I have noticed with shock how the Northern elites take so much pleasure in mocking the people of Southern Nigeria at every slightest opportunity especially the SE. Many of them have referred to SE as landlocked even the president called the SE a dot in a circle and many ignoramus went on to cheer him rather than condemn him.

The recent one is El-Rufai claiming that the whole of SE put together is twice Kaduna if I am correct. Then one wonders the modus operandi behind this kind of callous and injury reopening statement from a sitting governor of a state.

Whether El-Rufai is correct or not, my question is why spill the insult on our face almost everytime thereby provoking the people to feel more less of Nigerians? Does the creation of states and balkanization of ethnicity championed by Northern military rulers not put the North in an undue advantage as against Southern states at least in terms of land size?

Wasnt it a deliberate attempt to make the Southern states especially SE smaller as against their counterparts up North? If not, why do we have Igbos in their thousands scattered all over Delta, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River states and yet those people are not in the same states with their Igbo speaking kinsmen? If these people had been put in their right states, am sure SE states would have been much bigger than what we have today.

But for obvious politicalnand economic reasons this sheer wickedness of balkanization of ethnicity in the South has led to the shrinking of states in Southern Nigeria especially the SE all in an attempt to cage, subgugate and concour them and make them politically irrelivant in Nigeria. To further fester their nest, they deliberately reduced SE geopolitical zone to five states while other zones are six and nobody is doing anything to correct that broad day light injustice and robbery.

When people speak up against the wickedness and injustice of the Nigerian government championed by Northern military rulers they are called unprintable names. Today the SE is the most marginalized yet some folks don't want to hear or agree to it, they rather sweep it under the carpet and move on like nothing was wrong. Every single thing standing in the SE today are all effort of an average Igbo man. Hardly will you go to SE and feel what is called federal presence except military checkpoints designed to harrass and intimidate innocent people and to kill them.

Yet the Nigerian government want the Igbos to be happy, feel cool in this by force one Nigeria and abandon their agitation for self rule, who does that? Why is this nation full of despicable leaders who have no soul and their conscience sold to the devil for one penny?

Look at what is happening in Nigeria today. The so called leaders pay lip service to it more so when it concerns their region yet go after people of other region simply because they are not Fulani. Yet, some don't seen anything wrong in all this.

El-Rufai and his cronies continues to insult the South without apology. They feel they own Nigeria. They feel they can say anything and go away with it. They feel they can decide whether power will come to the South in 2023 or not. This is the messy situation we find ourselves, but El-Rufai must mind his utterances as a public figure.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba, said on Thursday in Abuja that 34,587 operatives would be deployed to Anambra for the state’s Nov. 6 governorship election.

Baba made the declaration at a meeting with police officers from the rank of Commissioner and above.

He said the deployment would consist of conventional police officers, Police Mobile Force, the Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Forces, Explosive Ordnance Unit, Force Intelligence Bureau, INTERPOL, Special Protection Unit and a medical team.

He said three helicopters would be deployed for aerial surveillance while detachments of Marine Police operatives would also be deployed to ensure safe, secure and credible electoral process.

Baba said the deployments followed the outcome of election security threat analysis conducted by the Force Intelligence Bureau.

“Based on the outcome of the analysis, we have developed a strategic election security operation plan which will involve the mobilisation of 34,587 police personnel.
“Let me use this opportunity to assure all citizens and stakeholders, including the international community of our determination to work with other security agencies to stabilise the prevailing situation in Anambra.
“The idea is to create a conducive and enabling environment that will guarantee peaceful conduct of the election.

“We are also committed to partnering with INEC within the dictates of the Electoral Act to deliver a credible election in Anambra,’’ he said.

According to him, the police have also emplaced adequate forward and reverse logistics arrangements for seamless operation in the state.

He warned subversive elements and political actors who would want to adopt undemocratic and illegal means to achieve their aspirations to bury such thoughts.

Baba also called on the Commissioners of Police to strengthen security architecture in their commands to prevent anticipated security threat as the year ran to an end. (NAN)
