise ur days of little beginnings. Finally, let u family knw ur financial situatn, & as someone rightly said here, do not feel bad abt wat u cannot do because u did nt hv d means. Trust God & He wil surprise u soon. Neva 4 once say ever. We all await ur success story. Cheers. |
