Honestly speaking, I think this issue of high food cost does not totally rest on government's hands. To some extent, it depends on average citizens like us and it's these citizens that cause price hike. How can a merchant buy some 17k and sell 60k in few months? Over profiteering on top your fellow Nigerian heads. It's not fair. No be every time government, we sef the citizens get problems making life unbearable for the rest.

A crazy friend of mine once said that if you go to most Churches & shoot the men of God in charge in the head, most of them will die because they are just humans and there are no angels safeguarding these men. I think the IGP thinks that way too. Doesn't trust that there are angels or unseen forces safeguarding anyone in the Church. Maybe he's just going so the society or people won't call him Satanist or God's enemy. I'm very wary of that friend of mine though.

BoldBrainz:
Are you people mad in this country?

Why do we just keep majoring in trifles? What is the essence of a power outage reporting App when the power itself is largely non-existent? Does NERC and the FG require daily reports from citizens to know that Nigerians are lacking electricity? This is the only country where the slightest indication of rainfall amounts to total blackout, for reasons they have never bothered to explain to the populace. It's currently raining in Gwarimpa Abuja, and the power has been out for over 2hours now. By the time the rain fades, it's going to take another two days for AEDC to dry high tension cables and transformers .

Instead of prioritising electricity improvement, una dey launch App to report unavailability of light. E be like na Ogun wan kill una papa!

In my own opinion, Umahi is a very competent minister but he shouldn't be much concerned bout roads in the SE, as we all know our SE folks are already used to bad roads, and giving them good road now might cause some inconvenience unknown. Also, Anambra Billionaires are more than enough to fix every road in Nigeria

Attention should be shifted to the SS and of course, the South west first and foremost (The Nation's centre of Civilization)

The major question is what is restructuring Its cannot work in Nigeria. It will only create mass migration to viable states or regions. 97% of the states we have today are not viable and canโ€™t attract any tangible investment or FDI. Akpabio is senate president. Do you think he will do anything about 13% derivation or resource control of the oil in his region

Please enlighten me on what could work best if restructuring won't. I'd love to learn

Have you ever asked your self why no Senator, whether from East, West, South or North has never moved a motion for restructuring?

Thats because if you look at what the constitution of Nigeria says must be done before Nigeria can be restructured, it is better for you to go and sleep

To restructure Nigeria, you have to change the constitution. To change the constitution to recognise restructuring, you need at least a two thirds majority in not only in the upper and lower house's of the national assembly, you also need two thirds majority vote in all 36 states house of assembly of Nigeria

How is that achievable? You have more chances of visiting the moon

Thanks for this! Truth be told, it's achievable if only our lawmakers are patriotic but no! They'd rather serve themselves, their pockets before they think about the nation. Judging by this stringent procedure, now I understand why some say there's no hope for this country.

It can do over a period of say 50,000 years. It doesn't happen over a say a 5,000 year period..

It is scientifically accepted that every human on Earth is descended from black Africans who migrated to those continents tens of thousands of years ago.

The descendants of those early migrants are the pale-skinned Europeans, Chinese, and Japanese, among others, of today.

BUT there have been more RECENT migrations of Africans to various parts of the world in the last 2,000 to 5,000 years.

And these migrants established the great civilizations of ASIA, the AMERICAS, and ARABIA

IN HONG KONG they worship a BLACK MAN as GOD in their traditional religion

Pak Tai, Mysterious Black God of the North

All humans can be said to have come from Africa but not all humans came from the black race.

You're commiting a fallacy of ignorance here (argumentun ad ignoratiam). Just because you've not been able to prove he does nothing doesn't mean he actually does nothing. And I'm just a Messi fan, not a Messi fanatic. Honestly it's his money & his business which means he can choose to do with it whatever he likes & whatever he doesn't. If you like put white man in the sun for a whole year or albino they're not going to get dark like africans. The india president is black india but not african related.

I might agree for that of an Albino but a white man that's frequently exposed would start getting tanned at first. Continue this & they'll start getting dark skinned gradually. Not as dark as a black man but there will be a definite change in complexion. Seems you underestimate the power of the sun.

You people will just go about speaking English and speaking boldly about things you know nothing about.
How is a president supposed to get you restructuring?
Is he the National Assembly?
If you don't know the function of the sit of the president you ask.
That's how some so-called educated people from the East be expecting the president to give them Biafra, expecting the president to arrange for a referendum.
Know your arms of government and their responsibilities.
You want restructuring go and tell your senator and your House member to move a motion.
These are things that will be
delebrated upon on the floor not things the president can take decision on in Aso Rock.
Unfortunately these airheads don't know, they beat their senators in Germany same men who are supposed to table their case at the National Assembly.....

Thanks for the insight! Truly the president isn't in charge of commencing a process of restructuring but the Legislature. That's why I asked if there's something I'm missing for clarifications. However, I still believe the president holds a massive amount of influence & charisma. He only needs to make it clear that he wants it & welcomes the idea as this is enough to spur these law makers to action.

SHE IS A BLACK WOMAN.

The first Indians were BLACK AFRICANS. In fact the ancient Greek scholar Herodotus, around the year 450 BC, referred to India as ''the other Ethiopia''.

Of course, 'Ethiopia' was the name the ancient Greeks gave to all Africa south of the Sahara.

The Africans who migrated to India on ships, established Indian civilization, as well as the first empires of India 3,000 years ago.

They are now known as the Dravidians in India.

The Dravidians after a few thousand years of dominance were overran by Aryans from the north, which led to their current population constitution whereby the south of India is mostly black/brown while the north is lighter skin coloured, plus various colours in between caused by intermarriage and racial mixture.

Okay whatever you say, I've tried my best.

Don't you see dark skinned Indians when you watch Bollywood movies? These guys are mostly used as thugs, criminals, henchmen & stuff. Do blacks even have that hairstyle she has naturally? Politics / Why Are Our Presidents/Leaders Dreading The Idea Of Restructuring? by GYBABA(m): 10:52pm On Sep 09, 2023
A cogent point which has been made by political experts, those that have been actively involved & just normal observers is that restructuring would be very beneficial to Nigeria & will unequivocally hasten development throughout Nigeria as different regions will develop at their own pace with your own resources & citizens will be more likely to hold their leaders accountable if they perceive other regions developing excellently well while theirs is maintaining status quo or is worsening.

After all, Nigeria is a multicultural, multi-complex country & definitely not a nation. Even places that could easily count as a nation due to sharing one language had to go through the restructuring process.

Why then are our leaders particularly the Presidents taking a cue to try it out atleast if the president is very much willing & expresses his wish for that & even orders it to be implemented, there's high likelihood that it'll happen but the problem is the top-dogs aren't even making any definite actions to make this true. Are the cabals in government not also singing it to their ears, what are the special advisers also doing? Is no one in government without plans to make it work?

When the idea of restructuring comes up, there is this belief that Northern Presidents, Governors & other political leaders from up North won't allow it because it won't favour their region particularly because of crude oil revenues that they'll miss out on. Hence, they'll kick against it but then what about the Southern leaders? We've had Obasanjo, he did nothing, then even Jonathan who's from the oil rich state did nothing in that regard too. There were beliefs by some that Jonathan would have been the best suited to implement it because it won't affect him that much since he comes from a state that would keep enjoying the dough from crude oil but lo & behold, restructuring was aborted before it could even develop to a baby.

Now we have another GCFR from the South in person of Tinubu, the super Jagaban who could make it work but isn't really talking about it or acting like he'll even implement it. There's really no hope it'll happen. They will rather keep all the power in the centre & on one individual rather than empowering these federating units, regions or states more & this same cycle will keep occurring over & over & over again.

If it's a Northern leader, forget about it but a Southern leader should still give hope of restructuring happening. Why then are they not doing anything? Why is no one doing anything? Is restructuring that difficult to achieve? Am I missing something? Is it a taboo?

In all, it seems they dread it regardless of where they come from. Please you can air your thoughts without yabbing, derailing or turning this negatively into a tribal war or political brouhaha. Please the senseless ones should please have sense! Be civil! Thank you.

PS.: We don't really need to split the country totally. No! Just restructure! This will give a little semblance of secession but every region will still be connected to the central idea of Nigeria unlike secession that's totally partition. Just give restructuring a chance! Our leaders please!

PS2. : It is not the President's duty to kick start a process of restructuring. It's actually the duty of the Legislature (National Assembly members). It's only after these law-makers initiate it that the President can choose to assent or reject it. It's was never the President(s)! It's the Senators work! Hold your leaders accountable!
