Culture / Re: Igbo New Year Celebration, Igu Aro Igbo Celebrated In Nri. by gwafaeziokwu: 8:13am On Mar 15, 2022
Why is this not on the front page? Igu aro Igbo ga adi.

Till today in my country home, we still do the ogwugwu festival towards December-January. All the different clans or villages have their own unique themes. It all start with each village that want to start their own festival to go to the central market and place an omu( sacred palm frond). Once anyone does this significant act, it signalled to other villages that after the next market day that a particular village want to start their festival.

People used to think that those Masquerades that full everywhere during Christmas season especially in Anambra state is for Christmas celebration. No its been like that for ages. The difference is that the new generation are adding entertainment and other stuffs to what their fathers have done for more than 1000 years.

People will say "ka anyi jee chuo afo", let's say good bye to the year.

Which talent bank? Some over excited youths who applied for that stuff will end up recruited as teachers and sent to rural schools to teach, others may be sent to ASWMA for waste collection, a few very gifted ones sent to primary health care centres. Prof Soludo already knows those he will appoint as Commissioners and SAs, so don't kid yourself.

You don't know Soludo very well. Anyway, 4 years is a long haul. Let's watch and see.

What is this?

Nonsense. Even if Soludo want to compensate them, they still have to go with Obiano and then be recruited afresh. I don't that happening anyway. They shouod use the money they have enmassed to establish something meaningful for themselves. Unfortunately, most of them didn't utilise the talent data bank window. Premium cry.

Ebonyi finally joined the big guys. Now that's what determination and focus give you.

Anambra has not even scratched her potentials. Let's hope Charlie Nwamgbafor who already has the keys, would gather the political will to unlock it.

Up till now, after over 30 years, you and your nonentity family still can't stop talking about the late stage kikikikikiki.

Who will talk about your nonentity father that Awolowo rotten bone is valuable than his existence now grin.

Eyan Clifford orji, name a yoruba man in south east prison grin

grin grin

You just get schooled on the fact that prisoners could be kept anywhere in Nigeria. With an example you can easily relate with.

I don't care about other miscreant nobodies from southwest that litter Onitsha, Awka prisons. We don't rate them because they are unimportant to us.

Meanwhile, Clifford Orji dey learn work.

Take him serious at your own risk. They have the highest number of prisoner in all region.

Check the name of prisoner in their region, you will see it is 100% igbos.

But Check that of west, you will see we have 50% igbos.

grin

Keep pulling out dumb propaganda from your behind. You have been busted years ago.

Yoruba miscreants and ritualist full south West prisons and many other prisons around Nigeria. Igbos don't have time to milk news coming from your end because we don't rate you.

You think Igbos have the type of time sad waste have. You can imagine our pressmen milling around Onitsha prison to identify Yoruba miscreants. For what exactly! People we don't even rate.

An Igbo public offender is big news in the sad waste because it's a big win. They even have to crown Chidimma Queen in the midst of dirty ewedurians just to milk the news.

We no send una down here.

Mr wise guy, of course there will be some non Igbo is SE prisons, but compare that number to the number of Igbo in SW prisons and other non-SE prisons.

Remember the level of crimes in the SE has gone up astronomically since the Owerri prison break last year. That these heinous crimes in the SE aren’t been solved doesn’t mean the crimes aren’t happening.

grin

You have nothing to prove your mere conjectures. South East youths are well engaged in meaningful pursuit. The report says more Muslims are in prisons compared to Christians. We know the two major tribes where Muslims are found.

@ the bolded, if I were you, I would be more worried about what’s is about to befall you, by your own Ipob youths. Your youths are killing you in your own region in the name of biaflaud and formed ESN/unknown gunmen. What it means now is that no crime will be solved in your region as a result of the term ‘unknown gunmen’, because the police will never have any lead to go by. Have the death of Dr Akiyuli and other prominent Igbo been solved?
You Ipob are filled with so much hate venom that it’s consuming you day by day, while other regions forge ahead politically and economically.

Qoute me again the day police found out who killed Fusho Williams and other unresolved high profile killings in the sad waste. You lack sense, Eziokwu.

I have checked and in this table, it listed prisons by “gender and state”. It didn’t list prisoners by state of origin. I wish it did so we can have a true ethnic based figures.

Again, what do you have to say about Evans and Chidinma in SW prisons, are they Muslim Yorubas too? Prisons in the SW aren’t meant for only Yorubas, rather it’s for all that commits crime regardless of their ethnic background.

Are you daft. So you believe there are no Yoruba miscreants in Onitsha and Awka prisons? Prisoners are moved accordingly to the whims of the authorities.

You remembered Evans and Chidimma's name but couldn't mention of your evil brothers and sisters name. The number of Yorubas caught red-handed with murder just last week alone is more than the entire south East for the past four months.

Facts don't lie mister. You can't twist it any other way.

@ OP, have you bordered checking the ethnic identity of those prisoners in those prisons? It will shock you that the SE has a higher number of their sons/daughters in prisons outside their region. A perfect case in point: Evans, a kidnapper is in Lagos (SW) prison.
Chidinma Ojukwu is is Lagos (SW) prison.

And thousands more like this in other regions. So be careful of what you post, because you’re it may bite your behind.

See them, deflection masters. You can claim all the igr from Lagos state, refusing to acknowledge other major contributors to that igr, but if it's something negative you realise that Lagos population is mixed.

Unfortunately for you, this list talks about state of origin and not residence. It shows that the vast population of miscreants disturbing the peace of hardworking people in Lagos state are Yoruba urchins. Your youths are gone for good. No amount of media propaganda can save you!

His problem is not lack of education but lack of self believe. It's not easy to be an Igbo man. Just imagine the ingenious technological feats of our fathers during the civil war in the 60's when no African countries try believe such.

The day Eastern leadership gets their acts together and supply all the needed infrastructure like gas to power Nnewi, Aba and Onitsha, these guys will kill themselves. Obasanjo jumped Aba and connected gas from Niger delta to Ogun his home state. Since then their noise has been through the roof top.

We are highly innovative. Technology is our forte. So forgive those whose fathers never produced anything. It's not their fault.

When they shout IGR, I just laugh at their ignorance. Nigeria's problem has never been money from day one. Our problem is the gluttony of elected leaders who feel that government is a means for private pocket enrichment. Just look at Akwa Ibom with all its richness messing up the future of her unborn children.

Same thing is happening all over Nigeria. This is why Ogun state with all its high IGR is as poor infrastructure wise as any other state. Delta state don't even know what to do with their oil windfall. We need serious economic managers in all strata of government if Nigeria would ever move forward.

Reduce the cost of governance, stop the looting then this nation might have a chance afterall. Imagine how many industries that could be set up by #100m, then multiply it by 25. Crazy country!

Quietly waiting for our Ebonyi and Imo state brothers to surface and tell Anambra people that they cannot honor their governor by naming any state-government legacy project after him.

Meanwhile, they pretend not to know that David Nweze already named a University still under construction in Uburu after himself, and our Imo brothers will also forget that they named an airport after the Imo governor that initiated but did not complete the project.

Sometimes the hypocrisy and double standards exhibited by our brothers when it comes to Anambra annoy me. I say this because two of my Imo friends already protested against naming Anambra airport after Obiano. Thus, I reminded them that Chief Sam Mbakwe did not do as many projects as Obiano did, and did not even complete the Imo Airport. Yet, he had the honor of the facility named after him. Same as Gov Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom that only initiated but did not complete the Uyo airport. Of course, I have nothing against Gov Sam Mbakwe Or Gov David Umahi. But honor to whom honor is due is a great way to foster excellence and performance in government.

So just two of your Imo friends now equate to Imo people. There are over 5 million people in Imo state, two people cannot represent them. You can say your opinion without deliberately dragging our sister states as if they have beef with us. Anambra progress is a source of joy to all ndigbo irrespective of state of origin.

This primary health centre should be replicated in all communities of Anambra state. It's doable. If funding is the issue, I know there are many wealthy ndi Anambra in each community that would be glad to finance their as part of contribution you their home town.

Health care delivery in most of our villages is nothing to write home about and our elderly population in the rural areas need it badly.
