Right at this moment Islam is a danger.. a danger to the world's security..a danger to itself...It may have been a forward looking ideology some 1200 years ago but it got stuck..

Only if todays Muslims are willing to revise their faith will the religion have a chance to survive...If not either they will destroy civilization or civilization will destroy them...

plaindealer:

Hence the reason why the VP looked lost, uncomfortable, and out of place. That was not his crowd, shitting where you eat is never a good thing.

Even Aregbe retraced his steps, Aregbe did not even take the bait when the VP made the unfortunate and thoughtless comment about the info on his nomination as the VP coming from Aregbe.

It's one thing to contest against Tinubu, it's another thing to throw jabs at him, it was not even a small jab, it was a big jab basically disassociating himself from Tinubu and that Tinubu is and was irrelevant before and during the nomination process.

Pains me to see the man rubbish and relegate himself down to a puerile and political amateur level.

Look at the whole APC political structure at the federal and state level including state governors, they are obviously distancing themselves from the VP. To them, if you are so bold to do this to your own political benefactor and your own Yoruba brother, you can never be trusted.

Northerners are very loyal people, they know how to repay loyalty and goodwill and there's a reason why they are shouting "It's time to pay back".

Apart from Igbos who are never going to vote for him regardless of their silly noise on social media and fanboys on Twitter, serious political actors across the country are avoiding him politically.

Rubbish! Why are you people not thinking straight? That you are paid by the moneybag does not mean you should lose your senses. Get this into your skull, the VP has every right to contest just as Tinubu. More so, many Nigerians don't even want Tinubu because of certain things about him!

Politics / Gumi Tasks FG on Health Sector, Floats Fulani Herders’ Rights Group by Hadeylex: 6:11pm On May 01, 2022
Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Saturday, asked the All Progressives Congress-led regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to declare a state of emergency on the nation’s health sector.

According to Gumi, the health sector across the country had collapsed as the general hospitals were now mere consulting centres.

The cleric called on Nigerian leaders to fear God and ensure that the state of the nation’s hospitals got a facelift from what it was at the moment.

Gumi stated this as he led other Muslim faithful on a visit to two major state-owned hospitals in Kaduna State capital shortly after the annual Ramadan preaching session which was held at Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Gumi was reported to have floated an advocacy group known as Nomadic Rights Concern to fight for the rights of Fulani herders.

Gumi, while announcing the formation of the Nomadic Rights Concern, said it would bring attention to the abuses and violations of rights of Fulani herders across the country.

The cleric said, “We found it worthwhile to establish Nomadic Rights Concern to be headed by Prof. Umar Labbo. NORIC is supposed to be a channel whereby Nomads will have their complaints and agitation addressed to the right authorities.

“Many have complaints about the loss of family members. Others are in the prisons of security apparatus for many years without offence and trial in a competent court of justice.

“The organisation was established to address these fallouts, hopefully, nomads will follow the civil ways in addressing their grievances away from violence. It’s said that violence is the language of the unheard.”

The hospitals visited, according to Malam Tukur Mamu (Dan-Iyan Fika), Median Consultant to the cleric, were Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in the metropolis and the Gwamna Awwan General Hospital in the southern part of the state.

Gumi lamented that the visit had exposed him to the enormous challenges and vulnerable patients and their relatives faced in the country “where virtually everything has collapsed despite the increasing number of millionaires that mostly earned such favours/money through the government at all levels and using all forms of corrupt tendencies to accumulate at the expense of the suffering masses.”

Specifically, Gumi described the situation of the patients in the two major hospitals as “pathetic and indicting” on the part of the government of the day.

It said, “The visit had exposed Sheikh Gumi to the enormous challenges vulnerable patients and their relatives are facing in a society where virtually everything has collapsed despite the increasing number of millionaires that mostly earned such favours/money through the government at all levels and using all forms of corrupt tendencies to accumulate at the expense of the suffering masses.

“Sheikh Gumi got a first hand knowledge about increasing number of children, including infants, mostly that are dying due to preventable and treatable sicknesses such as Malaria and Typhoid fever.

“Greater number of the patients Sheikh Gumi saw did not even have money to feed themselves not to talk of affording medical expenses even on severe cases of emergency.”

Gumi also expressed concern that emergency cases at the government owned hospitals didn’t receive the desired attention, while “critical medical evaluations and tests that were supposed to be done immediately and the result be out on time (for patients that have the resources to pay) were being delayed to as much as one and two weeks, while decisions in case of patients that required emergency surgery, etc. were being unnecessarily delayed leading to deaths of patients in many occasions according to the testimony of the helpless patients.”

According to Gumi, it is unbelievable that “this is the country that has many billionaires, most of them accumulating such wealth through undue favours from the government or as proceeds of corruption through appointments or contracts.”

He offered cash gifts and words of consolation to the patients and their relatives.

He urged governments at all levels to provide more facilities in public hospitals, “make doctors accountable and responsive and provide a means of taking care of the hospital bills of vulnerable patients, especially those on critical condition and on emergency cases.”

Gumi also called on wealthy Nigerians to fear God and invest for the sake of humanity, adding that “what Allah has given them is meant to serve the humanity and that any privileged person that fails to invest for the sake of humanity, especially the less privileged and those in need, will definitely regret it here in this world and in hereafter.”

He lamented a situation where millions would be wasted on chartered aircrafts to attend wedding ceremonies, unnecessary events or attending children graduation abroad or wasting money on “Umrah jamboree at a time there are more important things to do that will please Allah more which is more rewarding.”

Gumi then “called on both federal and state governments to declare emergency in the Nigerian health sector.”

https://punchng.com/gumi-tasks-fg-on-health-sector-floats-fulani-herders-rights-group/

Imagine the audacity of a man who should be languishing in jail. Definitely, Gumi is working for Fulani herdsmen and the federal government is aware of it; there's no denying the fact. Or, isn't it obvious? And, bandits are herdsmen and herdsmen are bandits!
Politics / FG To Establish 119 Ranches in Benue, Taraba Others by Hadeylex: 5:51am On May 01, 2022
A total of 119 ranches are to be created under the National Livestock Transformation Plan in various states across the country between 2019 and 2028, the Federal Government has said.

In the NLTP 2019-2028 document approved by the National Economic Council and obtained in Abuja on Friday, the Federal Government stated that about 300,000 jobs would be created in the first three years of the programme, which it described as phase one.

It said, “In the pilot period, there will be two pilot sites per state, consisting of four ranches per site. Overall, a total of seven breeder ranches, 56 ranches and seven semen banks are initially envisaged among the seven pilot states.

“Between 150,000 – 200,000, plus over 92,000 cattle raised in clusters in the seven pilot states will increase the number of improved high-yielding local dairy cows. Over the 10-year period, the number of ranches envisaged at this point would be 112, plus seven breeder ranches totalling 119.”

In the document, the Federal Government stated that the livestock programme would initially develop pilot ranches in grazing reserves in each of the seven pilot states.

It listed the pilot states as Adamawa, Benue, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara, adding that four categories of ranches – small, intermediate, medium and large – would be developed and tested in each grazing reserve in the states.

“The implementation plan can also be adopted by other interested states,” the National Executive Council stated in the document.

The government explained that the economic activities involved in building and maintaining ranch infrastructure, production of livestock and feedstock, as well as related upstream and downstream support services and value addition, would provide opportunities for employment and human capacity development, especially in rural communities.

It said, “By the end of the third year (Phase 1), these activities alone would have created more than a third of a million jobs, with over 500 pastoralists linked to market-led value chains.

“The ranches will provide opportunities for the emergence of market-driven agro-pastoralists and linking to markets through quality improvement and standards. By the end of the plan period in 2028, job growth will rise to more than two million.”

The document added, “The mix of jobs to be created will largely be a mix of technical roles (veterinarians, plant operators), unskilled workers (farmhands, feedlot hands), and farm managers.

“Outside of production, additional job growth is anticipated for processing technicians, factory packing roles, transporters from rail to trucks, and warehouse managers. Retail jobs such as supermarket in-house butchers and aisle stocking teams will also be created and present across the federation.”

The PUNCH had exclusively reported during the week that the federal and selected state governments were to spend about N120bn to fund the livestock transformation strategy of the NLTP.

The report stated that additional funding for the livestock programme was also expected from donors, as the bulk of the fund would be used on pilot ranches under the NLTP.

The report stated, “The government of Nigeria has set aside N100bn to fund the first phase of the livestock transformation strategy.

“State governments have also committed to spend 20 per cent or a further N20bn in support of the strategy. The funds will be used to execute the strategy described herein alongside additional funding from private investors and donors.”

The government explained that the proposed high-level allocation of the N100bn would be spent majorly on the rollout of pilot ranches and the implementation of NLTP pillars over phase one, which would be from three to five years.

It, however, noted that state contributions were not factored into the categories to be funded with the N100bn from the Federal Government, adding states’ funds would be spent within each contributing state as deemed fit.

https://punchng.com/fg-to-establish-119-ranches-in-benue-taraba-others/

Why the obsession about establishment of ranches by the federal government? We have said this for the umpteenth time that cattle rearing is a private business and government should not dabble into it, otherwise, the federal government should as well invest huge capital in other livestock and agro businesses such piggery, fish farming, rabbit rearing, goat rearing, cassava farming, etc
Politics / Lagos Keke NAPEP Riders Protest Alleged Harassment by MC Oluomo, Istijabah Boys by Hadeylex: 1:18pm On Apr 27, 2022
Some tricycle riders on Tuesday staged a protest against the alleged incessant harassment and attacks by armed thugs loyal to the chairman of Lagos State Park and Garages Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, in the Command and Merian areas of the state.

During the demonstration, the protesters were seen carrying placards inscribed with different messages that explained their grievances in the hands of MC Oluomo and his foot-soldiers.

The messages include ‘MC Oluomo is killing us,’ ‘No more Oluomo at Ifako Ijaiye,’ ‘We want TOOAN,’ among others.

The protesters were also heard jointly chanting “we don’t want Oluomo again.”

Speaking during the demonstration, a yet-to-be-identified protester lamented excessive ticket sales, adding that tricycle business in the Ifako Ijaiye area of the state had been crippled.

The protester said, “We are operators; we have been working since morning and they have spoiled everything and we can’t even work again. Ticket here ticket there, we don’t want Oluomo again.

“They should stop Oluomo for us. I have been injured because I want to eat; they are just giving us tickets everyday. We don’t want Oluomo again.”

The protesters were reportedly dispersed by policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad.

A video in possession of our correspondent showed police patrol vehicles were moving in the area to prevent a breakdown of law and order during the protest.

However, in another development, another group of tricycle operators protested around Abule-Egba, in the Agbado-Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area of the state.

The protesters lamented alleged harassment by armed thugs sponsored by the chairman of Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria, Azeez Abiola, aka Istijabah.

The tricycle operators said the harassment started after they denounced their membership from NURTW and TOOAN, adding that Istijabah and his foot-soldiers allegedly condemned them for attempting to join the transport union committee created by the government.

Speaking with our correspondent, the erstwhile chairman, TOOAN, Branch B, Ojokoro-Ijaiye, Musa Adekunbi, aka Odo, accused members of the association of deposing him after pledging allegiance to the government-led committee headed by MC Oluomo.

He said, “I used to be the treasurer, TOOAN, but recently, I recorded myself in a video clip that I am no longer with TOOAN and that I am now working with the state government’s Park and Garages Committee but he (Istijabah) disagreed despite about 20 others leaving the zone to join the park management.

“My branch is at Ijaiye but he willingly allowed about 20 people to go and join the park management but he does not want me to join and I no longer want to join TOOAN. So, his boys were the ones that came to pursue us away from the Ijaiye park and we reported the incident at the Ojokoto police station and at Area G in Ogba.”

Reacting, the secretary, TOOAN, identified simply as Roland, said Adekanbi acted selfishly, adding that he wanted to take over TOOAN’s park after deciding to join PMC.

He said, “Our former zonal treasurer (Adekanbi) called for help from MC Oluomo and his gang to assist him in taking over our parks to join the Park Management Committee. Our association is not under PMC, but because of his own personal interest, that was why he wanted to take the park to PMC.

“I called him about the video and he said he did it because he was tense and that people told him to do it to be able to corner my boss because my boss has refused to join PMC.”

Contacted, Jimoh Buari, the spokesperson for MC Oluomo, said his boss had not directed anybody to take over parks in the areas, adding that the transport union members joined willingly.

Our correspondent had reported incessant clashes between loyalists of MC Oluomo and Istijabah in different areas in the state.

During the clashes, cases of exchange of gunfires had been recorded as passersby, residents, and business owners in the affected areas scamper to safety because of tension.

This is the same method Tinubu will foist garage boys on Nigerians if he is elected president of Nigeria, using the police to enforce his agenda. Mark my words!

Dr Akinwunmi Adesina is a man who has been tried at national and international levels and has performed excellently well. In fact, not many have thought about him! Fellow Nigerians, we must not make any mistake this time in presenting, promoting and electing the right leader given the extent of devastation of things in the country. We just can't afford to make a mistake as any mistake will cost us more than can be imagined or remedied. My opinion.
Politics / Opinion: Obasanjo’s Support for an Adesina’s Presidency by Hadeylex: 3:12am On Apr 22, 2022
ON May 2, 2021, an article attributed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo where he thumbed Dr. Akinwumi Adesina as the best person to occupy the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023 came out in a national newspaper, The Vanguard. If a poll is conducted today, asking Nigerians who the cap of Nigeria’s presidency best fits, certainly most Nigerians will support Obasanjo’s choice of the President of African Development Bank and a one-time Minister of Agriculture in the country. In the Diaspora, we are giving support to the efforts being made to co-opt Adesina into the forthcoming presidential race. We have examined his contributions and personal commitment towards a better Nigeria and Africa at large.

As Nigeria’s political barometer, Obasanjo’s residence has become a beehive of activities for politicians and political groups seeking his endorsement! Obasanjo is not shy to quick criticisms of leaders for non-performance in office, especially leaders who came to elective positions through his support. We are, therefore, not surprised that Obasanjo would endorse Dr Adesina for the highest office in the land. However, we are certain that Adesina’s presidency will not suffer any shortcomings to face the criticism of “Baba,” as Obasanjo is fondly called in Nigeria!

We also know that Obasanjo has indicated his retirement from partisan politics but not from politics and global leadership. We recall how Obasanjo successfully identified and supported the candidacy of the incumbent President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in 2015; former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2007. It can be said that Obasanjo has a knack of knowing a winning horse!

Just about a month ago, Osa Umweni, the political and economic analyst who authored the call for Adesina to run—Run Adesina, Run—concluded that in view of the gloomy economic scenario of Nigeria, “the leadership of the country shouldn’t be left in the hands of jokers or buccaneers.” He said, “2023 is not the time for a leadership experiment. It is the time for solid, pragmatic and purposely leadership, not one to crown a political life journey.” This author and analyst posited that “The successor to Nigeria’s incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose second-term tenure is coasting to the finish point, must be one who has paid his dues in the economic sphere cum international ecosystem. When Dr. Adesina was given the opportunity to serve as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, he distinguished himself from the pack of ministers and his predecessors as a selfless servant to all Nigerians. He worked tirelessly with his team to transform the mindset of millions of smallholder farmers and the youth that “agriculture is a business, not a development program.”

He advocated for policy and institutional reforms that attracted private sector investment commitments of over $5 billion into Nigeria’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda.

As minister, Adesina worked with global political and economic leaders to onboard Nigeria’s membership in “The G7 New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition – Nigeria Cooperation Framework.” This eventually led to the institutionalisation of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group comprising 21 executive leadership team members. Adesina stood against all odds to wipe what was then considered before his tenure in office an open secret, the widespread corruption in the fertiliser supply chain through the electronic wallet system, the Growth and Enhancement Support Scheme. He added over 20 million tons of food to the domestic supply chain and uplifted millions of smallholder farmers out of poverty. We can go on and on!

Of course, Adesina has, since his service as agriculture minister, been two-term president of the AfDB but not without a fight in his re-election with assault by then US President, Donald Trump, and Secretary of Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, on the integrity of his character as leader of the bank. He won the battle with an unprecedented support of his re-election coming from all African presidents including Nigeria’s past and present presidents and former heads of state. Globally, Dr Adesina has enjoyed the recognition of world leaders, including the United States, Canada, France, United Kingdom and, most recently, the United Arab Emirates. Dr Adesina has recently engaged with President Joe Biden’s administration and his top officials, including Vice President Kamala Harris and the Secretary of Treasury, Janet Yellen, on climate financing among other global economic challenges facing Africa and Africans at home and in the United States. It is therefore not surprising that Obasanjo, himself, a globally recognised leader in domestic and international politics, has gone so far as to beckon on Dr Adesina as one best prepared and fit for the job of the President of Nigeria after the incumbent, Buhari.

Recognising the urgent need for economic resurgence, President Buhari invited Adesina to articulate a roadmap for Nigeria’s economic resurgence at the 2021 Midterm Ministerial Performance Review Retreat. The retreat had all the Nigerian high echelon of government functionaries, including the executive, legislature as well as state governors, present, as Adesina did what he knows how to do best: Economic predictions and analysis. Knowing Adesina, we are sure his presidency will usher in a robust economic resurgence that will, in addition, put an end to our children drowning in the high seas of Africa and Europe in their quest for a better life.

When elected President of Nigeria, Adesina’s support of the Nigerian youth and the #EndSARS movement is sure to turn our youth into successful entrepreneurs, into the future millionaires and billionaires of Africa through hard work, commitment and perseverance. Adesina will undoubtedly prioritise investments in national and food security, in infrastructure development to secure the lives and properties of all Nigerians, in industrialisation and in human capital development. Joblessness of our youths will surely become a thing of the past in Adesina’s presidency. Youth and women empowerment in real economic terms must include a safe and secure Nigeria, the One-Nigeria where youths can dream again of a better life without the senseless and cowardly acts of banditry, insurgency and terrorism.

The time is now for “President Adesina of Nigeria” to be fully prepared to emerge and be elected to the Office of the presidency of Nigeria come 2023. It’s the right time to deepen and rebuild the socioeconomic and political foundations of our beloved country. Let us all, therefore, join hands with those who have identified and supported Dr Adesina in Nigeria, at the AfDB, on the world stage and more, including our very own, President Buhari, and all other former presidents and heads of state, to bring this dream to a reality! To the electorate, we challenge you to join hands with these detribalised political leaders, to work together and focus on taking advantage of the diversity of tribes, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender and socioeconomic class of today to rebuild a stronger and better Nigeria for all Nigerians, both at home and abroad.

The time is now for the rebuilding of the ruins of divisive politics in Nigeria, the time to turn-back the economic headwinds of the COVID-19 pandemic and the collateral damage of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. We believe that Adesina is the man of the hour, the altruistic visionary leader who has the capacity and leadership attributes that are required to garner domestic and global support to wipe out insurgency and banditry, terrorism and senseless killings of innocent Nigerians in our own land. The 2023 presidential election is the right time to elect the right man to get the job done. That man of the hour is Dr Adesina, the candidate to usher in the One-Nigeria of our dreams.

Together, let us join hands to once again beckon on Dr Adesina to join the nomination and electioneering process that could lead to his emergence as the next president of Nigeria.

Politics / Insecurity: Why Northern Elders Are Angry With Buhari – Femi Adesina by Hadeylex: 12:15pm On Apr 15, 2022
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has knocked the Northern Elders Forum for asking the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to resign over his handling of insecurity challenges bedeviling the country.

This is as he also alleged that the NEF position was borne out of the members’ frustration after they allegedly failed to be part of Buhari’s regime.

Adesina revealed this in an article titled, ‘Hiding under the umbrella of insecurity’, and shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

The PUNCH reports that NEF had on Tuesday asked Buhari to resign for failing to provide security in the country. The forum made the demand in a statement by its spokesperson, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.

It said it was disappointing that after nearly seven years of being in office, Buhari still has no answers to security challenges across the country.

The statement read in part, “The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari does not appear to have answers to the challenges of security to which we are exposed.

“We cannot continue to live and die under the dictates of killers, kidnappers, rapists, and sundry criminal groups that have deprived us of our rights to live in peace and security.

“Our constitution has provisions for leaders to voluntarily step down if they are challenged by personal reasons or they prove incapable of leading.”

But reacting to the NEF’s position in his article, Adesina alleged that NEF was peopled with “self-seeking individuals” who had hoped will get the better of the regime after Buhari’s electoral victory in 2015.

He wrote, “The point of interest today is the hackneyed calls on President Buhari to resign over the country’s security challenges, the latest coming from a so-called Northern Elders Forum (NEF), a group I’d once described as “Generals without troops.”

“The Forum is largely made of angry, bitter, self-seeking individuals, who had thought they would be leading President Buhari by the nose when he emerged in 2015. In fact, key personalities in the group made strenuous efforts to be part of the administration. When they didn’t succeed, they became adversaries.

“It is on record that NEF had always opposed the Buhari administration since its gambit failed, and before the 2019 presidential election, it openly endorsed Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party as next President.

“And that completely vitiates whatever position the Forum adopts today. It is partisan, bilious, by no means neutral. It is from a self-serving standpoint.”

Furthermore, the presidential aide argued that there were issues of insecurity globally and that the President was sparing no effort in securing Nigeria and Nigerians.

“Between 2009 and 2022, there were at least 271 mass shootings in United States of America, resulting in 1,518 people killed, and 980 wounded. Just this week, there has been the Brooklyn Subway Shooting, in which at least 23 people were critically injured.

“vIn all these, did you hear calls for the resignation of any American President? It is on record that last year was the deadliest in a decade, in terms of mass shootings. Have you heard of calls for the resignation of President Joe Biden by a caterwauling band? No.”

“Every life is important. No single life should be taken wantonly. Not in America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and definitely not in Nigeria. And when challenges occur, as we currently have, it should not be turned to a leaky political umbrella, from under which you hide to express hatred and malice.

“That is what is happening in Nigeria today. Individuals, groups, organizations, political parties, who had been against President Muhammadu Buhari, and who had been given bloody noses at the polls, are now using the smokescreen of insecurity to vent their spleen.

“We failed to oust him through the ballot box, let’s run him out of town by another means. Let’s instigate the country against him. But majority of Nigerians know better.”

In fact, these guys should sell the country and let's share the money. Another 6 trillion loan at the level Nigeria is operating. Who are those fools even borrowing this man money? Can't they see the handwriting on the wall that this country has collapsed. What are they using money accrued from selling crude oil on, what of monthly taxes, value added taxes, import duty many more like that. To be sincere, these people are cursed.

Politics / TCN Blames Low Generation for Nationwide Incessant Outages by Hadeylex: 5:00am On Mar 09, 2022
THE Transmission Company of Nigeria says the current load shedding being experienced nationwide is as a result of very low power generation by the electricity generation companies for the TCN to wheel through the transmission grid to distribution companies nationwide.

For close to three weeks now, power consumers in various locations across the country have been complaining of incessant outages amidst the over one month scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, in Nigeria.

Reacting to the outages in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the transmission company said, “The media has been awash with reports that TCN has reduced the load allocation to distribution companies. That information is incorrect.

“The correct position is that TCN can only transmit the quantum of power generated by Gencos through the national grid to distribution load centres nationwide.

“For clarity, TCN does not generate electricity and therefore can only transport cumulative generation from all the generation companies nationwide to distribution load centres.”

It stated that the distribution companies were responsible for end-user consumption, while TCN allocated power to Discos based on approved percentage of the total generation available per hour or on day-ahead nomination.

TCN stated that currently, the cumulative generation nationwide was low and Gencos had attributed this to several factors including poor gas supply, fault in generating units, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

It said all of these issues had caused most power generating companies to limit their generation, and sometimes not generate at all.

“A summary of the power generating profiles in the last two months, for instance, clearly shows that 14 gas-powered generating stations were either not generating at all or had limited generation at various times within the period, further depleting the quantum of power generation available for transmission into the grid on a daily basis,” TCN stated.

It added, “Power generating stations in this category include Omotosho units 5 & 6, Olorunsogo units 3, 4 & 6, Omoku Units 3 & 6, Omotosho NIPP units 3 & 4, Delta units 15, 17, and 18, Afam VI units 11 & 12, Olorunsogo NIPP unit 3, Ihovbor NIPP unit 2, Sapele Steam unit 3, Sapele NIPP unit 1, Odukpani NIPP units 1 & 3, and Okpai units 11, 12 & 18.

“Also, within the same period, Jebba Hydro and Shiroro Power Generating Stations were either out or had limited generation, causing additional loss of 232MW from the grid.

“Other power generating plants such as Omotosho units 3&4, Olorunsogo units 1, Delta units 10 &20, Afam VI unit 13, Ihovbor NIPP units 4, Geregu NIPP units 22&23 and Odukpani NIPP units 2, 4 & 5, have also been out either on fault or for scheduled maintenance, causing a further loss of about 3,180MW from the grid.”

TCN stated that a combination of the above scenarios had persisted and the total effect on the grid was persistent low generation, which operators of the transmission company had strived to dispatch in a way that would not jeopardise the stability of the grid.

“More recently, from the 1st to 4th of March 2022, there was generation shortfall due to water management in Shiroro and Jebba hydro with the loss of 307MW and 125MW respectively from both stations,” TCN stated.

It added, “Within the same period, there were fault and technical problems in Egbin, causing 514MW shortfall and in Geregu causing 230MW shortfall, while reported fault at Alaoji NIPP reduced generation from the substation by 263MW.

“Gas constraint alone in Olorunsogo gas generating plant reduced generation from the station by 104MW. In the same vein, Omotosho gas lost 102MW and Sapele NIPP lost 263MW. In Omotosho NIPP, there was generation shortfall of 233MW and in Omoku a shortfall of 112MW.

“Two units in Okpai have limited generation due to technical problems causing a 204MW drop in generation and in Afam VI 511MW drop in generation.”

TCN stated that gas constraint and fault in Olorunsogo NIPP reduced generation by 240MW, Geregu NIPP by 435MW, and Ihovbor by 142MW.

It stated that due to gas pipeline pigging, Odukpani NIPP was shut down, which caused a reduction of generation by 575MW.

TCN said a combination of issues ranging from gas constraints, fault, and technical problems within generating plants caused persistent low generation and consequently low load allocation to distribution companies nationwide.

“This is based on the fact that TCN can only transmit what is being generated by Gencos and presently they are all generating below capacity,” the transmission company stated.

It added, “It is important to note that except cumulative power generation increases considerably for TCN to transmit to distribution companies nationwide, TCN will be left with no choice than to continue to load shed.

“We will, however, continue to work hard to ensure the efficient allocation of the total load generated by power generating stations into the grid, bearing in mind the need to ensure that the national grid is stable in spite of the challenges posed by insufficient load on the transmission grid.”

Politics / Adulterated Fuel: FG Test-running Fuel Price Increase by Hadeylex: 4:20am On Feb 17, 2022
It is obvious that the federal government is actually test-running the ability of Nigerians to sustain the proposed increase in the pump price of petrol in eventually implemented. Isn't it obvious as the same tactic was employed in 2016 by the federal government when it initially hiked the price of petrol then telling us that it was only doing maintenance and that the price would drop?

Actually, the price came down then only for the federal government to jerk up the price a month or two later, again saying it had no option than to remove fuel subsidy as it was not sustainable. Meanwhile, before the present administration was elected in 2015, Buhari and the APC leaders had claimed that the claim of the past administration (PDP) that it was paying subsidy was false as there was nothing called subsidy.

I suspect the adulterated fuel in the country is a ploy to create artificial scarcity in order to test how Nigerians will respond to another fuel price increase as this (importation of adulterated fuel) has never happened in the history of petrol importation in the country.

Muslims, obviously, are generally troublemakers and because the governors of Osun and Kwara are Muslims, they are bowing to pressures from adherents. The constitution of the country also has a lot problems while the courts are controlled by the government. This is a very simple case, one that doesn't require any stress: Muslim adherents who wish to practise their religious beliefs beyond their mosques and homes should send their children to Islamic faith -based schools while Christian parents who also want to practise their religious beliefs should send their children to Christian faith-based schools!

This school has rules and regulations and then children of ismael will just come and say they want to change it because government funds the school. Who is funding the Islamiya school? Can you allow Christian come to islamiya school and be speaking in tongues and shouting Jesus is king?

This is another idiooot!

Rubbish

CAN took the hijab matter to Court, they lost woefully in both the high court and the appeal court.

Government run those schools from the taxes collected from citizens, including Muslims. Nobody will deny our girls their fundamental right to wear hijab at all time.

CAN should sue the government and get their schools back, after which they can allow children to wear pants and bra to Joschool.

Failure to comply with the Court judgement will be terrible. Those schools will remain shut forever.

It is not everything you hinge on prayers. It is good to pray, but we pray too much in this country. In fact, we seem to substitute things that require common-sense with prayers.

As it is now, all we need to do is to shine our eyes in 2023 and change this wicked government. Thanks

Politics / Malami: Why Buhari Will Not Sign Proposed Electoral Law by Hadeylex: 4:26pm On Dec 27, 2021
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has given reasons why the President, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), would not sign the new electoral law insisting that the law has not captured the interest of all Nigerians.

He stated this in a phone-in program on Radio Kano while responding to questions on Sunday.

He said the new electoral law has an excessive cost implication, is discriminatory, as well as supportive of insecurity adding that signing it into law will only initiate a new crisis that will lead to court cases.

“What you should understand about the leadership of the country most especially as it regards President Muhammadu Buhari on any law presented to him for signing, the President is entitled to certain rights.

“When you talk about politics he has rights, if you talk about the economy, the business community also have rights on him, if you are talking about 60% of Nigerians that are not politicians, if you talk about the economy he also has rights, if you are talking about security, there is also what is expected from him. The President has to consider laws that are sustainable.

“The job of the President is that of politics, economy, business, security, legislation, politicians and non-politicians. This is because the leadership of the country is not for the politicians alone, it is a leadership that affects the social life of the people, their religion, economy, security and others. This is contrary to the leadership of the legislators which is solely political.

“Therefore, the lawmakers are only concerned about their political inclination while the President is concerned about the entire lives of Nigerians made up of politicians and non-politicians.

He further described the financial burden in the new electoral bill not signed by the president.

“For example, one of the reasons is that there are 18 political parties and a law is founded that will allow for direct primaries. The difference between this and the general election is small because it allows for all Nigerians to come about and say their opinions.

“This means that you will repeat the general elections 18 times. Today INEC requires N305 billion for the 2023 general elections. Now if the general election, which is not the newly proposed electoral system, will cost this much, how much will it cost to do the same election in the APC? It might cost at least N200 billion because it will involve everyone.

“Although the good side of the law is that INEC is required to monitor it. Therefore, if it is assumed that every political party will spend N200 billion, how much will then be spent in conducting the same primary election in 18 political parties just to produce a qualified candidate?

“Let’s assume there are about 60 million politicians in the country, what about the remaining over 160 million Nigerians who have nothing to do with politics? Are you fair to them? All the people want are good projects, good roads from Abuja to Kano, portable drinking water, good education, school feeding programme and the rest of them. Are you fair to the 160 million Nigerians using their wealth just to conduct primary elections to produce a party candidate, despite other demands by the public?

“My answer to this is that, to spend this N305 billion that will be given to the INEC and the about N200 billion to be given to the political parties is not fair to the remaining 160 million Nigerians who have no business about politics and political appointments. Their business is just a better life in Nigeria. This is the issue of cost implications,” Malami said.
