The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has spoken on the death sentence passed on Yahaya Aminu Sharif, a Kano singer, who was convicted by a Sharia court over blasphemy. Adeolu Samuel Adeyemo, CAN chairman in Kano state said the religious body was not in objection to the ruling because it is according to the position of Islam. Speaking with Guardian Nigeria, he said: “For us in CAN, the judgment of the Shari’a court is according to Islamic law and so we don’t have objection to it because it is according to the position of Islam. So, our interference is not relevant. Now, if you want to know the position of Christianity about blasphemy, I will say there is what you can blaspheme about and what you cannot. And the Lord Jesus said blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a grievous sin that has no forgiveness. That is the position of Christianity.” See MORE

The feline was detected by jail intelligence officials on Saturday at the high-security Welikada Prison, a police official said. He said nearly two grams of heroin, two SIM cards and a memory chip were found in a small plastic bag tied around the cat's neck. With schools reopening for graduating pupils this week after months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, parents of pupils in private secondary schools in Ogun State on Sunday kicked against the request of N25,000 COVID-19 test fee by the government. Many of the parents, who took their demonstrations to the streets, faulted the decision of the government to ask them to pay N25,000 on each pupil before they could be allowed to resume. The state government had said no boarding school pupil would be allowed to resume without a valid negative COVID-19 test certificate. The government also asked the parents to take their wards to designated places for the test between Friday and Monday. The dissatisfied parents on Sunday thronged the MTR 250 bed specialist hospital, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the designated place for the pupils in Abeokuta. Watch The Video HERE
