lAGOS — Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, are said to have arrested the mother of a gang member, who also served as the amourer to the group led by the notorious one-eyed robbery kingpin, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo, arrested in Lagos, last week

She was said to be the keeper of the rifles they used in raiding banks in Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states.

Also nabbed, yesterday, was the key receiver of goods stolen by the gang.

The arrest resulted from the deployment of operatives to some South-Western states to track down members of the gang.

According to a usually reliable source, “all the suspects are now in custody and we are bringing them to Lagos.

“Godogodo confessed that Odun’s mother was the one keeping their arms in Ekiti and we have arrested her. He also gave us the details of the man who received their stolen goods including gold jewellery also in Ekiti.”

Victims storm police headquarters

Meantime, at press time, some of the victims who survived Godogodo’s gruesome robbery attacks in Lagos State, were at the police headquarters in Ikeja to state their cases.

Some of the victims told Vanguard that they were grateful that the law finally caught up with Godogodo.

Also, the Ogun State Police command has refuted claims by the notorious South-West robbery czar, that he was arrested and incarcerated for a minor crime of fighting in 1999 which made him to spend seven years in prison.

Sources from the Ogun State command told Vanguard, yesterday, that Godogodo was actually arrested in 1999 for robbery and murder, adding that he was charged to an Abeokuta court which remanded him.

The source at the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, also told Vanguard that Godogodo spent less than the time he claimed in the prison in Ogun State, where he was remanded.

The source said: “He was arrested for robbery and murder and not fighting as he claimed when he was interviewed.

“Our records showed that Godogodo was never arrested for fighting, rather he was arrested for a more heinous crime and I doubt if he spent up to seven years in prison.

“He got bail few months after his arrest and he jumped bail afterwards. As I speak with you, the command’s legal department is investigating how Godogodo got his bail.”

Spokesperson for the petitioners in the election petition case, Madam Gloria Akuffo has told Citi News “we [petitioners] are asking the court to determine in our [petitioners] favour, in that John Mahama did not win and that the declaration should be reversed”.

According to her, though more time would have been desired by the parties within which to make their verbal addresses, the thirty minute allocated by the court will be used prudently.

The Supreme Court will on Wednesday morning, hear the oral addresses of parties in the election petition hearing.

Both the petitioners and respondents are expected to give reasons for and against why over 4 million votes cast in the 2012 election should be annulled or not in their submissions.

It is not clear which of the four lawyers will first address the court, but each will have 30 minutes to orally address the nine-member court, presided over by Mr Justice William Atuguba.

Other members of the panel are Mr Justice Julius Ansah, Mrs Justice Sophia Adinyira, Ms Justice Constance Rose Owusu, Mr Justice Jones Dotse, Mr Justice Anin Yeboah, Mr Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Mr Justice N. S. Gbadegbe and Mrs Justice Vida Akoto-Bamfo.

The election petition hearing is challenging the declaration of President John Mahama as the winner of the 2012 presidential election.

It has been brought by three petitioners from the opposition NPP. They are Nana Akufo-Addo, flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice-presidential candidate, and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, National Chairman of the party.

Last year, visual artist Bart Jansen and technical engineer Arjen Beltman shocked the world with the Orvillecopter, a unique flying machine that was part cat part helicopter. Apparently, their first invention wasn’t shocking enough, so they’ve decided to kick it up a notch by building an even more bizarre radio-controlled device they aptly named the OstrichCopter. This time they took a male ostrich that had died at an ostrich farm and turned it into a quadcopter by adding four rotors and a pair of wooden skids. The crazy duo describe their invention as “the world’s flying ostrich”, adding that the experience of flying “must be it’s wildest dream, to able to fly and finally escape them untrustworthy Wildebeests”. I didn’t know wildebeests attacked ostriches, but they probably just meant wild beasts. Anyway, Jansen and Beltman recently posted two videos of the OstrichCopter’s test flights on YouTube, and it seems to work pretty well.

It is usually when things are tough that people remember God. Nadia Buari may be smiling that she has found her right man but she should learn from her predecessor.

Keturah Hamilton has been in pains, reading, seeing all the activities of her ex Jim Iyke with his new lover Nadia Buari on the internet.

While she has given up on bad boy Jim Iyke, she resorted to being her own comforter. On the 13th of May, she tweeted that, “tough times never last, tough people do.”

The pain was so unbearable, she could not sleep so she tweeted the next day early morning around 2:49AM being the 14th may, “we met for a reason; either you are a blessing or a lesson.”

And it came to pass that Keturah Hamilton resorted to divine intervention to know for real if all these stress and heartbreak is worth it. Ask and it shall be given you, behold she got an answer. She prayed the entire time by 2:14 PM the same day, she tweeted again, “I prayed to the Lord. He answered my prayer, and took my worries (Jim Iyke) away.”

Keturah Hamilton has been delivered from Jim Iyke, he is now free to hold hands with Nadia Buari like he did at the 2013 VGMA and follow her to her house according to a close friend to the two.
