Asin hehn i just weaked. I feel there is a mentality that will defeat you before you even try. If you wanted friends and social validation and security why even leave home? I studied Mechanical engineering in Nigeria and couldn't even get a look in in Nigeria because i got a 2.2 but i was treated differently here and accepted, i will always say Australians aren't racist. Funny enough if anyone as ever treated me differently, it was in Nigeria Anyways, you can't save everyone. All we can do is drop good advise, and those who will listen will, those who won't just won't. |

soopamom:Again you misunderstand, you and i will never fully integrate here, i came at 33, i am never going to have the same mateship with people who were born and grew together and that is my point, Australians find it harder to let new people into their existing social circles, even other white people have reported the same, just moving from Sydney to Perth is a no no for lots of people and once they attempt it they experience the same. And as for you bottom feeder comment, make of that what you will, my reference is to ambition, not to people's station in life. I am telling all these people to come here with ambitions the size of mountains(not that religious mumbojumbo shit) and the cujones to back it up! And to avoid people who will put down your mentality, how is that a bad thing? You would have them socialise with white racist brickies/cleaners who will constantly tell them they are less then them or black people who have been here for ages and done nothing with themselves and would readily tell you its cos no one gave them a chance cos of their skin colour? The advise i have given these people is the same our parents gave everyone of us growing up, you are who you associate with, now maybe your understanding of what i have said is that every low skilled white person is racist or every low skilled black person is emotionally challenged, thats not what i meant to convey and thats missing the bloody point. The point is we do those jobs that allow us meet these people cos thats what we have to do to survive when we first come here. Don't become one of them, every society has its low, middle and upper classes, i am encouraging every immigrant here not to fall into the bottom rung, how is that a bad thing? Finally it says something that of the many positive points i have made, you would only pick the probably inelegant use of bottom feeder i used, so nothing else i said makes sense? 3 Likes |

nogara:You have Bsc Mech, apply for PR directly. All these 10s of millions you are mentioning, with maybe 2m, you will have PR and be done with it. Engineering mgt will not get you a job here mate, don't do it. Its for people who studied engineering here, have established engineering careers here and are just seeking an uplift. |

chigrad:I am sure i have said teaching like 599 times and not education, if you apply for a PGD in education you are on your own. Again spin some cock&bull story in your SOP, about how you were a teacher in NYSC, about how you were a lesson teacher in uni, about how you have a passion for fixing the future of Nigeria by catching kids young before they lose their way. Its just story telling Again when ever you see a skill on SOL, google its ANZSCO code (its the set of numbers beside the skill) and make sure you masters will give you those skills. Chemist doesn't necessarily equate to studying chemistry oh. Finally, different assessment bodies have different levels of difficulty, if you course will fall under vetassess or Australian Institute of Management, please avoid that course, especially AIM, you will need like 7years of post study experience to pass it oh 1 Like |

Hi everyone. If you are coming here solely to chase residency and you have a core science background (meaning you studied Maths, Physics, Chemistry, IT, Engineering, Biology etc) and you wana go by the study route (that is using school here to get PR), a cheap and tested option is to come and do the PGD in teaching (not education oh, TEACHING). Its relatively cheap, its only 12 mnts and it will get you PR. Ofcos you have to apply for another course at the end of this PGD while you PR is loading but you can then do any course your heart truly desires, knowing fully well your PR is in the pipeline. And the beauty about it is you can work as a teacher and earn good money while studying that course you originally wanted to study. Please reconfirm which of the levels is on the SOL again as there is preschool teacher, primary school teacher and secondary school teacher and i believe at this time they are still all on the list. For now SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER is best, however, always check before you apply. Another benefit of using a 12month course to chase PR is you can be done before immigration rules change again. And did i mention its relatively cheap and teachers earn good money? Yes I did |

deratus:You do not know the realities of living abroad yet Someone like you won't want to do aged care so oh Mate that course left SOL like 24months ago. To cut it short, its the sort of course you finish, do post study for two years and go back home. And believe me when i say they are not kidding in Australia about you going back home |
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by gunpoint(m): 6:54am On Apr 14, 2018 |
meelife:Did you consult the SOL? Do you want PR or you want to to change the world? I have no visibility of these courses, will just advise you to do your research thoroughly. For someone with a Bsc in Chemistry, i would advise a PGD in education, then a masters in anything u like. The catch is u can get PR with a PGD education, after that u can do space chemistry if you like. But get your PR 1st then follow your passion |

Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by gunpoint(m): 6:46am On Apr 14, 2018 |
Britekestro77:To be quite honest you have probably already stuffed up. You are required to be totally honest in you application and you were supposed to have listed all your educational attainments. You listed OND as you highest quals so turning around to now list a Bsc will probably raise a red flag. Be that as it may, to answer your question, your background sound well/best suited for an Msc in social work. So try for that and see how it goes |

tonyik:Also to have a higher chance of getting a visa. As for fees, you will have to find that out yourself. Just be mindful that some of the easiest courses to get pr on today are nursing, teaching (not education oh, i repeat teaching, the course has to say teaching) and social work. soopamom:Did you come to Australia to socialise or make money? If you came to socialise then Australians are cliquishness not racist. Even Poms(white immigrants from the UK) who come here have complained to me that Australians will not mix with them, tough luck. If you have come for money or career reasons then Australia isn't racist and that is where i draw the line with you Institutionalised racism claim. I am not the only Nigerian or black person at my company, as a matter of fact my company has a stated policy to recruit internationals for diversity reasons, so i dare say if you and a white male rank same in all their metrics, then you will be hired and my company isn't the only one like that. I cannot tell you how many people told me that it cannot be done to get into that organisation, that they would never hire black people, well guess what? They do hire black people, i was not the first and since i got in, i haven't been the last. We even have a parapo association now. Believe what you will about the country, and maybe you are just planning to come or are new here. My advise for you would be to fix your mindset. Thats what i tell every young person coming here. Also as much as i advised cutting off black bottom feeders, cut off uneducated/unexposed white people too. I see them everyday at my job, but their bad belle does not affect me, cos they answer to me and not the other way around. 3 Likes

soopamom:Let me tell you my story, i came to Australia/WA in only 2015. Every low level tom, dick and harry i met told me Australia is racist, one Zambian tw.at even asked me to drop my Nigerian name and get a white name to fool people into thinking i was aussie until it was too late and they meet me as a black dude at the interview, that was bloodly hilarious in retrospect. So i cut off all thosr naysayers Australia isn't racist, what you get out of it depends on who you associate with. So my first advise for new immigrants to Australia, stay away from as many black people as you can, especially those that you can see have been here for long and made nothing of it (Sudanese etc). Listen i have posted my story here on this very thread before. It isn't unique to me, i have white people i work for and who work for me, Australia isn't racist, you are the one who is responsible for making yourself a 1st class or 3rd class citizen here. It is what you make of it really 3 Likes |

tonyik:Then your wife is a great candidate within the correct age limit. Best advise is she should be the one to apply to sch here, as you have read countless times, she must study, nursing (very expensive but almost 100% postgrad employment rates), education(also very good prospects with very good work hours but with ielts requirements to get in of S8, L8, R7.5, W7.5) or finally social work which appears to be the easiest to enter and for which her currently ielts(if its academic) should be sufficent for |

jolanrewaju:I beg to differ. Like some people have said many times before, Nigerians write the shittiest SOPs on the planet. Tell the visa officer why you want to study that course, how it relates to you past life experiences (doesn't have to be work related, personal is good too) and what you intend to do with this education when you return to Nigeria(yes you must state that you are coming back in you SOP) . Basically, tell a compelling story 2 Likes |
