Hello Nairalanders,
I usually come on here to read posts and information. I normally don't post. I must say a very big thank you to Nairaland. This platform was very instrumental to my success today. At exactly 8am today, i was granted F1 visa to study in America at the US embassy in Abuja, after seeing three persons get denied F1 Visa. Here is my interview script.
Me: Good morning sir
VO: Good Morning, can i have your passport?
Me: I gave him my passport and was looking staright into his eyes and tried as much as i can to maintain my composure and i remained confident.
VO: Can i have your I-20 and sevis payment confirmation forms?
Me: I passed them to him.
VO: what are your plans to the United states?
Me: I going to study MSc Healthcare Administration and after which i intend to come back to my home country to take up leadership and managerial roles at NGOs such as UNICEF and WHO, and other public health sectors in Nigeria.
VO: What is the name of the university you are going to attend?
Me: Stratford University.
VO: How did you hear about this University?
Me: A friend of mine who attended the university told me about it. Then i went on to research about the university and i found out it offers course i am interested in.
VO:Did you apply to other universities?
Me: Yes
VO: what other universities did you apply to?
Me: University of Michigan, University of Washington and University of North Carolina.
VO: why did you choose Stratford university over these other ones?
Me: The tuition fee is relatively cheap compared to the other universities. Also the MSc Healthcare adminstration in Stratford university contains modules/subjects that i am interested in, unlike the other universities.
VO: You applied for a visa to attend a conference in America earlier this year(february) which was denied?
Me:Yes
VO: paused, takes a glance at his computer and then he said "But you already have a masters"
Me: yes, Masters of Science in Public Health from England.
VO: Why then do you want to acquire another masters?
Me: I have tried applying for Leadership positions at NGOs such as UNICEF and WHO upon my return to Nigeria, but they keep requesting for MSc healthcare administration for such roles.
VO: I want to give you visa, issues me the white paper.
Me: Thank you sir.
VO: Pick up your Visa and passport in Two days time from ************** address. And make sure you travel to the US on time.
Me: Thank you sir. I was super excited but could not even show it, i don't know why.
I wore my very expensive Italian suit that fits perfectly on my body with my golden rolex watch. I made sure he was seeing my rolex watch as he interviewed me Lol. It is psychology, show them you are not broke. Once again, Thanks to you guys, you all made it possible!!!!!!!
NB: He didn't ask me for any document, not even a bank statement. I am eternally grateful to God.

Congratulations Orpheus though you are not a regular here, you have internalized the ethos of this thread, we could not ask for more. Congratulations once again bros, enjoy your time in obamaland

pls house I used a bank syatement ending in early March to get my form I-20 but have a visa interview for June ending. the account has since depleted due to the current economic situation. can I still attend the interview with ds same old bank statement?

Old bank statements raises questions, if you are put on Administrative Processing (AP) and you are found guilty not of outright fraud but misrepresentation, jungle fit mature for you, so look for a new account or wait till the previous one bulks up. The gurus here might have a better advice though.

Yes oga justwise can I post a picture of my visa here without being banned? I sent a mail for my account to be but I have withdrawn cus me sef wan face the nairaland bullies abeg if its comes through don't deactivate and any other supermod reading this.. Thanks..

It took me a long time to decide whether to simply ignore this or respond, I can see DareFadi commenting on frankly what he knows nothing about.

I have always advocated for all for one and one for all and of course that will never change because without it Nigeria as a group in diaspora will not blossom and frankly with the increasing inequality of wealth occasioned by global capitalism, the current isolationist self-intrested economic structure will not last long.

Dickoflife got his visa after reading through and becoming quite popular on this thread, it was expected of him to share his transcript after getting his Visa, He shared his transcript with me but I called him out on not sharing it with the house, I do not think his reasons holds up to serious scrutiny. I think at this point I have to clarify my relationship with him, I count him as my closest friend on this thread, we made plans together and spoke several times daily.

I called him out today when he decided he was going to quit the thread like some kind of injustice was meted out on him, he went on and on about how I was warriboy21 's boy, I respect warriboy21 he helped pay my SEVIS fee and that of countless others on this thread, he earned his brass, you have not and thankfully he is not dead, did I at any point ask you for an airport pick up or favor save the payment of my SEVIS fee?.

In private some suggested you were not given visa , I refuted it by telling them, though I think you are a 'deliverance case' you did not lie about the visa and repeated same to you. I stand by initial position, tone down your rhetoric, post your transcript not your Visa( we have each others copy) and please don't quit this thread, the future students need you. Talk to you soon

Me: Please I cant hear you clearly Sir
Vo: what course did you study
Me: Chemistry
Vo: you have Masters degree
Me: Yes I have masters degree
Vo: What course..

As some airlines are puling out, the ones left may gradually begin to increase their fares.
Emirates was 183k yesterday, now 286k. less than 24hours interval.

Could other forces be responsible?

The only force responsible is the force of demand and supply, I just checked now and found out that the cost of flights in the past 3 days has been jacked up by between 50-70k in one week. There are two types of inflation here Demand pull inflation occasioned by the pulling out of their competitors and cost push as all airlines will now convert their naira to dollars through 'autonomous sources' for repatriation through the AFEX which is just a form of a Second Tier Foreign Exchange Market ( think official black market). My advice well as an economist nothing is certain but if i were you if it comes down to say 240-250k I would book, lets say the flight to the US costs $915 which is the avg price when quoted in dollars, you get 915*199 equals #182085 at the 'official rate' lets assume the AFEX will be priced slightly above the current interbank market rate of the dollar of #275 lets just pick an arbitrary price of #305 (which is incredibly optimistic IMHO) 915*305 equals 279075 which is closer to the rates you are seeing. So it all makes sense kinda
